After a couple months of post-holiday craziness (work travel, sickness, snowstorms, and late work days) I finally made it out for something other than takeout and it was absolutely worth it. Hubby and I got dressed up and headed to Peregrine for their special Iftar menu, and the entire experience was phenomenal. For the Iftar menu you had to make a reservation but I'd recommend making a reservation in general because the restaurant was packed all evening. One of the highlights was getting to meet Chef Saif Rahman, who was incredibly kind and personable. You could really tell how much care and thought went into the menu. The staff overall was warm and welcoming, as well as our server Cole. The food itself was excellent. The menu had a really interesting fusion element, with dishes that felt familiar but had unexpected twists. Standout dishes: Beef Heart Shawarma with Tahini Hummus : this ended up being my favorite starter and the one I was most unsure about on the menu . It was incredible rich, tangy,with a little bit of heat, and perfectly balanced. Carolina Gold Rice Pulao: my husband is Bengali, so rice dishes are taken very seriously in our house. He said this was the best rice Pulao he's had in the U.S., which is very high praise. It was also presented gorgeously. Milk Braised Lamb Shank: deeply flavorful and extremely tender. Everything was delicious and nothing felt heavy-handed, every dish had depth and uniqueness. We didn't try any cocktails this time since we were focused on the Iftar menu, but several on the regular menu looked amazing, so we'll definitely be back to explore those. Atmosphere: The space has a modern jungle feel with soft lighting, which creates a beautiful setting for dinner. I loved all of the tropical plants they had around. It can get a little loud, but that's fairly typical for modern restaurants without many soft furnishings. It felt lively rather than overwhelming. Value: Honestly, this was easily the best restaurant food I've had in the Triangle. We were also impressed with the price for the quality , $75 per person before tax and tip for the Iftar menu. In many larger cities, a meal like this would easily run $100-$125 per person. Overall: Creative food, thoughtful execution, and genuinely warm hospitality. 10/10 recommend, and we'll absolutely be back. read more

I made a reservation for my husband and I well in advance, so we wouldn't have to worry. We did have to wait a few minutes for them to clean a table before we were seated once we arrived. They took our coats, which was nice. Like others have mentioned, it did take a while for someone to come over and bring water and take drink orders. Once we had a server, he was very good and attentive. To drink I got the amaretto sour, which was very good. For the food, our server said they wanted the whole order at once, which was kind of weird. Normally I like to order appetizers and then my main course. We started with the bread and butter, which was so good. I loved the salt with the sweet butter. Then we shared the bengalj wedding chicken, roasted lamb, and coconut rice. I didn't love the chicken foot being on the plate, but it was very good chicken. I really liked the lamb, which had a unique flavor. I wasn't expecting to like the coconut rice so much, but it was great! It had a sweetness that wasn't too sweet. To finish it off we got the chocolate dessert. While I liked it, I don't think it justified paying $19. Overall, I enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service once we had a server. However, I don't know if I would come back. I would prefer to go to tamasha or get a really good steak somewhere. read more

I'll start by saying that we really loved our meal at Peregrine. It was delicious and the staff were all very kind and accommodating. The decor is beautiful as well. There's a subtle feeling of power, elegance, and adventure that their minimal decoration style gives the restaurant. It's an exciting space to be in. For the overall experience though, I have caveats though. Let's get into it. We started with a couple of cocktails and the bread and butter starter. This was the high point. If you go here, don't skip the bread and butter. It's too expensive, but it's the best thing I had. They have a house made, naan-like bread and a salty house made butter that's ever so lightly sweetened. Sweetened by what? Honey... from bees on the roof of their very building! How cool is that!? t didn't disappoint either. It was delicious. Moving on to the main portion of the dinner, we got the chicken and the lamb with a side of rice and shared everything. The coconut rice is terrific. It's not just coconut. The rice has spices and onions and other herbs mixed into it. It's intentionally seasoned and ever so lightly sweet. Delicious! The mains were good as well, but not as memorable. The chicken and its sauce were juicy and flavorful. I've had good chicken though, and this dish does not bring forward anything to make it stand out. As for the lamb, it was also very good. But the meat of the lamb could almost go unnoticed among the grits