Finally got the opportunity to try Henry's Place, and honestly, it is just OK. I think what threw me off was the service. I felt like we were annoying whoever was working the register with our excitement of taking pictures and videos. She even got a little upset with my sister and told her to "be quick" when opening the freezer door and to "not take any videos." So yeah, it is true with what others are saying in their reviews about not opening the freezer until you know which flavor to get. I thought they would have a pretty good amount of flavors but I kept saying the same ones during my visit, so I ended up getting a Lihing Pineapple Mango Sorbet and my sister ended up getting a Passion Orange Guava Ice Cream. Both were good, I won't deny them that, but I felt like the sorbet was heavy on the lihing flavor. The consistency was for sure smooth and it did melt pretty quickly. They are CASH ONLY or you can Venmo or Zelle. Parking might be a pain so it's best if you walk from somewhere. We tried coming back for a third time before leaving the island, but they were unexpectedly closed for the day. Parking stalls are shared by Wasabi Bistro at night, Waikiki Tea and the Urasenke Tea House that do the Japanese Tea ceremony on Saratoga Road. Wasabi Bistro and Waikiki Tea are the same owner(s). Henry's place is next door to Waikiki Tea, so they are nice to let people park there just to grab and go their frozen treats. The sorbet cup is about $9.05, but I enjoyed every bite since it was just like eating frozen mango! It was really good. I wanted to try pina-colada, lychee, and the watermelon again. This place is tucked away in the backstreets of Waikiki. Unless you are staying in one of these hotels, it might be a bit to find this place. The service is hot or miss. We came twice and one day was great and another was meh. You walk up to this place and you basically just grab what you want and pay. There's a good selection of things so I would be adventurous and try any of them. The price point seems a bit high, but the quality is definitely there. The ice cream here is very rustic- homemade. Don't expect a salt and straw or Handels. It's not rich and smooth like ice cream made in an ice cream machine. These taste more like finely blended frozen cream. Don't let this discourage you from trying because these were great. They have vegan options available as well. My favorite was the chocolate banana. It was a perfect balance of banana and chocolate flavors. Even though this ice cream is not your typical ice cream in texture, the flavors were spot on and CLEARLY fresh. My must is the papaya ice cream. Next I wish t try is the durian. My only complaint is that you have to buy a whole pint. Totally kills any idea of sampling different flavors.
