Very average meal. Very average service. Overpriced food. We got a $73 bottle of wine that retails for $14 at total wine. The ricotta bruschetta was salty. The Caesar salad isn't the same as Carbone like they said. The starters provided complimentary are not good. Overall, do not waste time or money here. There was 10 people in line for the bathroom. They were not cleaned. Get the Carbone sauce at the grocery store.
So, I've been to Carbone and loved it. Vino feels more casual, and the menu is basically the same with a few differences. The main ones I noticed were the bread basket, the tableside Caesar, and the dessert menu. I really liked the bread basket at Carbone and was looking forward to it at Vino, but here they just do sesame bread. Tableside anything is always fun (and usually costs more), but at Vino the salad was the same price and not done tableside. I still got the spicy rigatoni and it was just as good. For dessert, I didn't see any cakes, so we went with the cannoli gelato, which was good. Prices are the same at both spots since they're connected, but it did take a while for our food to come out on a Saturday night. I'd still pick Carbone over Vino.

It's all in one building I thought they were separate...anyway it was GREAT! Me and a friend sat at the bar after making a reservation earlier in the day for Vino because Carbone didn't have any reservations. It looks like the menu was the same, except that I think vino has smaller portions. The spicy rigatoni was a 10 out of 10. I definitely understand the hype. It was so good!! I also had an appetizer where I got the meatballs. My bartender/server Kenny told us to try them and it did not disappoint. They tasted like baby shower meatballs with a small crunch...iykyk. The steak was just OK. It really had no flavoring at all, but the pesto under it really saved it for the flavor. I will go back just for more appetizers and pastas. I probably will skip the steak completely. The ambience in the vibe here is unmatched. The service was amazing and our bartender took very good care of us. Just know... As you probably already do... Come here ready to spend money. I loved it for the ambience but I also left full which I liked.
Obsessed with the spicy rigatoni vodka, easily the standout of the night. All of the food was really good, and the atmosphere was beautiful and lively, making it a great spot for a night out. We also loved that they have bocce ball in the restaurant, such a fun and unique touch. Overall we enjoyed the experience and would come back. That said, the cocktails weren't our favorite, and for the price point, the service could have been a touch more attentive. Next time we'll likely stick to wine. Still a great spot and worth visiting
Went for my sister's bachelorette dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. We sat at a large long table with a party of 9 and the service was top tier. Every course was carefully timed and prepped for our ultimate enjoyment. The food was incredible and I would most definitely order the gnocchi, Caesar salad, and Brussel sprout dishes again. The quality of the menu, service, and even other facets such as the bathrooms and ambiance were all stellar in delivery. I am really happy we chose this spot for such a special occasion.
My Son wanted to go to Carbone for his birthday. They didn't have a reservation time available that would work. So we made our reservation at Vino. It's a bit confusing, because they're basically the same restaurant. As Vino, bar side, sits literally a table and some decorative plants over from Carbone side. Their parking lot is mostly for Valet. If you don't want to pay for valet, you have a bit of a trek from a lot across the driveway entrance to the complex. Which, as a disabled person, wasn't fun. They should leave some of their handicapped parking accessible, in the valet lot, for people like me. Once you arrive at Vino's entrance "door", you realize it's not an actual door, lol. You have to enter at Carbone's door! Everyone is very courteous, from opening the door to enter the restaurant, to the staff at the hostess stand, drink server and our personal server. Kate is funny, polite, attentive, caring, knowledgeable and simply a damn good server! The main difference from Carbone is Vino's menu. It is the short version of Carbone's. It's not bad, for example, the meatball app is simply a smaller version of the app than on the Carbone side. And Vino has their favorites, like the spicy rigatoni, the popular foods. We started with espresso cocktails. Followed my apps of calamari, truffle ricotta bread, mini meatballs and a salad. All very good For entrees, we ordered a Margherita pizza, their famous Spicy Rigatoni Vodka Pasta and an order of their deconstructed lasagna. All very good, and it's true what everyone says about the spicy rigatoni, it's amazing! Lastly, Kate brought out the hazelnut, chocolate ganache cake w a candle for the birthday boy It was rich, so sharing one slice was a smart decision... All in all a great experience!