and assorted other components of the dish. Again, very good, just not memorable. We finished the meal with chocolate dessert which had the same energy to it. It was very rich and delicious, certainly. But it was not so unique that I was thrilled to have paid $20 for it. And the size of it was not massive. Which brings me to the price. We paid around $200 for our meal. I'm not opposed to this on a special occasion. But I want the experience for that money to be truly exceptional. When both of our main dishes were ultimately not that memorable, and our dessert being disappointingly small, it does not feel like the value of this experience lives up to that price point. Some other odd things affected the experience as well. The server told us that the chef required that we order our entire meal (appetizers, mains, and sides) all at one time, when we attempted to put in an appetizer order. That's fine, it's just not a demand other restaurants make of customers. Additionally, he recommended we scrape up the chicken sauce with the rice when we were discussing what to order. That feels like an odd recommendation to me because it would have drowned the unique flavors of that awesome side dish in the more typical flavors of that chicken dish. It made me think he was just trying to be sure to make a sale on one of the sides. Overall, I'm glad we went to Peregrine. And we had a terrific time. But I think in the future I will look somewhere else for our fine dining experiences. parking is a little busy, but as soon as we got in there restaurant the host greeted us and set us down right away. our server was very friendly, informative, and attentive. Everyone wished us a happy anniversary and my husband happy birthday. I love how they paid attention to detail. The server made sure she let us know about the food and questioning and allergies. Now ask for the food it was OK. The best thing on the menu that we had was the chicken. It was very delicious but too salty. The pasta was overcooked and chewy for my liking. The drink I had the garden party i didn't taste any liquor just the flavor which was refreshing. The watermelon drink with the black salt was delicious. the roasted carrots was pretty tough and seemed a little undercooked. My crab salad was more a "taco" to me than a salad and very small. I was actually looking forward to a real salad. The lamb appetizer was also delicious. overall the service was amazing, but the food didn't match my liking so we wouldn't be back but we thank you for the hospitality. The hub and I had a lovely pre-Valentine's Day dinner here last night. The restaurant was a bit hard to find, located in the ground floor of an obscure office complex near North Hills. When we entered, I was impressed by the industrial chic decor. The menu was a trip around the world, an eclectic mix of dishes and drinks plucked from the corners of the earth. I ordered the chai martini, which was excellent. However, I was disappointed by the very brief wine offerings. We started with the tuna teradito, which was delicious. I then ordered the lamb, which was prepared al pastor style. It wasn't my favorite. However, my husband really enjoyed his wedding chicken entree. Additionally, the coconut rice wand broccoli I were both very tasty. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but the service was a bit slow. Came here as a party of 5 on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. Online reservations were open the night before but quickly filling up the day of--only 2 time slots left. You do have to leave a credit card when making an online reservation which charges $20 per person if it ends up as a no-show. For drinks, I was looking most forward to the dirty chai martini, which was good but I ended up liking the Amrita more (recommend if you have a sweet tooth). Ordered multiple dishes to share: the tiger salad, Bengali wedding chicken, roasted lamb, roasted trout, barbecued squash, and coconut rice. The tiger salad was like a Thai green papaya salad. Decent. 3.5/5 The Bengali wedding chicken was definitely a favorite. Very aesthetically pleasing. The chicken was so tender, including the dark and white meat, and paired well with the creamy sauce. 5/5 The roasted lamb was also a favorite. It was a mixture of textures from the sliced lamb to the tiny pieces of pineapple, to the creamy grits. 5/5 The roasted trout was decently sized and tender. Definitely a good option if you're looking for a lighter option. 4.5/5 The sides of coconut rice and barbecued squash were definitely top contenders too. Loved that the coconut rice came with egg yolk, good savory/lightly sweet option. 5/5 The barbecued squash was also surprisingly good and went well with the cheese. 