The service was beyond slow, and it wasn't busy. More standing around than checking in with the customer. Hanging at the bar having a good time while customers need things. Food was COLD asked for things multiple times Complained. No apologies no discount. Nothing but a 200.00 bill. Absolutely awful. read more

I used to love this place but tonight was absolutely terrible. They were busy so I started with some grace. It took a while to be acknowledged and menus brought to our table and even longer to get water and our first drinks. After a long wait we finally got to order and then the really long wait came. After time had passed and several deliveries of food from the cart had taken place we observed the "runner" being up a new cart. He delivered to a few different tables then after speaking with one of the servers proceeded to walk water cups from a table to fill them up individually. At the same time I observed food still left on the bottom shelf of the cart. After the runner completed the water refill service to a table he went back to the cart and brought one of two orders to our table. Needless to say it was cold by then. We waited longer for the other food to arrive then I finally got up and found our server. She told me the other order should be coming soon. I asked why the first part of our order was delayed while water was being refilled and was to "well the runner is young and nervous". I explained to the server that I wasn't upset with him (the runner) but the servers because it seems like they should help prioritize the food service for him. We continued to wait and I had completed my cold meal by the time the other order was delivered (which tells me that the order likely wasn't placed the first time). While all of this was taking place the other person at my table accidentally spilled her water on the table (large glass). It did make a mess on the table. I looked for help and saw everyone at the bar so I walked up there and said I needed help as we had a mess at our table. I got a couple of blank looks so grabbed a towel that was sitting at the bar and took it back with me to clean up. Nobody offered to help or return with me. You'd think we would have wondered what happened. A manager came to our table later to speak with me. She ended up "comping" the meal and said "I don't know what to say except this isn't what we normally do". I'd agree that past experiences have been good here but the poor service and attitude of not helping at all made this evening one that was horrible. It took about 90 minutes of my life I will never get back. I appreciate the manager coming to speak and comping the meal and applaud the young man delivering the food (with a little help he will be good) but everyone else working made this experience one to remember in a very bad way. read more

Just no. This place is two floors, has indoor seating on the first floor and outdoor door seating on both floors. You can take the elevators or stairs to go up. There's also a stairwell outside to get to the outdoor patio. Both floors have bars. Looking at the beer pretzels is pretty disappointing. Service was HORRIBLE. I sat outside, but I might have gotten better service if I sat inside as they seemed more attentive. Dog friendly if they are sitting outside. read more

Stopped by today for the Easter brunch.buffet. Was pretty disappointed about the lack of consistency with keeping food trays stocked. Omelette bar was slower than normal. Tried this place out for the first time tonight and absolutely loved it! The ambiance, the food, and the SERVICE was so great! Sarah was our server and she's truly just such a sweet person! I'd give this place 5 stars for her alone! We tried the pretzel bites, the mozzarella sticks, the bbq chopped chicken salad, shrimp tacos, and the mason jar brownie for dessert! Everything was delicious and we would order again! The pomegranate amber ale and the regular amber ale were also both pretty great! We can't wait to come back soon! read more

Beautiful brewery with excellent food and service. To drink we had a watermelon sour and a peach sour and they both were amazing! To eat we split a cheesesteak with fries and an order of buffalo wings. My son ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Everything was amazing! The buttery bun on the cheesesteak was perfection and the meat and cheese levels were right on par. Wings were crispy and saucy exactly how I love them. And my little 6 year old tore up his burger like he hadn't ate all day. Connor was our server and he was so kind and attentive. We are looking forward to coming back and trying more of the offerings of this beautiful brewery read more

