Went to Haywire to celebrate work anniversary (not the first time) only to find out that they cross contaminate their seafood with regular foods. I have a severe shellfish allergy and the waitress was dismissive and seemed to be in a hurry. I wasn't offered another way for food to be prepared just don't order any fried foods. The appetizer list is almost all fried food. I have been to a lot of high end restaurants that offer to fix my order separately to accommodate my allergy. It was very disappointing that this was not even an option. Guess this will not be my top choice again. read more

I finally made it to Haywire in Plano and wow... what an incredible night. The second you step inside, the stunning ambiance and effortless Texas-chic vibe hit you. Warm wood tones, beautiful lighting, and that perfect upscale-yet-cozy feel make the whole place feel special. The location is ideal too -- easy to get to and surrounded by that lively Shops at Legacy energy without any of the chaos. But the food? Next level. The elk tacos were straight-up fantastic -- perfectly seasoned, tender elk, fresh toppings, and just the right amount of heat. I could have eaten a second order without hesitation. Then came the chicken fried steak, and it did not disappoint. Crispy, golden crust, juicy and flavorful meat, and that classic creamy gravy that tastes like it was made with love. Every bite was pure comfort food elevated. Everything about the experience felt thoughtful and elevated, yet still warm and welcoming. Pretzel bites were a surprise with meat inside (we didn't pay attention to the menu, we saw pretzels and said yes). Each bite stayed true to pretzel flavor. Cheese was fantastic, we scooped it all up! I was feeling bloated so I wanted a salad and it was a darn great salad, I would also get this again. The frozen margarita was a spectacle for our eyes, having an alcoholic slush was fantastic and vibrant with such lovely colors and the smell of orange zest on it took us home. I wish I had pictures of the vibes - you have so many options for seating. Indoor where is nice and dark, patio where it's breezy outside, or even the rooftop area where there are tents and even more light/open seating! One day I'll reserve the tent for seating. Had brunch at Haywire in Frisco this weekend, and honestly... it just felt good. From the second we walked in, the place has this warm, easy energy--nothing stuffy, nothing forced. It's got that Texas feel to it, but cleaned up a bit. Comfortable, but still a little polished. The food was really solid across the board. You know how brunch can sometimes just be... fine? This wasn't that. Everything tasted like someone actually cared about it. Good seasoning, cooked right, and just enough creativity without overdoing it. It still felt like brunch, just done properly. Drinks were great too. Not over-the-top, just well-made and easy to enjoy. Definitely the kind of place where one turns into two without much convincing. Service was smooth--friendly, attentive, but relaxed. Nobody hovering, nobody rushing you out. Just a good flow to the whole meal. We ended up sitting there longer than we planned, just hanging out and enjoying it, which probably says the most. The ambiance, a 3 story restaurant starting with a seated bar and lounge area, we were shown to the 2nd floor where there is an entire open concept kitchen and dining room along with bar tops for seating. There was an outdoor area on all levels, the 3rd floor was closed for a private event however we were told it's a cigar lounge. Our waiter Israel was amazing. He was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely attentive to my husband and I. The food was so good the dishwasher probably didn't beee to clean our plates after. I recently visited Haywire again, and I had such a great experience on the third floor. The staff upstairs was amazing--special shoutout to Ridge and another young lady who were both incredibly attentive, warm, and welcoming. Their customer service truly made the visit stand out. I sat in the outdoor bar area on a Saturday afternoon. It started off pretty calm with just a few people, and even with the rain, the ambiance was still a whole vibe--relaxed, clean, and inviting. As more guests arrived, the energy picked up nicely without feeling overwhelming. I stayed for over an hour and really enjoyed the atmosphere. For food, I had the wedge salad, which was beautifully presented and delicious, along with a side of mac and cheese and the mini tacos--everything was very flavorful. The only small note is that the mac and cheese was a little cold, but I still enjoyed it. Overall, I'd give this place a 10/10. The service, ambiance, and overall experience keep me coming back. I've visited this location many times for birthdays, graduations, and dinners--normally on the second floor--but the third floor is now definitely my go-to spot. The Caesar salad is solid -classic anchovy-forward dressing that feels traditional and well-executed, though it leans a bit heavy on the dressing. The standout, though, is the prime rib. Easily the best I've had at a restaurant so far -perfectly cooked, flavorful, and worth coming back for on its own. I've been wanting to try the brunch here for awhile so for my birthday we