This was our 5th visit to Trick Rider. The first couple of visits were memorable. i would have put the steaks at the top of the list in a highly competitive dining market. The last couple of visits have been lacking. Definitely different chefs. If I am going to spend $400+ for dinner for two, I expect more. I ordered a $90 short rib that was half fat. We sent it back, which meant my husband's steak was cold while he waited for my meal to arrive. I would have at least expected the manager to come by to acknowledge the issues and apologize, but that didn't happen. I can go to Bob's and spend half the price for a better meal. The good - The food was mostly very good. The Iberico pork chop was amazingly tender. Really the best pork chop I've ever had. The ribeye was good and cooked perfectly. Broccolini was a snooze. The shrimp appetizer was a hard pass. Ok sized but bland beyond bland. The wedge was ok but I'm not big on sweet flavor and there was a sweetness to the dressing I didn't care for. Service was very good. The BAD - This place is LOUD!!! Crazy LOUD!! And there was hardly anyone there. You could hear the bartenders shaking the martinis. When we mentioned it to our server, she said we should hear it when it's crowded. More bad, gnats. I saw that in a previous review. We planned my bday dinner here n we were so disappointed, pork chops weren't what it used to be, completely different cut of meat, n just not good. First time at Trick Rider and it was definitely a great experience. The Swarovski crystal horse is beautiful above the bar area and clearly the centerpiece of the restaurant. The servers are all dressed in a nice Western shirt, and the theming throughout is consistent and very well done. Even the guest napkins look like bandanas which I was super impressed with. I started with the Caesar Salad which had a little too much dressing in my opinion but was fresh and delicious. I got the petit filet as my entree and it had delicious flavor without being too salty which I greatly appreciated. Our table shared the broccolini and the Sweet Potato which were both amazing. I don't normally like Sweet Potatoes but this was pureed so finely that it was like pudding with the charred marshmallow on top. The Lone Star Poire tasted like spicy pear deliciousness in a glass. This was one of the okayest meals I've ever had. Husband and I invite our parents out for a yearly anniversary shindig and try a new restaurant. Trick Rider this year. Food- Technically well-prepared, upscale, but boring, soulless, and dated. Theme everywhere else is western, but where is the southern/western in the food? We have hamachi crudo and caviar and oysters but zero southern or western flair outside of the sides and desserts. Sweet potato side and squash appetizer are legit. Ambiance- Neat. mom says one of the best ambiance of our yearly routine. Except how loud the restaurant is, it's really nice decor. Service- Pretentious but not consistently so... In a white-cloth restaurant with no white cloths we're really going to attempt to put a napkin on my lap? Really? Waiter told us that it'd be best if "we told him our order all at once" and was rushed or rushing through everything. It was hard to have rapport with the team anyway with how loud the restaurant was. I had to walk over to my parents to help them with the menu to be able to hear me. After dinner we wanted a picture as we do every year and couldn't find a person not otherwise engaged in more important things to do so. I guess I get that we're not the clientele that Trick Rider are looking for because our reception felt aggressive, judgmental and dismissive. Maybe it was a busy night, but we have NEVER had this level of of dismissive service from any decent DFW steakhouse before. read more

It's giving "yes, I sparkle and I'm expensive." This is a 16-foot-long, 9-foot-high Swarovski crystal chandelier designed by Jeffrey Beers International, featuring 4,075 bohemian cut crystal beads and weighing 1,500 pounds. Now onto the food...specifically, the king crab! Life-changing. I'm not saying I fell in love, but I am saying if that crab proposed to me, I'd say yes without hesitation. Forget love languages, mine is clearly butter-drenched shellfish, and Trick Rider understood the assignment. Also, I ordered asparagus because I needed to pretend I'm a responsible adult who eats green things, and wow, I did not share. Not one spear. Don't look at me like that; it was too good and frankly, I have no regrets. Pro tip? Ask for two orders of bread. Just do it. Trust me. You'll thank me later when you're hoarding it like it's your last meal on Earth. It's warm, it's fluffy, it's probably laced with magic. And, you have a plate of butter from your king crab. My bestie and I wanted to try an afternoon tea and this place was very local to us both so we decided to give it a try. I will say it was a bumpy start to actually getting to this place but it all worked out. We had originally booked our Saturday before the snow storm. They obviously canceled our original reservation due to weather. However when I went to rebook for the following Saturday there was some sort of complication with the