    Lychee & Hojicha
    Stephanie L.

good gelato place in the middle of Stix food hall. I came here for dessert after trying out Baikohken. One of the workers were really nice and said we could sample any of the flavors. I tried out hojicha, coffee, and strawberry cheesecake before making my decision. I got the lychee & hojicha while my sister got the coffee & strawberry cheesecake. The hojicha was the best out of all them. It had a nice and smooth flavor.

Welcome to gelato and sorbet destination in Stix Asia! You'll find 12 flavors that rotates pending on availability of ingredients for the season. To go station. Love unique and exotic flavors! Choice of one cup size for free that accommodates single, double, and triple scoops. Waffle cones also offered at an additional charge. Pints are available for purchase in individual flavors $10.80. Equivalent to five or six scoops. Hubby really enjoyed consuming Hawaiian Liliko'i. Hawaiian Liliko'i Sorbet: Refreshing and uplifting, non dairy treat. Definitely tasted sweet and tart flavors accompanied with black seeds. Earl Gray Gelato: Bold and picker upper. Chai Tea Gelato: Subtle and complements earl gray. Worker was very sweet and thoughtful to inquire how many cups and spoons we needed. Impeccable customer service! Nearest open seats are at regular table with chairs behind or next to doors. Hope to try their black sesame or various gelatos on a future visit!

Wow, what a wonderful way to cap a perfect Yelp experience! The gelatos and sorbets were in general light and refreshing ... perfect to pair with Asian food. Tried many samples which were all delicious but settled on the Japanese favorite, yuzu lemon (lemon, mandarin orange & grapefruit flavor).

They were really smart to jump into STIX as a gelato place. After eating Asian food, this is the perfect way to end dinner. Their gelato is creamy, and the flavors are on point. We tried the strawberry cheesecake and the pumpkin chocolate chip. It tasted exactly like what you hoped it would. There's nothing more to say. However, I felt bad for the girl helping us because she had to jump between the gelato area and the soft serve area with only another employee. There was a long line, and I know they were stressed. But, everyone is having that issue now. Looking forward to people getting back to work.

The gelato here is perfect! The flavors are accurate in the best way - they have tea flavors (chai, Earl grey, matcha, and hojicha) that balance the sweetness of dessert with the slight bitterness of tea. The other flavors are great too - we got the matcha, Kona coffee, and Hawaiian honey and lemon, and I could really taste the honey when I usually don't with desserts labeled "honey."

The waffle cones are very good here, crunchy and don't taste stale. The flavors are very good, and they didn't mind my group asking for more than one sample, so the service is quite friendly. It's right next to the tea ice cream place, but they manage to strike a good balance. This place is very ice cream and flavor focused while their next door neighbor is tea and parfait focused. This place's flavors are very strong, and the use of natural flavors and teas makes it stand out in a crowd of other gelato places. I'll certainly be back to try more.

Located in the Stix Asian Food court. Decided to get a scoop of the coconut pineapple and it was so refreshing and good! Super creamy and with strong coconutty taste! :) They have a variety of other fruit flavors and you can get yourself a sample before deciding which to pick. Def make a stop by if you're in the area!

The gelato was amazing and they offer Kama'aina discount!! I got the yuzu and Hawaiian Lilikoi. The Yuzu flavor was this month special so there's only a couple more days to grab it. If you get the chance I would highly recommend because of the light and slightly sour and refreshing Yuzu flavor. I absolutely loved the Hawaiian Lilikoi, it was extremely refreshing and a perfect sweetness! There are many unique flavors that sounded delicious, so I will for sure be back to try them all!!

First time visiting Ao Gelato and I was pleasantly surprised. Located in Stix Asia on Kalakaua in Waikiki, this gem shares a space with Nana's Green Tea. There are a few shared tables for you to sit down and enjoy your treat. I tasted the mango sorbet, hojicha gelato, and strawberry cheesecake gelato. All three were delicious, but I'm a sucker for cheesecake so that was the obvious winner. Smooth and creamy with chunks of cheesecake and strawberry swirls, I enjoyed every last bit of my choice. I will definitely come back again to enjoy some of their other flavors when I'm back in Waikiki again with a sweet tooth. Don't forget your kama'aina discount!

The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! I'm trying to remember but I think there was a book off that was not too far from here! If you either drive or maybe walk. Service: staff was super helpful and friendly while I was there. I was having an issue with my online order because my phone was being glitchy and they were so nice in helping :) Also wanted to note their branding is so cute!! They even sell merch items too

However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? Hubs had to fast from 6 am for his 2 pm surgery so I thought he would probably be starving and would enjoy a delectable salt and butter roll from here. At $4.50 a piece I consider this a luxury for us. I found a close stall in the parking structure. A very cheerful polite male employee took my order. I had seen two occupied tables as I walked into the shop. Both had matcha drinks. Why not? I asked the young man assisting me, what's the best matcha drink? He said his favorite was banana matcha with extra banana foam. Okay I'll try it. He repeated it to the cashier. So popular there was a wait for beverages to be prepared. Soon enough mine was ready. I think Doc would enjoy this drink. This shop is a working bakery. Many yummy pastries displayed. Menu is posted high up above to choose from. Rather tiny shop with room for customers to stand in line to order and wait for drinks. Clean, busy with a few tables and chairs outside but pretty much in direct sun.
