[[HIGHLIGHT]]She took order I was waiting to use the restroom she went back outside to watch parade as I waited inside the empty restaurant it was so dirty in the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was a person in the bathroom before me I was taking too long when my friend who is black walked in to check on me. The racist lady walked back in and denied me service or to let me use restroom. Cancelled my order and everything. She is a tall Asian lady who works there. The toast with condensed milk is just like Hong Kong! The beef ho fun is a must order! Things we ordered and would reorder next time - beef rice rolls, shrimp rolls, hargow, chicken feet, the congee special, and the HK tea! Harmony Palace is a new-ish eatery (several months opened) in the Chinatown portion of International District, replacing Fortuna 2.0. They cover primarily breakfast and lunch, with an official closing time at 5pm. We were snooping at 4:55, and they waved us to enter. The staff was having their end-of-day meal, but they asked us to sit down anyway. The lady said it's fine because they would have been working in the back anyway. From what I can tell, it's a very small team where the owners are there with their sleeves rolled up. We ordered extra, extra to have leftovers and to make their extended time worthwhile. The food is basic homey quality, tasty, with generous portions, and very reasonably priced. Their menu is closer to a Hong Kong Style Café, aka cha chaan teng, with dim sum added. There's a bit of everything. Being newly remodeled, they have an "Excellent" rating from King County for food safety handling rating. I must admit that is uncommon for CID and is a pleasant surprise to see here. The Food: Ha Gow, aka Shrimp Dumpling, $5.95 - 5 Stars Generously sized and tasty. This item is a win. Siu Mai - aka Fish Roe & Pork Shui Mai, $5.50 - 4 Stars Also generously sized, this is very good but not great. Some restaurants do their pork mixed with shrimp and Chinese mushrooms for a more complex flavor profile and texture. Theirs is more in the normal category. Tomato Beef over Rice, $11.75 - 4.5 Stars The serving size is huge! This dish is easily two servings for most people. Very tomato-y and good chucks of beef. Shrimp Chow Mein, $11.95 - 4 Stars For the price, there aren't too many shrimps, which is understandable. I genuinely don't mind. I like the thin egg noodles they used. The dish is not oily, nor are the noodles lumped together. It sort of lacks wok hei, but the noodles weren't lifeless. I thought it was a very good dish overall. The portion is comfortable. Someone might be able to finish it, if it's the only thing they ordered. Mixed Mushrooms Cheung Fun, aka rice roll, $6.25 - 3.5 Stars The rice wrap is a bit off in the texture. I can't put a description on it exactly, maybe a bit on the gelatinous side and needs to be a bit limper. People who know cheung fun will know what I'm trying to say. On the flip side, this is one of the most well stuffed cheung fun ever. Lots of mushrooms! Shrimp Spring Rolls, $5.50 - 5 Stars This was another gem. Well stuffed pieces of crispy fried spring rolls with lots of shrimps. This is the version I grew up and happy to see it again. Note the color of them (see photo); it's relatively light color. When the food is crispy, that means the oil isn't excessively used. It's a good thing. Phoenix Claws, aka Steamed Chicken Feet, $5.50 - 3.5 Stars Love them or hate them or don't want to have anything to do with them, HKers love these. The color is a tad light, and the flavor is a touch on the mild side. Maybe they need to use dark soy? Not sure. Hong Kong style Milk Tea, Iced, $3.95 - 3 Stars This is just ok. New owner 4 months ago really have made this dim sum.dumplings.spring rolls.rice.noodles.congee.drinks a tucked away gem! Harmony Palace is delish!!!! Electric fans gently rotating around the restaurant provide a tranquil atmosphere. Nice large squeaky clean bathroom to wash your hands before eating. New owners! New spot..they should've mentioned it! What are the odds that place you like would go out of business.. have a new one take over. Use the same phone number. And same menu??! Except it's almost double the price for same entree. And it's the worst version of dish?! I called to order mapo tofu lunch special from Fortuna cafe 2.0. There was no mention of name change/ owner change till pickup. Or lack of lunch special! Which would still be fine since I'm all about trying new spots. But after paying double for supposed mapo tofu.. what I got was tofu in almost ketch up like sauce with peas! And pink pork. Pink color!! Like what? Raw?? Uncooked. It was literally tofu in ketchup. Zero spice, or numbing spice. Even the color was off. Tofu has pink streaks. Not a good look. Yuck!!! First, I would've appreciate them telling me upfront. Second, the worst mapo tofu ever. Great place for dim sum if you want to avoid the long lines! My friend and I ordered: - Shrimp balls - good amount of shrimp, tasted fresh (firm shrimp texture), the wrapper was a bit thicker then what I like but my friend enjoyed it - Shumai - firm and not too fatty! My friend normally does not care of Shumai but she liked it here. - Turnip cakes - my favorite! It was pan fried perfectly - Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce - really good and not drenched in sauce. It was parboiled perfectly (right amount of crunch). - Spareribs with bean sauce - good, what you would expect albeit a bit oily - 1x HK milk tea - would like to try this again. I asked for less sugar and I think she put0 no sugar lol. Would also like more ice! The total came to $19 per person w/ tax. Staff was friendly, business was clean (bathroom was clean too!). There are not a lot of tables. Although, this definitely seems like a place where the OG Chinese locals dine. When we came, there was a table of elders celebrating a birthday. The only con is the limited dim sum menu :( they didn't have the sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves, egg tart, stuff eggplants, etc. that you would normally get at a bigger dim sum restaurant. There was no dim sum cart. It is steamed/made to order. However, they did have the staples and that was enough to reel me in. I would definitely come back and try their other Cantonese dishes (sandwiches, chow fun, fried rice, wonton noodle soup, etc.) Harmony Palace is right next to Harbor City so give them a try and support the local moms and pops! read more