Finally was able to get to Vino, unfortunately I was not super impressed. They are known for their spicy rigatoni vodka, we ordered two dishes and both were cold. We did not say anything because it was the end of the night and they were closing soon. Also, 3 out of 4 people that had it that evening got sick a few hours later (we all live separately and were texting at 3am with stomach problems - this was the only thing we all ate). Also, we really enjoyed the whipped ricotta appetizer but half of the bread that came out with it was super toasted, burned completely basically. Good - Whipped ricotta Caesar salad Bolognese pasta Espresso martinis Not good - Calamari Spicy rigatoni vodka pasta Veal parmigiana Steak The service was good!
My friend and I came here for a dinner while on vacation and it was nothing short of amazing! We came on a Thursday night and it wasn't busy or overcrowded. We made a reservation which highly recommend just to secure a table. The service was really good. We each ordered the spicy vodka rigatoni and split the chicken Parmesan. The whole experience was amazing and the food definitely lived up to the hype!
We took my nephew here to celebrate graduation, so 4 total.. Nice ambiance with some semi outdoor seating and indoor seating as well. We ordered several dishes starting with some calamari. This was incredibly fresh but the batter did seem slightly undercooked. It wasn't a big deal mainly because the sauce that comes with it is delicious and frankly, the calamari was just a vehicle for the sauce. We ordered two pasta dishes which the server said feeds 2-4 people. Ok, if people means skinny folks who nibble then yes. I considered these appetizer portions. First the bolognese with some fancy pasta name I have never heard of was the highlight of the evening. Absolutely delicious. The other was a gnocchi dish which some variant name for gnocchi that made no sense. Very good dish. The gnocchi were very tasty. Our main dishes are where things went South. We ordered the 40oz Bistecca Fiorentina which is a big porterhouse. Our server said this was a 40 day dry aged steak. I don't know if she got confused with the size of the steak and aging or what. This was a $375 steak that was not dry aged for a day. I have enjoyed dry aged beef at some of the best restaurants in the country and this was not aged beef. The other dish was lobster Mulberry style. This had a good spicy sauce and some Italian sausage. Here's the good and the bad. The lobster was cooked to perfection! The sauce and the sausage were good. The bad is that all you could taste was the sauce and sausage. They completely overpowered the lobster so all you got was lobster texture and very little lobster flavor. Service is another reason for 3 stars, which 3 is being quite generous. First when we told her it was our first time she winds up and starts rapidly going through her favorite dishes which was basically everything short one or two items. Mixed in is some guidance on how to order and if we order this or that she will throw in these sides or that side. She also explained to me what dry aging is even though I am well aware but I get it, some people may not. Finally, on the guidance on how to order, I asked my wife quietly if she understood anything this young lady was saying. She understood no more than me. So I told the server what we were thinking and she said it was perfect. Lucky I guess. When we were finished I mentioned that I did not believe that was a dry aged steak and surely not 40 days. She basically as nice as she could said I didn't know what I was talking about. I remained very polite and even told her to go ahead and try a bite. No one was trying to get a discount or anything for free but her demeanor seemed to imply such. Look, the steak was just okay. It was a little undercooked and slightly tough. Look at the picture, once a steak is cut you can't send it back to go on the grill for a little longer. What it definitely was not is dry aged. Eventually she comes back to the table and said while she didn't try the steak, she spoke to the chef. That was it. That's all she said which led me to believe the chef probably did not say something she could repeat. I said no problem. I wasn't going to argue. Never visited by a manager and didn't bother asking. Unfortunately while the ambiance and the bolognese were big hits, we would not return here. The service was sub par and the issues with the food were just to much for a $1,000 dinner. I wouldn't recommend this place.
Absolutely LOVE Carbone Vino! Carbone is located in the Design District of Dallas. There is valet or self parking in the lot in front of the restaurant. Seating is indoor and outdoor but the outdoor is covered by a roof so it's great even if it is raining outside. If you choose the indoor experience, it's a dark moody environment but the outdoor experience is bright with light and plants. The food is tremendously delicious here! I love getting the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta and Italian cookies. There is a great wine selection and they have sommeliers who can help you choose which selection works best for you. We also tried their chicken and broccoli which was good as well. The meal comes with complimentary salami, cheese, pickled cauliflower and bread as an appetizer. Our waiter was very nice and great at his job! He made us feel very welcome and knew a bunch about the menu. I suggest making a reservation because this place gets packed fast and it's hard to get in. We made a resy about a month out. I would definitely recommend this place to other people!