Came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner and liked the country ambiance feel. The menu is limited but they did have a good selection of beers. Unfortunately the beer only comes in one size depending on which beer you choose. If you get a strawberry summer ale, it comes in a 16oz but if you get Aloha IPA, it comes in a 13oz. We got the spinach artichoke dip to start which comes with chips and pita chips. It was very cheesy and delicious. The chips and the pita were very crispy and held the dip well. Our waitress wasn't very attentive and we had to constantly look for her to wave her down for her attention in the beginning. But once we ordered food, she became more attentive and made sure we were taken care of. We ordered the Nashville hot crispy chicken sandwich and the smash burger for dinner. I was reading one of the reviews about there not being enough slaw on the burger and I'm really happy I read that because I asked for extra slaw. When I received my meal I was surprised there wasn't extra slaw on there but then the person who gave us the meals apologized and brought it out right away. The slaw really compliments the heat and added flavor to the sandwich. My husband ordered the smash burger and thought that the burger was a little disappointing. We saw that someone had ordered a kids smash burger and it looked larger than his adult smash burger. The burger wasn't evenly seasoned and some bites were salty. There were more buns to meat ratio as well. Overall, I would recommend this place during a weekday evening for some bar food and drinks. I'm not sure how they are on the weekend, but I'm sure it would be busy. They do have patio seating as well with fans but I am not used to the Texas heat, so I would suggest eating on the first floor if you can't handle the heat. Serving sizes are decent and some food experiences may be different from ours, so we may try this place again to see if their smash burgers improve or try something else on the menu. Would also suggest to add more slaw to the chicken sandwich because the amount they put on there to begin with, does not complement the sandwich well enough. read more

Great atmosphere! We sat at the bar and had two beer flight. The beers were really good. One of my favorites was the Maple beer. The flavor was a hint of maple and not sweet at all. The lite hawk beer went down smoothly and was one of my favorites. The jalapeño poppers were really good. The linguine lacked flavor. It wasn't our favorite. Nice new place in Prosper. I came for the beer, since I'm a beer need and have to try all the breweries in the area, but would come back foe the food. They have a pretty good selection of elevated Gastropub food. The wedge salad my wife had was huge and had a nice combination of flavors and textures with bacon and blue cheese crumbles, crispy onion strings, mini tomatoes, and ranch dressing. I had the Crispy chicken sliders, which comes with three small Hawaiian buns with slaw and a buffalo chicken nugget and three slices of pickles on the side. It had a nice mix of tang, spice, and some sweetness from the buns. The beer was good, I tried mostly the stouts and one brown ale, but they also have quite a few other offerings, from IPA to wheat ales and saisons. If you're in the area make sure to give them a try. read more

We returned to Black Hawk Brewery with fond memories of a quiet, late-night visit an empty first floor, decent beer, and the thrill of discovery. Naturally, we thought it might be the perfect low-key date night spot for round two. It was not. We were greeted warmly and directed upstairs, where ambiance meets altitude... and awkward seating. Nearly every table came with bar stools the kind that make you question your posture and life choices. Not ideal for lingering long or if you are in a dress. We started with a lukewarm beer flight, four solid pours for $13. Respectable. But my $15 "Spicy Margarita" was less cocktail, more melted ice cube. A small whisper of heat, a hint lime, and a whole lot of water. Next up, the jalapeño poppers. Described on the menu as "Sharp Cheddar, Cream Cheese, Lime Cilantro Sauce," they arrived looking like cheese-stuffed spring rolls straight from the freezer aisle. Cold, plasticky, and tragically devoid of cream cheese. Still, we soldiered on. Then came my shrimp tacos, emphasis on shrimp, singular. Three tiny shrimp per taco, half of which were still... let's say "anatomically intact." The tortillas were cold, the salsa (no grilled pineapple) lukewarm, and the overall effect: just bad. I took one bite and quietly waved the white flag. My husband fared no better. His Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich arrived with all the fire of a snowman in January. One bite, and he joined the surrender. His cold fries were decent, but not decent enough. Even my old fashioned showed signs of struggle thin, watery, and deeply uninspired. The one positive? Our server. She was lovely and clearly doing the job of three people with the energy of one. The water? Delightfully hydrating. But alas, hydration alone cannot save a dinner. In total, we paid $60, with the entrees graciously comped, but even that felt steep for what amounted to few drinks, an appetizer, and a shared existential crisis. In conclusion: skip this place. First of all this is NOT a BREWERY. Sure they brew a few beers there (I liked 1 of the beers in my flight) , but they serve bottles of Coors and Miller, along with wine and cocktails. This is pretty much a Shakertins so go with that in mind. I was there on a slow weeknight so I can't say much about the service. Though walking up the stairs after an empty downstairs, a manager told us to be patient/expect a wait, they "just got slammed". I figured I found Prosper's hot spot for Monday Night Football, only to find 2 pairs at the bar and less than half the seating filled. I don't want to speculate so I'm going to go back on a weekend night and see this operation in full swing. read more

