Il Bracco was yummy and def a vibey little crowd. We came in for dinner on a Sunday evening and had a wonderful first experience. I have come to find myself in Preston Center a lot. It always makes me feel like I'm back home in a way. I had a glass of Chianti and we started with the focaccia with whipped ricotta. We both chose pasta dishes, I had the spicy gemelli and bestie had the bolognese which he didn't seem to like much but when I tried it I thought it tasted great. I don't care for a lot of meat sometimes so I wouldn't have ordered it as my main but it really complimented the spicy gemelli - perhaps going halfsies would have been a nice option. Service was attentive and our dishes came out fast, we sat indoors beside the bar but the patio could have been a really nice option if you're a patio person. I typically am not. SERVICE: At approximately 6:15pm on Thursday, March 5, 2026, we stopped by Il Bracco. The restaurant was very full, and we only planned to quickly grab a decaf cappuccino and some bread at the bar. I am 36 weeks pregnant. There was one open seat at the bar, and the two people sitting on either side were with other guests and did not appear to be leaving anytime soon. I asked the gentleman who had just stood up if he had closed his tab, and he confirmed that he had. Based on that, and the hostess directing us toward the bar, I sat down while my partner stood next to me. When we went to order a cappuccino, the male bartender immediately told us the bar had a waitlist and that the seat was "reserved." There was no reserved sign, and the guest had literally just vacated the seat. I explained that I was only grabbing a quick cappuccino and would not be there long. I even said, "No problem, I won't be here long," and made my intentions clear. Instead of working with that, he told me he would have to ask me to get up. I would have been perfectly happy to move once the party arrived or if the seat was actually needed. However, the interaction was handled abruptly and without basic courtesy or flexibility. What makes this more disappointing is that we had actually enjoyed the restaurant a few nights earlier. During that visit, Ashley took care of us and she was an absolute gem--warm, attentive, and exactly what great hospitality should feel like. I would highly recommend sitting with her. I had even met one of the investors during that visit. While I don't frequent Il Bracco regularly, I do know many people in the Dallas hospitality industry, including owners and operators, and situations like this are exactly the kinds of service breakdowns we discuss so they can avoid them in their own restaurants. In our recent trip to Dallas, was looking for a good Italian restaurant to try out, came across il Bracco, reviews were good for food, but mixed for service but still decided to try. We had made reservations for weekend lunch, decided to seat outside, as it was bit chilly outside, so inside was packed, and outside was only one table occupied, they had the heater and a blanket, it was so cozy. Our server was nice but absolutely zero attentiveness, like we had keep looking for him and flag him down, my son couldn't get his soda refilled, and he dint check not even once after we got our food, even though we were in mood for dessert, dint had patience to wait for him anymore, so asked my husband to get the check, and me n my kiddo walked across for a gelato place, and it took my husband almost 30mins to flag him down and to pay the bill, that's insane, they really have to work on there service part. We ordered: we shared HOUSE MADE FOCACCIA, I got CACIO E PEPE, hubby got SPICY GEMELLI, and kiddo AL LIMONE, Focaccia was good, I loved mine, hubby liked his, but kiddo dint like AL LIMONE, it was toooo bland. il Bracco has been on my list for years and I had the opportunity to grab dinner here recently with some friends. We had a large group of 6 people and were able to easily book a reservation and be seated once at least 4 of us had arrived. It was a Saturday night and the restaurant was packed compared to the ones around it! The hostesses and wait staff were all very kind and the entire place had a classy, warm ambiance. The menu was concise, offering a variety of Italian classics, wines and drinks. For our appetizer, we ordered two of the House Made Focaccia with whipped ricotta, roasted garlic, and thyme. Let me just say, this focaccia was amazing! It was beautifully baked, had a perfect olive oil crust on top along with the thyme. The whipped ricotta butter spread also had a pool of olive oil inside. It was spectacular! This dish was definitely my favorite part of the night and a reason that I plan to return! For my entree, I ordered the Pesto Rigatoni. The pasta was very well cooked and the amount of pesto was just right. One of my friends also ordered this pasta and enjoyed it as well. The rest of my group ordered the Spicy Gemelli, Cacio E Pepe and Pesto Crusted Salmon. No one had negative things to say about their dishes. I also tried the Spicy Gemelli myself, and I would love to order the dish during my next visit here. For drinks, a couple of my friends ordered the Bracco, with is frozen greyhound with Aperol, New Amsterdam and fresh grapefruit. They said it was delicious, and one of them, who had visited this restaurant before, said it was her favorite thing on the menu. I came here on a date. We had a reservation and were sat ~30 minutes late, as they were running behind. Good for them being so popular but this restaurant was sooo noisy that we couldn't hear each other speak. It's definitely good for groups, but I wouldn't so much recommend it for an intimate date. My dessert also came with a lit candle! So sweet. To start, we ordered the focaccia and artichokes. The focaccia was dense and so flavorful. It came with slightly sweet whipped ricotta and really good olive oil. The artichokes were awesome and served with a delicious and tangy aioli. For my entree, I ordered the spicy gemelli. I could tell it was al dente just from putting it on my fork. It was just fantastic, one of the best vodka pastas I've had in my life. It was so creamy, spicy, and melt-in-your-mouth good. The parmesan and basil on top complemented it so well. For dessert, we had the italian sundae (a must if you love sweet/salty dishes and olive oil!) and the lemon tart. Came here with my sister for her birthday and overall the