Came with my friend for dinner and we decided to try the Dallas Restaurant Week menu. Parking was pretty easy using valet and we were seated immediately upon arriving. We made it in time for happy hour so we ordered drinks and snacks from that menu - wine, Negroni, and marinated olives, fries, and almonds. These were a delicious start to our meal service and definitely worth the try! For the course servings, I ordered the Neapolitan meatballs, red oak and bibb lettuces, spicy rigatoni + crispy chicken, and lemon cheesecake bite! My friend ordered the Japanese eggplant, tagliatelle, and cannoli. The food was delicious and pastas fresh! Adding the crispy chicken to the rigatoni was an excellent choice. My only complaint was the meatballs were dry and could've been a bit more moist. The restaurant's lights did go out for about 10 mins; however, the staff handled it so professionally you never would've noticed it! They were so on point! With the intent to try "something different" in the Design District, we made a reservation for a Saturday evening at Ospi a few hours earlier. Seating for two was available was at the bar, which is fine. Bar seating leads to recommendations, entertainment as drinks are made and conversations with people that normally would not happen. Back to the experience... We were promptly seated, I ordered a glass of 'Super Tuscan' red wine, she ordered a 'Rebecca's Margarita'. The wine was good, the margarita fantastic. We ordered an appetizer of whipped ricotta, followed by entrees "Tonarelli" (cacio e Pepe) and Lasagna. Flavorful. Service was prompt, friendly, conversational. Water glasses never reached empty. Food arrived in an appropriate time. The decor is cool. pasta being made in one corner of the dining room. One wish would be to see a side salad added to the menu. Came here for a birthday dinner on a Friday night and the hosts were friendly and had our table ready on time. We started with meatballs and the ricotta focaccia, both were okay. We order a lot for the table and the stars of the show were the vodka pizza and chicken parm. The pizza was so thin and the fresno pepper was the right amount of kick while the chicken parm was cooked to perfection. Honestly, this might be my favorite Italian restaurant in Dallas...every experience is deliciously wonderful! I love the decor and ambience and most importantly the food! Our go to is the kale salad, I'm obsessed, you must get extra dressing. Most recently, we tried the meatballs, crispy provolone and whipped ricotta, I'd get them every time, over and over, absolutely delicious, cleaned the plate. Ospi was somewhere I had wanted to try ever since it opened, so I was excited to finally see what all the hype was about. We started with the whipped ricotta and focaccia, which was good but nothing crazy, the calamari, which was perfectly fried with great dipping sauces, and the kale salad, which I enjoyed but didn't quite live up to the hype. Everyone said the "greatest kale salad" but it was just another kale salad to me. They accidentally brought us the crispy provolone, and it ended up being pretty good! For entrees, we got the Margherita pizza, which was super thin but nothing to rave about, the spicy rigatoni, which I wish had more tangy Calabrian chili flavor but was still one of the better spicy rigatonis in Dallas, and the tagliatelle, which was overrated compared to what I'd seen online. Service was slow since the chefs were still training, but everyone was incredibly kind. The managers even comped our appetizers because of the extremely long wait. Ospi had been on my radar ever since they opened a couple of months ago. I was excited to finally check it out! They took over the former Meddlesome Moth space, which I always enjoyed going to. So I had high expectations for this place. I will say that Ospi has completely transformed it The interior is absolutely beautiful and feels nothing like the previous restaurant. The design has a bright, Southern Italian coastal vibe. We chose to sit on the enclosed patio, which was comfortable and fully climate-controlled. Even in the middle of a Texas summer, it stayed cool and made for a really enjoyable dining experience Service was excellent! Our server was attentive and kept our drinks refilled throughout the meal The food was very good overall, with several dishes that I would absolutely order again. The standouts were the Kale Salad, Focaccia with Whipped Ricotta, Tagliatelle alla Emiliana, Funghi Pizza, and the Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream The Funghi Pizza was my favorite dish of the night. It was incredibly flavorful. The crust was super thin and not crispy, but super light and chewy. The Kale Salad was honestly one of the best i've had at any restaurant (and i've ordered a lot of kale salads over the years). The Whipped Ricotta tasted incredibly fresh and creamy. My only small critique is that there was much more ricotta than focaccia, so we wished that there was more bread. I ended up dipping the pizza crust into it. The Tagliatelle alla Emiliana tasted really good as well We