Love their pastries here. Not too sweet and they are a work of Art! They also sell yummy coffee and matcha drinks here. I got their fruit tart from here and it was yummy! They didn't skimp on the fruits. Great spot to come for an afternoon dessert and caffeine pick me up!

Perfect is not a word I use in reviews...on purpose. So many factors are involved in making decisions for our food choices, not to mention the establishments decisions and even the time of day! Having said that....this is the perfect Japanese bakery for me....here's why... This special shop produces well balanced, beautiful product. From the fruit tarts, to the fuwa puffs, the desserts here never disappoint. Theses delicate delights are light...not overly sweet or heavy handed. The ingredients are so fresh and the cake is airy and not heavy. Second, the attention to detail is very evident here. From the eclairs to the individual desserts, you can tell the same amount of effort went into each individual dessert, as it did in a dessert for a family or wedding. Thirdly, the customer service is professional, but warm at the same time. I have walked in for something quick, and placed an order for a week in advance, and the service was always gracious, purpose-driven, and respectful. Here are two of my favorites... The fruit tart here has been elevated to an art form. Fresh, creamy, and colorful...this dessert is the perfect addition for almost every occasion. As delicious as it is visually stunning, this dessert is something I crave. I am new to the fuwa fuwa puff, but I am now addicted. A soft ball of goodness, this tasty concoction is contrast of textures and flavors. Beautiful creamy vanilla custard is wrapped in delicate sponge cake....and it tastes like heaven! Happiness doesnt get better than this! As you have probably guessed already, but this is my place when I am surprising loved ones, or trying to impress new ones. Please enjoy my secret weapon!

What a surprise. My foodie friends wanted to celebrate my birthday so we got together for a breakfast buffet earlier this month where one of my friends who I haven't seen in ages surprised all of us with a jaw-dropping whole fresh fruit tart from cakeM. Located on the 3rd floor of 808 Center, cakeM offers Japanese style desserts that brings Japan to Hawaii. The attention to usage of quality ingredients and perfecting execution is definitely an attention getter. I've passed by cakeM many times when I have dinner at their neighbor Sushi Murayama but they are already closed when I go to dine at Murayama. After our Japanese breakfast buffet, I overheard a conversation between Steven U. and Nadine C. mentioning dessert and to ask the restaurant staff to bring "it" out. "It" was this jaw dropping whole fresh fruit tart from Steven U. He mentioned to our group where it's from and sure put cakeM on the map. I was in awe as I witnessed in front of me fresh fruits of strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, sliced green grapes, raspberries and mango (?) beautifully arranged on a tart crust. It had a layer of pastry cream under the fruits that all sat on a golden brown sweet pastry crust. Just amazing. Absolutely stunning. After my friends sang "Happy Birthday" song to me, I volunteered cutting this masterpiece. The restaurant provided a knife and a pie server. Thanks Steven U. for assisting me as you clearly need 2 people to serve this. I paid special attention to serve slices still in tact with the fruit still on top. It seems like each piece of fruit was inspected prior to being used. It was perfect. No blemishes, defects nor imperfection to my eye. They were appealing and sweet. The pastry cream brought a smooth and rich component to the dessert. The crust provided a nice texture contrast that had me reach out with my fork for another bite. Nom nom. To top this, we were also given a Fuwa Fuwa puff. I was stuffed by now and took my puff home and ate it a few days later. The puff had a unique spongey exterior with a light cream inside. It had just the right sweetness, yet with a rich, creamy texture. I was sad when the puff disappeared in front of me. It was really good. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried cakeM and looking forward to my visit here. A HUGE Mahalo to Steven U. for introducing us to cakeM. Your generosity and thoughtfulness blew me away. Truly blessed and grateful.

Delicious fresh fruit tart... enough for ten of us to share! Excellent crust!

Birthday dessert in Honolulu, Hawai'i... Our friend, Steven, insisted on bringing the Birthday "cake" for our celebration. He raved about cakeM at the 808 Center on Sheridan Street. Steven picked up the 9-inch Fruit Tart to share amongst ten people. It was the right size! It came in a sturdy box and a durable bag! The packaging was elegant and practical! When the box was opened and we saw the colorful, fresh fruits, everyone's eyes grew wider and there was a silent hush as we gazed at the beauty of this amazing dessert! When we each got our slices, we discussed how excellent the crust was: thick, but flakey and buttery! The strawberries, grapes, mango, blueberries, and raspberries were the perfect contrast to the creamy, custardy filling! It wasn't too sweet, but rich enough to satisfy the sweet tooth! Thank you, Steven, for this marvelous treat! I will make sure to stop by the shop on the third floor of the 808 Center and grab some other decadent treats! Note: we added our own birthday candle

We ordered a cheesecake from here online for our thanksgiving dinner. The cheesecake was light and airy. Not too sweet or tart. The berries were a nice addition to the flavor. Price was reasonable, especially when compared to the prices of cheesecake now days. Staff are very friendly. If you are just picking up, there are 15 minute stalls at the entrance of the parking. Take the elevator upstairs or use the stairs. They are located right at the top of either one. There are some seats inside the bakery if you want to stay. It is very clean, but a little tight.

