The ruby Dubai crepe was amazing! Loved how the raspberry and orange fruity flavors balanced out the more decadent pistachio sauce. The knafeh was really crispy and gave the whole dessert a nice texture! The crepe was also very thin while still being intact holding everything inside. I've never had a dessert like this and it's worth a try! Both Victor and the lady were very friendly. Even though there were quite a few people at the restaurant with only 2 staff members, the wait for food wasn't too long. He seemed pretty efficient with the preparation! Hubby and I were out and about in the Mccully area today and finally had a chance to check out the test kitchen in Mccully shopping center. Our first stop was this gem of a bakery. We got there before 12pm, which is there open time, and saw Bronson busy decorating a cake. He greeted us was a lot of Aloha. We chatted for a bit and he told me that they were out of a few things but there were still lots of yummy things to try. Since we hadn't eaten yet I didn't want to go too crazy with the treats. We got a strawberry cupcake and on original cheescake. Let me just say WOW! When I tell you that cupcake was soft that is just the beginning. It basically melted in my mouth. The cream was delicious and tasted just like fresh strawberry. Bronson did make it a point to let me know that this particular cupcake was dairy free along with several other flavored cupcakes they offered. It was topped with fresh strawberry and had a small amount of strawberry jam inside. It was amazing! The chesscake was Japanese style. It was light and fluffy an oh so good. This store had its soft opening in October 2022 and has expanded to another store in Kapolei August 2023. 85 hails from Taiwan and started business in 1984. They offer quality baked goods using Asian ingredients such as taro, mochi, sesame and pork sung (floss) and boba. There's also an extensive list of hot and cold drinks you can get here. There are over 1000 locations internationally with most of them in Taiwan and China. They can also be found in Hong Kong, Australia and USA. Like most bakeries, limited quantities of baked goods are offered during the morning and highly recommended to come here earlier in the day for a better selection. Most of my visits are sadly in the afternoon after work but my last visit was memorable. My friends and I just got through celebrating a friend's birthday at a nearby restaurant where on the way back to my car I made a pitstop to here. As expected the shelves were quite bare with limited offerings but they had what I wanted: marble taro. I had just eaten dinner and was full but picked one for the road and paired it with a taro lavender latte. I literally had no room in my stomach even though over an hour had passed since I got home so I had the roll and drink for breakfast the next morning. The marble taro roll was just as good as I remembered. It was soft with a nice texture contrast with the creamy, mashed taro paste in between. It had just a good amount of sweetness where I could indulge and not feel guilty. The star had to be the taro lavender latte which I didn't have high expectations for. I like to sample drinks with lavender as I do enjoy floral essence as it's not offered at many places. I had requested my drink to be 50% sweet, which was the right decision as I need to watch my sugar intake. Service was above average. It wasn't busy when I arrived so the line moved quickly. The guy at the counter was energetic and courteous which made my experience there pleasant. It was past 7pm where there were some people utilizing the dining area but it was quiet. 85 can be very lively during peak hours with heavy foot traffic. Overall, I'm a fan of 85 where I'll be sure to stop by again. Just need to be careful as my numbers for sugar and cholesterol are being monitored and I'm currently on medication.

Moving stuff around in our bags the loaf of bread fell out of its bag and directly onto the restaurant floor. COME ON GUYS. USE A TWIST TIE ON YOUR PRODUCTS. Same thing for the small item we bought. Thus, when I saw the surprise bag direct from the bakery on the app, I had to get one for my mom. What a great find these Happy Cakes are, best way to describe them is like a Hawaiian fruit cake from childhood memories with only the tasty bits in them. A tasty dense cake with little chunks of pineapple, coconut shaving and Mac nuts in them. The round one even has some rum it. Definitely a winner in my opinion! Perfect size also.

The seasonal strawberry puff also had fresh strawberry slivers on top the cream. Price range between $5-6 for each. They also had a small variety of other delicious looking desserts in their case. I really their black sesame soup and milk pudding with black sesame paste. I'd love to see them further expand their menu into some of my favorites like tofu pudding or desserts incorporating durian. Overall, I'm a fan of this place! I feel like Chinese desserts are very underrated and under appreciated. My only major gripe about this place are the hours. I know it is Chinatown and it can be sketchy at night, but a dessert shop closing at 6pm is really leaving a lot of potential business on the table.
