Highlights include: * $10 double cheeseburger with a pickle * $3 East Coast oysters * Half-price drinks, including martinis and wine by the glass Overall, it is an excellent value for a really nice place. Atmosphere and Service The atmosphere and service are impeccable. After more than one visit, the bartenders may recognize you--or at least remember your beverage choices. The Bar Show The best part is the show. The people-watching at the bar is unlike anything else. Happy hour starts at 3:00, but the bar seats are usually full by 2:45. Latecomers often walk in, circle the bar, and leave when they realize there are no seats available. Many guests settle in for the full three hours, which creates its own entertainment. Then come the "watchers," each with a strategy for claiming a seat: * Look for someone nearing the end of a drink. * Watch for guests paying their bill. * Hover nearby, hoping a seat opens up. * Ask someone for a heads-up when they are about to leave. It is surprisingly entertaining, and the occasional bit of staff drama only makes it even better. Bottom Line Either way, it is a great deal for dinner, drinks, and a show, all with amazing service. I was so excited about going to Hudson House to celebrate my birthday but was overall disappointed with the food. Service was ok, not outstanding. The appetizers were good. We ordered the crispy rice tuna and the dinamite shrimp. Both were delicious but small, specially the dinamite shrimp served in a BIG bed of greens. The crispy rice tuna was good. The presentation was nice. My daughter ordered the stone fruit martini and she loved it. I ordered a glass or Sauvignon blanc and it was also good. The ambiance was nice and upscale. The food was disappointing for the price. I ordered the salmon, and the presentation was poor. It looked like something I would have cooked at home. Just a piece of salmon and a side of broccoli; nothing fancy or original about this dish. I'm sharing a picture of a salmon dish we had a a restaurant in Estes Park, Colorado for the same price. Maybe they will learn a decent presentation for a $30 dollar dish. I'm sure the food cost in CO is not higher than DFW. Do better. The steak frites was the most disappointing dish of all; $50 dollars for a small piece of steak, side of spinach and small side of fries. The chicken parm was just ok. The pickle in the hamburger overtook the flavor. Order with no pickles if you're not a fan. The side of fries for the hamburger, which have to be ordered separately, were cold and just ok; nothing special. Overall, we were NOT impressed. Service was a little slow and portions a little small, but neither was bad. Note their happy hour only applies to the bar top and patio. So if you're their for dinner say at 5:30 for some reason, and you're about to hand over $100 to the restaurant for food, know the guy sitting at the bar who came in for just 1 drink is paying half for his martini as you are paying for yours. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical coming here at first... But our seasoned waiter, Charles, immediately threw away any hesitancy I had. He provided exceptional service and was not difficult to communicate with at all and it was very easy to add things on later, when I decided to order a side with my food. Food was very filling. First time dining at HH and definitely looking forward to our next visit. We were offered outdoor seating, however I asked if there was anything indoors and was quickly shut down due to not having reservations. I didn't realize reservations were needed, however the host was extremely rude when I asked if there was anything inside. Shaking their head no as they looked down bothered by me asking. We accepted outdoor seating, i asked our waitress about reservations and she did suggest making one especially on a Fri/Sat and Sun. We enjoyed a burger, fries, and the French chicken. My family has come to this restaurant multiple times and we really enjoy it! The service is great and I really appreciate the nice gentleman serving us. It is a very cute restaurant and the ambiance is very calm. Chicken parm: This dish was alright. There is a lot of cheese on the dish which can be overpowering. The marinara sauce is very light which I enjoy. They were out of pasta so I did not get the full experience with this dish. Moreover, I still had to pay full price even though half my dish was missing. Burger: The burger is great! It is extremely juicy and I loved the thousand island dressing on it. It is a great portion and tons of flavor. I loved getting truffle fries on the side with this burger! It came with a huge seasoned pickle on the side which was too sour for me. This is a new location in Frisco! The area is clean and proper, I enjoyed the "comfort classiness" of the establishment. The staff were friendly and paid attention to us. Now for the food and drink - Loving the foam on the le.on drop. It was too sour for me but I really enjoyed and drank it all Maybe I'm missing out on salads but that salad was the bomb, the popcorn chicken and bacon and tomato and cheese and avocado - literally texture heaven. I didn't stay long, but I love Hudson House. This was my first time at this location. I've been to the Addison one before. There was ample parking, and I was seated quickly around 5:30. My redfish with veggies came out fast, and I was in and out by 6pm, which I appreciated. The decor is super cute, and while I didn't interact much with the service, the staff was friendly. A small chain done right! I absolutely love Hudson House. This was my first time to the Frisco location, and it was fantastic. Came for a celebratory Friday lunch for 2. The place was lively as could be for happy hour. Started with a glass bottle Diet Coke (a top tier DC) and a half dozen of east coast oysters. I personally LOVE that they only to east coast, because they are just so good. I had a lobster roll and it was perfect. Generous amount of meat lightly tossed with mayo, just the way I like it! We went here for food since we don't really drink. It was the whole fam this time. The place is supposed to be bar/grill theme, it didnt feel that way, it's kinda tacky honestly but I'm not knocking it for that. We had reservations and I'm glad because it was busy. We were seated promptly and our server was quick to get us our water/drinks. Generally the service was fine, nothing spectacular. The food here is really a strong point. My boyfriend was told the Bellini was strong, and it certainly was! From what I gathered, the oysters rotate but they have a few different ones to choose from. On the day that we were there, we had Hammerhead oysters. The second time we came, it was my birthday. We didn't get Rhett this time, but the server was equally as friendly and good. I'm not a huge fan of cold lobster rolls but this was decent. Heavy mayo so if you don't enough that I wouldn't get it. The bread was nice and butter like Texas toast! The shrimp was great and so was the bed of salad it sat on. It's a good portion size