Talk about a hole in the wall. This is the advantage of walking off the main drag and finding mom and pop stores. This is an ice cream and sorbet/fruit ice shop that also has snacks and sandwiches. Convenient to take to the beach. And the ice cream and fruit ice are frozen solid so they can be carried a distance without any worries of them melting. It's hard to decide which flavor to get because they all look delicious. I settled on pineapple guava to be tropical! Once softened you can taste the fruit and I can only describe it as "juicy". Finally tried this spot. It's hella close to the Royal Hawaiian center and the resorts we primarily stay at for most of our Waikiki trips (halepuna, halekulani and Royal Hawaiian). This place has THE best sorbet and ice cream. We had a lot of the flavors last month bc we legit walked over like every other day for almost 3 weeks lol. It was the coconut that got me. It had chunks of shredded coconut in there and it's not too sweet and so refreshing and I couldn't get enough. Back home in Cali now and no joke- I find myself thinking about it and wishing I could have some lol I'll be back in June and I already know I'm hitting this spot up as soon as I deboard the plane lol. Our fam enjoyed the News clippings too bc we share the same surname and it's a sweet and interesting story. The only issue was a lot of our visits, there's a crazy guy who cusses at and spits on ppl and he must live close by and a few times we had to be strategic in avoiding him and more than once he was sitting in their customer only chairs and he's not nice. He literally spits on ppl often etc and I do think they may need a camera and when he's near they should call security/cops bc he's an issue for sure. Still recommend and he didn't stop us fr coming but after spit came close to our faces and our kids, we were hella aware of avoiding him which took time and effort. Been to Waikiki before, but never had a chance to pop in and I'm forever going to be a customer. Highly recommend this place to go to. There are a few fridges with ice cream and sorbets. They do have a sign that reminds you to look at what you want before opening the fridge so they don't melt. It's about $9-10 cash only depending on if you have a sorbet or ice cream. Some people think this is a high price, but honestly it's worth it. You can't really find some of these flavors and ice creams in different areas at this quality. It's a small space, but there's a little bit of seating outside. Cashiers don't really talk much so it was a quick purchase each time which I have no problem with. Both ice creams and sorbets are amazing. They have a strong natural flavor, not artificial, considering I bought more uncommon flavors. For ice creams, I've tried the coconut and durian. For sorbets, I've tried the watermelon, guava, calamansi lime, and coconut. Overall, I can't say anything for other flavors I haven't tried. The containers are all filled to the very top with no air pockets in any of the ones I've had. I've never had a problem using their plastic spoons and I've never broken any of them. Just to note, the ice creams are not as creamy as you would expect in a little bit on the icy side but honestly, I enjoyed it a lot, especially since the flavors I had are very heavy so I prefer it to be a little bit more icy to balance it out. Every time I'm come to Waikiki I visit Henry's. The handmade ice cream and sandwich's are very tasty. The ham sandwich's remind me of the ones my grandma used to make. So I give this place 5 stars for food. But on my latest visit the two women who were running the store were very rude. They yelled at us for opening the freezer too long. We also asked about the expiration date on the sandwiches and they rudely said the dates are on the sandwiches. The tone coming for the two women is annoyance. There are lots of flavor varieties so there is definitely something for everyone. We got the papaya flavor ice cream (we like trying flavors not commonly seen) and it's really good! You can taste the fresh mellow sweet papaya in it! When I went there, it was lady at the counter. There is no sit down area in the shop but there are a few chairs and benches right outside. Visited Henry's place after having dinner elsewhere. We decided on this place because I've been wanting to try it and because we had first dessert nearby. Parking is non existent in Waikiki, especially around Beachwalk and on the makai side of Kūhiō, so good luck. I did see a lot of people just doing drive by pick ups of ice cream from here though... so maybe I'll do that next time. There were a lot of tourists. They're cash only. And the styrofoam cups of ice cream are $10 each. If it wasn't as good as it is, I wouldn't be considering going back. They have a bunch of fruit flavors...mango seems to be the favorite, but they have pineapple and papaya and different combinations of fruits. The soursop flavor caught my eye and I decided it was worth it to try because they seem to specialize in fruit flavors. The soursop