I was super impressed with First Watch! We were in the area and looking for breakfast, a quick Yelp search brought us on over to First Watch. We put our name on the Waitlist via the Yelp app so during the ten minute drive over we wouldn't lose our place in line. It worked perfectly because when we walked in we didn't have a wait at all and were seated right away. They were slammed so service was a little slow, but very friendly! I order the Power Breakfast Bowl which was chia pudding with fruit and toast with almond butter. I wish they just offered the bowl without the toast as I wasn't super into the toast and it was a big part of the plate. My husband got the yogurt and granola bowl, it was pretty light on yogurt but chock full of granola and fruit which he liked. My mother in law went with a frittata which she enjoyed as well. The only thing we really didn't enjoy was their million dollar bacon. It was way too hard to eat and just not a great texture. I did like the pre-sweetened ice coffee! The menu is super vast and everyone in your group should easily be able to find something they like. From healthy options to traditional egg breakfast plates they have everything you need! read more

Fantastic breakfast spot! My one complaint is that this place is way too loud. About 10 minutes out we used the yelp app to get on the waitlist. I would definitely recommend doing this so you do not have to wait long for a table. I ordered a glass of fresh-squeezed OJ and the avocado toast. My mom ordered the tri-fecta with a side of grits. It was unfortunate to hear that they were already out of grits so we opted for seasoned potatoes but she liked it all and devoured her dish. The avocado toast tasted healthy and delicious; however, it was too much avocado. I would recommend splitting this with someone in order to avoid an avocado overload. Be careful to check your order if you order to go. We are relatively frequent diners at the Bradford/Cary location and of course we used to eat Inside before the pandemic. My son usually orders the Floridian French toast. It normally comes with an abundant amount of fruit if you eat inside: banana slices, berries and kiwi plus some berry compote. But the to-go order we received today for take out skimped on most of the fruit. There was ONE blueberry, 1/2 of a strawberry cut into 3 small pieces and a small amount of the other fruits. On a previous occasion, the avocado toast was inverted in the to go box. In addition, they don't offer to bring the food out to your car, so you have to go inside. Today (a Tuesday at lunchtime), it wasn't crowded and it was fairly safe to do the pickup inside. But last weekend, it was much more crowded and if you want to observe social distancing, you will be hard pressed to do this because you have to wade through the crowd to get to the cash register to pick up the food. A positive is that they installed plexiglass between booths. Overall, for takeout, probably not your best choice. read more

I can only write this about the Cary location. The manager is really young but runs this restaurant right! The staff is great. The food is always great. It can be pricy but the patio is dog friendly and so is the staff. Seriously there's zero reason to go to any of the other FW locations. You just aren't going to get the service or the quality of this location. They've never failed to deliver. And i give this manager full credit because he deserves it for keeping this place on par as the best go-to breakfast/brunch spot in Cary. read more

Very overrated. All 3 of our meals were bad, to start with all of the dishes were served to us cold. The sauted potatoes were actually raw. "Trifecta" was a complete disappointment with the saddest tiniest sausage link imaginable, really not worth the price at all. And the worst part of it all was how bad my family was treated when they complained to the server, actually ZERO service recovery and treated us like we were crazy. First time coming to this location and it was great. The waitress was prompt and gave us plenty of time to look over the menu when we couldn't decide on an option right away. She was quick with refills and very sweet. The food came out quickly and it was literally the best avocado toast I've ever had. I also really liked the presentation of it. My date had the Chickichanga and it was delicious, too (because you can't get through brunch without trying everyone else's food, too). This was probably my 4th visit to First Watch and they never disappoint. After the trying the Cary and Raleigh locations, it appears that the service and food tends to be consistent. I tried the morning meditation juice for the first time and it was really refreshing. I highly recommend the holey donuts. I'm a huge fan of donuts so these were perfect. They are tasty by themselves without the dipping sauces and honestly serving sugar dusted donuts with 3 different sauces was overkill imo. I went for vanilla crème anglaise (YUM!) and didn't bother with the chocolate sauce and mixed berry compote. Now on to our meals...I opted for the traditional breakfast. (egg whites, savory chicken sausage patties, seasoned potatoes and whole grain artisan toast) My friend got the cinnamon pancake breakfast and we were both happy with our meals and the service we received. Not bad! I really really like the AM Superfoods Bowl. The chia seed pudding is excellent. It's topped with fresh berries, banana, and granola and comes with almond butter toast. Very filling! I've also tried the avocado toast here. It's good albeit a bit basic. Probably wouldn't order it again because I can make something similar. But the chia seed pudding is much better than anything I could make. My friends also like the pancakes and French toast. They have lots of options, so this is great for big groups because there is something for everyone. For breakfast food, there are many healthier options. All the ingredients are clean and fresh. Obviously, there are unhealthier/more decadent options like French toast, pancakes, etc but the ingredients are still very high-quality and fresh. The dishes are also very large so I'm sure you could share. If not, you're definitely getting your money's worth. On the weekends, this place can get very busy, so be sure to check in on yelp waitlist beforehand so that you don't have to wait too long. read more

