Easy to find, hard to find parking on the street.

Our new fav late night ice cream spot ! Ice cream is all made in house and flavors are so good ! Some of the staff is friendly. But there's this one Caucasian dude that's kinda rude the past 2 times we came.

I was having dinner next door and decided to try Castaways for dessert. They had a variety of flavors, but I ended up getting the lychee mochi in a waffle cone. I loved the chewy chunks of mochi! Service was friendly and they offered samples. There is lots of seating inside, but parking situation is unclear.

My new favorite ice cream spot! I love the lychee mochi flavor which has mochi bits inside. Their ice cream is so creamy and they have a ton of flavors that you can sample. Service is so friendly and I love that you can play games while you eat. A great hangout spot after dinner when you need dessert to finish the night.

Jordan the worker at Castaway! Great guy!

Checked out this ice cream spot and Jordan was serving us; he was down to earth, welcoming, and super helpful. Such a cheerful guy. The flavors had my mouth watering, seriously so good. I ordered a small cup with Nutella on the bottom and biscuit cookie butter, and it was incredible. This might be one of the best ice cream spots on the island. The ambiance was bright and joyful, especially with kids' drawings covering the fridge. Perfect dessert place for friends and family highly recommend visiting.

Huge portions, great price. We got lucky, when we went there was no line. But after we ordered the crowd came. The ice cream is very creamy but a little too sweet for my liking. Lots of fun flavors to try though.

Fairly new ice cream location at the corner of King Street and McCully. Nice big seating area, a piano (a sign says that you must know how to play though) and cute retro styling to boot. The ice cream is homemade and very creamy. We ordered pandan with coconut and ube flavor combination in a cup. We also tried the lychee with mochi bits. The pandan with coconut had an incredible flavor! Of course, we'd need to try the many other flavors but we'll save that for another time. Parking is very limited as it is for most businesses in the area. Service was topnotch!

Great service, the workers were helpful and nice. The shop was clean and there were lots of seating. They offered games to play, there was a piano, and claw machines. There were many flavors of ice cream to choose from and you can sample the flavors. I didn't particularly care for the ice cream after trying some flavors. I just settled on a flavor. The person I was with liked the ice cream. Just a matter of preference. Street parking. Shop is located at the corner across Moiliili Park and First Hawaii Bank.

Came in on a weeknight and the place was packed! I love that there's a lot of seating though to enjoy your treats. Tons of flavors, although about 4-5 were sold out for the day already. I'd say they have about 2 dozen or more? There was just ONE guy working that night and he killed it, excellent service. Just felt bad for him that he was manning the whole store himself. Ended up with an ice cream sandwich - mac nut cookies (great) and dark chocolate ice cream. Well, I asked for dark chocolate, but pretty very sure I got the ghiradelli chocolate instead? Which unfortunately is not what I wanted. It was too sweet for me. But the service was still great and gotta cut him some slack. The ice cream was tasty, but a lot airier than I expected it. Not very dense if that's your thing. But I'd still go back and try something else.

Stop by during our morning walk. Greeted by a very friendly gentleman whom was the owner, let us taste some flavors. I decided on the pandas coconut and strawberry delight while my friend had vanilla and ube. We sat down and enjoyed, both were satisfying and delicious. Ambiance was very pleasant. Nice to have such a nice ice cream shop in the neighborhood. Come in and support this local neighborhood business, a great place and we will be back to try more flavors.

PARKING: Street options, Isenberg is probably the best to search on. SERVICE: 10/10, they encourage sampling, and are so proud of their homemade products AMBIANCE: very casual, good for catching up, a casual date (they have board games) FLAVORS: they rotate frequently, so check them out for their latest creations

If you're craving ice cream, this is the spot to go to. They have a bunch of different flavors that you can sample before choosing. The ice cream itself has a really good, consistent flavor and even has a bit of stretch to it. They also give you a really big scoop for the price, which makes it totally worth it--especially on a hot day. Great and friendly service

Matcha Ice Cream + Lychee Mochi Ice Cream
    Rene D.

Lychee. mochi. Ice cream. Are you kidding me??? That's so perfect. The mochi was not hard at all (literally as fresh as can be like you get from the store) and the lychee flavor was delicate and just a bit tart. The matcha ice cream was delicious as well, a great contrast to the fruity lychee. Definitely an earthy, strong flavor. Employees were friendly and provided samples when I couldn't pick between a couple flavors. Parking might be difficult but you can always just go to longs, get a snack there, then go grab some ice cream afterwards (lmk if that isn't allowed). I love this place and I hope you do too!

Happy National Ice Cream Month/Day! Conversation with my son while I drove past Castaways Ice Cream and he mentioned that I would love it there for pandan ice cream, wow.-my son knows me well, haha. I finally had a chance to check out Castaways Ice Cream on a Friyay, date night with my other half. It is so close by for me, that we could even walk it during our future date nights. Parking would be the junk part here but there are lots of street parking available . It was a busy Friday night, non-stop customers which is a great thing, I met owner, Robert/ Dr. Robert, he was very friendly and I got to chat with him a bit but couldn't hear about the meaning behind his business name "Castaways", which I thought was a franchise but not, he is a also a Physician and moved here from Texas with his family. Castaways Ice Cream is made in Hawaii specializes in premium ice cream made fresh in shop and they prioritize in quality over quantity. Observing the decor at Castaway, I like how they have the # of followers they have on social media, ( Facebook & Instagram) displayed near the entrance, the piano which has a note to respect it and only play if you truly know how to play the piano, I want to test my big kids' piano skills, one day to see if they still remembered from taking piano lessons. ( I can't wait to visit for my son/daughter to go on the piano, hehe) & now back to the ice cream, I sampled a few flavors and sad news that pandan wasn't available, more reason to visit! It was hard to decide what flavors to select, but finally ended up with scoop of banana oreo (unique flavor) and coffee & a waffle cone. The verdict: nice and creamy but it was a little on the sweeter side. I hope in the future they will have water cups/provided, although bottled water is for sale. The waffle cone was fresh not stale, I enjoyed it breaking up the pieces and eating with the ice cream. Note, this place does get loud from all the noise coming from everyone talking and enjoying their ice cream. Great addition & spot to the Moilili neighborhood, congrats and welcome Castaways Ice Cream, support local and come by for a scoop, or 2 or 3!! I can't wait to try pandan and other flavors!

The finishing touches were a generous drizzle of condensed milk and fresh strawberry chunks, whose subtle tang balanced the sweetness beautifully. Homemade mochi added a soft, pillowy chew, while the lychee popping boba contributed subtle floral notes evocative of rosewater.