i'm almost hesitating letting this secret out because i don't want it to get too crowded! but i adore the boss lady and this place really does deserve more business. the boss makes everything, and puts so much care into all the food he makes. he even browns the sauce in the baked rice dishes before baking it! so know that when you're waiting, all that time is going into yummier food. taste, prices, and portions are great. i can eat here multiple times a week without suffering from too much salt and oil. it's a cozy mom and pop shop. some favorites: baked pork chop rice, bbq pork bun. read more

Adorable mom & pop place with classic tea house balcony and solid food. Staff was extremely friendly and food was tasty and freshly prepared. Good mix of dim sum staples and classic Hong Kong and Macau dishes like the baked casserole and coffee/tea mixed (if you really know HK diner food then you know this iconic beverage). Got some simple dim sum from here for take out. The menu is your standard fare. It was okay, not great. It will do if you have to get your fix, but not worth going out of your way to get to. Maybe I will try it again in a few more months after they are open a bit longer. read more

Not sure why the restaurant name and menu reads Harmony Teamed (as pictured), but Harmony Palace is what's listed on Yelp even when attempted to correct it. This new restaurant serves a variety of Chinese food: noodle soups, dim sum, Hong Kong style baked rice dishes. Portions are decent, and the four dishes we ordered for take out (beef chow fun, chicken chow mein, Portuguese baked chicken rice, fish and corn baked rice) were only okay-lacked salt/flavoring, and really heavy and oily. I would like to try the dim sum as that's what most people dining in were eating. Restaurant is two floors, but looks like only the downstairs is open. Seats about 20 people, and service is friendly. Ordering baked dishes takes longer. read more

Came here two days in a row. We got the crispy pan fried radish cake (lo bak go), golden crispy tofu, fried vegetarian spring rolls, sesame balls, string bean with garlic, hot and sour soup, and shrimp rice roll (noodly cherng fun). Harmony Teamed had just recently opened when we were there last week for lunch. The restaurant is very small. It was not crowded when we first arrived for a late lunch. But the restaurant was full when our food arrived. The phone was ringing a lot for take out orders. The waitress was very nice. The four of us ordered 2 orders of salt & pepper chicken wings, 2 orders of sesame balls, beef chow fun (dry), shrimp dumplings, salt & pepper spareribs, steamed pork buns, and string beans with garlic. Everything was delicious. The sesame balls, shrimp dumplings and pork buns were good sized, however, I felt the portions of beef chow fun, salt & pepper spareribs, salt & pepper chicken wings were on the small size. There was no way we could protect ourselves and mask and eat our food at the same time. We noted another couple in a corner masking and unmasking to try to deal with the same concern.
