I want to say that this is an underrated spot but sweet creams used to be soooo popular around when they first opened. I remember coming by here with my friends years ago and enjoying their rolled ice cream but never got the chance to swing by, so when I got the opportunity to try it again I wasn't sure what to expect. I got the u-be baby and my friend got the monkey n around. Both were SOOO good and as someone who LOVES ube, I really enjoyed my order, and my friend really liked his too. The ube flavor honestly isn't super strong, leaning more towards a simple sweet creamy (lol) flavor. I would really recommend trying this spot out if you have never had rolled ice cream before. It is a bit on the pricier side, but I'm sure the gimmick of them chopping up the mix-in and rolling out the creams is likely what causes that inflation (and you can also customize If you wanted). read more

Writing this review for the second time because they truly deserve it! Sweet Creams is hands down the best ice cream roll spot in town and I just had to come back to write a more detailed review. We've been coming here every now and then and it never disappoints. My son always goes for Cookies & Cream it's his all-time favorite! I personally love their coffee ice cream it's smooth, rich and has just the right balance of sweetness. The rolled ice cream is made fresh on the cold pan right in front of you which is such a fun experience every single time. After that awful debacle with another rolled ice cream place out in Kahuku, I needed to prove to my friend that rolled ice cream is a delicacy not to be missed! Thank goodness for Sweet Creams at Ala Moana! They are open late for all those people, like me, who need an ice cream fix past sun down. I got the pineapple 5-0...just the right amount of sweet, tart and li hing! Yes, I'm declaring li hing as a flavor category all on its own! Even after the 20 min ride back home, my ice cream rolls were still rolls, which made me very happy. I also ordered the cold brew and the frozen choco...which I assume were delicious because they quickly disappeared. The staff there is awesome, cheery, welcoming, and FAST! When Sweet Creams first opened many years ago, they always had a long line out of their door. With their limited space and lack of seating, this spot was always a pass on my list of desserts and I never gave much thought to them. However, they've endured throughout the years and are still open to the public. The long lines have gone away, but the ice cream has stayed the same. The menu is large and they've added drinks to their line up. The rolled ice cream is freshly made and with the boom and burst of the rolled ice cream bubble, it looks like Sweet Creams is one of the last rolled ice cream shops hanging on. Parking is easily secured in their private lot and there are 2-3 smaller tables that you can sit at to enjoy your ice cream immediately. We came upon this store on Kona behind Ala Moana SC. It's not the usual ice cream shop that they scoop out the ice cream for you. Heard about this place so since we were in the area, decide to give them a try. Read in a Yelp review that a kiddie cup was enough for them so ordered 2...they were right! I think the amount of rolled ice cream in each cup is maybe equivalent to a scoop of ice cream and you get 4 toppings...we were satisfied. I ordered "Cold Brew Coffee" that has crushed Oreo cookies, chocolate chip, a Biscoff cookie and condensed milk. They poured their Local Cold Brew Coffee in the Original Base cream mixture. That coffee ice cream was really good! I never tried Biscoff cookies before...I'm now a fan! As for the Oreo dust and chocolate chips, it was ok but I think I want to choose something else the next time. I did a "Create Your Own" for my husband. I ordered the Original Base with bananas, Andes mint, Oreo cookie and graham cookie. He enjoyed it! They have soooooo many topping choices. Strawberry shortcake is my favorite flavor. I think this is the only ice cream roll shop on island. They're not skimpy on toppings as you can see in the picture. Ice cream isn't super sweet either. Coolest ice cream shop where they freshly make your ice cream right before your eyes and served it up in rolls. The cream is mixed and infused with other ingredients and then placed on a flat plate chilled by nitrous oxide. Ingredients are chopped or mixed and flattened to create fresh ice cream. Then the fun part begins. The fresh ice cream is scrapped off into rolls and placed into bowls, topped with additional goodies and served. I was reluctant to get the strawberry shortcake cause I'm not a strawberry fan, but when chopped in it was amazing! It was light and not overpowering with a strawberry taste. The fruity pebbles, strawberry milk drizzle, and graham cracker took it to another level. My friend had the cold brew and thought it tasted just like coffee The store has some seating inside and outside. They are located across from Ala Moana Center on Kona Street. Just look for Thebus rest area and Sweet Cream is just opposite. The parking area is shared with other businesses and is quite small, but worth it. There's always parking in the mall. Great variety for rolled ice cream! It reminds me of coldstone, where they have menu items that are already preset, so you know it's good. And, if you want to build your own, you can start with a base price and add up to 4 toppings for free! Additional toppings past the 4th are 75 cents each. I shared the Minty Dream and Cold Brew Coffee, both keiki size, which honestly was a decent single adult portion. The rolled ice cream was delicious and melted surprisingly slow despite the warm weather, which was nice. The service is on the slower side because they make the bowls one at a time, so even if you had 2 bowls under one name, they make one first before moving on to the second one. It's fine if you have time to hang out but maybe not ideal for 2-3 people because you'd be done eating your own before everyone gets theirs. Also, note that sitting on the stools outside the ramen place isn't allowed. So, maybe Sweet Creams should have their own outdoor seating then since they don't allow more than 4 customers in the store? read more

This unassuming little ice cream shop sits quietly on the side of the street tucked away Is in a Mini mall and as you walk up to it then you realize there are people waiting to get ice cream. Because of covid people were very respectful and only a couple at a time would enter the premises. But when you do a vision of wonderful delights awaited. You could select pretty much any topping you wanted on a full range of ice creams. The creamery is on the island and they use the fresh cream to make their own ice cream. I selected my flavor ... the Japanese Ube ice cream carefully. Ensuring that I would have something that I wouldn't normally get at home. They scoop some out of the refrigerator unit and put it on a big slab of cold marble. As they pressed it with these giant spatula's it flattened out onto the stone and then like a knife's edge they pushed along the underside of it and as they pushed it would roll and curl. It is lifted into these wonderful little Rolls of sweet delight. Kids like coming there too and it's cute because they have little step stools that they can step up on and watch the process of selecting the ice cream and how they prepare it for them. It's like mini- theater for children. If you don't see what you're craving and feel adventurous you can certainly build your own: Pick your base: - Original (milk) - Non-dairy base (soy milk) - Matcha base (both option available) - Hot Cocoa base - Mint base Then pick four toppings weather inside and/or on top, which is quite incredible knowing they have a non dairy option is great and they do ask if there is an allergy as well so they're very conscious of your sensitivity as well which is great. It's located behind Yung Yee Kee and Burger King in this small plaza right in between Manichi Ramen and Taste Tea on Kona Street. There's a small narrow parking lot but could get very busy. The menu expanded quite a bit from the last time I've been. And the very first thing I saw on the menu was the Ube-be Baby. HAD TO GET IT. Love my ube too much to pass on it. My GF and I recently went after a nice dinner at Manichi which was next door. We decided to get the matcha and the cold brew keiki sized cups. Well, it was ok. Nothing special in my personal opinion. The thing that kind of made me do a double take and give a 3 instead of a 4 or 5 star review was the young lady helping us. She was staring at us when we looked at the menu outside and immediately I could tell we were looked as a hassle. So I proceeded in a ordered and gave a big hint that I would be using the yelp coupon when checking in.....and.....she basically threw her hands up in the air and said oh well....switch and another young lady came to help. So that kind of just soured the experience.