4.5/5 The service was fantastic. Since we were celebrating a birthday, the staff was really nice to bring out complimentary dessert: chocolate balls filled with yuzu cream. The filling reminded me of melted ice cream. He was even considerate enough to remember that the birthday guest didn't like dairy so he also brought out gummies. The ambience of the place was modern and aesthetically pleasing. Don't know if it's part of the flow, but food preparation was slower than I expected (30 minutes before drinks arrived and an hour before the meal), but it did give good time to socialize in a place with nice vibes. Free parking available as parallel parking outside the building. Overall pricey but good quality food served in a place with great ambience and service. Had the pleasure of doing our monthly mystery dinner here at Peregrine for ladies night! Our reservation was a little earlier than we had planned but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we were able to take in the stunning decor and atmosphere before it was packed. Our server was very knowledgeable and patient with answering all our questions about the menu. The drinks were top tier and the dishes - edible art! While this place is on the higher end price wise, I do feel it's a lovely spot for grabbing drinks, date night or celebratory evening out with friends/family. Great new spot tucked into a new office building. Decor is stunning. Well spaced tables in a Scandinavian style. Inventive art on the walls, very cool light fixtures. Background music at the right volume. Even though high ceilings and exposed ductwork, it was quiet enough for converation without shouting. Service was excellent. Thanks To Shemmy for orchestrating the meal and explaining the menu choices. BBQ King Oyster mushrooms were excellent. Cut like an apple, broiled just right and served over an outstanding sauce. A great start. Next up was gem lettuce. Crisp lettuce served dressed with pistachio cream, fancy grated pecorino and topped with pickled shallots. The cream was the perfect complement to the tart lettuce, cheese and shallots. This was arguably the best dish. Next was duck breast. This one was disappointing. I was envisioning Asian-style crispy skin with lean flesh. In this prep, the sorghum-glaze wasn't crunchy. The duck was more fat than flesh. The foie gras is an interesting touch and the flavor is complementary to the duck. Also tried Gold Rice Khichdi. These are seared scallops served over risotto-style gold rice. The rice is very rich and almost too creamy. Deliciously spiced. Scallops perfect - pan seared, juicy and moist with a little crunch in each bite. Each scallop topped with a fried pork rind (aka chicharrones). Lastly for dessert we tried chocolate date fudge. This features carmelized milk gelato, marcona almond and dried kumquat. The presentation is breathtaking - you almost hate to take a bite! The combo of flavors is excellent. Tart kumquat, smooth, creamy gelato and rich chocolate. Overall, a cool new place. Located in an office building on the bottom floor is a wonderful restaurant serving cuisine from around the world. As you approach the restaurant the hostess opened the door for us and seated us at our table. Our waiter Cody was great. He was detailed and attentive to our needs and made helpful suggestions on how to approach the menu. We started with the mushroom and kebab. The mushroom was Cody's suggestion and it did not disappoint. Spicy and savory. The kebab had a delicious accompaniment of fruit and a crème. Main dish was a large 22 ounce steak we split with delicious potatoes and pickled vegetables. The cocktails were on point and we hope to return and enjoy this restaurant again. read more

Utterly spectacular food, service & ambiance. Certainly Peregrine has instantly established itself as one of Raleigh's finest restaurants. Everything we had was superb, and the service was super attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommended: the beef heart and chicken crackling appetizers, the Bengali Wedding Chicken, Carne Asada and the Sunburst Trout. Cocktails were ~$18, entrees range from $32 to $58. The Peas & Beans and Bonfire Potatoes sides were also quite good. If you're a foodie you absolutely must visit Peregrine. We went to Peregrine last night to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. Since it was his birthday they provided a complimentary champagne toast which was very thoughtful. For drinks we have the Cabernet and the Matchmaker. For appetizers we had the Tiger Salad and the Waygu Tartare. The shrimp in the salad was the freeze dried little crisps in the salad which was surprising and gave the flavor of shrimp, but not was what we were expecting. The texture of the waygu was good but the flavor was primarily masked by the sauce. For the entrees, we had the halibut and the lamb. Both were so delicious and definitely the stars of the show! The halibut was so tender and moist, and the curry sauce was delicious. The restaurant is away from the hustle of downtown or a busy street. The parking is convenient and the location is a beautiful office building, ground floor. We were escorted inside to our big round table in the corner from where we could enjoy the view inside and out. We ordered cocktails, and the dirty chai martini won our hearts, it had this mix flavor of chai, coffee and grey goose, must try. In the "arrivals" we ordered , chicken crackling, bonfire potato, sheesh kabab and