    Complementary bread

Came here on a Saturday at 11:30am. Walking in the I thought the decor and set up was pretty and welcoming. The restaurant only had one other table but they did open at 11am so I just assumed people hadn't shown up yet. After seated was approached by a cook asking what we wanted to drink. He took our order, brought out our food all together bread, appetizers, salads and entrees. After food was delivered we didn't see anyone again the whole time. I ordered the linguine and clams, we had the Calamari and a Caesar salad. The bread they brought out was good but the oil that accompanied it was unseasoned and had entirely too much minced garlic. Salad was delicious, Calamari was severely underseasoned and the entree was very buttery but and still tasted like white wine. I wanted very much to love this place but honestly for nobody being in there I felt the service should have been more attentive. Nobody even asked if we wanted a refill on drinks. I wish I could give more than 2 stars but I just left disappointed

Perfectly done Lasagna! Browned, AS REQUESTED!!

By happenstance, my wife and I decided to try Mangia Bistro (MB) this past week, after my wife said she wanted "Italian" and I just happened upon a line from a review for MB that read in part, " the best Italian food I've ever had." Well, since I've actually eaten Italian food in Italy, I cannot say i that the food at MB was the "best" Italian food I've eaten, but it was very VERY good! I suppose we had never eaten at MB before because the restaurant's exterior is quite unassuming, and the restaurant's location is not something that evokes thoughts of great places to eat nearby. But, I am glad we gave it a try. Since we had not eaten at MB before, I decided we would splurge a bit and order an appetizer AND a dessert AND, a pizza from which we could split a slice and reserve the remainder for take home. As an appetizer, we ordered the Stuffed Mushrooms and for dessert, we had the Tiramisu. The Stuffed Mushrooms were tasty and were warm, not hot. The breading was interesting, sort of like a cornbread but, not really, with bits of cranberries. So savory with a hint of sweet. They were good and would have been great, had they been piping hot. But, I understand why they might allow them to cool a little before serving, since mushrooms tend to squirt scalding hot water immediately after being cooked, removed from a fryer. The homemade Tiramisu was sliced in pie shape, rather than the typical square that appears cut from a frozen, boxed ready-made option. The Tiramisu was obviously homemade and was delicious!! It was garnished with whipped cream and strawberries, and was drizzled with caramel, which was unique, but also delicious! We ordered the Margherita Pizza and though I am not a big fan of Sun-dried Tomatoes the pizza was also delicious! As our entrees, my wife had the Spaghetti Carbonara, I had the Lasagna. Both were very VERY tasty! The portion sizes were more than ample, given the amount of food we ordered. I generally order Lasagna when eating Italian and I usually ask for the cheese on top to be browned well. For some strange reason, I rarely receive what I hope to; as if the person doing the "browning" of my cheese is afraid of overdoing it. Hmmm... not possible! In this case, my Lasagna was perfectly done! The interior of MB was very clean and bright; decorated mostly in Honey Oak colored wood and Limestone. Our Server, Austin, was friendly and attentive. We only had water and iced tea for drinks and they were good, with nothing off putting to report. We will definitely be eating at MB again, and if you're looking for great Italian food, then you won't be disappointed if you too give Mangia Bistro a try!! Eat well. Be well. Cheers!

My husband and I stopped in on a whim for dinner. Italian food sounded good, but feeling frustrated with our usual places we decided to try somewhere new. We were so pleasantly surprised to find such a gem so close to home! We started with the complementary bread and garlic/olive oil. So good! We also had the fried mozzarella as an appetizer. It was fried to perfection, had the perfect cheese pull, and was paired with their marinara sauce. I had the shrimp & risotto, which I loved. The shrimp were perfect and I loved the veggies they included in the risotto. It came with a house salad that has a lovely balsamic vinaigrette. My husband had the chicken parm. He said it was also cooked perfectly and enjoyed the sautéed veggies that were served with it alongside the traditional spaghetti and marinara. He also appreciated the generous portion size. We will definitely make our way back here! Their desserts look beautiful, though we were full and did not try any. Every person we interacted with was beyond kind and welcoming. So glad that this place is here!

    Fettuccine Alfredo (half eaten)
    Dan H.

Once again. Not disappointed. Fettuccine Alfredo was fresh and piping hot. Was gonna request more parmesan but if you give it chance to absorb the cheese already in it, it will thicken up just perfectly. Didn't have a huge appetite, so the left over will work as a midnight snack.

    Salmon and shrimp combo.

Yet another amazing meal at Mangia Bistro! The food is always fresh and delicious with an amazing wine selection to choose from. The servers are all friendly helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and can always be counted on for a the right recommendation on what to order. I am a huge fan of this place and I am confident you will feel the same after your visit.

    Chicken TARTUFO Lunch pasta special
    Ashley B.

