I've been to Scratch Kitchen and Taproom a few times. Their service is consistently good especially if you sit at the bar. The food is kind of a mix of American and southern comfort food. It's a little too rich for me most of the time but the atmosphere is nice and they have lots of outside seating and can accommodate large groups. Street tacos and fried chicken salad are good.

Stopped in for lunch - descent meal. There was a variety of options. The salad didn't have a ton of flavor, felt like it was missing something. The service was ok.

I was visiting my friend in Raleigh for the weekend and on my first day, we decided to check out Scratch as the pictures on Yelp look enticing. Which overall, our experience was good although our waiter often disappeared and didn't stop by very often. For food, I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese, which was large and pretty decent. Could've used a smidge more seasoning but I enjoyed my meal overall. It's large enough that it could be split between two people. We also got the biscuits as an appetizer and I would say you can definitely pass on them. They tasted almost like an English muffin which is not my favorite. Now for the drinks, those were horrible and it's been awhile since I've had a really bad drink. My friend ordered the 'honey don't be sour' and I got a different one that was recommended by our waiter as it was popular and on the sweet side. Both were terrible, I mean like wow that's bad. I didn't drink it and just decided to drink water instead. My friend finished hers begrudging. Final rating is a 3.5. I would give Scratch another chance but would skip the cocktails the next time I go.

We were traveling through the area and did a little yelp research on places to eat. This one stood out to me with a unique menu. They have a beautiful inside area that could accommodate many different size parties. They also had a very nice outdoor patio with plenty of tables as well. Joe was our main server, who was very friendly and attentive, but then we also had another lady who brought out our food and that would check on us periodically as well. The menu is very eclectic to serve all pallets. And each dish that we had was a flavor bomb! Very tasty! The overall experience, and the taste of the food, was five stars.

We came out for my birthday dinner (my choice!), and with so many good options around, I ended up going back to Scratch in Apex. It had been a while since our last visit, and this was the perfect excuse. Sunday night, party of five (wife, both boys, and one girlfriend). No wait, no rush, just a nice, easy evening. I went with the pork chop and swapped the collard greens for bacon Brussels sprouts, because after nearly nine years of living here, I still haven't fully acquired the "collard greens appreciation gene." Maybe one day. The portions were very generous, and the three mac 'n' cheese dishes were generous enough that those orderers needed to-go boxes. Meanwhile, the poke bowl and I cleaned our plates. No regrets there, my pork chop was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. Our server, Indiana, was excellent, friendly, attentive, and happy to answer every question we had. Only downside? The restaurant was a bit warm inside. Not unbearable, just enough that we noticed. But that's a small thing compared to the great food, great service, and overall good vibes. Not our first visit, and definitely not our last... honestly, we should come here more often. Solid comfort food, done right.

So glad we decided to walk in on this establishment. We opted out just to have appetizers and had the firecracker shrimp the crabcakes, the pork belly, the green tomato stacks, and the roasted cauliflower. We finished it all definitely will come back.. Service was fantastic. Real trendy spot in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina.

Went for lunch on a Sunday and it was really busy! The parking was a little difficult, but it could have been because there was an arts fair going on nearby at the same time. I got a spot in the parking lot outside, but my friend had to park several blocks away. The servers were super friendly and patient, considering my friend was late due to parking and I had to wait for her for a while. I really liked my salad, topped with salmon. I love a place with healthy options! My friend tried a bunch of appetizers and enjoyed them. We also enjoyed mocktails! For desert we shared the biggest piece of chocolate cake ever. A very nice ambiance with lots of windows. Also not too loud for conversation. Would definitely be back!

I was in Raleigh and stopped here for brunch on the way to the airport. The place was crowded and we were seated right away. Service was excellent, it was the food that didn't do it for me. The menu stated that everything is made from scratch with care and attention to detail, which set high expectations. Coffee for 2 came in a French Press and was quite good. Both my husband and I ordered the same thing: which is unusual, the Crème Brûlée French Toast. It sounded amazing--fresh local sourdough bread, bourbon blueberry maple syrup, vanilla whipped cream, fresh mint. It's served with potatoes, but we were able to sub fresh fruit When the food arrived at our table less than a minute after ordering, I knew something was off. It definitely didn't taste made-from-scratch. The flavors just didn't come together for me: the sourdough was too sour, and the syrup had an overpowering bourbon flavor with barely any maple coming through. It all just felt out of balance. I left disappointed. The place has a great atmosphere and service, maybe we just picked the wrong dish--but for a spot that prides itself on scratch-made food, it missed the mark.