Caesar Alla Zz, Tuna Calabrese, Prosciutto & Mozzarella, Spicy Rigatoni Vodka, Lobster Ravioli, Mario's Meatballs, Veal Parmesan, Ribeye Diana, Broccoli Rabe, Potatoes Louie, Chocolate Hazelnut Terrine, Carrot Cake Ohmygoodness this was a dream of a meal. We reserved the private room for our joint birthday party, which is this very intimate but ornate room with the iconic pink chandelier and a wall of mirrors to make the room feel more spacious. The walls are green with interesting beautiful designs. The bread basketswere probably our favorite thing, which sounds silly, but that tomato foccacia and garlic bread are lifechanging good. The spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta is an absolute must--we each got a plate of it! The lobster Ravioli and meatballs were favorites as well. Now to be fully transparent, most of us were stuffed by the time we got to the main entrees and certainly so by desserts, so I didn't take too many bites after a certain point but I do think the potatoes Louie stood out and the Veal parm! ----HOT TIP---YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR PRIX FIXE MENU!!!!---- I came to Carbone Vino for one reason: the $60 prix fixe menu that I'd seen heavily advertised on Facebook. Apparently, that was information I was NOT supposed to know. When our server arrived, she handed us the regular menus. No mention whatsoever that a prix fixe menu even existed. For a few panicked seconds I thought I had somehow mixed up the days and missed it. (It's offered Monday through Thursday.) I had to specifically ask her for the prix fix menus (the disappointment on her face was palpable- meaning less tip) Honestly...why is it a secret? - And this the biggest reason that I deleted 1 star, and almost deleted 2 stars, thank goodness the guy who makes the pasta is on the ball!!! If you're offering a prix fixe menu, hand diners the menu!!! Or at least ask, "Are you interested in our prix fixe tonight?" It felt VERY DECEPTIVE (bait and switch really!), like maybe if enough people don't know about it they'll just order off the regular menu instead. Don't make me feel like I'm asking for the secret menu at In-N-Out. (OR, if it must be kept secret, then have it as an option on the RESY reservation) As a former New Yorker and someone who follows "it" restaurants, I've wanted to try Carbone since it opened here in Dallas a few years ago. Only recently did I even know Carbone VINO existed and that it was an adjoining restaurant in the same building that offered the Prix fix - I thought there was only ONE Carbone, and I'm glad I did the research, bc had I made a reservation at Carbone (original) expecting the prix fixe I don't know what I would have done (would I have asked to switch dining rooms?, maybe?, but AWK-WARD...), and I am 1000% positive that happens to people all the time!! The restaurant does a fair job trying to create an intimate Italian atmosphere, but at the end of the day it's still inside a giant warehouse in the Dallas Design District. We had a 6:15 reservation and were seated at a table for four in a virtually empty "dining room"...right next to the registers, the water station, and the bocce court, sandwiched between the makeshift "hedge" separating Carbone from Carbone Vino and the giant garage-style doors. (See my photo.) - This was NOT a great seating option and should be eliminated, as I can;t imagine this place is ever packed enough that they even need this table. Meanwhile, there were plenty of cozy tables sitting empty just 20 feet away by the bar. They were still empty when we left an hour and a half later. I probably should have asked to move, but I honestly assumed the restaurant would fill up around us....but It never did. One more odd observation: our antique wooden table had that permanent old-table stickiness where your napkin sort of glues itself to the surface. Not dirty. Just...vintage sticky. Now for the important part: the food. For $60 per person the prix fixe - We split the Caesar salad, sweet and sour meatballs, spicy rigatoni vodka (obviously), and tartufo tortelloni. Desserts were the cheesecake and the cannoli sundae. The bread service included excellent bread, mortadella, and pickled vegetables. I had mistakenly expected the famous Parmesan wheel and a bigger assortment of breads, but maybe that's exclusive to the original Carbone. (just over the hedge!) I still would have appreciated some butter or olive oil. The Caesar salad was good, although I found the famous croutons a little greasy. The meatballs had a thicker crust than I expected and ended up being my least favorite dish. Then the pasta arrived - Now I understood the hype. Both pastas were phenomenal. The spicy rigatoni absolutely deserves its reputation. The pasta itself had the perfect chew, and somehow every bite tasted even better than the last. The tartufo