also tried the seasonal Red Snapper, which was well cooked with nothing to complain about. The Calamari was perfectly seasoned, and the spicy remoulade that came with it was well balanced For dessert, we ordered the Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream which was surprisingly light without being overly heavy, and the perfect way to finish dinner. However, the Lemon Cheesecake, was just okay and didn't stand out as much as the other dessert The only dish that missed the mark for me was the Lasagna which I had ordered. It was beautifully plated and nice to look at, but I found it lacking flavor. I also tend to prefer a more rustic, traditional-style lasagna which is how I make mine at home. Ospi brings a modern twist to classic southern Italian dining. This fine dining establishment was created by a Top Chef contender, originally founded in California. They are known for their vodka sauce and after trying it firsthand I understand why it's so well known. For starters, we ordered garlic confit foccacia served with olive oil, olives, and rosemary almonds. The bread itself was well seasoned and soft and paired well with the garlic butter and olives (both pitted and non pitted olives were included). For main dishes, we ordered various pasta dishes, half of the party (including me) ordered the Spicy Rigatoni served in the vodka sauce and I selected the meatballs add on. Important to note if you are ordering the same thing, the meatballs are $3 each, not total and you typically get about 3 on the dish so it's about $9 for meatballs which I thought was a bit excessive pricing wise. Despite that this dish was well worth it as the sauce is so good and one of the best vodka pasta dishes I've ever tried. It's actually a bit spicy which I've found other vodka sauces fail in this department. I added chili flakes, but it's not required, only if you like an extra kick. The rigatoni is cooked beautifully and the meatballs are tasty along with the sauce and spices. Lastly, we ordered the tiramisu for the table and it was honestly so light and creamy, I was very impressed. Ospi is definitely worth trying at least once. read more

So good I got it delivered the day after visiting! Although i'm sad Meddlesome Moth is gone, I'm excited that Ospi is an excellent replacement. The pasta here is freshly made and it's obvious from the taste. My friend and I ordered the whipped ricotta, and garlic confit focaccia for appetizers. They honestly should come together, the garlic confit was underwhelming alone. For the entrees we ordered the tagliatelle and the chicken Parmesan with rigatoni. I wanted the lasagna but it was sold out. I was pleasantly surprised by the tagliatelle, it was perfect! Pasta melts in your mouth and the dishes have do much flavor. The food was so good that I got the lasagna delivered the next day. Everything was packaged well and was still hot when it got to me. I can't wait to go back/get other dishes delivered. The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. However, It's extremely loud in there, like louder than a normal busy restaurant. What a great evening we had at Ospi last night! We'd heard wonderful things about their handmade pastas, creative appetizers, lively atmosphere, and exceptional service, so we decided it was time to see for ourselves. From the moment we were seated, we knew we were in for a treat when our server welcomed us with a complimentary round of Prosecco. We started with Filthy Memento Mori Martinis and Rebecca's Margherita, along with the Crispy Rhode Island Calamari served with cherry peppers, spicy remoulade, and passata. It was a terrific way to kick off the meal. Next came Caesar salads to share, followed by two of Ospi's signature pastas: the Spicy Rigatoni alla Vodka and the Sweet Corn Agnolotti with sweet corn fonduta, basil oil, corn brodo, and Grana Padano. Both dishes more than lived up to their reputation. Even though we were happily full, we couldn't resist sharing a brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce to finish the evening. They clearly take pride in their pasta (made from scratch daily, up to 3 different types of flour) and I'm sold - I had to try this southern Italian place in the design district. Feels like a neighborhood restaurant in your friends home. Rebeccas margarita - the craziest drink on the menu with the salt air - it threw us for a surprise! The basil and gran gala worked so nicely, came out more as a cool, leafy drink Lusty martini - basically a pornstar martini and I could taste the passion fruit with every sip, which made me happy. Cool as a cucumber - my favorite mocktail - clarified raspberry and cucumber juice. I would get a gallon of I could Whipped ricotta - insanely good bread and beautiful ricotta. I'll get their bread again in a heartbeat Scarpinocc - they say very brown butter but it was swimming in a lot of non-browner butter mixed with browned butter. As someone who browns their butter at home and likes the deep molasses flavor, I was disappointed. The dish is absolutely extraordinary for sure, but I didn't like