I was going to get sushi when I noticed this cute little shop on my way and decided to take a look inside. At first I only noticed the drinks, but then saw that there was a bunch of pastries. I decided to get their fruit tart. The fruit was perfectly proportioned with fruits and the tart itself. Not sure if I would get it again for nine dollars, but it maybe I'll try something else next time. There are a couple of tables and chairs where you could enjoy your drink and pastry if you want.

Came here for two tiny cakes for a birthday. A strawberry shortcake and a tiramisu cup. Needed only 2 portions, so the sizes were perfect. However, they were just a little bit smaller than I thought they'd be when looking at the photos before stopping by. $8 for a small cake cup or teeny tiny shortcake, I would not do again. The strawberry shortcake was very simple and cute, and pretty basic in taste and texture. Was in need of a bit more strawberries inside though. The tiramisu brought this rating way down. It was SO strong and SO wet. The bottom was like a soaking wet sponge that was sitting in a puddle. The mouthfeel was very unpleasant. Good service, very nice lady. Cute interior, though very small.

The best cakes in Hawaii!! Can park across the street at the Walmart parking garage... favorites are the chocolate cake and Mont Blanc!!

Cake M is located on the 3rd floor of 808 center, near the stairs and I'm so glad I came. I wanted to buy a little sweet for my birthday and I love panna cotta! ***What I ordered **Mango Panna Cotta (9/10) ~ I'm not a fan of the mango texture, but it went really well with the panna cotta. There was a perfect mix of refreshing and creamy taste to it all! I really do wish that they added a little more of the mango syrup/layer with the panna cotta! But it was super good and not too sweet! Overall, I actually bought the last one (so glad I did)! It was really good! Although, it was on the pricey side. Honestly, I wouldn't mind coming back! :)

Tried this place to pick up a small beautiful birthday cake and assorted extra pastries for my neighbor after seeing numerous checks in by fellow Yeeps. Beautiful yes! Ordering online easy. I inadvertently put the wrong pick up date for my neighbors pastries and was concerned about not receiving a reply. No worries because I found out they are not open everyday and pick up date was easily corrected. After reading reviews I found out you can park in one of the stalls & mention you are running upstairs to pick up an order. I love that the cakes come in assorted sizes. I was even able to purchase a mini size for my neighbor to try. Cake M suggests you order at least 2 days in advance & check their website for specific pick up times. Everything is nicely packed for safe transport. I bright a cooler with me for the drive home. Give Cake M a try if you are looking for Japanese style, not overly sweetened desserts. Support this local small business by ordering for your next special event!

One of my favorite Japanese cake shops on the island. As soon as you step into the shop you'll feel like you're back in Japan. Not only are the cakes so cute and perfect, but the staff is so nice and their cake selection, while not as wide as other shops, is always carefully curated depending on seasonality with a decent variety of fruity, rich, etc. My go-to is always the mont blanc and japanese cheesecake but we recently tried their Chocolate Cake which had layers of decadent yet light chocolate cake, ganache and cream. The Pumpkin Cheesecake was a seasonal cake. i loved the different textures speckled throughout and the fact that it wasn't super sweet! And the Mixed Fruit Tart was the prettiest of them all with different fresh fruits, custard and a thick almond tart crust i've gotten my birthday and graduation cakes from here and they seriously do NOT disappoint!

