Cino has quickly skyrocketed to one of my favorite restaurants. Located in Ward near the theater and Whole Foods (both where you can park at and walk over to Cino) it is a newer restaurant but has amazed me every time I've been there- and trust me, I've been there quite a lot! Everytime I visit Cino, I'm greeted by friendly hostesses, happy servers, and delicious food. The restaurant is very hip and trendy- but it can get quite loud especially on a Friday or Saturday night. I would not label this as an intimate date spot, but more of a cool date spot where you can hangout and have fun. Whenever I visit, I always have to order: - Crispy Rice: This is seriously my girlfriend and I's favorite appetizer. It comes with crispy rice topped with fresh hamachi and our favorite, caviar! It's delicious and the perfect way to start the meal off. - Charred Spanish Octopus: I'm a huge fan of octopus and this one is just perfection. Always cooked perfectly so the octopus is tender and I love how simple it is. - Romaine: LOVE this salad. It comes with an anchovy vinaigrette and I love anchovies. I would say if you're not into anchovies though probably don't order this one or order without it. - Chef Selection of Oysters: Can't go wrong. Fresh, delicious, and also a perfect way to start off your meal. - Scallops: Our favorite entree. It comes with four perfectly cooked scallops and risotto. Perfect to share as well. - Tiramisu: Who doesn't love a tiramisu, especially with coffee beans? I mean you can't. Go. Wrong. So in short, Cino has become one of my go-to restaurants that I not only recommend to many of my friends, but where I also frequently return because I literally crave their food. Wish I could give Cino a better rating, however- our experience on a Saturday night - 6:30pm res, 8 persons was not up to standards. It seemed our table was caught in the fury of orders and we were forgotten. The restaurant was busy. There was a 10 top next to us who sat 30 min after us, yet they finished their meal with desserts before us. Daniel serviced both tables and focused his attention on the 10 top more than our table. I hate thinking like this, but the 10 top ordered and kept ordering cocktails and perhaps, this is why Daniel's attention was focused there - more $ for him. An hour wait for 4 appetizers and dinner was served 2 hours later at 8:30 pm. Another hour wait for our dirty dinner plates to be bussed. 3 hours for a 2 course meal- something is definitely wrong. Lack of staff perhaps. In Daniel's defense- there was no one to help him take orders, buss dirty plates, refill water and replenish cocktails- he did it all by himself. Saw a female manager but she never came near our table. No table touches. There was one busser who walked around aimlessly - what a waste. No training? Our check was $795. If you're charging $100/pp, service needs to improve. Food was good. Although the first 3 of 8 entrees arrived to the table barely luke warm (scallops & veal saltimbocca, ribeye) Cream spinach - extra spicy. It did not say anything about spice on the menu. Although we had a lot to talk about, the service and food timing was definitely off. We never said anything since we know the business, however this experience was painful. I came here with my girls last year and had such a wonderful experience, so I was excited to return. This past month, I celebrated my birthday here with my other half, and we ordered the Crab Uni Pasta, sourdough bread with olive oil, charred Spanish octopus, dozen oysters, garlic roasted potatoes and a dessert that ended up being my favorite dish of the night. The ambiance was still beautiful, and we were greeted warmly right away. It was my first time trying the King Crab Uni Pasta, and unfortunately, it was much saltier than I expected and not quite to our liking. We were surprised by how strong the saltiness was, as it overpowered the other flavors of the dish. Appreciate the server trying to accommodate us by offering to replace the pasta with another dish. The other dishes were enjoyable, and the dessert was definitely the highlight of our meal. Overall, I still appreciate the atmosphere and service, but this particular dish was not what we expected based on our previous experience. read more