piyazi. All these were creatively thought out unique dishes which reminded me of the flavors from India. In the "journeys" , they have limited options and we ordered most of them, Ode to Amina, the matcher jhol and the Bengali wedding chicken are an inspiration from an Indian state of Bengal, which is popular for its non vegetarian food. The fish was perfectly cooked, soft and tasted great with their pulav, chicken was tender and flavorful, loved the rose and almond based gravy. Suya mushroom did not impress so much, it was a little chewey for us. In the "departures", we ordered bitter chocolate and blueberry fromage, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Loved the minty, gooey, bitter sweet chocolate dessert. To Whom It May Concern at Peregrine, I am writing to demand an immediate explanation for the abysmal experience I had at your so-called fine dining establishment. For a restaurant charging $50 per dish, I expected nothing short of excellence--and instead, I was met with utter neglect. First, the manager reeked of cigarette smoke, which is wholly unacceptable in a venue of this price. Second, I was given a dirty cup--what you called lipstick, but it was clearly unwashed. Third, my espresso martini tasted like gin--an impossibility unless the glass was never cleaned. Fourth, the halibut was inedible, containing sharp shell fragments from the mussels--something that should never be there. Finally, the seared tuna came out completely cold, and was never received It was honestly embarrassing bringing out-of-town guests to Peregrine. What should have been a great experience turned into a situation where we were apologizing more than enjoying the meal. From the moment we sat down, things felt off--service was disorganized, and the overall atmosphere didn't match the expectations we had set. The food only made things worse. Dishes came out poorly executed and lacked the quality you'd expect when hosting visitors you want to impress. What stood out most was how uncomfortable it felt to have guests witnessing it all. Instead of showcasing a great local spot, it ended up reflecting poorly on us as hosts. For a place we trusted, it was a major letdown. Definitely not somewhere I'd bring visitors again. But worst of all, the service was a complete failure--the waitress barely acknowledged us, which is inexcusable for a restaurant charging $100 per person. A True Gem--Already Shining Bright I visited Peregrine for the first time on my birthday. What surprised me most? The fact that they've only been open for 16 days. You would never guess it based on the level of service, attention to detail, and overall excellence they're already delivering. The concept is farm-to-table, and you can absolutely taste the difference. Every ingredient was incredibly fresh and thoughtfully sourced, with an unwavering commitment to quality. The kitchen is doing a phenomenal job cause the flavors are perfectly balanced, the sauces are absolutely divine, and the dishes are creative without being overdone. There's real inspiration behind the menu, and it shows in every bite. What truly sets Peregrine apart, though, is the service. It's rare to feel this seen and cared for at a restaurant, especially one that's so new. The team made sure my birthday dinner felt personal and memorable. It reminded me of the kind of high-caliber experience we've had in cities like Miami--Peregrine is absolutely playing in that league. All in all, this was a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. I'll definitely be back. I don't understand the low reviews. This restaurant was SPECTACULAR! I eat out over 500 meals a year with my job and this place was brilliant. It was very different from my expectations as on social media people were calling it a Bengali restaurant - and it's not. So maybe people just weren't open minded about it so they couldn't appreciate it for what it was? It's definitely global fusion...and it's just that the chef is Bengali and pulls some flavor profiles/inspiration from that cuisine. The name should've given that away though. It's called Peregrine, which is called a wandering falcon, because it travels all over the world, +15k miles during migration. Regardless though, the presentation is beautiful. It's refined, yet approachable. The chef's use of flavors make the food light, yet still rich, and layered. Each bite is a journey. The ambiance is bright and airy, and it gets a little moodier as it gets dark. It very much feels like something from South Africa. The cocktails were also wonderful, as was service...every detail was essentially perfect - which is SO impressive given how recently it opened! We tried a new tuna dish that the chef is working on for the menu refresh, which was tuna with cucumber, mint, and a charred scallion sauce that was so bright and refreshing, yet savory. The we had the gem lettuce with a pistachio cream, that the chef told us to eat with our hands like a taco. Topped with cheese and pickled onions, it was creamy, yet nutty, yet bright, with the perfect crunch! I would happily eat this every day. The lamb