We were anxious to check this place out but we left it extremely disappointed We ate upstairs and the ambiance was decent but the area itself was very loud and it was only half full. The menu selection is decent but pricy - for example they charge $15 for 6 bone in wings (that some reason they choose to make them breaded. ). We did not order the wings There were no good lagers, pilsners, or kolsch so we opted for tea and water. There was little to no ice in any of our glasses. Tea was over $3.25 a glass which seemed steep. My wife and here sister in law had the BBQ chicken salad and I and her brother opted for the Texan burger (less the BBQ sauce and garlic aoil on mine) with fries. When our food arrived the salad looked like the lettuce had been cut and stored for a while. It tasted fine but it was not visually appealing I asked for mustard on the side for my burger but it did not come out with the food. I asked the lady who delivered the food for mustard, she didn't come back. I walked over to the bar area and asked our waiter for mustard and another glass of water. He brought the mustard finally, the rest of our party was 1/2 way through their meals by the time it arrived The seasoning of my food was inconsisten. The fries were very salty while the burger was quite bland. My brother in law had his with the aioli and BBQ sauce and said his was bland as well I ate about half the burger and fries and left the rest - it wasn't worth finishing So in summary; high prices, poor beer selection, poor service, and mediocre food. One star (only because no stars wasn't an option). Would not recommend and won't go back again read more

We were here for our after party from an awards dinner and I have to say the entire staff did not buckle under the pressure of a big group arriving at the same time. I went here for a singles event that ended up not happening. I decided to stay and have a drink at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and attentive. After looking over the menu, I started getting a little hungry. The bartender recommended their pizza saying they make the dough fresh. I wasn't feeling that hungry so I went with the tacos. These things were amazing. The spicy slaw and the pineapples played well with the shrimp. The bar itself is very large, with a big upstairs bar. My wife and I love checking out new breweries so we figured we would check this one out. We tasted multiple different beers and they were all just ok at best. I ordered the stout and it was see through which was weird to me, it looked more like an Amber or Red Ale. The atmosphere is definitely solid for football Sunday as there are a lot of TVs. They have high chairs for those with toddlers. Food was also ok. Out waitress was very nice. This place isn't bad at all, it's just not anything special. There are so many great breweries in DFW (Tupps, Union Bear, 3 Nations, Community, Manhattan Beer Project, Celestial, etc) that I would find it hard to chose Black Hawk over them, but since they are new maybe they will find their niche in due time! read more