The restaurant is located near Whole Foods Market, and you can park either there or at the movie theater parking. We arrived right when they opened at 5 pm on Wednesday, so it wasn't crowded at all. I was immediately impressed by the interior design and atmosphere. We started with cocktails: the Lychee Martini and the Pooka Punch. Both were tasty. The martini was sweet and not strong, and the punch had a flavor profile similar to a Mai Tai. For the appetizer, we ordered the Onaga from the Crudo section. It was refreshing, and the beet garnish added a slightly sweet and unique touch. Next, we had the King Crab Pasta. The sauce was Uni (Sea Urchin) butter without cream, which was great for someone lactose intolerant like me. The pasta was freshly made in-house and cooked perfectly al dente. So good. Our main dish was the Branzino. It was fresh, delicious, and had plenty of meat for the two of us. The sauce complemented it well. For sides, we chose the Asparagus and the Crispy Garlic Potatoes. The asparagus was cooked just right, and the olive tapenade added a nice depth of flavor. The potatoes were similar to smashed potatoes -- crispy on the outside and very satisfying. Lastly, the service was excellent. The staff was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. It was a wonderful experience overall. A very nice dinner date atmosphere with excellent Italian food. We ordered a few appetizers and they didn't disappoint. The Charcuterie Board was an excellent selection of meat and cheese (wish though there was more cheese). The charred Spanish octopus was amazing! I came here with a friend and my young daughter to celebrate a friends birthday. While the ambiance is nice, with dim lighting - the overall experience did not meet the expectations to the price of the restaurant. The food was normal. We ordered 2 pasta dishes, calamari, and some side dishes.. along with drinks. The food was okay. The calamari came with a lot of food, but it was mainly other fried items, like, cauliflower and other vegetables.. not too much squid. The rest of the food is where the ratings went down to 1 star... It took 1+ hours to get our main dishes. And after reading the reviews, I now know this wasn't just our experience. We waited and waited, asked our server what the wait was. It didn't seem like they knew themselves. Of course after a long wait, my young daughter is getting restless. What an hour in a half or two hour dinner would have been, ended up being over a 3hr+ dinner due to the wait time. Was the food exceptional due to the exceptionally long wait? Cino is a wonderful high end Italian restaurant in the heart of Ward. It'll cost you at least $100 a person. We enjoyed it for a special occasion celebrating my husband's birthday. Service is excellent, and food is authentic and tasty. I especially loved the ragu and mushroom pastas, Cesar salad (sooo fresh and crunchy) and the octopus appetizer. The rib eye for the price was a disappointment. They try to sell you that it's smoked on guava wood, but truthfully is nothing special... I wouldn't come here for the steak... just get the pastas. For starters, I had no idea this place existed! I met a friend for a girls night. It was a Wednesday I believe. We had a terrific experience. We also ran into another friend there (also having a girls night) and the service was exceptional. The lychee martinis were so yummy and we actually ended up having two. Always love handmade pasta cooked to el dente perfection with slow cooked beyond tender beef. The Chicken Parmesan was done in a spatchcock style and not buried in sauce or smothered in cheese... You could really enjoy the crispy breading -crunch, tomato topping and just enough cheese without being overwhelming. The octopus was tender with a light char and we enjoyed the mango Panna cotta with fresh fruit. Now, the food and recommendations: Beet salad 5/5 if you like beet salad this one was one of the best i ever had with macadamia nuts and salt it had a sweet and rich savory taste that was a great starter Crispy Rice 5/5 another great starter. As expected, the rice was crispy and chewy at the same time with the fish giving it a deep but not overpowering flavor profile. Shrimp: 4.5/5 Generous pieces of shrimp and a nice red sauce. Very flavorful and wanted to scoop up more sauce with every bite New York Strip: 4/5 This was the only semi disappointment of the night. Ordered medium rare and because of the cut the end pieces were overcooked and dry. Not that it was bad but this was probably my fault for ordering a steak when there were so many other good options to order. The smashed potato's 5/5 were good but deadly. If you don't want a rich and heavy mashed potato dish don't get this but if you do you cant deny that it is yummy. Food was so good!!!!! We shared a caprese with bread, which pretty much filled us up. We also shared the garlic Parmesan potatoes and the creamed spinach. The spinach was Devine; warm and silky with a good amount of garlic. I wish the potatoes had more flavor, but they weren't bad. I had the mushroom papardelle which was also really good. I think it would have been better with angel hair pasta, but the thicker noodles worked (just not my fav). My friend had the filet which she said was very tasty, but because we were already so full, she saved it for lunch the next day. