Came in early afternoon on a Monday with no line or crowd except for 1 person studying. I was bummed to hear they had no ice cream cakes available. The flavors offered were great. This last visit to Via I got a pint of the Fire Horse Gau, three Rum n Raisin sandwich cookies, and a double scoop. I went a little overboard, I think... The matcha is outstanding. I will definitely return for this. The gau flavor is interesting; I'm glad I got to try it but I don't think I'd get it again next year if it's available. After eating dinner in the surrounding area we decided to have some dessert at Via Gelato. This is the first time I came here and they had a great variety of flavors to choose from. They even have coffee (I considered affogato). They limit you to sampling up to 2 flavors but that should be more than enough to have you decide what you want. All of their flavors are homemade and they have so they have something for everyone. Ultimately I decided on a Guava sorbet with Vanilla Bean gelato. The flavors on both of these were pretty spot on to what you would think it would be. You have the option of cup or a variety of cones; I went with a cup since I was pretty full from dinner. The girls who were working were very friendly and willing to assist you any way the can. When I asked to try the Guava she had told me that it was one of her favorites because of how genuine it tasted. As for seating inside the shop they had maybe 20 available seats but they also had a couple benches outside the store to sit as well. Depending on how and where you sit the volume level will vary but it's not any louder than I would expect it to be. There is ample parking available in either of the paid lots. I highly recommend if you are in the area. I'm looking forward to going back so I can try other flavors as well as the affogato. read more

We came by here after dinner with a big group of 13. The AC inside was pretty bad, it honestly felt like it wasn't even on, so we ended up eating our gelato outside. At least the gelato itself was really good! I got the Oreo cookies and cream and the texture was nice and creamy, which I really enjoyed. As for the service, that's a completely different story. I understand handling a big group can be tough, but what happened here was unnecessary. One of the scoopers mentioned 4-5 times that there was a two-sample maximum, which was fine by me. I got one sample, stepped aside to let my girlfriend try hers, and when I came back for my second (and last) sample, he hit me with "isn't this your 3rd sample?" First of all, who cares if it was--those samples are like 10 cents worth at most . Second, we had a group of 13 people, which is a lot of business for one stop. A small thing like that shouldn't be made into such a big deal. Thanks to that service, they ended up losing 13 future customers. read more

I tried the Haupia and rocky road combination. The Haupia was light and the flavor tasted of fresh coconut milk. The rocky road was sweet and overwhelmed the haupia flavor. Honestly I thought I would love this place so much more. It's probably partially my fault but it wasn't living up to the "hype". I got the lilikoi sorbetto and it was meh. Just okay. I asked the young girl at the counter some questions and she said if you like tart you'll like the lilikoi one which I already kinda selected from the fridge. Was it tart? Not at all! Maybe my definition of tart is different but I was expecting like an Italian ice kinda citrusy flavor. I don't blame the girl at the counter because it's my fault that I didn't pick something else however the lilikoi lacked in the tartness but also the flavor. I was disappointed especially since a pint is $14. I went in there looking for the Guava sorbet. Tried the special which was the mountain apple and my mom was like you should have got the yuzu. Oh i recently discovered that I'm lactose intolerant so that's why I was so excited to try this place. I'll come back but I'll explore more options next time.
