Well known freshly made ice cream place in Honolulu. In Waikiki near the outrigger reef hotel. So well known that is was featured in Japanese television. Lots of Japanese tourists every time. My must is the papaya ice cream. Next I wish t try is the durian. My only complaint is that you have to buy a whole pint. Totally kills any idea of sampling different flavors. Great for large parties, not so if it's just one or two. In the end, it is a golden gem, something I always get when in Waikiki, especially during the hot days and night. Bon appetite:) read more

Hidden Gems!!! We love discovering new places and we glad we found Henry's Place! 10|10 So unique and different with packaging and the taste of homemade ice cream. 1|10 Too bad I wasn't prepared for Cash Only but we already there :( So I used the ATM from the shop I believe because it showed on my online statement the name of Henry's Place I got charged for the fees TOTAL $8 for using their ATM. Must be careful. I got charged 2 times and it posted on my online banking statement for withdrawal $20! I wanted to love this place if I didn't have any issues about ATM fees. 8|10 This is a cool spot for ice cream and instagram pictures. read more

We were staying in the Embassy suite Hilton and would always notice a small crowd going to this small store every night. Out of curiosity, we checked it out and apparently it's very well known for their ice cream! The owner wasn't the friendliest and didn't really give us much input... so do yourself a favor and just grab any flavor ice cream from the refrigerators. We tried lychee ice cream and it was delicious! It almost tastes like it has condense milk in there. Yum! Also, did anyone else had issues with the plastic spoons? The owner gave us 3 and somehow they all broke.. maybe bring yourself a spoon for this occasion. The ice cream melt pretty fast in this warm Hawaii weather. read more

Wanted to try out this place because of the reviews and it did not disappoint! Their lychee sorbet tasted so much like lychee, I was really impressed, it was really refreshing! It's not a sorbet texture though- it's more on the shaved ice texture than ice cream, just as a heads up for anyone looking for ice cream. They only take cash and they have a bunch of other flavors that seem great too! The ice cream quickly melts in the styrofoam cup though, so make sure to eat fast read more

It's been forever since we last stopped by here. Visited late, and there were very few selections left. We decided on the Pineapple Guava Sorbet and shared it among the 3 of us. Very fruity and refreshing. Kinda steep price, though, at $9. Note: Be sure to decide what you want before opening the case or risk getting scolded. read more

Talk about a hole in the wall. This is the advantage of walking off the main drag and finding mom and pop stores. This is an ice cream and sorbet/fruit ice shop that also has snacks and sandwiches. Convenient to take to the beach. And the ice cream and fruit ice are frozen solid so they can be carried a distance without any worries of them melting. It's hard to decide which flavor to get because they all look delicious. I settled on pineapple guava to be tropical! Once softened you can taste the fruit and I can only describe it as "juicy". It's not overly sweet for me. Street parking is limited as is all of Waikiki. Please support this local business. read more

Tried it because it was featured on Instagram. It's a small place. Cashier was loud and a bit rude to the Japanese tourists in front of me. The sorbet was expensive and just alright. No wow factor. It was an okay experience and wouldn't come again. For that price, I could get cake or cookies. read more

$10, cash only for a single cup (about two scoops) The lychee flavor is very fresh and lightly creamy. They bag it up for you and provide spoons and napkins. I think this helped with walking it back to our hotel, I held it by the bags knot to avoid melting. read more

Great customer service. $10 ice cream with flavors every day. Was hoping for durian, but she said it's seasonal. A little family owned business that put a lot of love into their ice cream. My son and I had the coconut and pineapple ice cream. It was very flavorful, smoothe, a little too sweet but much better than italian ice. (It doesn't melt as quick.) I wish it was a little bigger and in better cups for $10. It was good, but idk if it's worth $10 for a tiny cup. read more

