After watching The Umbrella Academy last night and that diner scene where the guy got a chocolate eclair, I was craving donuts. Not malasadas - sorry Leonard's truck at Koko Marina, I do love you - but regular donuts. I didn't want to go into town and choices in HK are limited - Safeway, 7-Eleven, Aloha... then I remembered Napoleon's Bakery! Sure enough, they came through with some fun flavors and favorite classics - my daughter will love the unicorn donut when she wakes up!

They have beautiful displays of fancy desserts and on shelves cookies and Madeleines. I picked a few fruity desserts to try macarons, lemon tart, mango pudding, tropical fromage. I wanted to get their fruit tart but the fruit on top looked dry and not as pretty and glossy. My favorite was the tropical fromage which was light and airy with a really nice fruit flavor. The mango panna cotta was my second favorite which included the mango bits on top - a nice touch - and the cream nice and rich. Lemon tart had an odd taste to it. Should have went with the mush peach tart that didn't look as appetizing but probably better. The macarons were my least favorite especially the yuzu and passion fruit flavors that didn't taste anything like those fruits. For $2.50 I wish they were better and not as dry. I am glad I tried them but the prices were a bit much for me.

The awning above will say Waikiki Tea. It's immediately after an open parking lot if you're walking or driving down the one way street. I'm not sure if you can park in there or not but I found loading zone parking so I parked there and walked over. When you enter, you'll see some indoor seating, the coffee prep area and a display case of some of their cakes. It's a cozy spot but clean and white. My most recent visit was to pick up a birthday cake for a friend. He's been talking about it so I figured it would be something nice to surprise him with. Hopefully he enjoys the surprise and is able to share the cake with all his loved ones. Due to the holidays, Lady M is busy and sells out so preordering is best. I was just extremely lucky they had a Signature cake available the day I called. The person on the phone took down my info and asked what time I was going to pick up the cake then put it on the side for me. Unfortunately, they don't hand write Happy Birthday on the cake but they did provide me a complimentary Happy Birthday cake topper which was nice. Overall great cake option for any occasion.

They have 3 free parking stalls. You can also find street parking either on Beach Walk or Saratoga Road. I walked in and was greeted with a friendly smile. His name is Kevin. You will also see a wide selection of Royce Chocolates display on the right side of the wall and in front of you the glass display of the world's famous Mille Crêpes. Kevin helped us decide on our black box Royce Chocolates. It's a little pricey but the black quality of the chocolate is divinely melt in your mouth full of rich, creamy goodness and delicious chocolate!!! Royce' is famous for the Nama chocolates all the way from Japan. But guess what?! You don't need to fly to Japan to get your hands on them! Just drive yourself to Beach Walk in Waikiki and I guarantee you'll thank me for it!! Yup, you will! ;) We also picked up a few flavors of the Lady M Mille Crêpes. We got Amedei Chocolate, Pistachio, Chestnut and Tiramisu. Each layers of the cake is made with perfection!!! I paired mine with an ice caramel macchiato. It would probably taste better with a hot caramel macchiato but it was a little sunny so I opted for the ice drink. The coffee is also sooo good!!! It almost remind me of the coffee I had in France! I thought I'd never find a better caramel macchiato here in Honolulu than Starbucks! I was completely wrong! Kevin, thank you so much for making my first visit so memorable! You were kind with a friendly smile and lots of aloha!!! Come visit Lady M! Whether you come in for their world's famous Mille Crêpes, Royce' chocolates or meet Kevin, I know you'll love this place! Thank you for reading my review. Have a great week!!!

I was too full at the moment to order more food, but I returned on my last evening in Oahu to order a slice of rainbow cake for myself. It was somewhat early in the evening -- probably around 6PM or so -- so the Royal Hawaiian Center food court was getting a little busy but there were still empty tables around. The bakery itself had a few people in line so I perused the display case for other desserts. They had quite a few interesting ones: lilikoi basque cheesecake, Diamond Head puff custard, ube cake. Unfortunately, my appetite is much smaller than it once was, but the cakes looked delicious and the people in front of me all ordered their cakes ahead of time, so they are quite in demand! The cashier took my order quickly and I was able to get a slice of rainbow cake, which had fluffy cream and moist layers of colorful cake. The flavor reminded me of fruity pebbles, but without being overly sweet the way children's cereal used to be. I really liked eating it because it didn't make me feel guilty eating a dessert. I hope I can return to Kulu Kulu sometime and try their other desserts a well!

I have been to their downtown location before. They pretty much sell the same items. I got a slice of rainbow cake $7.99, pastel de nata $4.69 and pain au chocolat $4.79. The rainbow cake was awesome. I could actually taste the different flavors for the different colored layers. The frosting was more of a whipped cream, so it wasn't overly sweet. The pastel de nata was a Portuguese egg tart. The crust was flaky, but the egg custard was so sweet. They overdid it with the sugar. The pain au chocolat was a chocolate danish. It was good, but didn't really stand out. They also sell drinks (coffee, tea, smoothies) and sandwiches. The workers were really polite and helpful.

The ahi sashimi salad, steamed fish, smoked salmon sandwich, and salmon spaghetti are just a few of my favorites. The sashimi in the salad is super fresh, and the steamed fish is huge and sits on a bed of tofu, topped with a ginger shoyu sauce that goes so great with rice. I like that you can choose from a selection of quality bread for the sandwiches - can't go wrong with the smoked salmon but I love the club sandwich as well. I was amazed at how much flavor is in the salmon spaghetti, plus they don't skimp on the salmon pieces here. The clam chowder and Russian borscht soups are good too. The best part is that there are probably 70+ more menu items I haven't even tried yet. The Thai steak salad, seafood laksa, green curry, and oxtail stew are next on the hit list. Service is okay. Typical busy establishment - I tend to come during the high peak lunch hour. The food can be slow at times, but it's worth it. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The patio is the quieter option but I usually sit inside where the a/c is. They validate parking which marks them up yet another notch. I recommend making reservations since they can get busy, especially around lunch.

This shop is located in a strip mall right off Keahole Street. The inside of the shop was clean and brightly decorated but a bit smaller than I was expecting. Even so, they had a display case filled with a variety of scones and a coffee bar in the back. After looking over the menu I chose an iced Hawaiian honey latte along with a lilikoi scone while my dad went with a salted caramel scone. Our order was ready within about five minutes and we were quickly on our way. I first tried the lilikoi scone and really enjoyed it. It had a nice sharpness that was balanced with just enough sweetness to keep it from being overpowering. My coffee was good as well. The coffee itself was deep and rich and while I picked up a bit of sweetness at the start, the Hawaiian honey really came through on the finish. My dad also really enjoyed his salted caramel scone. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. We both enjoyed our scones and I thought my coffee was solid as well.

These scones are dense and cakey with a firm crust. The actual scone is barely sweet, with most of the flavor coming from a punchy glaze. We tried a Strawberry and a Guava Cream Cheese scone with an Iced Latte. One of the nicest parts of the shopping center is getting to sit by the water so that's where we headed. I enjoyed the Guava Cream Cheese more because of the chucks of cream cheese, but my partner thought the Guava was too tart. The Iced Latte was a dark roast, with a little less milk and more coffee; a good pick me up on a hot day. Overall, worth stopping by if you're in the neighborhood, but come early if you want the full selection, by 10 am they were already out of some flavors.
