Thank you Hokulani Bake Shop for making my best friend's Gender Reveal & Baby Shower a success!!! I called/emailed 3 or 4 places trying to find someone who could do gender reveal fillings and most of the bakeries I tried could not. Hokulani Bake Shop was prompt in answering my emails and so helpful with letting me know the price breakdown, due dates for order info and payment, available pick up times, and options for cupcake flavors and decorations! I like that they said their cupcakes do not have to be refrigerated (to be eaten within 1 day). The texture of the cupcake was great, and the buttercream frosting and filling was so good because it wasn't too sweet! I had people coming back to eat more cupcakes haha
Located in Restaurant Row, near the bar area (The Row?). Their hours are limited to how quickly they sell out, we made sure to go first thing in the morning when they opened at 9am. This has been my only cupcake go spot because of the moist cupcakes and I don't get a reaction to their red velvet cupcakes. We were greeted and was cared for if we had questions. I am thrilled that they've made it thru the years.
I really love this bakery. I love this bakery so much that I had my birthday cupcakes made from here. What's nice about these is that the cupcakes are not too sweet so you don't feel that sugar rush after eating one. That probably means you should eat two. Anyway, the shop is small but has exactly what you need right in front of you. The cooler contains the cupcakes for the day, but go early as they run out! There are also bags of other snacks including shortbread, ranch, pretzels, and very cutely decorated cookies. They even have cards for purchase if you need to get a card last minute with your cupcakes. The staff is very friendly and very patient when ordering which is especially helpful for me because I never really know what I want because they're also delicious.
I've had hokulani's cupcakes a few times and always enjoyed them. My daughter requested to get her birthday cupcakes from here also, so I ordered the minis for her kindergarten class. Will order again when needed :)
It has been such a long while since venturing to this little bakery at restaurant row. We had a birthday at our office and needed to pick up something sweet. I volunteered to head to hokulani since it was convenient and the baked goods never disappoint. It's fun to walk into the store to see so many varieties of cupcakes, cookies and just random swag for sale. One thing that immediately struck me was the bakery was the same as 10 years ago but not. There were signs around the store with instructions such as which box will be used depending on the cupcake purchase etc. I kinda felt like possibility the store was asked some of these questions a number of times so they made signs. So off the bat I didn't want to ask too many questions about their products or make small talk. With the signs felt as though if they are tired of customers asking the same questions. But isn't that part of the experience? The person taking my order was nice and business like. I ordered seven cupcakes and two sprinkle cookies. The cupcakes were unique in flavor such as shaved ice and with old favorites such as triple chocolate, red velvet. I went to pay and the bill was almost $50. Sticker shock. The cookies were $4/each. That means cupcakes were over $5/each. The cupcakes were on the smaller side but super beautiful. They also tasted yummy but paying that much for 1 cupcake is a lot. Possibly overhead is high? I am all for supporting local businesses but prices for a cupcake are a little high. Also...possibly remove some of the signs. It really is about the total experience when buying from a store. Hope at some point they get back to the basics and realize it's about food and service.
Didn't realize how expensive my bag would be not a lot of selection on a Tuesday afternoon at 11:45am. Didn't feel too welcomed when walking in. Looks a little rundown as you walk in. I was so excited to go to Hokulani's. I was just shot down when walking into the bakery and felt uncomfortable. Macha cupcake was not so great at all it was hard and dry the frosting was great. Ube, Lilikoi, Guava and Red velvet always great tasting soft and delicious. It's just not like how it was before pre covid. Hopefully things will pickup for the bakery..
Hokulani Bakery is a great place to grab a cupcake for you or someone special. Their cupcakes are heavenly pieces of expensive little cakes. I LOVE Hokulani cupcakes because they are moist, tasty, and the cream cheese topping is delicious. I tried many of the different flavors and enjoyed each of them, but my absolute go to flavors would have to be their GUAVA, RED VELVET, OR SHAVE ICE CUPCAKES. Due to inflation, the cupcake prices have gone up and now they cost $4.75 each, but if you buy 12+ more it's $4.50. You must order in advance for big orders. They also charge for little props to add to the cupcakes if you're gifting someone. They usually sell out of cupcakes by lunch time, so it's best to go early. The little bakery is located on the ground floor of Waterfront Plaza on Ala Moana Blvd. and the friendly staff offer parking validation.
Omg!! The cupcakes are now over $5 each because I got 3 for $16.50 .... It's been awhile since I had them cuz I was so dissatisfied last time. Every time I come they taste worse. This is for sure my last time! I have a bad cupcake and then a year goes by and then I kinda forget about it and decide to return. But today I'm for sure making a mental note and it's sad cuz I swear these used to be the best. Customer service is still really good cuz the shop girl was friendly, quick and efficient for sure. The worst cupcake I had today was the carrot cake and the least dry was the salted caramel. Good bye Hokulani, I'll miss you but you're a shadow of your former self!