food, cocktails, and our server were all great. We had a reservation, arrived early as requested, and were seated right away. The restaurant itself is pretty loud since it's a small space and all the voices carry, so it can be a little hard to hold a conversation, but that wasn't the main issue. The focaccia bread appetizer is usually amazing and one of my favorite things to order, but this time it came out burnt and was really hard to bite into, which was disappointing. The most frustrating part was that before I had finished eating about 20 minutes after receiving our food, another server who was not ours came by and took my plate while I was still clearly working on it. I had ordered the roasted chicken and was saving the drumstick for last, along with a couple bites of the thigh and breast, and she took the whole plate before I was done. It happened so fast that I didn't even have a chance to say anything--we were in the middle of a conversation, I had just gotten my drink, and before I could react, my plate was gone. I was honestly shocked that she wouldn't ask if we were done before taking our food. It made me feel rushed and left me still hungry. What made it more frustrating was that we were in no hurry to leave, and other tables around us were not being cleared the same way. Our actual waiter was excellent, so this was not his fault at all, but that one interaction really changed the experience. First, the service is amazing. Great waiter and host. Second, timing of reservations. You should definitely book 3-4 weeks in advance if you want a starting time of 6p-7p on the weekends. If you want to eat much earlier or later, you can book later. I booked a 430pm, and, upon leaving, there were hoards of people waiting. Back to the service. The arugula salad tasted so bitter, and there was no lemon/lime to help cut that bitterness. I think there was a mistake so I told the waiter, and he asked me if I wanted lemons or to order another salad all together. So I did the latter with their kale salad. The food was brought really quickly, the support staff brought it quietly. I would always recommend staff that when they drop off food, to see if there is anything we needed (in this case, a clean plate). So I asked for that. Third, the food. The polenta was creamy but with a lot of butter that could be seen seeping out. Very tasty, though. Broccolini was decent, too, as well as the kale salad. Overall, it was a decent experience. When we arrived to the restaurant, it was packed, like completely full. Tons of people in the front waiting for their tables. We had to wait an extra 30mins after our reservation time to be seated. However, it was worth the wait. Manager (I think) sat us in a cozy booth, and ordered us the crispy artichoke app and 2 mocktails on the house. I thought that was a super kind gesture, because he didn't have to do that for us. We weren't upset about the wait since, I had already read reviews stating that we would have to wait beyond our reservation time before coming here. For our entrees I ordered the NY Strip medium rare and my hubby ordered the lasagna special with a side of seasonal veggies which was cauliflower. Everything tasted perfect, and we left overstuffed. Overall, I'm so happy I found this restaurant on Yelp, and happy we had a good experience! Definitely, would recommend to friends, because the food is delicious! However, to my neurodivergent friends out there.. this place is extremely crowded, loud, and I would say has an energetic atmosphere. This place is truly bougey... from the crowd to the menu prices, so do some mental adjusting if you need to before you go in. But with that you do get some top tier service from the waitstaff. The frozen greyhound was the perfect drink for a hot summer day. I had about three. The fried artichokes, we were told, were a must order. Interestingly, the dipping sauce was better than the actual fried artichoke, still really good though. The meatball appetizer with the focaccia and side of whipped ricotta is a meal on its own and was a top 3 meatball of all time. Simply perfect. My wife's scallop dish smelled really fishy as it was placed in front of her but didn't taste that way thankfully. I thought they were cooked a bit under, but she didn't mind. The gemelli alla vodka was an absolute delight. Perfectly cooked pasta and an amazingly executed sauce. It was probably a good idea to have a reservation because they were packed. There were a lot of people sitting down and there were people also waiting for a table. It took us only 1 or 2 mins to sit down. We decided to share a few items: Sicilian Crudo- tasty & fresh, would order again Spicy Gemelli- the sauce/flavor was good.. but I would not order again. The pasta itself was kinda dry, chewy, and seemed undercooked slightly. Cacio e Pepe- would not order again. The entire dish was too dry and all the pasta was just stuck together cuz of the sauce. It was a solid start to our meal. For our entrees, we ordered 2 pastas - the spicy gemelli and cacio e pepe. I thought the pasta itself was outstanding. While both dishes were very good, the standout to me was the spicy gemelli, which was made with gemelli, spicy vodka sauce, basil, and reggiano. As a dessert, we ordered the tiramisu which we also enjoyed. The atmosphere is relatively upscale. Our service was pretty good, but our waiter originally forgot one pasta, so we had to ask for it again and got it when we had already finished the other. I need to say that this place has the best Caesar salad I've ever had. The lettuce is so crisp and fresh. I just had to mention this because it was exceptional. Ok, so on to the rest of the experience. I will say that if you are planning to do more than dinner for the night, I would save this restaurant for a different time, the wait is very long, even with reservations. They have no spot to wait in the front either, so people just crowd around up there and it gets overwhelming. That being said, everything else was good. The pasta dishes here are so tasty and well cooked. I loved the bolognese. And the side dishes were a good complement, but as a stand alone, were just okay. We did also have a bunch of desserts, which are definitely heavy, but tasty. A little on the sweet side as well, so just for your information. Overall, good food, long wait. Definitely a place to have a great meal if you have all night to do so. read more
