Passed by this place several times, always rolling down my window to smell the smokey goodness. Finally decided to give their huli huli chicken a try and we did not regret it. The chicken was so delicious. Seasoned and smoked to perfection. It was so tender and juicy. Opted to go for a chicken plate which came with half a chicken, 2 scoops rice, corn and a side of their sauce. It was $18 which I gladly paid for because of how delicious it was and how big the portion was. It was good enough for 2-3 people. The staff was really nice. The thing is, the jello-like/slightly slimy texture of the fat leads one to believe that it was boiled first or at least not fried thoroughly. There's nothing wrong with boiling as long as the skin and fat come through as crispy. The skin was crispy, but the fat wasn't. Perhaps, they just need to fry it a little more. Other than that, if it was crispy throughout, I would've given it 5 stars. I'm looking forward to trying the other things on the menu like the beef pares.

The lau lau and kalua pig definitely needed poi -- I think you can only get poi as a side order because it doesn't come with any of the Hawaiian plates. Squid luau is one of my favorite Hawaiian foods and I did find a few really big pieces of seafood in my side order! It was sweet from the coconut and really tasty. The service here is really friendly and super fast! I think they have a lot of the food pre-made so if you're in a time crunch- this spot can definitely accommodate.