Shish kebab was juicy and was perfect with the yogurt sauce it was served with. The beef tartare was delicious, made with 30 day dry aged beef, crispy leeks, black lime. Served with a nigella seed lavash. Not creamy like a traditional tartare, but very delicious interpretation. We tried a new rice dish, being made with Carolina gold rice that was to die for! The whole fish was so tender, and loaded with flavor. The spring veggies were tender crisp, with a multitude of flavors - so much dimension to it. And then the desserts were wonderful. I loved them because they weren't overly sweet. Yes there was sweetness, but not in the sense of an American cookie or created cake. The ambiance is cute. I liked that the chairs had higher backs for a more comfortable sit. Our waitress was divine. Excellent table side manner and very personable. I may come back just to poach her! lol We ordered the bread and butter as an app....AVOID!! It was a strange, chewy roti like concoction with cinnamon and sugar. Huh? I was expecting a basket of floral earthiness with flights of butter...I needed to peter my expectations. The presentation was nice but the texture and flavors were an odd pairing. For dinner we ordered the chicken (the sauce is to die for), wagyu and lamb (top tier) No complaints there. And those cherries on my Shirley temple....oh my. It was the end of dinner that was jarring. A young woman came to refill our water and spilled some on my vintage purse. What??!! No apology no acknowledgment...after announcing that she did. Ciera with Offline - I love when a restaurant completely blows my expectations and Peregrine did just that. Every staff member was exceptionally hospitable, but in a way that felt genuine and positive, not forced or scripted. You could tell the team truly enjoys what they do and that it's a healthy, supportive environment. I was incredibly impressed by the recommended dishes the Bengali Wedding Chicken and the Rainbow Trout. For a restaurant described as "American-style," the creative combinations of flavors, herbs, and spices reveal a deep cultural understanding and a thoughtfully curated culinary experience by the chef. The Bengali Wedding Chicken was outstanding. I appreciated that they kept the feet attached, honoring the full process and tradition behind the dish. Having grown up in the country, I saw that as a mark of authenticity and respect. The chicken itself was perfectly juicy, the sauce rich and flavorful, and the presentation stunning. The Rainbow Trout was equally remarkable--especially with the micro heirloom tomatoes on top. Every bite revealed new layers of flavor and texture. My only small piece of constructive feedback would be that a small piece of bone seemed to remain near the floral garnish, possibly from the tailbone. It didn't take away from the experience, but worth noting for future attention to detail. For side dishes, I highly recommend the Pilaou, a fragrant rice dish with dried fruit, mint, and herbs that give it a transformative, almost transportive flavor. It's far beyond what you'd expect from a typical restaurant side. I also tried the Tallow Carrots with Yogurt Dip and Pumpkin Seeds, and it was something I'd never think to combine myself, but it worked beautifully. The yogurt dip was so good that I even tried it with the wedding chicken--it was an amazing match! The bar and cocktail area were equally impressive. The drinks were well-balanced, and I love that you can customize your own Old Fashioned. I didn't try that option this time, but I absolutely plan to on my next visit. Overall, Peregrine earns a 12 out of 10 from me. The food, atmosphere, and service are all top-tier. This restaurant isn't just part of the new growth in the exchange area...it's defining it. Peregrine brings an elevated yet soulful culinary energy that will put this area on the map. The operating partner, Patrick Shanahan, who is also a professional set designer has created a genuine masterpiece which will leave you in absolute awe. The menu from chef Saif Rehaman is a culmination of ideas, creativity and passion, it's not your usual menu items slapped together. The food is truly an authentic chef creation with an amazing gastronomical experience. The restaurant is brand new with a few minor bumps, as expected. If I could give 2.5 stars, I would. We dined on February 13th and were very excited to try the Valentine's pre-fixe menu. The food itself was very good, beautifully prepared and flavorful. If I were rating based on food alone, it would easily be 4 stars. However, at $150+ per person and with the James Beard semi-finalist distinction, we expected service to match that level. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. There were significant delays between courses, with nearly two hours passing to receive all three courses. Couples who were seated 15-20 minutes after us had already finished their first course before ours arrived. At first, we assumed it may have been an isolated delay, but the pacing continued throughout the evening. What was most disappointing was the lack of communication. There was no acknowledgment or apology from our server regarding the delays, and at times it felt difficult to get his attention. Eventually, a manager came over and kindly comped three glasses of wine, which we appreciated. However, the overall experience still felt misaligned with what we expected for this caliber of restaurant. We genuinely wanted to love this spot, and I hope this was simply an off night. The food shows clear talent in the kitchen, but for a special occasion experience at this price point, service and pacing matter just as much. At this time, I'm not sure we would return, but I do hope they refine the service to match the quality of the cuisine. read more