it swimming in normal butter. The braised beef was A+ but the dough was more firm to the touch than I'd like in a dumpling format Mandilli - the silkiest, smoothest pesto I have ever tasted. Came here on Memorial Day Monday brunch-ish hours and walked in cautiously optimistic. Ospi took over the old Meddlesome Moth space, and the ambiance works well. Nice energy, good outdoor patio setup, and our waitress was genuinely excellent. she was attentive, accommodating, and pleasant throughout the meal. Quick correction for anyone reading: Ospi does have a brunch menu, but only Saturdays and Sundays. Since we came Monday for Memorial Day, that's on us. That said... the food ended up being wildly inconsistent. The cauliflower had a very good Calabrian sauce bringing nice heat and flavor, but the dates felt strange in the dish and threw off the balance. Hold the dates and this is actually pretty solid. The cheese toast was disappointing. Barely toasted bread served as two oversized pieces. Since it arrived cold, the cheese coagulated and the toast became soggy. The gluten-free pasta with spicy rigatoni sauce was serviceable. Not offensive, not memorable. Regular spicy rigatoni, though? Actually pretty good. The Kale & Kanpachi Salad was probably the biggest surprise of the meal fresh, balanced, and one of the few dishes I'd happily order again. Fungi pizza was another bright spot. Good crust, good sauce, and honestly one of the stronger executions we had all meal. The cacio e pepe was unfortunately atrocious. The sauce wasn't emulsified properly and turned grainy and broken. The pasta texture missed too.... It was undercooked without achieving proper al dente and everything clumped together into a knotted mess that was hard to enjoy. Chicken parmesan sandwich also missed hard. Dry chicken, and the bread-to-chicken ratio made absolutely no sense. Two smaller pieces sitting inside oversized bread. At ~$20, it should feel at least slightly elevated beyond something I could grab from Potbelly. Eggplant parmesan had similar bread issues, though the eggplant itself wasn't bad. Overall: fantastic service, nice patio, cool atmosphere, but a kitchen that felt all over the place. A couple strong dishes (salad, spicy rigatoni, fungi pizza) couldn't fully overcome some major misses. I'd come back for patio vibes and carefully selected menu items but not rushing back for a full meal. read more

Saw a TikTok video about Ospi and as an Italian food lover, had to try this place immediately. We ordered drinks and must I say the espresso martin,Amazing!! For the appetizer we order the whipped ricotta, my only complaint is the focaccia to whipped ricotta ratio was a little small. We had to order extra focaccia ( btw this is a $6.00 charge). Connor was sweet to walk us through the menu and recommended hai favorites, which was ironically the rigatoni . I asked Connor if it was better than Carbones which is ironically diagonal from the restaurant, and he said it was. He was telling the truth btw lol. I ordered the rigatoni with meatballs which were so moist and fulfilling. I was so full by the time I finished eating. My boyfriend order the paper plane & he loved his drink and got the Copione pizza. This place was actually kind of busy so try to get a reservation, if possible. I told our server, Cris, how much I love tiramisu before we ate but was a little too full to order it after all the food. I was really excited to try Ospi, but it was a huge disappointment from start to finish. The service was surprisingly poor. Our waiter spent most of the meal trying to upsell us instead of making sure we had a good experience. He strongly pushed the $50 ribs--which felt odd at an Italian restaurant--and also recommended the burrata and prosciutto appetizer. The problem? They forgot the burrata entirely. He also recommended the fried provolone, which ended up being one of the worst things we ordered. It was underwhelming and definitely not worth the hype. The service only got worse as the meal went on. Our empty drinks would be taken away without anyone asking if we wanted refills. Our silverware was cleared after one course and never replaced before the next until we had to ask. As for the food, the pizza was incredibly mediocre and nowhere near worth the price. To top it all off, my stomach was in shambles afterward. With so many great Italian restaurants in Dallas, I can't see myself ever coming back. The vibe was ideal for the group and the location in the Resturant provided to us was just outside the main dining area to make it feel private. The place was just so busy and we got forgotten about. The drinks were great but out of our food, the only thing that made it to our table was a kale salad with salmon so we all just shared that. The rest of our food didn't come despite seeing people around us getting food. Finally after 2hrs we politely gave up and just asked if the food was available if it could be boxed up and if not if it could be removed from the check. They were able to get the boxed up food to our table within 3 min and also removed it from our check.