tortelloni was equally outstanding, the ricotta filling was so fresh and perfect. Dessert finished things on a good note too. The menu said guava cheesecake, but ours was strawberry instead, which I actually preferred. The cannoli sundae was fantastic, and the ice cream had this wonderfully chewy texture that made it Kinda different ... The bathrooms were beautiful, and service was efficient, although it felt a little tooo polished to the point of being almost scripted. Overall, I'm glad I finally went. The appetizers were just okay, the seating was baffling, and I still think hiding the prix fixe menu is a NEARLY CRIMINAL. But those pastas? Worth every bit of the hype. One last piece of advice: if you're going Monday through Thursday, ASK FOR THE PRIX FIXE MENU. Apparently, they aren't going to volunteer that information. read more

A lot of people have told me it's just not worth the visit but my boyfriend brought me here as a surprise for our anniversary date and I was NOT disappointed!! First off, LOVED the vibe of this place. It felt like we were back in Italy again haha sooo cute. We started the night off with an old fashioned and my classic espresso martini at the bar - both wonderful options. I normally don't like old fashions but this was tasted pretty good! Talented bartenders. Next off we got served their free bread and parm, and let me just tell you right now - BEST FREE BREAD EVER! I could devour a huge plate of just that by itself. We then got the truffle bread which my boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed. I'm not huge on truffle stuff especially when it's overpowering but this was doable for me! We then got the mushroom pizza which was honestly alright to me, nothing special at all. We got an order of the meatballs and those were soooo good!! Perfect amount of savory and sweet, i put some on the truffle bread and this was a yummy mix!! We got the famous spicy rigatoni as well and this was definitely not a miss - I would come back just for this!! Loved the texture of the pasta, you can tell it's made fresh. I got a side of the broccoli as well and omg the freshest and greenest broccoli I've ever seen!! Finished the night off with the pistachio gelato which was a miss to me. Tasted way too Ivey and not creamy enough at all. Definitely give Vino a visit, you won't regret it!! Cute that they give out free matches too, adorable. read more

We tried this place recently and had a good time. The place is darkly lit, which sets a cool vibe. Our server was friendly and walked us through the menu and explained how it would be coursed out with our small table. We tried the sweet and sour meatballs, spicy rigatoni vodka and the chicken parmesan. Everything tasted great. The chicken parmesan was pricey ($49), but we made 2 meals out of it. It was delicious. I would highly recommend the chicken parmesan and spicy rigatoni vodka. Great flavor and not overwhelmingly spicy. We got the hazelnut cake to go and enjoyed that as well. The only down side was waiting to get the check. Our server was friendly, but also chatty, especially to the table behind us. I learned how they met, how long they were dating, married, if they wanted kids and their names. All while waiting for our check. We will be back to the main side. read more

I wish we could rate in half stars... I would rate a 3.5. Overall we thought the spicy rigatoni vodka was delicious and could see why it was hyped up. Is it worth $34? Not really. I've made something similar at home. The complimentary focaccia was amazing. So soft and had such good flavor. I think the same bread was used as the croutons on the Caesar salad. However, I don't think that makes the salad worth $20?!? Skip the chicken Parmesan.... It's not worth the $54 or something like that. The drinks were good but nothing special. I definitely think wine is the way to go here. We were also a little bummed cause we were coming for a late anniversary dinner and I added that to our reservation notes. The waiter also asked why we were visiting and we told her for our anniversary. There was nothing special about this dinner for our anniversary as some other places would have done. I think a restaurant of this caliber should make more of an effort to celebrate events like anniversaries, birthdays, etc. especially for the price point. I just think that was a miss. Would we come back? Sure, but only for pasta and bread. Save your money on everything else - it's overhyped. read more