flavor was great. It was pretty mild. My friend said it tasted like milk or calpico. They got the Ube flavor and really liked it. The guy behind the counter wasn't very friendly and the store itself looks dinky. Perfect small ice cream/sorbet spot. Henry's Place has ice cream/sorbet in the freezer once when you step through the entryway. All the flavors are handwritten on each styrofoam cup. The cup is large, so it is definitely shareable. Remember to bring cash because this is a cash-only place! We walked around the Waikiki area before digging into our frozen treats. Once we got back to the hotel, it was the perfect temperature where you can scoop into it. We got the Pineapple Coconut ice cream and Passion Orange Sorbet! Henry's looks out of place in touristy Waikiki. You would expect a joint like this in Taiwan or remote Lanai. But consider yourself lucky if you stumble upon it's entrance. There are signs everywhere and you would half expect there to be a newspaper stand and cartons of cigarettes for sale. They only take cash or Venmo so prepare in advance if possible! All the treats are pre packed in styrofoam cups with flavors handwritten by colored sharpies, like you would expect at a 10-year Ike's neighborhood lemonade stand. Pineapple coconut ice cream Amazing sorbet like texture yet with the creaminess and body of ice cream. Both flavors shine through brilliantly but also complement each other well. There's little bonus chunks here and there. Strawberry guava sorbet Normally sorbet is too sweet for me but not here. It's balanced so well. Strawberry seed flavors (without the seed annoyance) with bright, fresh guava notes. There's a hint of watermelon there too that leaves you wanting more. Skip the dessert at the surrounding expensive restaurants and walk over to authentic Henry's - this is a must visit. I will be back at least one more time in the coming days. That's all... (Next day) No that's not all... came back after lunch and... Chocolate banana Oooh instant Disneyland frozen chocolate banana flashbacks except without the freezer burns! This place was so good we came 3 times over the course of our vacation. There's just so many flavors to try. Fave to least fav 1. Pineapple Coconut Ice Cream If you're a fan of pina colada this is your jam. Not too sweet. Perfect. I had this on my last day when I was so exhausted from touristing all I could do was lie in the hotel room and watch Harry Potter. This revived me. This is a popular flavor so don't go too late in the day if you want this. 2. Passionfruit Orange Guava (POG) Ice Cream I was really interested in this POG flavor so I was excited to try this. This was much better than any other POG things I had. The flavor was really nuanced and I could really taste the guava, which gave it a really floral aroma. I don't know what kind of cream they use but it does stick to the top of your mouth a little. When you're eating it, had a nice textured mouth feel (reminds me of guava). 3. Watermelon Sorbet We went to the shop very late in the day so options were limited. This tastes exactly how you expect it to and was honestly not really exciting for me. Henry's Place is a cute local shop right off the busy streets of Waikiki. Everything feels very homey, but their ice cream was the perfect way to end the night. My wife and I got the Passion, Dragon, Guava Ice Cream and it was surprisingly light and fresh. If you told me it was a sorbet, I probably would have believed you. I really wanted to try their fruits but we had just had a very filling dinner. If I ever come back, I'll definitely try their fruits. This spot is the definition of a hole in the wall gem. Located right down the block from the beach, it's a great stop for dessert. Bring your cash and be prepared for all the yummy flavors! They're all labeled in the freezer so you can take a look and grab what you want out from the freezer once you've decided. I probably could've come back at least 5 more times to try all the flavors that I was interested in! We were pretty stuffed already so we just picked one and decided on the ube purple yam. Each one is $6 which seems steep when you look at the place from the outside but it is so worth it! It's a pretty generous portion and it's very rich & creamy so you'll get full pretty fast. Bring some people with you so you can try more flavors! They have seats outside so we were able to enjoy it right away, but you can also just walk less than 5 minutes to eat it on the beach. Some might say this place isn't really anything special, but for me I really enjoyed it. My friend recommended this place. It is a small family-owned store. They sell handmade ice cream and sorbet. I liked the sorbet better. It is juicy. Lots of fresh taste in it. Ice cream was also great, coffee has real flavor, but I still choose sorbet next time I will be in Waikiki. One thing I didn't like was the cups were too big. They sell only one size and we couldn't finish all. Since we were staying hotel without a freezer option, we couldn't eat the next day.
