A time was definitely had for the birthday lady! Our family had an amazing time at this location! The Christmas lights were still up outside and the section we sat in gave a great view of outdoors! Food I have never tried Elk in my life and was a little apprehensive in doing so, but I must say these Tacos were the complete best! Went to a birthday dinner Wednesday, and I must say it was busier than expected. The pros of the business are location (inside of Legacy West right next to legacy hall), the ambiance is both casual & intimate chic giving the option to dress up or down, and the food is good. I ordered the Rose 75 to drink, modern twist on a French 75 and I do have to say it was good. For dinner I ordered the chicken fried chicken which came with mashed potatoes and sautéed green beans. YUM. The chicken was nicely battered and seasoned with this peppery taste to it. The sides were also good, not overly seasoned which balanced out the dish. The cons are that once it's busy it can take forever for the staff to direct you to your table. That would normally get 4 stars but docked one because the server did that thing where they hover while you are checking out on the POS machine paying the bill. You know, to pressure your tip. This is one of my go-to restaurants to bring out-of-town family and friends, it never disappoints! It has such a cool Texas upscale vibe. I love the downstairs bar, and the rooftop bar with the tiki tents is such a fun spot to hang out (especially when it's not blazing hot ). The service and food are always solid, and the overall experience is just really enjoyable. We arrived at happy hr time and decided to go with that menu. I ordered mini elk tacos, Queso dip, fried green tomatoes and French fries, for drinks frozen Long Island teas and bourbon smash. The sliders were sold out. The Time it took to bring food , drinks, and a glass of water was ridiculous. So slow!!! Food was good but very cold. Three levels with American wild west, tufted leather seating, rustic touches. As soon you enter you can be in awe at the floor to ceiling log-filled fireplace. First level features high chairs and tables, a bar and hosts to greet you promptly. The second floor is the home to the open kitchen view, wrap around bar and dining area. Attentive hosts present. Third level features more booth seating, cigars in glass display with tent canopy seating and fancy chandeliers. This is the kind of place you take a date to or dine with a group of friends. Perfect for a fun celebration. Haywire ambiance is casual but fancy at the same time. I found myself feeling like I was "Glamping." You know, not just any camping but a glamorous + camping vibe. Why? The tent booths offer that remote, cozy feel. The crystal chandeliers was the perfect nook for my friend and I to catch up. We dined on fried green tomatoes, Elk tacos, queso with chips and onion rings. This was all served as part of the managers favorite four. I'm not typically a queso girl. I became one that night. Usually I see yellow cheddar based queso but this one had white cheeses featured. The look was similar to clam chowder in thickness. Haywire's side salad with balsamic dressing was so refreshing. Grape tomatoes, spiced pecans, cucumbers, carrots, herbed goat cheese, Texas honey & herb vinaigrette. Yes ma'am!The pecans allowed for that crunch factor that prepped me for what was to come. Entrees. You can't call yourself a Texan without eating a good cut of steak. Medium-well is how I like it and while it came out lighter than expected, the attentive server Tania and manager Cheryl aimed to please. Responsive. They pivoted, they immediately bring out another seasoned steak that was pure perfection. Simply prepared this place knows how to not over complicate a good thing. Poblano salsa covered meatloaf. I felt the heat, spice and the heartiness of this meal. Can green beans be something one craves? These ones may just be! The beans were crunchy and had the perfect seasoning. I could taste the garlic in a way that wasn't overbearing. Dessert. My favorite was the Homestead cake. Think carrot cake with candied pecans and mouth-watering caramel sauce. Honorable mentions are their bread pudding and pecan pie of course. Kudos again to manager Cheryl, Jane (who will soon open Houston's location) and exuberant server Tania. They communicated a desire of aiming to please patrons and were knowledgeable about selections from the menu. More importantly, their excitement towards the dishes made me know they love what they serve because they enjoy the food just as much. Will I be back? Yes y'all. Went here early on a Saturday in March 2026 and did the Cowgirl menu which is a small steak, Caesar salad, fries, and lemon drop (or dirty martini) for 30. The parking they have a free parking garage but be prepared from where you park you might have to walk a few minutes so have comfortable shoes or let someone drop you off and then they park. The wait was about 30 minutes on a Saturday night. They also have music on Sat nights in the center this is in so it was a bit loud in the area seated but they are other areas where you wont hear the music. The food I found the steak to be very lack luster I have had much better steak from chain places they could improve in this area, the fries and caesar salad was good (I like the homemade dressing they had it was diff than normal caesar dressing) . The drinks were not done well we had 2 lemon drops but my daughter was given a dirty martini instead and my lemon drop was way too strong hardly no lemon taste in it and I like balanced drinks ....the bar needs more bartenders /help and I guess they did the best they could do. The server he was wonderful and attentive so no worries there. Overall because the food was mediocre I would not return. I recommend doing a reservation as well read more