finally decided to try it. We were seated quickly (with a reservation) on the 2nd floor. This place is huge and beautiful on the inside with a rustic Texas vibe. Our server was great and the food was very fresh and delicious. We started with the lemon glazed blueberry biscuits and they were flaky and buttery. I had the chilaquiles, my husband had the double cheeseburger, and my daughter had pancakes. The redfish was slathered in some chunky seafood cream reminiscent of canned soup - absolutely wrecked the fish. The mashed potatoes were gummy and unseasoned. After dinner we went to the roof and sat in the airstream. Unfortunately a group of completely oblivious dudes had huddled with cigars directly in front of the entrance, hot boxing the air stream with cheap cigar smoke so it was an even more wretched experience than dinner inside. This is a restaurant I normally love and frequent often, and until this visit I've never had a single issue. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was a bit rough. When I arrived, I stood at the host stand and was ignored three separate times--no greeting, no acknowledgment, nothing--leaving me standing there feeling awkward and overlooked. That was disappointing, especially since first impressions usually set the tone and having worked as a hostess in the past, I feel it is one of the most important jobs in a restaurant. Once seated, we ordered the pork belly bites for appetizer that was better than it has even been in the past! They were wonderful!! Then for dinner I ordered a ribeye steak that arrived cold. I sent it back, but the replacement was also cold, which was frustrating. On a positive note, our waitress was absolutely lovely and handled the situation professionally. She ultimately removed the steak from the bill, which I truly appreciated and which helped soften the experience. While the service missteps and kitchen issues left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth, this place has earned a lot of goodwill with me over time. The female employee working on the upper level near the phone and menus was extremely unprofessional during my visit a few months back around lunchtime. When I asked to look at a menu before being seated, she handed it to me and pointed to an area, saying, "You can look over the menu here." Her tone and facial expression came across as dismissive, which really set a negative tone. If I were rating Ruby, who was working on the lower level, this would easily be a 5-star review. I'm out here visiting my best friend and his family, and they decided to take me here. The layout of the restaurant is phenomenal. It's three stories, there is a VARIETY of types of tables, you can see the expo line as well as the wine room on second floor. Tony was our server, and he was spectacular. He answered every question we had regarding food and cocktails, and upsold us the larger old fashioned. He also gave my out of town self some places on where to dance. We ate upstairs where there were bookcases against the wall and wood tables, all very homey feeling. One reason I was excited to try this place is that every food item fried here is fried in beef tallow! That is so much healthier than any seed oil! Our appetizer were the onion rings and they were crunch, huge, and delicious! For entrees my husband had the double cheeseburger and I had the meatloaf with fries. I had a bite of my husband's hamburger and wow it was one of the best burgers I have ever had! It was juicy and flavorful! My meatloaf was good but not amazing. Thr portion sizes was also a bit disappointing because it was two small slices. I would pass on it and recommend a burger. I would love to come back again soon to try their lunch options or their steaks. The steaks are affordably priced in my opinion for the area. We came by Haywire around 5 pm on a Friday and easily found seats at the bar. The bartender's station wasn't fully set up and he had to run back to the service station to get ingredients for our cocktails. He seemed a little unprepared and more interested in changing the channels on the TVs than attending to guests at the bar. In his defense, there were only about 5 of us at the bar at the time, but it did take some effort to get his attention. Happy Hour runs from 2 pm to 6 pm Monday-Friday and includes items like sliders and elk tacos. I opted for a Cesar salad with chicken. The dressing on the salad was not evenly tossed so some lettuce had very little dressing and some was drenched. It wasn't a big deal. I just ended up mixing it up more. But I didn't realize it at first since it was a little dark in the bar and that first bite of mostly dressing was a bit of a surprise. However, it tasted good. The second floor was where everyone was seated during our visit. It gets pretty loud. There is an elevator to get upstairs if mobility is an issue. The outside balcony has seating for large groups, families, and those hoping to listen to the music on the adjacent stage. I met my sister for dinner and even though it was a summer night, there was a nice breeze so it was still comfortable. We started with the spinach, crab dip and it had ample pieces of succulent crab and a buttery, crumb topping that we both really enjoyed. For the main, we split the a burger, I