While waiting for my hubby's procedure to get done yesterday, I popped into the Sunrise Cafe to get a quick bite. The cafe is located on the 2nd floor of the hospital & there are signs that will point you in the right direction when you come out of the elevator. It was late afternoon, around 4:30PM when I got there & it was pretty much empty. I've been here a couple times but it's been awhile. They have a huge dining area that I'm sure gets filled up during the day when the majority of the staff are working. The cafe has great views of Moanalua Valley & Tripler Hospital. They serve a variety of foods for just about everyone's tastes. There are 2 hot entrees daily, one of which is vegetarian, a small salad bar, a hot food warmer with burgers & hot dogs, a cooler display that holds an assortment of freshly made sandwiches, & yummy desserts, healthy fruit cups, yogurt, bottled drinks, & other grab & go food. There's a beverage bar serving hot & cold items, and by the cashier, a chest freezer filled with ice cream. In the dining area, there is also an assortment of vending machines including one that had spam musubi. There were 2 ladies working, one a cashier & the other serving the hot entrees. I think I've seen them before. They've been working there a long time. Both nice & friendly, as well as efficient. Prices are very reasonable, you won't break your wallet. I had ordered only 3 items - a cheeseburger, sandwich, & dessert. The total came to only $13.40. CHICKEN SALAD SANDWICH - premade in-house from the display case. ONO! Best chicken salad I've ever had or made. I've had this sandwich before & was glad they still made it. It had walnuts, cranberries, a hint of cream cheese, lettuce on whole wheat bread. The only thing about it was the lettuce was soggy but since they have to make a big batch ahead of time, & it sits for a couple of days, I'll give them that. It was still so good! 5* for sure CHEESEBURGER - I would rate this burger a 3*. Because it sits in the warmer for hours, the bun was wrinkly probably from the foil it was wrapped in. The burger itself is good sized - quarter lb on a hamburger bun with American cheese. It was a little on the dry side so I only ate half & saved the rest for later. But, you really can't beat the price of only $3.25 for a quarter lb cheeseburger, cheaper that McDonald's. HAULOLO - dessert - 5*, excellent! This is brought in from a vendor called Pomai Kulolo out of Kailua. It's a pudding with coconut/haupia pudding on top & a taro dessert on the bottom, which is kulolo. Thus the name of the dessert haulolo. Sunrise Cafe is a hidden gem. Good food, reasonably priced, a variety of items to choose from, friendly workers, spacious dining area with gorgeous views of the valley & mountains. It's worth a stop.

Very friendly staff and good food. Cafe is inside hospital and for hospital food it's good and healthy. The portions are smaller than your average L&L plate but it is a more healthier serving. We got the teriyaki chicken and loco moco. The chicken was good and came with two pieces, your side of vegetables and starch. I wished they put more gravy on the loco moco but it was still pretty good. There are alot of seats in the cafe as well as vending machines on the sides. You can also enjoy the view. May get crowded at lunch as employees come there to eat as well.

Food was great, menu is simple and straightforward. They do stagger order pickups for covid safety. Okinawa Pork bittermelon (has eggs) is very different than chinese style (black bean). Soba and sushi was flavorful and fish fresh. Tempura was not crunchy but crisp and fresh. No tempura sauce only katsu sauce provided. The soft slightly sweet tang potato salad very fitting!

    $4.00 mini plate. Just right!

I actually like their food. The musubis are good. My kids loved it, so that's a plus. They offer foods on the healthier side, salad bar.

At the time, he stated that him and his partner were in a competition to see how many triples they could sell, but figured I'd keep that in the back of my mind for our next visit. We came here on a recommendation from my boyfriend's coworker and I'm glad we came! The burgers and fries were made fresh. There are only a hand full of tables inside and a small bar area, but there is also outdoor seating outside, too! A neat fact is that there were pictures posted from when the shop first opened up and to see They Daley as a fixture in Chinatown is amazing since they've stuck around and adapted to the development around. The burger was delicious, too. They have an aioli sauce that was good with diced up pickles. Usually I request no pickles but the small bursts really added to the texture and feel of the burger overall. 10/10 would come again!

I'm pleased to report that this latest order contained a perfectly prepared burger and a bag of crispy fries (as ordered). The remaining nitpicks were: 1) having to wait an additional 10 minutes past the time the order was supposed to be ready, 2) paying $6 for a bag of fries. Increase the price of the burger by $1 and reduce the price of the fries. Yes, the total would be the same but the value would be where it belongs. In any case, $10 is money well spent for a great burger.

Their prices are a bit high for single burgers, but I think they're great and on par with Chubbies and Daly. I'm not sure how new they are but it appeared that they had only 1 server, who was very efficient and attentive. The food took a bit longer than I would have liked, especially for burger and fries. Menu was adequate, burgers, hotdogs and fries, which is a good sign for me because that means they're not trying to do too much. I got two wagyu cheeseburgers, no onions, extra pickles for the girls, the One burger for myself, and a basket of fries. The girls really loved their burgers and they were a really good size, I could've done away with just ordering one and dividing it between the two of them. The bread was really nice, I can't tell if it was maybe a brioche burger bun or what but it was super tasty, soft and it sopped up the yummy juices well. They did excellent on the request for extra pickles, and the bread to patty ratio was very generous. The fries were good. Nothing extraordinary, but they complemented the burgers well. I think they might be the Ore-Ida frozen ones, which is fine. For my burger, I was pleasantly surprised and realized that I LOVE blue cheese with my burger. Between the tomato bacon jam, the pickles, onions, and special sauce, it was like a well-orchestrated symphony, each flavor getting highlighted without being overpowering, and complementing the rest. That being said, somehow, there was something missing. I am not quite sure what, but I think it's from the actual hamburger patty. I really wanted to say this was one of the best burgers I've had but there was something that just didn't quite get me there. For a wagyu patty, I think I needed it to be richer, and to hold its own with the other ingredients, but it felt like the add-ons were carrying the burger. I mean, I felt like the bread was doing more than the patty itself. Maybe the patty got a bit overdone and would've worked better medium rather than medium-well to well-done? I really can't be sure. Will I go back? Yes, for sure. I am curious about all the other burger variations they have with the fried Kimchi and the Umami mayo. Maybe I'll even try The One fries with all the fixings. And if they could just find that one tweak, they may turn out to be one of the best burgers around.

The place is very hard to locate, due to the lack of good signage, but it's in the shopping center right next to the Lobster King. Parking is very difficult too, so maybe have another person with you who can order and wait for the food. I'm not going to lie, the wait time for the food is extremely long for just burgers and fries--took more than 30 minutes--but please keep in mind this is a small business. I think there were only 2 or 3 people working, an auntie, uncle, and a younger guy who I believe was cooking. The food looked so beautiful but everything was too salty and the patties were way too charred, which I'm hoping was a one off thing. I did DM them on social media shortly after picking up our order and they said it was an off day. They offered for me to come back one day so they can make things right, but I don't know if I'll have the time to swing by anytime soon. I truly hope this business does well, they are the sweetest people I've met in the last few months, and I wish them nothing but the best. I hope others have a better experience than I did.