First of all this is a welcome addition to downtown Prosper and the future prospects for this place will be amazing. Visited on a Saturday for lunch and ate upstairs because the lower level had a 20min wait. We wanted to eat up on the balcony anyway. Service: 3.5/5 - lots of people working and lots of people standing around in groups talking to each vs attending customs. Wait to order and to get follow-up was lackluster especially with so many people on staff. Food: 3./5 what we had was mid at best. Rueben was average, nothing spectacular. Had higher expectations because it was a "Chef Recommend item". Smash burger was also about 3/5, just not anything you would remember. However the fries are really good! Atmosphere is 5/5. First time visiting and will definitely put it on my rotation list! The bar is clean and huge. We sat upstairs on the patio. It was exceptional! Our waitress Gin, was amazing. The food was delicious. We had the Brussel sprouts, coconut shrimp and small Diavolo pizza. Fed 2 plus had take home!! All of the staff from hostess to bartenders and waitresses were very attentive. I've been frequenting Blackhawk ever since they opened, and I've got to say--they continue to elevate not just the food, but the overall atmosphere as well. The space has changed quite a bit since day one (the décor has definitely improved), and the addition of the rooftop misters would be awesome... if they were actually low enough to make a difference. They're so high up they mostly mist the ceiling--so not much heat relief. That said, I still love sitting upstairs on their amazing rooftop patio--it has a fantastic view of downtown Prosper and is such a chill vibe. They also have a GREAT happy hour (every day except Saturday, I believe), and their pizzas? Hands down, the MOST delicious I've ever had. So MASSIVE props to the chef--everything I've eaten here (as you can see from my many pics lol) has been mouthwatering. Well... except for the mozzarella sticks & jalapeño poppers. Those could use some love. Maybe bacon-wrap those bad boys ? I'd describe the menu as elevated bar food with a touch of sophistication, especially with how nicely everything is plated. Now for one small downside--when they first opened, the brewer (I think his name was Chris?) made some of the best stouts and light beers I've had in a long time. Almost on the level of like a Martin House or 3 Nations. When I noticed the beer lineup had shifted, I found out he was no longer there. The newer brews haven't quite hit the same notes for me, but hey--we'll see what the current brewer brings for the fall. Oh! They have a great Margarita as well that I made Spicy! As far as service goes, it's tough reading all the negative reviews because I've actually had a lot of great experiences here. Sure, there were a couple of waitresses who weren't exactly the friendliest--but I haven't seen them around lately, so maybe that's been addressed. Most recently, I had a guy named Ashton, and he was just so friggin' nice--such a positive, happy energy! Before him, there was Brooke, who was also amazing--super attentive and genuinely kind. The upstairs bartenders deserve a shoutout too--they're typically always great about checking on drinks, even if you're not seated at the bar. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is because of the current beers. With it being a brewery and all I just personally felt the previous brewer had more creativity in the lineup. But hey--that's just my lame little opinion and I think they are still working on new ones! Now, I haven't been in the evenings yet, so I can't speak to the nighttime vibe, but one of these days I'm planning to catch a live show and will definitely report back Overall - Blackhawk is definitely one of my favorite places that I always recommend to my friends and coworkers! read more

A friend and I went to try this place, since I enjoy beer tasting. We were fairly disappointed. We had beer flights and these beers were not good at all. Out of eight tastes the only one I enjoyed was a cinnamon stout (I don't recall the name), all the others were fairly bland and a lot of them had an air aftertaste. I love stouts but I wouldn't come back for their beers. When canned beer is better than your brews, it's time to rethink your recipes. For food I had a smash burger and my friend had a wedge salad, we both thought the food was good, so compliments to the chef! This was the high-point of our visit. The service was severely lacking, not from the hostesses or waitresses, but from the bar staff. We sat at the main bar and and it took about 10-15 minutes to even get acknowledged, there were only six other people at the bar so it's not like the bar was getting slammed. One worker was training, another was acting as if we he was put-out because we were at the bar and we had to get service. Other people who came after us had been served before us, it did stand out to me especially since we were the only non-whites at the bar. I'm not going to claim this was intentional, but I did notice. I highly doubt we will be going back. There are much better bars and breweries we can spend our money at and we won't get treated like we are a burden to the workers. I don't live right next to downtown Prosper, so for me it's definitely not worth driving any amount of distance for this Brewery. read more

I'm originally from the PNW so I'm not stranger to a brewery. I'm used to a brewery having excellent food and drinks. And that's what I expected at black hawk. We had dinner here for the first time and we were shocked at how awful the quality of all of our food was. The jalapeño poppers weren't cooked all the way through, the onion rings were over cooked. The kid's Mac n cheese was clearly just boxed Kraft and it was old. My two year old wouldn't touch it and that's saying a lot. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the chicken was so small it didn't even fill the bun. So disappointed in the food here and I honestly don't know how this can be resolved. When we did get greeted, the server asked if we've been helped and when we said no she walked away and didn't come back for another 5 to 7 minutes. We got our drink order in, which took a very long time to receive as well- which is not the servers fault but the bar didn't appear that busy. The food came out shortly after our drinks. I would give the food a solid three and the in house beers a 4... We had a mix of pizza, sandwiches, and appetizers. The fries were really good!