When a place like Carbone opens in your city and you are a self proclaimed foodie, you go. And, for better or for worse, you have some expectations. Those expectations happen to be pretty high as Dallas' food game is always improving and is pretty dam good right now. With that said, I really wanted to love this spot. The ambiance is outstanding. Great music, vibe scene, and copious amounts of Italian foods -- what's not to love? Well for starters, the food was just ok. There were a couple of dishes that were good but when the most memorable thing about the meal is the bread and table side fresh parmesan you may have peaked early (like that kid that was cool in high school that never did anything after). We had several cocktails, a bottle of vino, and tons of food. I started with a whisky sour next door at Vino which was also tasty. My dining partner got a Negroni and it was good as well. Also, they have the nice big clear cubes so feel free to go nuts with nice drinks. For starters we got the calamari and the crudo. Both were pretty good. I liked the crudo as it had a great variation of textures from the silky fish to some crunch. The calamari was fine, maybe a little too breaded. Presentation of all the items was great. Service was also good. We did specify we wanted Dallas' finest to avoid the surprise charges for water everyone posted on here about (thanks yelpies for the tip). For the pasta course we got the lobster ravioli and the spicy rigatoni. Both were good but nothing to write home about. The ravioli was a squid ink and served with lobster chunks on the side. I was expecting the lobster to be in the ravioli- isn't that the point? The rigatoni was something I was really looking forward to since everyone posts about its amazingness. It was ok. Just tasted a little over cooked to me and a bit too creamy. It was fine but definitely not the best pasta I've ever had. Not even the best pasta in dallas. For entrees, we got the chicken and the sole. Both were good but the fact that they debone the fish table side was some next level presentation. Super smooth job by our server and he got all the bones!!!! The fish was good but I liked the chicken the best. It was cooked perfectly with no extra chewy factor that most restaurants do to chicken. Oh we also got dessert. The tiramisu was not good but that Ferraro rocher chocolate thing was DELICIOUS!!! Might be worth another visit for dessert. Now to the reason the meal goes from what would otherwise be a 4 star review down to a 3. Being frequent fine diners in dallas, we are accustomed to the pricier menus and smaller portions most places have and we never really have an issue with it. I'm also always in search of value (some may call me cheap but I'm down to spend $$$$$ on experiences we enjoy). However, from a value perspective, carbone fails. I think our meal for 4 was something like $850 with tip. Totally fine if it was amazing. It just wasn't amazing. It was fine but we won't be throwing it in the regular rotation (maybe for a night cap or dessert!). read more
There are two carbones off one street. Carbones with an S is a Dallas local off oak lawn. CARBONE with no S and vino is the one from nyc. This is the one from NYC. Don't mistake the two. I recommend: Whipped ricotta, 4/5. Very light and fluffy. The bread came with ours was very charred. The bitterness overpower the ricotta. Cesar salad, 4/5. Very good and the croutons was yum! Cesar salad has anchovies fyi. It's usually mash in so people can't tell but they include the whole anchovies in their Cesar salad here. If you're freaked out about it, ask for it off salad. spicy rigatoni, 5/5 so good! Pastas are fresh so it's a little chewy. Presentation needs work mafaldini bolognese, 5/5 flavorful, cheesy, has meat, nice presentation rosemary potato, 6/5. This was so good!!! You must get this! Hazelnut chocolate cake, 5/5 The affogatos are not on menu yet. We special requested those and asked them to add on menu so maybe you will see it on menu one day! It's a scoop of gelato and a shot Of espresso if you want to order it. This was 5/5. Skip the ribeye and pizza. Steak was bland and I wasn't a fan of pizza. What a wonderful experience! I went with 3 friends and though it's definitely not an every day/week/month type of place because of the cost, they offer delicious food and great service. We started out at a bar table for drinks, which were all very good and nicely presented. The host was very friendly and funny, and once we got drinks moved us to our dinner table. We ordered a few entrees and appetizers for the table, including the caprese salad and calamari. I have celiac and need to eat gluten free, and was able to eat the salad, as well as the gluten free version of the spicy rigatoni. My friends loved the veal entree as well as their pasta dishes and everything was presented so beautifully! For dessert, all of the gelato options are gluten free except for one with cookies, and I chose the strawberry flavor which was amazing! It was a large serving too which is refreshing. The staff overall was incredibly attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable - especially awesome was the staff member Peter, who rattled off 10+ items that would