Stopped by Wing's Ice Cream Parlor for a quick sweet treat to cool off on a hot day. They offer some crazy unique ice cream flavors! As you can see in one of my photos on this review, they offered a flavor called "Cheezus" which was a cheese ice cream with real cheese-its in it haha! I thought it was pretty unique. Their ice cream is made in house so theyre able to get some pretty great flavors on their menu. The shop is small, but the staff is always helpful. Theyll allow you to sample some flavors if youre unsure of its crazy name! The triple scoop sampler comes on a perfect little serving plate. Easy for sharing. Since this ice cream shop is located in chinatown, parking isn't the greatest at times. There is no designated parking for this ice cream shop but you can hopefully find nearby street parking or go to a nearby parking garage. It's easiest if youre just on foot. Had to get out of the heat and decided to check out Wing Shave ice & ice cream on Maunakea street, but the entrance is on Pauahi street, so it is located on the corner of Maunakea & Pauahi street. Heading down to the ocean on Maunakea it is located on the left side of the street on Pauahi st. This is a small shop with about seating for 7-8 customers. They have lots of different homemade flavors not what you would find in a regular ice cream parlor! Sort No Samples! I tried the Peaches & Cream which was okay the flavor of the peach did not stand out it was more like a vanilla ice cream than peaches. My wife tried belly button is was Hokkaido Haskcup berries and Hokkaido ice cream, she really enjoyed it. I LOVE Wing ice cream. They always have such unique and inventive flavors. A few standouts to me have been: ginger+peanut+chili, tom kha, sage+chocolate chip, watermelon+shiso sorbet, pineapple+Thai basil sorbet... This is culinary genius!!! I'm obsessed. They update their flavors periodically, and it definitely keeps me coming back. The shop vibes/ambiance totally match the flavors in funness and whimsy. The art on the walls, the hand-drawn flavor signs, the Godzilla chalk drawing by the front door, the flavor idea board... It's such a great vibe. If you're not as into the unusual flavors, they also have classics, like chocolate, vanilla, or black sesame, and some fun-but-not-too-crazy flavors like chocolate+cherry, matcha+oreo, kinako, etc. There's really something for everyone here! I haven't tried their shave ice yet but am excited to one day. They also always have dairy-free options for the lactose intolerant folks, and they even have over-the-counter dairy relief too. I went with a double flavor single scoop- which was honestly the perfect amount of ice cream for me. The blue hawaii and black sesame is what called to me. Blue Hawaii was a coconut and vanilla flavor that reminded me of haupia and the black sesame had this nutty flavor that reminded me of peanut butter. Limited flavor, but there's an equal number of dairy and non dairy flavors. We had the pumpkin crunch, matcha sesame, and guava. Personally, I couldn't tell that the non dairy flavors were non dairy. However I heard he makes his own waffle cones so I got one to go. Definitely get a waffle cone if you get your ice cream. You cannot go wrong. The flavors are bizarre but in a good way. They blend. I had a taste of black garlic for instance and it was delicious. Of course you don't get the pungent garlic flavor but it comes through perfectly and with the richness of the ice cream it just works. There are so many flavors, but I was told there are no samples. I was not told or informed of the flight option (3 flavors) and ended up getting a single scoop of the Yuzu Green Apple and a double scoop of the tea and cookies (early grey and cookie flavor and the matcha and Oreo) - the total was $16.50 which was a lot when I could have instead spent $8.50 for the flight which I didn't know about until another customer mentioned it when I was going out the door. The flavors were pretty good. My favorite of the 3 was the earl grey - it had the best consistency. Just disappointing that the employee didn't say anything about the option for the flight when I was so undecided about options. The shop has been open for about 11 years, but this is the first time I have gone into it. They make their ice cream inside in their small kitchen. There are multiple non-dary options for those of us less fortunate people. The flavor I had was papaya (nondairy) it had floral notes that were a bit stronger than I would have liked, but it was a well made ice cream and not so strong as to be off-putting. The papaya was better than I thought it would be as a dessert. I was quite surprised! Inside is very small. So if it isn't busy, it is quite cosy. A bunch of people came in while my friend and I were finishing up, so I finished mine and left so the rest of their group could enter. This Acai was interesting as it had hints of coconut as well as the strawberry and acai flavors. I think they used coconut milk to make it nondairy. It was an unexpected flavor pairing that had me slightly confused at first, but it grew on me as I ate. My kids love this place. I love this place, we want to go back again. Walked by the shop going to dinner and saw that it was open for business so we had to save room for some ice cream. We got the tasting flight and it was so yummy. We got the almond cookie, the milk tea, and the strawberry yuzu flavor. The almond cookie had a lot of cookie pieces in it and the milk tea was very good. All of them were delicious but the best was definitely the strawberry yuzu. read more

They often have interesting flavors like calamansi cardamom or Christmas flavors in July. One of my favorites was apricot ice cream and secretly hoping they will bring it back. There's also dairy free flavors that have a coconut milk base which are yummy too. Service is fairly quick and the owner usually works at night as well. Have passed the shop a few times and it was closed....but tonight it was open, and we found that the shop opens on some nights till 9 pm!