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely a must try We ordered the charred Spanish octopus, herb pappardelle, pork chop with potatoes, and shared a panna cotta. The octopus was perfection! Seasoned and perfectly tender, we enjoyed every bite. The pappardelle were beautiful ribbons of freshly made pasta stamped with colorful herbs. The oxtail ragu that came on top of the pasta was slow cooked and melted at the touch of the fork. The pork chop was nice and juicy and paired well with the giant mound of twice baked potato. Our server was kind and attentive, but as the evening went on, the noise level in the restaurant increased, making it difficult to hear--unfortunate, especially since there was no written dessert menu. Service: good even for Mother's Day dinner. We were seated quickly 10 min before our reservation time. Restaurant is a little noisy but not crazy loud. Server Sarah came over almost immediately, asked if we wanted any water or if we were ready to order other drinks. Asked for water then perused the cocktail menu. They don't list beers, whiskeys, or bourbons they have, you need to ask, but have a wine list in addition to the cocktail list. Once she gets our order (for anything) she immediately turns so there's no chance to ask questions, she's extremely efficient, not overly friendly. It was Mother's Day so not sure if it's always like that. Drinks were good. Guys ordered beers (Sapporo) gals ordered cocktails, Cino old fashioned for me (Four Roses Bourbon, Angostura Bitters, Jasmine, Orange bitters) and it was very good. Daughter ordered Blood Moon (Tequila, Cointreau, smoked chili liqueur, lilikoi, blood orange, agave, lime, Bittermans Hellfire Shrub), it had a little kick from the chili liqueur, not overly sweet, with a pretty color. Ordered beef tartare, made with fillet mignon (not raw, more like very rare) and coarsely chopped instead of scraped, w/egg yolk emulsion, capers, served with tapioca puff (like giant shrimp chips without shrimp). It was good, but the filet could have been chopped more finely. We also ordered crispy garlic potatoes, it had Parmigiana, and was yummy. Mains: guys got the Scallops with shrimp and fennel risotto. Good but not outstanding. I got the House aged roast duck, leg was confit, breast was roasted, w/orange sauce. Breast was very good, leg was not as tender as it could have been for a confit. Birthday celebration at Cino last night although my birthday is actually today. From start to finish a fabulous dinner. The restaurant seemed to be short staffed but we weren't in any hurry. Five hungry people enjoying good food, good cocktails and some fantastic albeit small selection of desserts. In a nutshell, I think this restaurant is a good place for drinks and appetizers but not so much for dinner. We came here for the first time for my birthday dinner. I had wondered about this restaurant since I've eaten across the street multiple times and kept seeing it. It located in Ward area across from Nori bar and Happy lemon. There is parking both at the theater and whole foods but there is also a few public parking stalls in the structure right behind the business. The start was good. But when it came to main dishes it was a different story. We got the uni pasta, branzino, ribeye and duck. All the protein dishes were over seasoned. The duck was so salty we had to send it back. Even though our group was pretty picky, they took it as a fun challenge and delivered drinks that were thoughtful, balanced, and seriously impressive. Is it a little pricey for some? Maybe. But for the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the level of service, it was 100% worth it. Parking is available below one of the condos at Wards, and it's free then you just walk through a door around the corner to the entrance. Once inside, it was a bit noisy, the lighting was nice for an evening date. An intimate setting. Service was great. I was in Oahu with the kids. It was late and there weren't many options, but Cino was open so we decided to try it. I am SOOO glad that we did! The food is great. Everything we ordered was fire! But that wasn't even the best part - our waitress was an absolute angel. Once she found out that we were visiting from Southern California, she went out of her way to give us ideas of things to do and places to eat, including top luaus. She was