don't recall if it was called the western burger or the cowboy burger but either way it was delicious with crispy fried onions, a smokey barbecue sauce and cheese. Finally for dessert, we shared The Homestead cake and it was absolutely incredible, it was one of the most delicious cakes I've ever had. The waitress described it as a cross between a spice cake and a carrot cake, layered with a cream cheese frosting and it had some sort of caramel sauce on top the tasted a lot like toffee, it may have been a brown butter caramel sauce but it was a stunning presentation and I highly recommend it. The service was good but not great and only because it seemed like they were a little understaffed for how busy they were that night. Our waitress was a little slow coming to our table for drink refills and taking our order but again, she was very attentive while she was with us and I could tell that she was tired and felt bad for her. I dined here while visiting Dallas and ended up going two nights in a row! The first night I had the Wagyu chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, green beans, and the sausage gravy on the side. Our server recommended that I dip my fries in the gravy, and that was an absolute banger! It was so delicious. The meat was perfectly seasoned, and the crust was a very light. The only thing is that my steak had a few pieces of gristle, which kind of threw me off being that it was Wagyu. The sausage gravy and fries were absolutely delicious. I had to keep the sausage gravy separate because my husband can't eat pork, but if it were up to me, I would've slathered that on everything on the plate! The house salad is absolutely delicious. I could eat that every day, I love how it has dollop of creamy goat cheese, pecans, the dressing, everything was just absolutely superb. My old-fashioned was excellent, after dinner my husband and I ended up going upstairs to the bar area and I ordered another one Texas size, and it was about to knock me out, I had to share it with him because it was so strong, but absolutely worth it for the price! (Extra $3) The second night I went back with my sister and we got the crab dipped, which was almost perfect, but it had about a tablespoon too much salt, which made it a little bit difficult to finish. We went with the house salad again because I just can't get enough of it, and we shared the western barbecue burger, which wasn't as impressive as I had hoped. I wish we would have gone with the classic cheeseburger instead. We also ordered the Homestead cake which was described to us by the server as a mixture of carrot cake and spice cake but me being from San Antonio I would actually say it was a combination of those two AND tres leches! That cake was so good. I want to eat it all the time. It was fabulous and I'm even more excited to find out that there is a haywire right here in San Antonio. The view, the ambience, the service, everything was excellent, but the one thing that is difficult for me to ever give a five star is when I keep running out of water! Met up with a few friends here as we were in the mood for a killer steak and the Steakyard did not disappoint!! Our friends ordered a charcuterie board as they waited for us and it was soooo delicious full of local jams, berries, and even honey! The meat slices and cheeses were also so so fresh and delicious, I think I could have eaten that board as my meal and would have been happy as a clam! I was really hoping they sold the jam but unfortunately not, or at least that I could see. For our entrees we ended up ordering this off-the-menu meat board that had all of the different cuts from the menu, a dozen shrimp, and our choice of four sides. We had everything cooked medium rare and it came out absolutely perfect!! There was tomahawk steak, tenderloin, ribeye I think and sirloin? Honestly you can't go wrong - we also got the carrots, mashed potatoes, broccolini, and green beans for sides. There were four grown adults eating this and we still had 2-3 slices of steak leftover! It was so amazing but we left super stuffed, for all of that plus drinks, it came out to roughly $100/person with tip and it was worth every penny! Back in town for a Work thing and found ourselves back here for dinner. Location is super large with bar area in the downstairs portion with more dining for dinner and the upstairs portion. They also have a rooftop lounge area where you can smoke cigars and enjoy some cocktails. While they don't have parking directly in front of their location. there are plenty of parking garages that are located within a short walking distance. Our server was incredibly friendly and she ensured that we were taken care of. I ordered the steak salad. My steak was cooked perfectly as I always request medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. Salad is great - love the dressing that they put on it as well. I do wish they would put more of the cheese like croutons on it because they are delicious. Really enjoy this location. It does get very loud so if you're trying to have conversation, it can get hard at times to hear other people in your party. read more

Great food and atmosphere. Staff is always friendly and attentive. I've never had a bad experience at either of their locations.

