Went here with my partner and got the family dinner combo which included a soft pretzel appetizer, large salad for the table, and a pizza of our choice. It was our first time, so we went for the Classic Rossa pizza. The pretzel was great and the salad was very large and delicious. The pizza I feel had too many toppings and came out somewhat soggy, tomatoes, spinach, and artichokes has a tendency to do that. Additionally, I am not much of a thin-crust person, but the crust stayed very crispy despite the soggy toppings. I think when I return, I will get a pizza with less wet toppings. The service was outstanding, I think the general manager was our waiter for some time, and she even got us a free order of queso because it was our first time dining with them. Originally I was a little apprehensive about it because I remember reading about the queso being accompanied by Frito Chips which sounded a bit odd- however, when it arrived, I tasted the dish as was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! The queso was a high quality queso with some robust flavors. For my entree I got the Cadillac Mac n' Cheese. This was next-level good. It was the perfect comfort food served piping hot. The fontina cheese and breadcrumbs really hit the spot! Overall Taverna Rossa was a home run for a Saturday night meal. The food was spectacular. We found out you can get a pizza 1/2 and 1/2 of two menu options for only $1 upcharge! I got the classic Rossa with feta only as I like my pizzas a bit less cheesy. My friends tried the Local Goat, Bee's Knees, and Pink Piggy. They reported that the Local Goat was the favorite with the pairing of goat cheese, fig, and the balsamic glaze. The Pink Piggy and Bee's Knees were both delicious and tasted fairly similar with a balance of honey sweetness to some heat/ spice. My friend loves the baked rigatoni and sausage and let me try some- highly recommend! The prices are a bit high, but it is a more expensive area of town, and unless you have a huge appetite, each pizza should feed two people pretty comfortably! The place can get crowded which makes it louder if you're seated close to others, so if that's a concern, maybe ask for seating in a quieter area. The restaurant is warm and homey. We had come for a celebration a few weekends ago and the food was phenomenal, especially the Ceasar salad, so on my way to carpool yesterday I ran by to pick up a Ceasar salad. Wow the disappointment. I asked that the salad be tossed in light dressing with some on the side (not a fan of heavy dressing) and to add chicken. The total for this salad was $23 !!!!! And the picture below was what I got for $23. Heavy tossed dressing and no chicken. And nothing special. This is a $10 salad anywhere else. I ent back in and they had to remake it again. I told them I was going to wait in my car which was right outside the door. They didn't even bother to come out and gesture that it was ready. They let me sit there and stuck the salad in the refrigerator. There was no one in the restaurant the service could have stood out for the atrociously expensive Ceasar salad. I asked where my chicken was and then they gave it to me. I ate it very unimpressed, it wasn't the salad o remembered just weeks ago and I completely felt ripped off. Order Vinnies cheese bread with marinara. It's an offer you can't refuse. More garlic than whatevers legal, but not offensive. Cheese. Cheese. Did I mention cheese? The best small bite ever. The pizza has a thick/thin crackerish feel. Almost like a thin Chicago style pie crust. Delicate and delish. The toppings all seasoned, savorlicious, stretchy pants worthy. My Overall Rating - 3 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - The best part of my experience was the Taverna Rossa's restaurant itself. It's warm, rustic, and is connected to a pub. There's tons of seating, a dedicated bar, a view into the kitchen (behind glass), and even a small stage when they have live music. Taverna Rossa has beautiful white brick throughout. 1 Star. Service - We had a big party and only one server dedicated to us. While she tried her best to help, the overall service suffered. A drink order was missed, water refills didn't happen, and the table piled up with dirty plates. I don't blame the server, I just wish she had help. 1/2 Star. Food - We started with a few apps including a meat and cheese plate. The presentation was great, but instead of crostini, it was served with pizza crust. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan. The slices were big and bland, lacking the flavor I get with other pizza places I go to. For my pizza, I went with "The Bees Knees". The description reminded me of the "Honey Badger" (served at a different joint), but the taste wasn't the same. Again, the same bland crust flavor appeared only to be overpowered by the fresh basil. On a good note, the beer selections and drink options were great, so we'll meet in the middle. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Maybe. I think I ordered the wrong pizza. While my single visit to Taverna Rossa was a miss, it's got tons of great reviews, so I think this one's on me. If I'm in the area and someone suggests it, I'm in. Taverna Rossa totally blew us away! The service was awesome, and they really made us feel special as first-time customers by giving us free queso. Our waiter Brayden was super friendly and on top of everything. He gave great recommendations and made the whole experience even better. The vibe here is so fun. There was awesome live music, and you could feel the energy with lots of tables laughing and having a great time. It is the perfect spot to hang out and enjoy good food with good company. We kicked things off with the Fritos and queso, and honestly, it was way more delicious than we expected. Such a fun and tasty twist. For the main event, we split a pizza with two different halves. One side was the Pink Piggy, which we both absolutely loved. It is a must-try. The other half was the monthly People's Pie. I cannot remember the exact name, but it was also really good. Love that they let you mix it up like that. I had the house cabernet, which hit the spot, and my girlfriend tried the Rossa Rita. She gave it a solid ten out of ten, so if you are into cocktails, go for it. They also have an awesome beer selection if that is more your thing. All in all, this place is amazing. I love trying new restaurants, and I came across this place through an Instagram reel. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is great when it's not too hot in Dallas. We checked in at the front desk to get our name on the list. Since we went during peak hours, they told us there might be a 15 to 30 minute wait, which was fine. We were seated in under 15 minutes! Our server was super friendly. Since it was our first time there, we asked for recommendations, and she suggested the Pink Piggy and the Bees Knees pizzas. They didn't take long at all to come out, and both were a hit! I also noticed they have Happy Hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 6 p.m., definitely something I'd come back for.