be gluten free (he was more aware of these options than our server!), chimed in to provide bar suggestions for after dinner, checked in on us regularly for refills and seeing if we needed anything, and told us about the history of the restaurant and it's next door neighbor Carbone. You're going for the experience and you're going for the bragging rights, that's about it. Service was impeccable, they have a system where you have a captain and the captains assistant. The captain takes your order, talks about the food with you, accommodates any needs. The assistant brings out the food along with other servers and serves you, both check on the table frequently. Both of our servers were impeccable, personable, and overall the best part of the dinner. They were very well accommodating to our religious needs. Once we informed them that it was Ramadan so we would be opting out of the drink menu, the Captain took it upon herself to inform us of any dishes that included pork; without us even asking. As someone with religious dietary restrictions, this was an incredibly kind and commendable thing to do. You're not doing to get this service anywhere else. The food is okay. The bread that you start off with is great, so are the starters. The entree's such as the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka Pasta and the Chicken Massimo are average to below average and are able to replicated at home and could probably be better at home with a few additions (which you can do as all of the recipe's are listed on Major Food Group's website). For dessert we ordered the Tiramisu, which is less of a Tiramisu with lady fingers and more of a Tiramisu cake. If you asked me to go back for the service, I'd be on my way immediately. If you asked me to go back for the food, I'd kindly decline. Also, I left my wallet in the car and rather than the valet getting my wallet or bringing my car up for me to grab it, he gave me the keys and told me to get them myself. Really? I'm pretty forgetting, so this isn't my first time doing that. Can confidently say I've never been told to do that. Even if it were for liability reasons, just bring the car to the front. Once again, if you win a reservation; take your pictures, posts your posts, talk with the lovely staff, and be on your way. This was a birthday dinner and for the price of everything, it was a little underwhelming. We started off the night with a 30-minute wait for our reserved dinner. Next, we (4 guests) each started off with an appetizer, calamari and mozzarella sticks. The calamari was very delicious, had a nice spice, and was filling. The mozzarella sticks were different, didn't have much cheese inside and the sauce that accompanied it wasn't too good. Now, for the main course: the spicy vodka rigatoni pasta. We asked specifically if the portions were able to feed 4 people and they said yes. Well, when the meal came out, the two portions equaling $68 left us each with a scoop and a half. The pasta was very tasty, but the portion size was too small! Lastly, the chicken Parmesan was toted as this big dish that was going to make us full and it too was a disappointment. I like this restaurant, but it won't be a go to in the DFW area, there are too many Italian American restaurants who provide more than decent sized portions. The ambiance on the Vino side is nice and a little noisy,but suited for casual experience. Overall, the food is great here, but the portions aren't, which is a big deal for me. Jonathan was absolutely phenomenal! We felt so taken care of and truly had the best VIP experience! He was incredibly attentive, engaging, and knowledgeable! Felt like he quickly got an idea of what our tastes would be and made all the perfect recommendations. Every bite from start to finish of our meal was so so delicious, heart-warming, and the flavors and textures were incredible and our drinks were perfect. Thankful to have also met a lot of the staff from our bartender to chef and we just felt like part of the Vino family. 100000/10 highly recommend to all and will definitely be back asap! read more
A very elegant restaurant with a lot of attention to all the details, such as decor, music and everything else in between. A lot of classic lovely music in the background (think frank Sinatra and similar) The food was excellent, and can tell a lot of the ingredients weee home made and fresh. Outdoor seating was spacious and had good ventilation. The pasta was my favorite ever. Looks plain and simple but don't let that fool you because the flavor is bursting in my mouth. So impressed with this pasta! I was satisfied with our order. The server was very attentive to us the whole night. read more

Yes, it's actually pretty casual. Men can definitely wear shorts. It's a large patio that's covered. There are some who dress up more, but plenty of people who are not.