The flavors and the ingredients are really fresh for the red velvet and guava (which is all I tried) they both had that moistness to the crumb and the sweet tanginess of the cream cheese frosting. I got the jumbo size which is basically a jumbo size muffin tin and I got the cream cheese filled inside because on top they don't do a huge amount of frosting so that's the only drawback. their guava cupcake tasted exactly like guava, so I'm curious if it was a artificial flavor or if they actually use guava to make it taste like that

Hokulani use to have a booth in the Pioneer Plaza where I would usually get a cupcake after work before I head back home. My favorites are and still the strawberry guava cupcake and their red velvet cupcake. I also picked up a few of their other flavors like their chocolate, carrot cake and ube flavors. The cupcakes aren't as moist as I remember them to be, but they do taste the same deliciousness I remember them to be. I'm usually not a frosting person and usually scrape the frosting off of cupcake, but with these cupcakes, I only wish they would add more. Their cream cheese frosting is top notch IMO. Definitely still one of the top bake shops on my list. I wish there were more locations. Definitely miss their location in Pearlridge Shopping Center. None the less, if you're ever in the area, definitely worth checking out their cupcakes.

I'm happy that I was able to come here recently to get a cupcake because they usually close out or sell out early. I came here after my dentist appt and there were only few red velvet cupcakes left so I bought one. Their cupcakes are so yummy and moist. read more
First time here, apparently cup cake is their specialty. I'm really not a pastry person. But when I tasted the mint chocolate chip frosting....it was light and delicious. The cup cake was very moist too. We be trying their Red Velvet cup cake soon, one of their best seller. They been in business for 20years. Baking up happiness... One thing that I have in common with Hokulani Bakeshoo is their hours of operations...sigh! So nabbing these treats has always been a struggle as the last time I was able to do so was when I had jury duty to ease the annoyance and it's been forever since then. Fast forward to tonight the first of the Taste of Aloha Night Market right on the lawn of Waterfront Plaza which will be happening every second Saturday of the month so hoping that will give me greater chance of the sweet treats. Loved that they had a combination pack though I just wanted the single $6 Guava and Red Velvet and decided to get one of each, love that it's packaged individually so it's totally shareable, the vibe at this market was quite crowded but with the music playing it gave it such a festive and fun night and hope they will be here next month as well. I never got over the cupcake craze. Come on, they're so cute! And unless you have enough people to eat a whole cake, single serving cupcakes mean you can indulge without having leftovers for a week. At room temperature, Hokulani's cupcakes are soft and sugary sweet. Red velvet is the most popular flavor, but don't rule out banana, lemon toffee crunch, or salted caramel. And if you're a fan of iced sugar cookies, they make those too. In totally fun shapes just waiting for you to bite their heads off. For yourself, or as a treat to share, make the trip to Hokulani. read more

This has seriously been bugging me since I bought a red velvet cupcake here the other day. FIVE DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS!!! I posted on my FB page and someone asked if a child made this. Ridiculous. Whole Foods red velvet is triple the size and $2.50. I'm a lover of small businesses but this is just a rip off. read more
Great cupcakes, you can't go wrong. Yes, a little expensive but it's in restaurant row and it's a local business so I'm okay with occasionally spending for the goods. I look at cupcakes as an occasional treat and not a daily occurrence...most days. They have both a wide range of traditional flavors such as red velvet and salted caramel and more local ones such as ube and lilikoi. They had a promo 6 cupcakes for $20. It is cheaper than ala carte and you get to try more flavors. read more

