Surprise surprise... what could it be? Chocolate ? ;-)

Excited for new tenant into the Royal Hawaiian Center in Waikiki. Located on the ground floor and just across Dean and DeLuca, right outside of the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel porte cochere. Excited even more that they participated in this year's new years tradition called Fukubukuro! Historically this is a time for retailers to clean out the old merchandise to make room for the new at highly discounted prices (think 50 percent off). Here @ Koho Chocolate, everything is new so no old treasures here! And what will you find once walking into the store, as well as when opening your Furubukuro "surprise" bag but the most beautiful artisan Chocolates with "island flavors". There is a chocolate guide in every box. I spotted mango, lilikoi, guava and more in dark chocolate and milk chocolate. You will also find the most cheerful and helpful sales staff! Excited to be opening a box at my next gathering!

Koho Choco... Did you know that you now can find KOHO Chocolates in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center!? I mentioned to the staff that I did enjoy these island treats when they had the pop up at Ala Moana Center and as the holiday ended so did the pop up. Located on the ground floor in building B which is the middle building right next to Miffy and across Dean and Deluca it is a convenient stop as it's close to the parking though if you don't want to park I was told that you're able to phone order your items and right outside is curbside pick up so you're able to stop by and do a quick pick up for convenience. Walking in the shop is stunning and dressed ready for the holidays it's brand new with less than a week opening was on December 6th it's very easy to browse the items with the perfectly shaped chocolates displayed showing off itself is very nice. I was happy to see that they have included a holiday flavor of gingerbread which is nice though it's in a bigger box and I was looking for something smaller though I may be back for it as I know it would be perfect as a gift. Thank you!

KOHO Chocolates moved to Waikiki. I remember them being inside Ala Moana Center because that was where I got to sample the bon bons and ending up buying a couple of boxes. The chocolate for their bon bons are so smooth that it just melts in your mouth. It amazing! So fast forward to now, they are located along Kalakaua Ave by Cheesecake Factory. The shop is large and spacious and a staff greets you when you walk in. There are a few display cases with the bon bons inside. They have shelves at the back of the store with all the products making it easy to pick what you want and then check out. The bon bons are still my go -to item for gifting to family and friend when I visit the mainland. The gift boxes are pretty and for anyone who has received it, they are always wow-ed. The "Explorer Pink 12-piece" is what I recommend because this one has all the tropical fruit flavors and doesn't have the Kona Coffee making it safe for kids to eat. Their chocolates are pricey and if you're on a budget, you can get smaller boxes like the 6-piece or do the 3-piece custom box. Besides bon bons, they have tablets (chocolate bars) and this is great for chocolate lovers. This area doesn't have parking, so I suggest dining or shopping at Royal Hawaiian Center or International Marketplace to get parking validation and then walking over afterward to buy chocolates. Both malls require a $10 purchase to get parking validation. The other option would be to have someone drop you off in front of the store and then have them circle the block and pick you up when you're done.

I'm saddened to write this review for HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I'm born and raised here on oahu and I came into the store excited to buy ALL OF THE LOCAL FLAVORS , the lady at the register told me only 12 fit in a box so I paid for the 13th flavor as a single bonbon.. i didn't catch that there were only 8 local flavors of the 13! I was trusting that she would've told me that.. but she didn't.. she could've also told me I could have the option of buying a box of 3, 6 and etc.. which she didn't nor the man that made and put my box together..so as I'm eating I'm shocked to have eaten a gingerbread bonbon! I hate the feeling of not being treated like a local and feeling like I overpaid because I was treated like a tourist and they were charging me more than need be.. I'm sad that they didn't offer me a store credit or anything to resolve this issue.. overall the bonbons were good, loved that the shells weren't thick and liked how each flavor came through as described.. some weren't to my liking but that's ok because my husband enjoyed those.. all in all I wish I had a more honest experience and treated like a local!

Momi Dolce's owner and confectioner is Michelle Serota who is from Brazil and she brings her tradition to Hawai'i. She sells her brigadeiros (pronounced "Bree-gah-day-ro") by 4-pack or 6-pack. Her featured flavors are: -Dark chocolate -Crunchy chocolate with cacao nibs -Coconut (white chocolate) -Passion fruit or lilikoi (white chocolate) -Kauai coffee -Almond All of the flavors are intense but balanced by the premium chocolate and condensed milk used in making them. I suppose one could compare them to ganache that is used in making chocolate truffles. These brigadeiros are creamy and fudge-like though it melts smoothly as you might pop them in your mouth. The good thing about Momi Dolce is that Michelle can be reached online so you don't have to wait for her appearance at the Kaka'ako Farmers Market. You can thank me later... Obrigado!

We saw some people illegally parked on the street right on the corner, but they didn't care, they would brave a citation just for these amazing treats! I am sure the neighbors who live across from this place think this is a massive headache, to have such a popular chocolate place right in their own neighborhood - either that, or a blessing, since they can just walk right across! There are 4 tiny stalls in the driveway in the front of the Doggie Bakery and this place, but it looks far too challenging to get in and out and onto the main street, which is insanely busy on a weekend. We parked in the neighboring lot and purchased something from another business just so we could get some chocolates here. If the parking situation were better, I'd come back. I purchased the Hokkaido Soft Serve (weekends only, I think), it was delicious but I was expecting more fatty mouthfeel for something that was labeled as "Hokkaido". It was lighter than I was expecting. The chocolates, on the other hand, were fabulous and worth every, expensive, penny. By the way, who the heck nowdays says "worth every penny"? Probably old folks like me who knew what a penny was, and now due to inflation and the Federal Reserve nixxing the penny, it's probably worth 0.0012 cents now. Rainbow Shave Ice - it really does taste like shave ice! I came here mainly for this, as I've heard the hype and the hype is real! Hibiki Whisky Chocolate - nice and lovely. Dubai Chocolate - with gold leaf and everything. The Dubai craze is insane. This was good, but the least of my favorites. Six chocolates + one soft serve = $30.

They still taste great even after cooling down at home, but they're definitely on another level when you eat them fresh. I don't really have a sweet tooth-I'm a no icing, no frosting kind of girl. I wouldn't dream of eating a cinnamon roll with icing, that's a no for me. But their donuts are delicious all the same and can definitely scratch the itch if you do have a sweet tooth. As someone who's vegan, it can be hard to find a dessert I actually feel good about, and this is one of those places. Everything is taro-based and cooked in coconut oil, which I really appreciate. Just a heads up-all of their donuts are taro donuts. The flavors come from the toppings, so if you see something like a strawberry one, the donut itself isn't strawberry--it's the topping. Their offerings change, ( they do have their core donuts that don't change-and I usually go for one "naked"--no glaze. Sometimes I'll get the honey and sea salt one. Right now they have a seasonal donut called Black Sabbath that's black sesame, brûléed banana. Every time I've been in, I'm greeted right away, and there's plenty of free parking. They get your order out super quick. If you don't want a whole donut--or you're eating in your car and don't want to make a mess--their little donuts called Holeys are the perfect pop-in-your-mouth option. The place has always be well kept and clean - and they have a very spacious, and equally as clean, bathroom. They also have an app where you can check the menu, keep track of your rewards, and manage gift cards, which makes it really convenient. Also, if you're not signed up for their rewards program, do it. You're basically passing up free donuts if you don't. Give them a go, share your experience and if your taste buds celebrated. SYOY! As I approached the service counter the gentleman was meh and asked about their tea to which he gave me the menu and after a quick glance went with one of their specialties "Cranberry Mist" perhaps with the holidays approaching it sounded festive as it's Ceylon tea and cranberry cocktail...oo!