By far the best dinner we've had in Raleigh in a while. Chef Rahman pours his heart and soul into every dish, and he has a well trained team in the front and back of the house to deliver the full experience. Even though this is in the bottom of an office building, it's been tastefully decorated, and we really enjoyed sitting at the bar with a great view of the kitchen. The service and food were wonderful. My husband and I have concluded this is the best meal and service we have had in years. We frequent the best restaurants in Richmond,VA and occasionally throughout the south east. He surprised me with an overnight to Raleigh and this restaurant as the menu looked intriguing. We had the tuna, steak, and carrot appetizers they were delicious as were our mixed drinks. For dinner he had a steak in mole sauce and I had the wedding chicken. Both were phenomenal. For dessert I was surprised with little ice cream cakes and we ordered a dark chocolate dessert as well with espresso. The waiter brought me a card at the end of our meal signed by the staff (I regret accidentally leaving it on the table when we left) it was a nice touch that really shows how on point the service is at this restaurant. Okay this place is inside of the back of an office building so inconspicuous but wow it's beautiful inside. The service was great, Cory helped us navigate the menu and suggested things that he likes which we ended up loving the mushrooms he suggested, very hearty. This is the swankiest restaurant in the Triangle! The decor is inviting and very well done. The service was very attentive and impeccable. The food was absolutely amazing and cooked and seasoned to perfection! The serving sizes are big enough to share which is exactly what we did. We had a table of six and we all ordered enough dishes to share with each other. The chef came out and spoke with our table and explained how all his food is locally sourced as possible. I love that a high end restaurant such as this is getting their food from local farmers. I highly recommend this place and plan on returning! read more

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about, to be honest. The food was fine, not spectacular. The service was very slow, and though we had a reservation we had to wait more than 10 minutes for our table. The location feels a little weird - is this a sparsely populated office park? The decor inside is very good, but as with a lot of hip, fancy places these days, they're maximizing seating so the tables are too small for the plates. Music was a bit too loud. Lights were a bit too low. I probably won't be back. read more

From the moment you're seated, you're taken on a thoughtfully curated culinary journey, guided by a warm and gracious staff. This isn't your typical restaurant focused on a single cuisine. Instead, it's a beautifully executed fusion of diverse flavors, cultures, and traditions--all brought together in perfect harmony. Here's a few tips that the restaurant can make good use of, 1. If you have a bone-in whole fish on the menu, the least you can do is put a fish knife on the table for the guest who ordered it. 2. If your Halibut has a "Buffalo Butter" and "Cashew Korma" base, don't expect your guests to eat that with a fork but rather have a spoon available proactively before they have to ask for it! 3. Duck breast, start on a cold pan skin side down. High heat till the fat starts to render and then add herbs of your choice, keep basting constantly, wait till fat melts and sizzling and then flip ( you got a crispy skin), cook for a minute basting constantly and then remove from heat. Rest for 3 min and serve. Why am I teaching you how to cook duck? That's cause not even a duck maniac like me could swallow the rubbery undercooked duck that was literally a poke away from a loud QUACK! 4. Foie gras, well if you don't know how to sear a foie gras and get perfect caramelization... leave it off of your menu. 5. Being a Maître D' is not about wearing a fancy suit and walking around with a fake French attitude. it's about engaging your guests, specially the ones that chose your establishment to celebrate their special day. These are just a few of a truck load of "NO NO"s that this restaurant can actually fix. But, the fact that this restaurant is using "Bangladeshi" as it's tag line for advertising is outrageous since none of their dishes showcase the spices or techniques of the cuisine.
