I think it's the first time I've ever been inside this cozy little sweets shop at the ewa end of Ward Center right next to the golf store. What caught my eye were the German cookies, marzipan and stolen - treats I grew up with in Eastern Canada. It was clear that business had been brisk that morning because there were a few empty baskets where smaller items had been. Even all the chocolate ginger in the refrigerated section was sold out. I was happy to pick up some marzipan & German ginger cookies so I was happy. I asked the owners where they made their chocolate sweets and they showed me the back of the store. Nice. Looking at each item the variety this little place has is quite impressive including a huge display case filled with so many items including chocolate dipped strawberries *omg!* Mom decided on some chocolate covered kakimochi which sounds quite intriguing and wondered if there was dark and there was got that for her for Mother's Day. I love Diamond head chocolates. Prices are actually reasonable and I feel like I am being semi healthy with the dark chocolate covered fruits! Lol! I like this particular location a lot because of the free parking and it's nice cave like location. Diamond head chocolates seem to know special occasions before I do. Chocolate covered fortune cookies sprinkled with pink and red for Valentine's Day or chocolate covered Oreos wrapped in green foil for Saint Patrick's day. On a recent May visit I didn't even know it was boys day until I saw the special fish design on the packaging. This is a great place to pick up gifts and treat yourself to chocolate covered strawberries or dried fruit such as chocolate blueberries or large peach flavored treats. Sooo good! Chocolate is smooth, creamy, sweet with no waxy residue. Service is good. Employees kinda leave you alone to ponder your choices. I was given gifts recently from Diamond Chocolates! I loved the cute tiny box of dark and milk chocolate macadamia clusters so I decided to pick up some boxes for a recent holiday favors. I picked up a box of three white, dark & milk chocolate covered oreos and chocolate covered arare in a bag for my mom! My mom enjoyed it! They have many pre-packaged chocolate to give away as gifts. A friend at work also got preordered chocolate dipped fortune cookie with their personalized message and I got one from her to congratulations me for my years of service at work. Located on the 1st floor of Ward center directly across from Fat Cheeks is this decadent chocolate shop by the name of Diamond Head Chocolate. I have been to this location twice and both times left with a bag full of goodies. The shop is small and both times I have been has only had 1 employee working. Both times was a young man that was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a scoop of kona coffee gelato (sorry no pic, me and the hubby gobbled it up too quick). It was creamy and tasted like the perfectly sweetened cup of coffee. . We also got a box of their hand made truffles. They were rich and sinfully delicious. They have lots of other treats to choose from including chocolate covered dried fruit, chocolate covered Arare and different flavored chocolate covered oreos (lemon is my favorite). Stopped by to look at golf clubs-came.out with chocolate! The display is eye catching with bright colors mermaids displayed to draw your eye in and then you see the chocolates. I was grabbing a lobster sandwich over at fat cheeks and decided to check out diamond head chocolates which is on the inside of ward center on the first floor. A guy greeted me as I entered and told me to let him know if I needed anything. So much cute chocolate stuff, saw fortune cookies decorated for St Patrick's day, chocolate covered Oreos, peanut butter round pretzels, chocolate macadamia, fruit covered chocolate, chocolate truffles, chocolate bars and bagged chocolates of all kinds w almonds or fruit or nuts and even no sugar added chocolates! I bought a cute dark chocolate peanut butter bark bar for $5.95 and I liked how beautifully packaged it was, I thought how it would make a perfect gift, This place is a nice stop for tourists to buy gifts or to bring gifts for someone off island. I'm headed to Maui for a quick trip and wanted to bring their AMAZING chocolate covered oreos. Seriously, no one does it like they do. Anyhoo, I saw they were open 12-5 today, while I was at work.. bummer. HOWEVER, right now, they are doing free local delivery! SWEET!!! I was in touch with Brandon from the store who was super helpful. I ordered in the morning online (super easy and I could use PayPal!!!) and they were delivered to my house by the time I got home. Ah-mazing! My favorite chocolates are champagne truffles from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Co., which doesn't have a location here. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that not only did Diamond Head carry them, but their's are even better!!! They have every truffle type you can think of, and each one is even better than the last! We just happened to be checking out Ward Center to see what kind of shops they had and happened upon this little store. If you're looking for that chocolate fix, and you want premier truffles I highly suggest you drop in. But, it's probably for the better...meaning if I knew about DHCC sooner, I probably would be BROKE! This is the perfect place for an omiyage gift for a thank you, teacher gift, or just because. How do I know? Well, my family was gifted a box of 15 Chocolate Covered Oreos (white, milk, and dark chocolate). I kid you not, we fought over every.single.one!!!! And recently, we needed a gift for a friend and immediately she called me from her car and was like, "Where did you get this??" Knowing this, it's time to share this gem. Located in Ward Center near Taj Clubhouse or what used to be Mocha Java Cafe, you will find DHCC. I probably walked by this place many, many times in my life not even knowing what I was missing. Do not let this be you, too! I believe they just opened a Kahala Mall location so bonus points to DHCC for more access! At the Waikele location they don't take checks. It's a good thing the cashier accepted that I could place the items on the side and pick it up tomorrow; paying in cash. I miss the Ward location. I really liked the white chocolate Mac nuts. I didn't see it at the Waikele store. Back years ago a box of them was $50. Trust me those were so good. I saw they had white chocolate Mac turtles. I was dismayed to discover my favorite local chocolate shop had been replaced by... a chocolate shop that was smaller but seemed exactly the same. Lo and behold, it was just downsized and renamed, but the chocolates are still the wonderful chocolates I have enjoyed all my life! As the gf and I don't do dairy, we are all about the dark chocolate and there is a lot of it. The dark chocolate dipped oranges are my absolute favorite, followed by the dark chocolate covered orange zest, followed by the dark chocolate dipped pears, followed by the dark chocolate dipped everything else. You get the gist. I am amused by their pricing of the dark chocolate covered orange zest sticks as they are $58/pound (or something like that), which makes it seem shockingly expensive. If I were in charge, which I am not, I would price it by the ounce. I'm not sure I have ever even seen a pound's worth in the display case. That is my marketing two cents. Love this shop!