Open Table app to where it would let me do everything except take my payment for the tea. After about 6 attempts I called the place. I could never get someone from the restaurant to answer for 3 days; even after leaving two voicemails. Then I called one last time and finally someone at the front desk transferred me to the hotel concierge and she was wonderful. She actually helped me and emailed the restaurant; then actually called me back the following day to see if anyone had followed up. (Which a person did not; just an automated text to book; resulting in the same issue with the payment part) So she told me she would put our reservation in and I'd just pay when we were there. She was an angel and I truly appreciated all her help. I'm not sure if it was a computer glitch; because I used that same card to pay in the restaurant. So after all that I still went in with an open mind for tea. The hostess was a young girl with no emotion. She wasn't super welcoming upon arrival. For my first time there; there was no "hi how are you today" or what can I do for you" she just didn't seem like she wanted to be there. They need a more friendly or bubbly person at that desk. The place is very cowgirl rustic glam. Surprised there were only 2 tables for tea. They had live music; which was nice but a little loud. Our server was friendly, he even saw in my profile about my birthday; so he brought out a birthday sweet; it was so thoughtful. He explained the menu. Service was overall good. We could choose our tea but the tower was preset. Presentation was beautiful; the tea I chose was delicious. Out of the 4 sandwiches the cream cheese one was my least favorite. The ham and cheese bite and cheddar biscuit bites were yummy. All the sweets were tasty. I wish there was more savory over sweet items; but that's just me. The salmon sandwich was probably my favorite. Definitely didn't leave full; but it's a tea. And honestly it wasn't like other High Tea places. There wasn't a true experience of it all. I am a guy who does all out restaurant experiences in New Orleans, Dallas to Vegas. Was I very disappointed, absolutely very disappointed! Was it for the food? Partly, service no but restaurant absolutely! Food was 4/5, service was 4.5/5 the restaurant was 2/5! Why? Acoustics are negative -1! It's a bar! If you want a 5 star restaurant in a bar this for you, it's LOUD and you can't even talk to each other it's crazy! Also dress code? Nope! Table next to us shorts and baseball caps all drunk! Service was 9/10 the food was 8/10 and the environment was 3/10'! I cannot believe the acoustics in this place were approved! It's so bad I will not be back, if you want a 5 star restaurant that you can't talk to anyone and like drunk guys in shorts and ball caps in the table next to you this is your place! We had such an incredible first time experience at Trick Rider for my sister birthday. The interior is so beautiful with a crystal balls sculpture at the center bar. Our waiter KARA is absolutely amazing. She was very attentive, knowledgeable about the wine and the food on the menu. So kind , friendly and helpful. I want to first start by saying that the staff here are all very nice. We liked the selection of food. However, there are some very notable things that need to be improved on, in our opinion. Their wine list struggles. The presentation of the wine list itself and the lack of variety beyond a Napa cab were both lackluster. The wine is a huge part of experience in a steakhouse and if I'm going to a steakhouse like this, I want the pomp and circumstance that a proper sommelier will provide. While people were accommodating in their service, it is not to the level that this type of establishment should be. Servers walked by our table without picking up finished dishes and when they brought us out a new course, they didn't change out the dishes or silverware, and we had to ask the servers dropping off the food to take away the dirty dishes. This is a big deal. I have no problems paying a premium for food, but the service has to match the price point. The place is very loud. At this point I don't know if that can be changed. I absolutely loved the flavor of the broiled oysters, but they came out so hot, that after waiting to be able to eat them, the sauce had literally hardened and had to scrape the oysters from the shell. Those maybe need to be taken out sooner to be able to enjoy them with its juices. The calamari and sauce were very good. I loved the flavor of the lamb and the sauce with labneh was fantastic. I was just surprised to get only four small pieces of lamb. The carrot cake was to die for. Many people came to our table throughout the meal to ask how the experience was. I know it's not meant to be intrusive, and they are all very nice, but it would be awkward to not say anything but, "it's great". I hope they take the constructive criticism and work on the overall dining experience. read more