July 2019: What happened ?! Some wait staff has long hair that is not tied up or back and gets into the food! The one lady there is so rude who might be the owner/manager that I was just about to leave the place if I was not with other people in our party. The hours are posted but when you have customers and business should you be tiding up when customers in the place? First Watch might be "short lived" as I have heard all sorts of excuses about heating the maple syrup. Oh please, it is necessary to inundate customers with excuses. Why is parsley on a plate for multigrain pancake? Give this customer an excuse to return because so far we pass!!!! Ironically, the kale tonic was delicious the first time I tried it and it has YET to get 3 stars since other visits. I came here for brunch on a weekday, and it wasn't busy - we were promptly seated and attended to. The people who greeted and sat us didn't seem like they particularly wanted to be there, though. It was a weekday morning, but at least try? I ordered the the Farmhouse Skillet Hash, which was a hash with two over-easy eggs. The hash included bacon, avocado, onions, tomatoes, and cheese. It was really good. The hash was crispy, as was the bacon, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The flavors all came together well, and it was just a great combination of things I like to eat in one dish. It was a bit on the salty side, and a tad greasy as well, but I still enjoyed it. I had my meal with coffee, which was just ok. My wife ordered the Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict. The eggs were poached well, and the smoked salmon was tasty. There was also red onion and tomatoes, and thankfully my wife got the Hollandaise sauce on the side, because we're both not huge fans, but just a bit of the sauce goes well with the eggs and salmon. It came with mixed greens on the side. Overall, I enjoyed the food. It wasn't overly heavy, even though brunch food can tend to be. The space is clean and nice. The service was just so-so. Everything came out promptly, but there just didn't seem to be much effort in being friendly - not that they were mean or rude to us, but the workers just didn't seem to care all that much. What a great brunch spot! Reasonably priced, a wide selection for everyone and delicious food. We came at around 9:30 on a Sunday and there was no wait but by 10 AM we noticed a pretty steady crowd at the front. It did seem to be moving pretty fast though. I chose the frittata rustica with potatoes. I'm normally not a tomato person but this was amazing! Every flavor really worked together and it was super filling. My husband got the summer special, a carnitas bowl, and also loved it but he did make a comment that it could use more meat. Regardless, we will be back! read more

The food was good the service was not. We went on a Monday morning and it was my friend and I who first sat down while we waited for another friend. They brought us coffee but didn't come around to see if we wanted any other types of drinks. I was able to flag down the waitress but she said she gave away our table and would tell the other waitress. While this was happening my other friend arrived. Our waitress finally came over. We decided to just order everything at this point. I added the juice to my order at that time and never got it (but we were charged for it). We decided to just have it removed from the bill because who knows if we would have gotten it. I asked for to go silverware which was never brought out so I got it when we paid the bill at the end. I really liked the superfood power breakfast. It was almost worth the bad service. I just left the restaurant. My food was amazing, came out on time, and correctly. If you're wondering why they have one star - it's what happened AFTER I ate that warrants this review. My sister and I ate outside, ordered two entrees, and the bill came. My sister realized she'd forgotten to place a to-go order (the bill was already printed). Our waitress, said no problem, I'll take the order and bring out an updated bill. She did that, we got the to go order, and took our bill up to the front counter inside of the restaurant to pay. We paid, tipped, chatted briefly with the staff up front, and left out the front door. As we walked away from the restaurant we hear a man screaming at us - 'heeyyyyy' from the restaurant. He runs out to us and says, "did you pay your bill? one of our managers inside says you left without paying"... at this point my sister and I are mortified (we paid, he was not only loud - but loud and WRONG). Also, I should note, it was prime time breakfast/brunch with many people coming into the restaurant. Long story short we were interrogated, and treated like thieves. The server came to the front, to which we recounted with her and the man who yelled at us, that we left that bill behind as it was not accurate. We'd ordered MORE food, and thus paid the updated (higher) bill, that was brought to the table. The waitress looked extremely uncomfortable, as did everyone else who was at the front desk, who worked there, and had literally just taken our payment and knew we'd paid. Yet and still, we were humiliated while waiting as they nervously fumbled with the receipts at the counter, only to find that we indeed, HAD PAID already. Simple mistake, but the problem here is that rather than verify by checking receipts, their instincts were to heckles us across the parking lot, and ASSUME we hadn't paid. I should mention our receipts were literally at the top of the pile at the counter. He would have had to pass the counter to come out to yell at us. I don't understand why the assumption was that we didn't pay, but this says more about them than us I suppose... Long story short. No apologies were made, and I literally had to call back to the restaurant (after arriving home halfway to tears) to demand they take some sort of action to make sure this doesn't happen in the future. It's a shame, I live in the apartments across the street and prior to today, this was our go-to breakfast spot. Needless to say I won't be returning. I won't mention race here, you can make your own inferences. I will say however, regardless of color, the way we were treated is beyond disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