We came for Saturday brunch and were surprised it wasn't too busy. The place feels a little small, but is cute and had a southern vibe. Drinks were great. I had the mango mimosa, my husband had the Maple Bacon Old Fashioned, and our friend had the Bloody Maria. We all enjoyed them. The food was a bit of a mix. I ordered the spicy crispy chicken biscuit and didn't enjoy it. It wasn't spicy, it was dry and lacked flavor. It really needed a sauce or syrup. My husband got the Chicken Dutch Pancake and thought it was excellent. Our friend liked the Southern Huevos Rancheros Bowl but felt it was overloaded in black-eyed peas and it overpowered the dish. Service was great. The bartender and our waitress were both very kind and helpful. We would definitely come back and try something different next time.

I'm not sure if I went on an off day considering all the rave reviews but my Mac and cheese dish was straight up inedible. It was oily and no flavor whatsoever. I ate a few bites before giving up. Very disappointed and wouldn't go back!

We were in downtown Cary and walked to this restaurant. The location is very nice and walkable. We each got a drink that both were okay; neither were a wow for us. I missed getting a picture but we got the pimento cheese wontons as an appetizer which were good; they weren't exactly what I was expecting on the shape of them and the crunch you get on a normal wonton wasn't there but the flavor was there. We got the Bacon Hoop Cheeseburger to split which was just okay; burgers are one my favorite foods and it just didn't hit that sweet spot of feeling satisfied. I did appreciate that the red onions were pickled though; it was a nice difference to the usual. We also felt rushed like the waiter wanted us to pay and get out as soon as possible so they could get the next group in; if I feel like I am cattle being herded, I am not going to feel like the overall experience was good. However, everything was good enough that I would give Scratch Kitchen another try if we were in the area.

The restaurant itself was super cute. Loved the atmosphere. The server gave great suggestions on drinks. I got the apple cider fall special. But the food was just so so. I got the low country pad Thai and did not like it at all it's just not great.

My wife, family, and I recently visited Scratch Kitchen and Tap Room, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. We decided to try their new Korean marinated flank steak sandwich, and wow, it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. The flavors were perfectly balanced. The pickle had a unique, tangy flavor that complemented the rich steak beautifully. The bread was toasted just enough to add texture but still soft enough that it didn't scratch the roof of your mouth, a small detail, but one that makes a big difference. The Korean-style mayonnaise was phenomenal; I'm not entirely sure what's in it, but I'd love to find out because it brought everything together. The arugula added a fresh, peppery touch that really completed the sandwich. This was our first time visiting this particular location, but we've been to their sister restaurants, The Mason Jar and The Tap Station, and Scratch Kitchen holds its own with the same level of excellence. The service was top-notch, our waitress was incredibly knowledgeable about everything from the beer on tap to the house-made condiments. Even the ketchup was a premium Heinz variety, and the ranch dressing was made in-house and tasted fresh and flavorful. We also tried a couple of their burgers, including the barbecue burger, which were both excellent, but that Korean steak sandwich definitely stole the show. All in all, Scratch Kitchen and Tap Room delivered a five-star experience, from the food and service to the welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

Baja Turkey is made with turkey breast with chipotle honey lime yogurt sauce, shaved cabbage, pickled red onions, avocado, and pepper jack cheese. I didn't get avocado and added bacon and WOW! My sandwich was pretty tasty, with a solid olive tapenade, but I kind of wish I had picked a different bread since the white ended up being nice and soft but also a little boring :) Hey, they recommended that I pick that one! The Deets: I had the chance to go by this location of La Farm Bakery near downtown Cary on Chatham St a couple of times during the past holiday season. I had walked over first to see about getting some gift baskets shipped to friends for the holidays but found out upon entering that they only handle shipping at the Preston Corners/Cary Parkway location. I was surprised as this location had such a large footprint with being the size of a grocery store but most of that size is used for the actual baking/storage itself it appears. The bakery service/cafe at this location is pretty small but nice and clean, with the only sitting area only outside with no actual inside seating to enjoy any purchases. There is not a dedicated inside sit-down cafe experience here. The actual selections on the shelves available seem in less volume than say their Preston Corners location (on my second visit here I wound up going to Preston Corners again for the items I wanted for a holiday party I was to attend). The same, still delicious, baked items in their display case as well as coffee/beverages are available here and still as enjoyable which earns most of their four stars here. Luckily the second visit I made here was on a warmer day so the outside seating could be utilized if you wanted to eat there. Another reason for their four stars here is the great positive attitude and friendly demeanor of the staff here. Even though they could not help me with my shipping of gift baskets on the first visit when I inquired, I was offered coffee while I waited for my ride share to take me to the Preston Corners location and that was greatly appreciated. The small cafe at the downtown Cary of La Farm Bakery is a nice stop for bakery items and goodies but for more of the full "La Farm experience" for gifts etc. then you may want to start out at the Preston Corners/Cary Parkway location.