Was in the area for an appt few doors down and had to drop in for the short bread cookies. They had seasonal frosted cookies for Thanksgiving it was so cute but I prefer the unfrosted. Crumble cookies bag was $2.75 Reg shortbread cookies $7. read more
I Used to love coming to Hokulani bake shop @ Resturant row few years back, cause I liked their RED VELVET flavored cupcakes it was so soft and moist, but recently just paid a visit back to Hokulani bake shop on 7/11/19 Thursday and man sad to say their CUPCAKES were so DRY, Was a bit disappointed specially when you expect the cupcakes to be very moist and soft and for what you pay for each cupcake $3 or more per cupcake you expect to be good. So just wanted to share this story with the yelp world, so about 1230pm I entered the bake shop and there was no customers besides me, so when I entered there was just one WORKER behind the counter, and while I entered the shop, the worker behind the counter who's name I believe was Michelle, didn't even greet me while I entered and she just literally just sat behind the counter for a bit while I was looking at the cupcakes in the display window case. It's like sheesh where is the LOVE when customers come into the bake shop. So SAD straight up. Cupcakes / what I bought was 4pcs Of red velvet cupcakes 1 pc of banana cream cupcake 1 strawberry guava Cupcakes range from $3.50 and up. Parking / you can park inside the building structure and ask for validation. Not sure if I'll be paying this bake shop another visit anytime soon. Sheesh Talk about where is the ALOHA read more
They had this sample pack at the Exchange in Pearl Harbor for bread week. They are absolutely delicious I don't know how I don't know about this place. Since I love me a cupcake. Especially with cream cheese frosting. They do the cream cheese frosting right!! I will be seeking out this bakery soon read more
Hokulani was my 1st cupcake shop I discovered many years ago. I don't always get to come here so it was a real treat to stop inn as I headed home after a class. They only had 1 filled cupcake and to my surprise it wasn't as "filled" as I expected. The cupcake itself was delicious so I didn't really care that it wasn't that filled but c'mon if your going to say filled please fill her up . The ladies were nice and helpful. read more

Hokulani cupcakes are worth being the wonderful dessert that breaks your diet. I know so because I've done so many times. If you're not familiar with restaurant row, it's a couple of great small business restaurants tucked away inside Waterfront Plaza. You can find Hokulani in the center court, by the bar. The interior itself is actually smaller than you'd think for such a successful cupcakery. But don't mistake that for mediocrity... their TV appearances are completely justified by their cupcakes' quality. Among one of many of my connoisseur crusades, red velvet is one that is near and dear to my heart. It's my go to flavor for cupcakes always. These cupcakes are some of the best I've had, especially the red velvet. Another favorite of mine is the lilikoi. In an unsuspecting manner, I've passed by here many times, waltzing in and buying cupcakes unintentionally like some kind of weird fever dream. Hokulani has a magical cupcake pull that cannot be resisted. If you find yourself in the area and discover you are literally gravitating towards this plaza in an uncontrollable manner, it's probably this cupcakery. If not, you should still try it out. read more
By far the best cupcakes on island plus they're local. Always feels great supporting local. They do have a great selection of cupcakes, I highly recommend placing an order before hand or going in early because they do sell out fast. Keep in mind they do have seasonal flavors as well so feel free to ask about them, you won't be disappointed. There is no wrong thing to pick when deciding which cupcake you want to eat they all have their own unique taste and to me I love them all. read more

I picked up a six pack since I was at RR for my Honey's appointment. I remember Hokulani from back in the day... Sadly the orange Creamsicle that I ate was too dense and hard for me... cornbread texture but good flavor. Not what I want in a cupcake. hopefully the other five in the box are fluffier and less dense... read more
We ordered gender reveal cupcakes from here and they always come through. They helped us celebrate the fact that we are having a girl! The red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting is my favorite. They were able to add colored buttercream frosting to the middle to tell us the gender. It was ready by the agreed upon pick up time. read more

Wondering how they were able to win a cupcake championship.....I ended up buying six cupcakes today for a meeting I had to attend. So I had six different taste testers and asked all of them what they thought. (We had the red velvet, coconut, orange, double chocolate). Every single one of them said their cupcake was dry, taste was good, but overall just OK. To me, the size was small for the price. The last time I was there I thought the cupcake was way too sweet. Nicely packaged and a good gift....but there are better tasting cupcakes at Aloha Confectionary and Cake Couture. Service was just OK and not very friendly. Whenever I'm in need of delicious cupcakes, there's no doubt as to where I'm going to go. Always such a wide selection of delicious and unique cupcakes and decorated cookies. My fave is the salted caramel and now the POG. The detailed slippers was so cute! read more
Wow, the selection and creativity... These cupcakes make excellent gifts or eats for a party or office. While they had an extensive selection of chocolate cupcakes, we went for more of the citrus and POG flavors that were available. I also noticed that one of the cupcakes were so detailed they had slippers on the top. So cute... Anyways, the lemon crunch cupcake was a perfect combo of creamy frosting and crunchy toppings. I've noticed that many cupcake places overload on the frosting to the point where its overly sweet and buttery. This place definitely understands their ratio to the cupcake. Long story short, I would definitely recommend grabbing at least six to sample different flavors and share with others (only if you want to)... read more
