I've been to Haywire twice now and both times I've gotten lucky and found a table in the bar area. It's always busy so I would recommend making a reservation. It's a really nice-looking, well-decorated restaurant. They have a large menu with a variety of food and beverage options. We started with the charcuterie board which was huge! There was a nice selection. I had the 6 oz filet. So many restaurants are doing 8, 10 or 12 so it was nice to have that size available. It was cooked perfectly to request. I had a side of Brussels sprouts which was also huge. But good flavors. Paired it up with some Zinfandel and it was a nice meal. read more

Haywire has been my favorite restaurant for years and on Mother's Day it was like they shrunk every portion! Every one chicken fried steak was the HALF tithe size of it compared to every year past. My husband ordered a 12 oz ribeye and it might've well been a 6 oz - it was the smallest I've ever seen. This was my third visit to Haywire. Why I haven't reviewed before who knows. This place exudes class and elegance but is homey enough that shorts and sandals are not frowned upon. Our server tonight was Miranda. She absolutely added positive vibes to the experience and we didn't lack for anything. She knew the menu and was patient answering questions. Every dish our table had was on point and 5 star! The pork belly bites and elk tacos are delicious appetizers. My entree was the pork chop and is by far the most tender and flavorful piece of meat I've ever tried. Do not leave without trying a slice of pecan pie with the cinnamon roll crust. We came here for our anniversary dinner and just loved it! Such a fun ambiance...posh, but cozy and comfortable. Our waiter was personable, friendly, and attentive without being awkward or in your face. My husband got an old fashioned that was so rich in flavor. I was limited to the non alcoholic options, but the mojito one was really fun! The chicken fried steak with jalapeno gravy was so good! The gravy makes it so unique. The ribs, Mac n cheese and cornbread was also eaten all up! And we finished it with an amazing bread pudding. We just had a great time and can't wait to come back! So, it was our third month of our newborn being born, and my wife's first time to be here. Her words exactly were "we should have come her sooner last year". Anyway, We had a reservation, seating was quick and we had no issues there. The atmosphere was loud enough for white noise for our newborn to actually sleep. Our service was great. I believe his name is colt(en). He was attentive and fantastic. Hannah had to avoid dairy, and he had everything taken care of there. Very happy and impressed there. I had an old fashion, well two. The other had four thorns in it. Either one was fantastic. Plus the ice cube has HW in it. I thought that was cool. We had the pork belly bites and as app. Delicious, and just like some of the other reviews. This is gourmet food, not large portion food. You enjoy each bite. My wife had the ribeye, which I'm not a big meat person. However, holy frick, their ribeye is cooked really well. The brocolini was pretty good too. I had the texas Redfish with crab and potatoes. Delicious sauce and the potatoes were amazing too. I was a big fan of it all. The cook on the fish was spot on. Finally, the chocolate cake so amazing. I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Haywire. Shortly after eating there, I developed severe stomach pain, nausea, and other symptoms consistent with food poisoning. The symptoms were intense enough that I had to seek medical attention. What's most frustrating is that this completely ruined what was supposed to be an enjoyable outing. Food safety should be a top priority at any restaurant, especially one that presents itself as upscale. Whether it was improper food handling, storage, or preparation, something clearly went wrong. I strongly recommend that management review their food safety procedures and quality control standards. No guest should have to go through this after dining out. Very disappointed and hoping they take this seriously so it doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

High quality meats (33 oz ribeye, 8 oz filet, 12 oz strip, and shrimp) and cooked to perfection For our sides, we had a host of items that I forgot to jot them all down but stand out items were the asparagus and the Cajun corn. Chimichurri rice was good but probably our least favorite out of the sides. Service was impeccable with waters filled constantly. We went to Haywire Rooftop at Legacy West yesterday to celebrate my daughter's 18th birthday, and unfortunately it turned into a very disappointing experience. We are a family of four. When we arrived, we waited about 15 minutes just for the table to be cleaned and to be seated. After we ordered, our onion rings came out quickly, and at first everything seemed fine. But after that, the service completely fell apart. After we finished the appetizer, no one came to refill our water or clear the plates. We then waited about 30 minutes with no food and no updates. We tried waving to our waitress several times, but she never came over, and we finally had to stop another staff member to ask him to find her. When she finally came to the table, I told her we had been waiting 30 minutes and asked why tables seated after us were already eating. She just said she did not know and would check. There was no apology. A few minutes later, another staff member brought our food, but by then it was no longer hot. The dishes were barely warm, which made it seem like they had been sitting in the kitchen for quite a while. The food was not enjoyable at all because of that. After we finished, we waited again. No one came to ask how the food was, no one cleared the plates, and no one brought the check. We had to stop another waitress and ask for our waitress again, but she still never came back. It was already around 9:00 PM, and our child had school the next day, so we finally had to leave. The next day, I found that my credit card had been charged $132.18, including a $23.12 tip, which is about 23%. That was extremely frustrating considering the level of service we received. This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner, but it ended up being one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we've had. I hope management takes service issues like this seriously. read more