This place was love at first site for me. The interior is tastefully done and has such a upscale feel to it while still being rooted. I enjoyed seeing a good variety on menu items. However we settled for Belgian waffles, and avocado toast. For us, any breakfast place is judged by the way they make Belgian waffles. If they can nail it, then we have a long term relationship with the place! And boy, did they deliver the right amount crisp and on the outside and soft on the inside waffles! So much so that we had to put in another order for the same! Avocado toast was filling, tasty and healthy I will certainly be visiting again to taste some other menu items and hopefully this place will live up to their impression. read more

Let's talk about YUM! The food is amazing however our waitress made our first experience at First Watch one that will have us coming back again! I got the granola banana pancakes which had whole slices of banana with homemade granola - it was delish and quite big. Cheesy grits were good but had too much cheese for my liking, next time I'd probably go without the cheese as the grits were good as is. The food here is extremely tasty and the service has always been friendly. I was excited to try their version of Shakshuka (called Baked Mediterranean Eggs here) as not many places make it - excellent rendition. The menu is very brunchy and the crowd is too - if you brunch for the 'gram you'll love it here (minus the no mimosas). For a quick, slightly elevated brunch, it delivers. Knocking off one star because of the pricepoint. For $5 I get 4 slices of bacon - why not 5? The shakshuka was $11 but came with 2 eggs when it clearly needed 3 (per my experiences with the dish in Mediterranean places - also not sure why they asked how I wanted my eggs cooked. They should only be over-easy in this dish). Oh, and if a constant "squeaky wheel" sound bothers you, try not to sit under their air vents. And avoid the 2-seater tables unless you hate table space - they're already half-full with menus, placards, sauces and shakers BEFORE they give you water bottles, coffee pots and your food. Overall, a neat place for brunch, but for me it's a once in a while place - not a regular stop. For hardcore brunchers who love to stay and talk, I'd imagine this place is heaven. read more

Ok food, if you can get it. Placed an online order day early. Got a confirmation today morning that my order will be ready on time. Arrived to pick up , only to be kept waiting for now 45 mins past scheduled time. When asked how much longer, staff had no idea. I was just told it will be ready when they can get to it. Talking to people its clear there are folks who called in and their orders are also not coming out on time. There are several others who are waiting for their online orders well past scheduled time. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in town, even though I'm generally not a huge fan of chains. You can certainly get your fill of comfort foods here like Lemon ricotta pancakes or a breakfast burrito, but there are certainly more healthy options to choose from here than anywhere else. They offer fresh juices, quinoa bowls, salads, and less greasy options than other breakfast joints. Many of the egg and sandwich dishes are served with greens. The coffee is decent, and the wait staff is friendly and attentive. My wife has an egg allergy that makes breakfast and brunch out pretty challenging. She was able to choose from many options, and we both left satisfied. I ordered the Chickichanga, and it was very tasty! Would highly recommend. One of the downsides to getting a table here is that they don't take reservations, and they won't seat you without all members of your party present. I understand this rule protects servers from an empty section, but it can be a little annoying. The wait can be long at times, but it seems to really pick up at this location around 10 a.m. If you can get here before then, you may save yourself some time waiting. read more