amazing! I've been wanting to try out Cino for a while now, and I finally came here to celebrate my birthday last month in May. My husband and I chose to celebrate without the kiddos, which was a good decision since the ambiance was very romantic and cozy. The location was easy to find with ample parking nearby in the Ward area. When entering the restaurant, it was smaller than I had imagined. It was a rectangular room with a section for larger parties and the main dining section that included a counter for the bar area. Our server, JR (I think?), was very friendly and welcoming. He gave us the history of the restaurant and the chef's origins. Since it was our first time dining at Cino, he shared his top recommendations. The food we ordered: Charred Spanish Octopus - Delicious and perfectly charred! I haven't eaten octopus this way and it was very moist and tender. The puree was nicely paired with the octopus. Crispy Rice - It was okay... Twice Baked Potato - I couldn't really taste the pancetta, but rather tasted like there were bell peppers or something else in it. I love potatoes but wasn't a fan of this. Maybe I should have ordered the crispy garlic potatoes instead. 25 oz. Bone-In Ribeye - The cut of meat was delicious, but wasn't seasoned that well. Cino was our choice to celebrate Fathers Day. There were 6 of us and a 5 year old and none of us had been before. We made a reservation and arrived early and they were able to accommodate. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the vibe is on point. Our server was JR and he was phenomenal! He explained how the chef and restaurant came to exist about a year and a half ago and went into some of the best dishes on the menu. When it was time to order we ordered three pupu's which were the Beet salad, the Romaine, and the Fritto Misto. For entrees we got the Crab Spaghetti, the Spaghetti Carbonara, the Herb Pappardelle, the Ossobuco, the Veal Parmesan, and the Pork Chop. The food is a la carte so on the side we got the twice baked potato, the crispy potatoes, and the creamed spinach. Food came out timely which is always nice. All of the pupu's were delicious. The goat cheese with the beets was a great pairing. The Romaine had lots of flavor but it was pretty salty. I'd order it again though. The fritto misto was good and came with a chilabrian chili sauce. Entrees were all delicious as well. We are a family that doesn't mind sharing so we all tried everyone's food. I had the Herb Pappardelle and it came with an oxtail ragout. The sauce was so flavorful but the pasta had herbs cooked into it which meant you got that herb flavor with every bite. My boyfriend Ossobuco was huge and it sat on saffron risotto. The only issue with his was the entire dish lacked salt. I hate asking for salt but we had to and it really helped. Mine was seasoned well but the other two pastas needed salt as well. The crab pasta was SO good and the carbonara was good. Of the 3 pastas I'd say the crab one was the best. My dad got the veal parmesean ($88) and it took up the entire plate. It's expensive because its a full pound. I didn't get to try the pork chop but I heard it was also delicious. The sides were spot on too. Creamed spinach came with an egg that JR mixed in. The crispy potatoes were amazing. I could have eaten the whole thing. I'm not a fan of twice baked potatoes so I didn't try them but I heard it was very good too. We also decided to get dessert and while they don't have a dessert menu they do make several homemade desserts daily. Yesterday the desserts were a panna cotta with fruit, a chocolate tiramisu, and some kind of passion fruit tart. And they also have a couple of gelatos that they get from a nearby establishment. Dessert just like the rest of the meal was delicious. Everyone had a different favorite dessert but they were all very good and we'd eat them all again. For our group of 6 we spent $500 but thats for 3 pupu's, 6 entrees, 3 sides, 3 desserts, 3 coffees, 1 glass of wine and 2 sodas. Yes it's pricey but absolutely worth the cost and if you go I hope you get seated in JR'S section. We'll definitely be back. read more

I made a reservation for my party via open table a few days in advance. Upon arriving, we were briskly taken to our table with no wait. We were loving the ambiance. The place is beautiful!! The waiter was very knowledgeable and answered every question we had. We ordered the Purple Rain drink, it was very lovely. I wanted to try the Crystal Tai but it was sold out (maybe next time). Our food followed shortly after drinks and everyone was pleased with what they ordered. The scallops were the talk of the table so pls try it!!