I recently visited Haywire to celebrate my birthday with a friend and we had a great time! I had a Friday night reservation booked for 7:30pm and checked in right before. I did have to wait a few minutes for a table to open up, but I was sat by 7:45pm. There was an event happening outside at Legacy Hall so it was very crowded and understandably busy. The service and interior of Haywire were both highlights of the night. Every host/hostess and both of our waitresses asked about my birthday and were incredibly kind. The interior of the restaurant is also huge! It is pretty dark in there as well and the tables are close together. I liked the aesthetic but unfortunately the close tables did mean we could easily hear our neighbor's conversations all night. To begin the night, our waitress brought over a twinkly light to go on our table for my birthday, which was very fun! We started with waters to drink and chose the Meat & Cheese Board as our appetizer. This board was my favorite thing I ordered! The board contained this excellent sweet sausage, pastrami, toasted sour dough bread slices, raw honey comb, raspberry spread, candied pecans, multiple varieties of cheese including a delicious mozzarella with chives. This could be one of my new favorite charcuterie boards! For the entrees, we both went with the Double Cheeseburger. We were disappointed that the two patties could only be medium well. Unfortunately, I did not care for the smoky taste of the patties or the bacon on this burger. The bun and other toppings were okay but I was a little disappointed considering the price and the fact that meats are their specialty. The Seasoned Fries that came with the burger we both enjoyed though! For dessert, I ordered the Chipotle Chocolate Layer Cake and my friend chose the Whiskey Bread Pudding. I had been craving chocolate cake and I definitely got my fix here. The cake came along with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a birthday candle, which was incredibly sweet! The bread pudding was also excellent and its buttery croissants, caramel sauce, and cinnamon sugar could be tasted in every bite. Overall, I had a fun night here at Haywire. I had to rate it only four stars because of the volume in the dining room and the burgers. However, the service was wonderful and we loved the Meat & Cheese Board and desserts. After a day of travel, I just wanted a nice meal. Got in early (still on East Coast time) and was able to get a table at the chefs counter on the second floor. Don't worry there is elevator access. It was still happy hour when I sat down so I decided to get the chips and queso. This was a great choice, can easily be split, as the queso was smoky and had a good flavor. I then moved on to the wedge salad which was basically a small head of lettuce. But that was also great. Slightly sweet with the dressing helped the flavor of the bacon and blue cheese. And naturally I had to get a steak. I got a NY Strip cooked medium rare (as to the chefs recommendation) and it was melt in your mouth perfect. Capped that with the Brussel sprouts which had a slightly tangy flavor with some smoky and sweetness. Haywire is one of our favorite restaurants, upscale home cooking with a Texas flare. Being, regulars we have a 2 restaurant hacks that we use here all the time that may be helpful. First of all, their pork chop is humongous. Compared to the steaks it is a giant hunk of meat that my wife and I often split. Order an extra side and you are good to go. Secondly, this hack is around the line that is normally on the first floor. The restaurant actually has three levels with patios on each level. Usually when there's a line at the hostess stand on the first floor, you can always go around them and head up to the second floor and get on a waiting list or talk to the host stand on that floor. You can also go straight up to the third floor as they have a lot of seating there on the patio that is first come first served with full dinner service. Plus upstairs, you can listen to live music that is often playing in the Lexus music box. read more

Had a great experience the other week at Haywire. Made reservations online and they were pretty flexible with changing the time on a Saturday evening. We arrived a little after our reservation and were sat promptly. Once our waitress came around we got our Fried Green Tomatoes promptly. They were amazing! Seasoned to perfection. Went here for the first time for my husband's birthday! I loved the ambiance of this place. The manager came by our table to check on us a couple of times and told us to check out the top floor when we're done. I wished I had known about it prior or else I would have asked to sit up there. It's definitely a vibe upstairs. My sister's ribeye steak came out overcooked but they quickly fixed it. My favorite appetizer was the crab dip. Our tomahawk was cooked perfectly. I'm sad because the next day, when I was talking raving about the restaurant to my coworker they said they had complimentary whiskey cake for their birthday. If feel like it should be consistent with everyone since my husband definitely didn't get a complimentary whiskey cake. We would have loved to try it.