This place is so cute! It's small and family owned. These ice cream are homemade and it's one of the best ice creams I've had. There are lots of flavor varieties so there is definitely something for everyone. We got the papaya flavor ice cream (we like trying flavors not commonly seen) and it's really good! You can taste the fresh mellow sweet papaya in it! When I went there, it was lady at the counter. There is no sit down area in the shop but there are a few chairs and benches right outside. Cost per cup is about $10 after tax. Grab a cup before sunset and head to the ocean or hotel pool and enjoy the ice cold treat while watching the sun set. read more

Finally tried this spot. It's hella close to the Royal Hawaiian center and the resorts we primarily stay at for most of our Waikiki trips (halepuna, halekulani and Royal Hawaiian). This place has THE best sorbet and ice cream. We had a lot of the flavors last month bc we legit walked over like every other day for almost 3 weeks lol. It was the coconut that got me. It had chunks of shredded coconut in there and it's not too sweet and so refreshing and I couldn't get enough. Back home in Cali now and no joke- I find myself thinking about it and wishing I could have some lol I'll be back in June and I already know I'm hitting this spot up as soon as I deboard the plane lol. Our fam enjoyed the News clippings too bc we share the same surname and it's a sweet and interesting story. The only issue was a lot of our visits, there's a crazy guy who cusses at and spits on ppl and he must live close by and a few times we had to be strategic in avoiding him and more than once he was sitting in their customer only chairs and he's not nice. He literally spits on ppl often etc and I do think they may need a camera and when he's near they should call security/cops bc he's an issue for sure. Still recommend and he didn't stop us fr coming but after spit came close to our faces and our kids, we were hella aware of avoiding him which took time and effort. He was there most of the times we visited. Our fam who's local to Waikiki said he's an issue for them as well. read more

Visited Henry's place after having dinner elsewhere. We decided on this place because I've been wanting to try it and because we had first dessert nearby. Parking is non existent in Waikiki, especially around Beachwalk and on the makai side of Kūhiō, so good luck. I did see a lot of people just doing drive by pick ups of ice cream from here though... so maybe I'll do that next time. There were a lot of tourists. They're cash only. And the styrofoam cups of ice cream are $10 each. If it wasn't as good as it is, I wouldn't be considering going back. They have a bunch of fruit flavors...mango seems to be the favorite, but they have pineapple and papaya and different combinations of fruits. The soursop flavor caught my eye and I decided it was worth it to try because they seem to specialize in fruit flavors. The soursop flavor was great. It was pretty mild. My friend said it tasted like milk or calpico. They got the Ube flavor and really liked it. The guy behind the counter wasn't very friendly and the store itself looks dinky. I think if they cleaned up a bit and were a bit friendlier, it could be a local hit. read more

Been to Waikiki before, but never had a chance to pop in and I'm forever going to be a customer. Highly recommend this place to go to. There are a few fridges with ice cream and sorbets. They do have a sign that reminds you to look at what you want before opening the fridge so they don't melt. It's about $9-10 cash only depending on if you have a sorbet or ice cream. Some people think this is a high price, but honestly it's worth it. You can't really find some of these flavors and ice creams in different areas at this quality. It's a small space, but there's a little bit of seating outside. Cashiers don't really talk much so it was a quick purchase each time which I have no problem with. Both ice creams and sorbets are amazing. They have a strong natural flavor, not artificial, considering I bought more uncommon flavors. For ice creams, I've tried the coconut and durian. For sorbets, I've tried the watermelon, guava, calamansi lime, and coconut. Overall, I can't say anything for other flavors I haven't tried. The containers are all filled to the very top with no air pockets in any of the ones I've had. I've never had a problem using their plastic spoons and I've never broken any of them. Just to note, the ice creams are not as creamy as you would expect in a little bit on the icy side but honestly, I enjoyed it a lot, especially since the flavors I had are very heavy so I prefer it to be a little bit more icy to balance it out. Sorbet my favorite is the coconut sorbet, even though I actually like all these flavors and would buy again. read more