Crispy pork belly bites, pork chop and fried green tomatoes and brussel sprouts for the win!! These were all delicious! I was lucky to sample them all!!! Our waiter was well versed in the menu and was able to answer any question and provide guidance. Excellent customer service! Ambiance was nice!!! I think this may be my new fav brunch! read more

I ordered the RedFish plate with a side of Cajun cream corn. The fish came topped with lump crab meat and shrimp which was very rich and tasty. Great comfort food feel here. The food came out very fresh/hot and the wait was not too long. They also have a reasonable selection of cocktails. Our waiter Reed was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was great for dinner and it was very busy so I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They are available on OpenTable which is very convenient. If I could eat at Haywire every single day, I absolutely would. It's perfect for literally any occasion: regular nights out, birthdays, date nights, work meetings... and trust me, I've done them all here. They take reservations (bless), and the whole place gives you that luxe, exclusive vibe without destroying your bank account. Plus, it's in the best part of Legacy West with a balcony overlooking the concerts at Legacy Hall. Dinner + live music atmosphere? Yes please. As for the food, there is no wrong choice. I've tried almost everything on the menu, so I would know. But the desserts... oh my gosh. You could walk in just for those alone. Do yourself a favor and try every single one. One of the most fun aspects of relocating is nearly every single restaurant being completely new to you. As a foodie, this is a dream. My sister and law and I came to Haywire for HH last Friday. She snagged us seats on the rooftop. I love how the various different floors and spaces all provide a different experience. We both had bourbon smashes, delish and refreshing for a very warm afternoon. We shared the queso and gulf ceviche. Both dishes were perfect pairings with our drinks. I love the chips! We could have easily gone for round 2 but I had an early flight and wanted to tread lightly ;) to keep well hydrated for the weekend. I'll definitely be back to enjoy HH and the full restaurant service. I've always loved a nice cigar and was happy to spot their cabinet on my way out. Most definitely enjoying one on my next visit. We went to Haywire Rooftop at Legacy West yesterday to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday, and unfortunately it turned into a very disappointing experience. We are a family of four. When we arrived, we waited about 15 minutes just for the table to be cleaned and to be seated. After we ordered, our onion rings came out quickly, and at first everything seemed fine. But after that, the service completely fell apart. After we finished the appetizer, no one came to refill our water or clear the plates. We then waited about 30 minutes with no food and no updates. We tried waving to our waitress several times, but she never came over, and we finally had to stop another staff member to ask him to find her. When she finally came to the table, I told her we had been waiting 30 minutes and asked why tables seated after us were already eating. She just said she did not know and would check. There was no apology. A few minutes later, another staff member brought our food, but by then it was no longer hot. The dishes were barely warm, which made it seem like they had been sitting in the kitchen for quite a while. The food was not enjoyable at all because of that. After we finished, we waited again. No one came to ask how the food was, no one cleared the plates, and no one brought the check. We had to stop another waitress and ask for our waitress again, but she still never came back. It was already around 9:00 PM, and our child had school the next day, so we finally had to leave. The next day, I found that my credit card had been charged $132.18, including a $23.12 tip, which is about 23%. That was extremely frustrating considering the level of service we received. This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner, but it ended up being one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had.