Walked in and were told we can sit anywhere on 1st and 3rd floor as it's open seating so we chose the cute little camper setup on the 3rd floor. Loved it! Nice and warm and cozy even though it's cold outside. There's a heater under the couch I believe! We had the meat and cheese board for starters and it was a perfect combination of meats, cheeses, sauces and honeycomb which is local. Then we shared the TX Whiskey BBQ Ribs which was plenty for 2. Comes with some super delicious cornbread and Mac n cheese. Zaliah was an awesome server and we never had to go without! Dessert menu looked yummy but we skipped on that this time. This location is CASHLESS and they will ask to put a card on file at the beginning of your stay. There's also a cool looking cigar selection that I saw on the 3rd floor! After passing this place for six years, my Mom and I finally decided to stop in and enjoy a meal here. This establishment is delightfully adorned to achieve a rustic, modern, and upscale vibe, and I immediately felt the positive energy flowing through the intimate setting. We were greeted by Riley at the hostess desk for our 11AM OpenTable Reservation. She directed us to the 2nd floor where one of the hostesses (Cara?) showed us to our table. She handed us menus and even noted the food allergies of the affected person in our party. I thought that was exceptional of her to reconfirm. Our server Mikayla was a rockstar and attended on us within a minute. She reconfirmed my food allergies (mushroom and eggplant) and offered to answer any questions about the menu. Courteous, knowledgeable, attentive, and personable with a professional work ethic. She anticipated our every need and checked in with us from time-to-time to see if everything was to our satisfaction. She also took a photo of us at the end of our meal upon my request. For cocktails, we both ordered Texas Mules. They were perfectly crafted - a hint of jalapeño along with the intense, bold, refreshing and palate pleasing flavor of the ginger beer. Excellent! We ordered the Fried Green Tomato Appetizer. The full-bodied flavor and the crunch/ratio of the breading made this the star of the show. 5 stars for sure For the entrees, I ordered the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese, the Spicy Chicken Tortilla Soup, and Seasoned Fries. All noteworthy. I did have to box up the other half of the sandwich since I was running out of steam and didn't want to miss out on Dessert. Mom ordered the Chicken Fajitas with Corn Tortillas. She said it was the best she had ever eaten. We ordered the Route 66 Pecan Pie for Dessert (with a scoop of Henry's Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream on top). Enjoyed a few bites and boxed the remainder. We held a company dinner here one night and from start to finish, the staff was amazing - from when we inquired about hosting our dinner there to the night of our dinner. We had our event on 12/12 so it was completely decked out with Christmas decor. We had the entire patio to ourselves and it was perfect because half was indoor and the other half was outdoor. The onsite staffs were so sweet and provided excellent service to all of us! It was such a memorable time! The food was ok, though, everything was a bit on the spicy side. It was fine for me because I love spicy food and the flavor was great but for those who can't handle a lick of spicy food, it wasn't the greatest for them. I ordered the brunch burger and fries which came topped with a sunny side up egg, perfectly crispy bacon and smash style burger Pattie's and fries! Let me tell you something...it was so delicious! Large restaurant with a hip cowboy feel, plenty of seating and good vibe. Everyone else ordered a salad with protein and all seem to enjoyed it. We didn't let that ruin our night. It is a huge space however, it also is very packed because the food is definitely worth it. I had the red fish and that was pretty good. I would give it an eight out of 10 and I also had to Seabass, which I love tans, across-the-board, kissed a chef and all of that. I've been here numerous times for brunch, love that you can make reservations, but this time a friend and I decided to go for lunch and I look forward to returning soon. We had a great waiter, Austin, who did an amazing job at making recommendations for us. It was a beautiful day outside so we sat on the second floor of the restaurant and enjoyed the patio where they had fans going so it made it completely comfortable during a Texas summer (keep in mind, this was in September and not during the hottest months of the summer). We enjoyed the view and being able to look out and see the concert area. We started with the Pork Belly "Burnt Ends" which was absolutely amazing! So tender and the perfect amount of spicy and sweet flavoring. For lunch, my friend had the Blackened Catfish and Gulf Shrimp which Austin recommended she have grilled as opposed to my fried and my friend said it was a great choice. I decided to have the chef's special for the day which was fish tacos and a side - I chose the brussels sprouts which did not disappoint. The food was great and the ambiance was even better. I have mixed feelings about this place. The vibe is very nice and a bit fancy. The server was very kind and cared for our big party well. Most of the food was good--but let me go into each individual dish. The lump crab dip, AMAZING. 10/10 would go back again and get 3 of those. The mini elk tacos tasted like ground beef Taco Bell crunchy tacos... never had elk before but it tastes just like my home cooked ground beef. The steak and shrimp dish was described to me as a "chef special" that wasn't on the menu...when we got our check we were charged for each individual extra thing. Yes, everything you see on the steak besides maybe the mashed potatoes was an individual upcharge from the Brussels to the shrimp. So you can imagine it went from a $45 steak dish to almost $70. The price doesn't bother me, it's just the fact that it was all charged separately when it was supposed to be a "chef special" that I wouldn't have ordered if not told about. The topping and garlic pieces and mashed potatoes and Brussels were very good. The steak itself was a bit under seasoned but cooked the way I wanted. The bread pudding was very soggy but had good flavor. Not pictured was my drink which I waited for forever after reminding twice..it was a Monday night, so I was surprised it was pretty busy.