A small spot. Ice cream/sorbet is in the freezer right when you step through the entryway. Hand written signs state it is cash only and to only open the freezer when you've decided on your flavor(s). I tried jackfruit. Pros: Lots of flavor options. Cons: The ice cream is more icy than creamy, and price point is pretty high for what it is - a small styrofoam cup; I believe it was around 12 oz. Overall, I enjoyed it since it didn't feel overly sweet/heavy. However, it does feel like it's more catered to tourists due to the high price point & location. read more

stumbled upon this small shop in Waikiki that offers homemade ice cream and sorbets with many different fresh fruit flavors! 'passion orange guava sorbet': when in hawaii, you of course have to get anything pog flavored! the orange and guava are prominent in this, but I enjoyed the fruit flavors. I was expecting the sorbet to be slightly creamy, but instead it was more on the icier side.. I guess I should have gotten the ice cream instead? make sure you bring cash because this place is cash only! read more

Every time I'm come to Waikiki I visit Henry's. The handmade ice cream and sandwich's are very tasty. The ham sandwich's remind me of the ones my grandma used to make. So I give this place 5 stars for food. But on my latest visit the two women who were running the store were very rude. They yelled at us for opening the freezer too long. We also asked about the expiration date on the sandwiches and they rudely said the dates are on the sandwiches. The tone coming for the two women is annoyance. And seems like they would rather not be at work. My rating of three stars is for the bad energy and service. read more

Perfect small ice cream/sorbet spot. Henry's Place has ice cream/sorbet in the freezer once when you step through the entryway. All the flavors are handwritten on each styrofoam cup. The cup is large, so it is definitely shareable. Remember to bring cash because this is a cash-only place! We walked around the Waikiki area before digging into our frozen treats. Once we got back to the hotel, it was the perfect temperature where you can scoop into it. We got the Pineapple Coconut ice cream and Passion Orange Sorbet! The Pineapple Coconut ice cream was my favorite of the two! The combo of the pineapple and coconut is a perfect match! I love the little chunks of pineapple in the ice cream. The Passion Orange was refreshing and had great flavor. I wish that the ice cream was more creamy because I felt like it was a little too icy for my liking. Also, the price of the ice cream is a little pricey. Overall, if you're in the area, I definitely recommend this spot for all the variety of ice cream/sorbet flavors! read more

I've been to Waikiki many times, and I can't believe I had never heard of Henry's Place until now! This little spot is truly a hidden gem. Their fresh fruit sorbet is absolutely incredible--the pineapple sorbet, in particular, was one of my favorite things I ate on our entire trip! It was bursting with real fruit flavor and the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. I'm not normally a dairy ice cream fan, but my partner got the mango pineapple ice cream, and it was to die for--so creamy, rich, and packed with tropical flavor. Every bite felt like a taste of paradise. One thing to note is that they're cash only, but they do accept Zelle, which was super convenient. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Waikiki just to come back here! If you love fresh, high-quality ice cream and sorbet, this is an absolute must-visit. read more