"Ack! I think I bit into a lemon!" Beautiful looking, Japanese cakes and tarts made the Japanese way with little to no sugar, instead relying on the natural sweetness in milk, cream, and fruits to make a sinful indulgence. Great! But this isn't Japan where strawberries, grapes, mangoes, melons are grown with care to yield more than twice the sugar content. The result... Cheesecake - Perfectly baked. Creamy yet airy. Very tart from the cream cheese. Sweetness comes from the nuts in the crust and the rosemary infused whipped cream. Mango tart - Exactly. Tart! Straight up sour. Any sweetness in the crust and pastry cream is wiped out by a lemon / lilikoi glaze and sour mango. Extremely acidic. Fruit torte - Better. An outstanding almond crust, gently sweet almond cream and wonderful custard cream topped by orange supremes, strawberries, blueberries and grapes. Good, though using all grapes (sweetest of the fruits) would be a huge improvement. Cream puff - Outstanding. Barely golf ball size but perfect in every respect. A light and airy puff sweetened only by the dusting of powdered sugar filled with a delectable, lightly sweet custard cream. I could eat a dozen if they weren't $3 each. Advance ordering required for whole cakes. See website. Everything is made fresh daily. Prices reflect the commitment. Three slices plus a couple of cream puffs inclusive of tax and tip $38. Sadly, the "cute shop" in earlier reviews is no more, replaced by COVID era decor (tables and chairs stacked on one another pushed to the corners and boxes of take out supplies everywhere). It is not polite in Japanese culture to pass judgment on another's efforts because of personal preference so...

Not worth it. Would pass in both the best seller fruit tart and eclairs
    Chris J.

I'm shocked over the many high starred reviews. This was below average especially given the price and size. The eclairs' choux pastry was mushy wet texture. The green tea and caramel cream were just meh. I'm sure it was an old batch. Thought I was going to have the world's best eclairs but sadly not a chance. Probably one of the worst I've had. Their best seller fruit tart was below average as well. I've had many fruit tarts to last me a lifetime but thought a $9 tiny one would at least be decent. Tart was hard and old, custard was meh. Only thing that saved it was the fruits. No greeting when you entered and indifferent service

    front damage from deflating cake.

The mango panna cotta was my second favorite which included the mango bits on top - a nice touch - and the cream nice and rich. Lemon tart had an odd taste to it. Should have went with the mush peach tart that didn't look as appetizing but probably better. The macarons were my least favorite especially the yuzu and passion fruit flavors that didn't taste anything like those fruits. For $2.50 I wish they were better and not as dry. I would get it more if they actually answered the phone, and when they do actually accepted my order.

Personally, I thought it was a steal. For three people, four courses, it came out to $159 without tip. I highly recommend tipping. With only one person serving everyone and cashing everyone out, she did amazing. I had the cream of corn as my first course. It was absolutely delicious with a nice touch of heat. My second course was the baked oysters. I would honestly rate this the lowest of all four courses I had, around a 6. Very fresh. My third course, the entree, was the Seafood Brioche. The sauce was delicious! A very nice variety of seafood. I found myself surprisingly full by the time dessert came. I had the Azuki Bean Haupia and ordered the Le Café as an extra. These were so good. The tables and chairs are seated right outside the cafe (still within the building), the desserts situated inside the cafe. It's a very relaxing vibe. I would definitely come here again. Tiny pyramid, the setting, the food, I think it brings to mind the words, Casual Elegance.

Tiny Pyramid is also a restaurant so I decided to have lunch here. I ordered the House Pizza (spicy) and the blend of all the flavors didn't really blend well. It was also quite oily and not spicy at all even though it's mentioned as spicy. I also ordered the green curry. It was wayyy to watery to be a curry and the shape of the rice being a pyramid is cute but its portion is so small, it left my friend hungry. Once again it was also too oily. As for the pastries, the citrus tart was a let down. The filling was not a cream of sort but GELATIN. I've never had a tart like this before and im disappointed that I did. One that I did like was their signature chocolate pyramid, their signature pastry of course. Just like some of the reviews, the service was average. The staffs do take awhile to connect with you for whatever reason but when they do they are friendly.

Somehow, it ended up being the same price, if not cheaper, than the Baskin-Robbins by my house. That alone threw me off. Then the ice cream showed up... and now I'm suspicious for a different reason. Flavor was a straight 10 out of 10. Not "it's hot so I'll take anything cold" good, actually good. Like someone back there cares about your happiness. Portion size? Out of control. These guys are not measuring anything. It felt personal. Like they saw me walk in and said "yeah, give this guy the full send." And listen, I've never once in my life said "that's too much fudge." That's not a sentence I use. But they pushed me to the edge. Sundae came out looking like it was melting under pressure. Fudge dripping down the sides, chocolate overflowing like it had somewhere to be. I couldn't even take a picture because it was already escaping. One wrong move and I'm wearing it. At one point I wasn't even eating it anymore, I was just trying to contain the situation. This is exactly how a sundae should be. Messy, overloaded, slightly stressful, and 100 percent worth it. I'll be back... but next time I'm bringing backup.