What a great find! Our server, Angelica, was so nice and attentive and the food was outstanding! We had the tartufo, Caesar salad, and risotto and were very impressed not just with the food but also the prices. The fresh bread is made in house and was crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. They serve it with a garlic olive oil dipping sauce that's perfect! We will definitely be back!

During Covid the then owners were very generous providing meals for many in the area. Bella was sold shortly after Covid and the new owners either did not know how to properly prepare good Italian food or didn't care, but in any case the quality of the bill o' fare suffered tremendously to the point where we no longer dealt with them. Fast forward to today and my wife and I decided to give them another try as the reviews we were seeing indicated a definite uptick in the quality of both in-house and take-out. We were very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the pizza (Supreme) which I picked up. The major downfall of most sub-par pizzas is the crust. Even if the ingredients are good, a poor quality crust spoils the entire dish. Not at Bella Italia! The pizza we brought home was SUPER!! The toppings were fresh and plentiful - a word of advice DON'T ask for extra toppings (which you pay for) as there are PLENTY on the basic order. The crust is light and flavorful. All in all, as good a pizza as we have had in a LONG time, and, their prices are reasonable. The lady who took my call in order was friendly, efficient, and professional. Additionally, when I was leaving she went to the front door and held it for me as I exited with my large pizza box and cane in hand. A very nice touch - THANK YOU.

The food was amazingly good--one of the best italian places I've had in a while. Our service was subpar. We were a group of 5 people all around the age of 23-24, and it seemed like our server just assumed that made all his shortcomings okay because he tried to act kind of bro-like with us. There were multiple periods of time where we were left alone for anywhere from 10 minutes to 40. It took us a LONG time to get our food even though we were one of maybe 4 parties in the restaurant. One friend got told they were out of something, ordered something else, and the waiter went, "that's a joke, right?" and told him they were out of that too. His entree came out almost a full 30-40 minutes after the rest of ours so he just packed it up to-go. Only a halfhearted apology that everything was taking so long and no type of compensation. The food was good enough that I would go back to try again since partner and I live in the area. But i really hope we don't get this guy as our server again.

They had no one at the hostess stand, no one at the bar, and no manager explaining what was going on. They even took the phone off the hook so they wouldn't have to deal with the dozens of people they left standing outside on a rainy cold night and unable to accommodate a reservation made a week earlier. When they realized they had an overbooking problem, they could have started calling or texting people to warn them their reservation would not be honored. That would have been the conscientious, professional thing to do so that we might have been able to make alternative arrangements on a busy valentine's day. But that's not what Cibo Cucina Italiana's management did. They just ignored the problem and allowed their customer's to arrive unaware and out of luck. Just absolutely terrible, incompetent management

It's clean and cozy. The BIG bar area is a nice touch. Also the indoor dining patio seating is great. SERVICE was great my waitress was pleasant, polite and professional. FOOD was a bit disappointing for me. The Pig pizza looked amazing. It tasted fresh and was piping hot. However, I think all the ingredients make it a bit salty. My palate wasn't feeling it. The Bolognese Pasta also looked fantastic. However, the meat sauce was lacking in flavor and seasoning. For this to be the house specialty it was lacking in taste. It was decent, but not great. Overall it wasn't all bad. The service and ambiance were great. I appreciated a new experience. I'm just not sure about the quality and taste of the food. The restaurant was very full, and we only planned to quickly grab a decaf cappuccino and some bread at the bar. I am 36 weeks pregnant. There was one open seat at the bar, and the two people sitting on either side were with other guests and did not appear to be leaving anytime soon. I asked the gentleman who had just stood up if he had closed his tab, and he confirmed that he had. Based on that, and the hostess directing us toward the bar, I sat down while my partner stood next to me. When we went to order a cappuccino, the male bartender immediately told us the bar had a waitlist and that the seat was "reserved." There was no reserved sign, and the guest had literally just vacated the seat. I explained that I was only grabbing a quick cappuccino and would not be there long. I even said, "No problem, I won't be here long," and made my intentions clear. Instead of working with that, he told me he would have to ask me to get up. I would have been perfectly happy to move once the party arrived or if the seat was actually needed. However, the interaction was handled abruptly and without basic courtesy or flexibility. What makes this more disappointing is that we had actually enjoyed the restaurant a few nights earlier. During that visit, Ashley took care of us and she was an absolute gem--warm, attentive, and exactly what great hospitality should feel like. I would highly recommend sitting with her. I had even met one of the investors during that visit. While I don't frequent Il Bracco regularly, I do know many people in the Dallas hospitality industry, including owners and operators, and situations like this are exactly the kinds of service breakdowns we discuss so they can avoid them in their own restaurants. Unfortunately, after this interaction, I will not be returning. The bartender's approach to guest interaction and basic hospitality needs serious attention. Good luck guys!