Henry's looks out of place in touristy Waikiki. You would expect a joint like this in Taiwan or remote Lanai. But consider yourself lucky if you stumble upon it's entrance. There are signs everywhere and you would half expect there to be a newspaper stand and cartons of cigarettes for sale. They only take cash or Venmo so prepare in advance if possible! All the treats are pre packed in styrofoam cups with flavors handwritten by colored sharpies, like you would expect at a 10-year Ike's neighborhood lemonade stand. Pineapple coconut ice cream Amazing sorbet like texture yet with the creaminess and body of ice cream. Both flavors shine through brilliantly but also complement each other well. There's little bonus chunks here and there. Strawberry guava sorbet Normally sorbet is too sweet for me but not here. It's balanced so well. Strawberry seed flavors (without the seed annoyance) with bright, fresh guava notes. There's a hint of watermelon there too that leaves you wanting more. Skip the dessert at the surrounding expensive restaurants and walk over to authentic Henry's - this is a must visit. I will be back at least one more time in the coming days. That's all... (Next day) No that's not all... came back after lunch and... Chocolate banana Oooh instant Disneyland frozen chocolate banana flashbacks except without the freezer burns! Another magnificent effort - the eyes say creamy chocolate while the palate says hello, banana from a tree! Guava Attention those lovers of bocadillo from Columbia and South America!! This is it! Pure guava blended into a cup. Spectacular! The guava gods are screaming in ecstasy at this genius creation. Again, no sugar overload just nothing but deep deep flavors. This is ice cream that nourishes the soul.... To be continued.... The day after that.... Lychee ice cream Sharp flavored, lychee fruit picked fresh from a tree - just frozen in time. Incredible. Again. Papaya Okay maybe a little coming back down to earth. By this time, the proprietor knows us and tells us a little about how she makes everything fresh and every night. And that there's only one Henry's. She was asked to open up another one in Newport Beach but she said it's not viable because you can't use fruit that's not local. Words of a true artist! Anyway, the papaya was more like butternut squash. Okay, but not quite at the mind blowing level we are now accustomed to. P-O-G (Passion-Orange-Guava) I know this flavor from donating blood many times and drinking this concoction in the donor canteen. Of course, this version is the real in-boxed deal, and in particular, the guava notes pop out noticeably. Fruity, refreshing, and fantastic. About 12 hours later.... Kona Coffee Ice Cream A bit lighter than what you'd expect, very milky, thick and sticky. May want to grab an extra spoon because my first one broke. Flavors are for real. Feel like I'm eating coffee beans. Seriously how will I ever look at ice cream again... That's all... read more

This place was so good we came 3 times over the course of our vacation. There's just so many flavors to try. Fave to least fav 1. Pineapple Coconut Ice Cream If you're a fan of pina colada this is your jam. Not too sweet. Perfect. I had this on my last day when I was so exhausted from touristing all I could do was lie in the hotel room and watch Harry Potter. This revived me. This is a popular flavor so don't go too late in the day if you want this. 2. Passionfruit Orange Guava (POG) Ice Cream I was really interested in this POG flavor so I was excited to try this. This was much better than any other POG things I had. The flavor was really nuanced and I could really taste the guava, which gave it a really floral aroma. I don't know what kind of cream they use but it does stick to the top of your mouth a little. When you're eating it, had a nice textured mouth feel (reminds me of guava). 3. Watermelon Sorbet We went to the shop very late in the day so options were limited. This tastes exactly how you expect it to and was honestly not really exciting for me. Actually a bit too sweet and has some food coloring? (My tongue was red afterwards) Can't wait to go back!! read more

Decent option for icecream in Waikki. They have a freezer on the left side when you enter. You will see various styrofoam containers with flavors handwritten. Hole in the wall spot. Cash only. Exotic flavors abound and the true freshness witnessed by the fact that bits of fruit morsels can be found in each decadent spoonful! We ordered the Strawberry Guava Sorbet and there was no doubt that THIS was the REAL DEAL. Spoonfuls of deliciousness with each scoop. This spot is the definition of a hole in the wall gem. Located right down the block from the beach, it's a great stop for dessert. Bring your cash and be prepared for all the yummy flavors! They're all labeled in the freezer so you can take a look and grab what you want out from the freezer once you've decided. I probably could've come back at least 5 more times to try all the flavors that I was interested in! We were pretty stuffed already so we just picked one and decided on the ube purple yam. Each one is $6 which seems steep when you look at the place from the outside but it is so worth it! It's a pretty generous portion and it's very rich & creamy so you'll get full pretty fast. Bring some people with you so you can try more flavors! They have seats outside so we were able to enjoy it right away, but you can also just walk less than 5 minutes to eat it on the beach. Some might say this place isn't really anything special, but for me I really enjoyed it.