too so I would really recommend. Lastly, everything you heard about the peach bellini is true! I was so excited when a Hudson House opened closer to my house so I don't have to make the trek to Addison. My husband and I stopped by on a weekday around 4:30 pm for happy hour before dinner elsewhere, and luckily, we were able to snag a seat on the patio. All the seating at the bar was already taken at this point. We ordered the dynamite shrimp, some oysters, the cheeseburger, and some drinks. I usually start with the bleu & gold martini (or two). My husband tried the stone fruit martini, but they put a super sour sugar rim on his, which made it EXTREMELY hard to drink. I've ordered this at the Addison location before and never had this rim, so I'm not sure if it is typical at the Frisco location or if it was just when we went. The food was all great- the dynamite shrimp was good, but nothing spectacular. Some of the batter ended up being soggy and a few shrimp pieces were rather small. Ordered a slice if keylime pie from doordash... That pie was just okay. The crust was thin towards the middle, but as you got to the top it was thick and not a lot of filling. Also had a weird taste like it was sitting next to something savory. The whipped cream was just okay. I get it not being sweet is to compliment the already sweet pie, but it was just not that great either. If you're looking for a great happy hour, theirs is it - 1/2 off martinis (my faves - espresso, lemon drop & French 75) and Bellinis (the peach Bellini is perfection), $10 cheeseburger (double cheeseburger, one of the best I've had honestly), $3 East Coast oysters. I recently had the opportunity to visit Hudson House's new Frisco location after dining at their Addison location last year. We went to dinner on a Thursday night and it took about 2 weeks to get a reservation that was around dinner time on a prime night. The restaurant parking was absolutely packed and the restaurant itself was also very crowded and loud when we entered. We had a reservation scheduled but the hostess told us they were still clearing tables and to wait a little while. We only had to wait about 10 minutes and were seated at the front of the restaurant in a booth. To begin, we wanted to order oysters and chose 2 of each kind offered. Additionally, we asked for more information about them, and a drink to pair, but our waitress was not able to really give us recommendations. The oysters were as expected, with a couple of them being better than others. We particularly enjoyed the Great White. For our wine with the oysters, we had a glass of the La Chablisienne Chablis Le Finage, which was lovely Chardonnay from France. For our entrees, we ordered the Steak Frites, served with truffle parmesan french fries, and topped with herb compound butter & fresh herbs. The steak was good, cooked to medium rare as desired, however, the portion was very small. We replaced the parmesan french fries with truffle fries and they were excellent! They were skinny, shoestring fries with plenty of truffle oil included. The other entree ordered was the Lobster Roll, which was fresh Atlantic lobster, New England style, served on brioche, with skinny fries. We also substituted these fries with the truffle fries and were pleased with our decision. The lobster roll was absolutely fantastic and one of my favorite parts of the night. It was rich, the brioche bun was baked perfectly and they definitely did not skimp on the lobster! For a shared side, we ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese. This was another hit for the night. It was served with plenty of lobster and was rich, creamy and filling. Lastly, for dessert, we ordered the Key Lime Pie. This pie was another amazing part of the night. In comparison to other restaurant's key lime pies, this one was the best. It was rich, topped with caramel and graham cracker crumbs. It was also just the right amount of lime, we absolutely loved it! Overall, it was a pretty good experience, but they still have some kinks to work out. There were pretty long, unnecessary wait times and the wait staff seemed a little overwhelmed and flustered at times. The portion sizes seemed a little small for some of the dishes as well, like the Steak Frites, especially for the price point. However, the lobster dishes and key lime pie were excellent. Ultimately, I hope this place continues to grow and improve, I would like to come back once they get their footing a little more. I definitely want to revisit the Addison location and compare. They made a huge investment in the property, you would never know it's an old Twin Peaks! Service was great as expected. The Mac and cheese was good, the lobster roll was fantastic. We also loved the fries. They have a rotating East Coast oyster selection of 4 varieties. However they did not cut the oyster from the shell! I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an uncomfortable experience I had at Hudson House on Preston Road in Frisco. I came in as a party of one and initially attempted to sit at the bar, but the bar was full. I spoke with the gentleman at the host stand about seating, and he advised me that I could sit at one of the bar-area tables, but if I did, I would need to be finished and leave within approximately an hour and a half. What made this interaction particularly uncomfortable was that I observed other guests coming in and being seated without hearing the same type of restriction or warning placed on their dining time. I completely understand that restaurants have reservation schedules, table-turn expectations, and busy periods. However, the way this was communicated specifically to me made me feel as though I was not equally welcomed or that serving me was somehow an inconvenience. As a woman dining alone, being singled out with a time limit while watching other guests receive what appeared to be different treatment was embarrassing and upsetting. I do not want to unfairly label anyone or automatically characterize the interaction as racial discrimination. However, I am an African American woman, and the disparity in how I appeared to be treated left me questioning whether race played a role. No customer should leave a restaurant wondering whether their race, appearance, or the fact that they are dining alone affected the level of hospitality they received. Hudson House has a reputation for providing a certain level of service and hospitality, which is why this experience was particularly disappointing. I would appreciate management reviewing what occurred, including the seating practices being used at the host stand at the time of my visit, and providing an explanation as to why I was specifically advised that I would have to leave within an hour and a half. I am not asking for preferential treatment. I am simply asking for the same welcoming, respectful, and consistent treatment that should be extended to every guest who walks through the door. I would appreciate a response from management regarding this experience. read more