My wife and I came here to celebrate our anniversary. Everything about our experience with Trick Rider was amazing except for one item. The moment we sat down we were quickly offered our drink of choice. From there we moved onto an appetizer which we shared a Caesar salad and calamari. Both of which were top tier. She had the 8 oz filet while I had the 10 oz. Both cooked to absolute perfection. Mac and cheese, asparagus and mashed potatoes complemented our steak for a wonderful meal. Afterwards we chose the massive decadent carrot cake for dessert. The experience was fantastic, and I look forward to coming here again. I take off one star because the restaurant is in a massive atrium with a bar in the middle and regular patron seating around the bar. This room is extremely loud. We were shouting with our waiter, and spent the evening in conversation with our voiced raised quite a bit just so we could hear each other. I hope that Trick Rider would consider some acoustic paneling that could blend in with the walls and ceiling to help with this problem. Panels would absorb the sound rather than bounce off the walls with constant echo and reverberation through the atrium. I think this would allow for better conversation between patrons, and staff. Only stopped in for drinks and appetizers but a small preview has me excited to go back and check out more! A friend was in town visiting and staying at the Omni so I stopped by to have a couple of drinks. It was late and didn't expect much. I live close by and honestly didn't have high expectations because restaurants around here are hit and miss but I was pleasantly surprised that a place this nice is so close by up here in the suburbs. It didn't just stop at the ambiance. The customer service might've been the best part. Although it was late and close to closing time, the staff was bright, energetic and extremely helpful. The manager Jimmy also came over, introduced himself, chatted sports a bit, and gave us an incredibly warm welcome. The food was absolutely incredible as well. We only had appetizers but everything was solid - the grilled oysters, which are probably some of the best I've ever had. No idea what sauce they put on that but it was amazing, 10/10. Would've been even better with some bread on the side. We also had the tuna tartare which was nice and fresh and the burrata, which isn't something I'd usually go for but was really good. Also had the grilled artichokes. I wasn't a fan but that doesn't mean they weren't good. Just not a big artichoke person. The star of the show was the wedge salad. I eat a lot of wedge salads and they're a dime a dozen but everything about this one was special. Thick chunks of bacon that are perfectly salty, the right balance of bleu cheese, fresh tomatoes and crisp lettuce, and the wildcard was the candied walnuts they put on it. It works so good. 20/10 seriously The drinks were good as well. I only tried one from their cocktail menu- a mixture of uncle nearest whiskey, grand marnier, and vanilla. Not a big whiskey drinker but it's been one of the best drinks I've had. Really well balanced I could see some people balking at the prices. It does feel a bit expensive just looking at some of the steak prices but also, look around at everything else haha so I get it. Seems like the experience is at least worth the price as I've spent the same amount elsewhere for subpar service and food. The hostesses (young teens) are cold welcomers and not seasoned and look like they got their jobs there by connection. The dining floor is nice. The server was fine but not experienced enough to justify the prices. My only dislike was the loud atmosphere...we had a beautiful steakhouse where we lived before and it had dividers to break up the noise. Between the noise of the bar and just the general chatter of a restaurant, it was hard to visit with our guests who joined us. With all of the anticipation of this restaurant, I had very high expectations for this steak house. This is the closest fine dining restaurant in my community. Literally 4 minutes from my garage to their front door. My husband and I dined there Saturday night. It was an early dinner, so it was pretty quiet when we first arrived. The decor is very elevated Texas chic with a beautiful crystal horse floating over the center bar for an added splash of glamour. The server was knowledgeable and attentive, but could be have used a bit more finesse. Simple menu showcasing a variety of premium steaks as the star of the show. I do wish I there would have been some additional vegetable side options to accompany. We enjoyed a sampling of cocktails from the menu. All complex in their flavor profile and presented with sophistication. The food was good. Solid,, but not memorable. Overall I gave the dining experience a 3 out of 5 stars. I would definitely go back to the have a drink at the bar, but with the stiff steak house competition in Dallas, I think that the food should better reflect the pricing. Food was excellent. I ordered a 10oz filet that cooked to a perfect medium rare with excellent charring and seasoning. I also tried whipped potatoes, asparagus and French onion soup, and all of them were quite tasty. The space is just 100% perfect modern steakhouse. Your eyes will need to adjust to the lighting it's that dark inside, and the moodiness is balanced in a fun way with a giant horse shaped chandelier.
