My husband and I came here for brunch when we were first visiting Raleigh house-hunting. We decided to revisit for Mother's Day brunch this year. We showed up early with our 1.5 year old daughter and they were able to seat us immediately. The area felt spacious, although that could be due to the fact that it wasn't super packed inside. I ordered the short rib benedict, my husband got the chicken & waffle sandwich, and we ordered my daughter a side of the mac & cheese. What a delicious meal! The short rib was tender and flavorful, and sat on top of a biscuit (what's not to love here?!) - horseradish hollandaise was the perfect touch as the horseradish pairs nicely with the beef. The chicken & waffle sandwich was the best guilty pleasure! Waffle crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, chicken breaded and fried with a nice crunch, and a nice hot honey syrup to go alongside -- wish this had a little more heat. To our surprise, the mac & cheese side was a highlight too! It's hard to get a good mac n cheese, but this had such a rich, white cheese, slight funk flavor - delicious. Got to check out a new spot (for me) today that had been on my list and wasn't disappointed. We had a large-ish party and the service was on point, meals came out in a timely manner and were able to pay and get in and out relatively quick. My French dip and tots were delicious and everyone else's meals looked fabulous as well. They give you large portions even at lunch and have great presentation. I didn't get a photo of the salads but they were beautiful. The menu is quite large with lots of yummy sounding options so I can't wait to go back. They have street parking along the sides with a 2hr max, pay at kiosk or on app. read more

The service here is easily a five, and for what it's meant to be--a neighborhood sports bar--the ambience is about a four. We came in today with reasonable expectations after finding the restaurant online and seeing mostly positive reviews. We ordered several items to share as a family: broccoli cheddar soup, a French dip sandwich with green beans, and poutine fries. Unfortunately, the broccoli cheddar soup was very bland and lacked seasoning. We had a few bites and ended up leaving the rest. The French dip was the standout of the meal. While the meat itself was a bit dry, dipping it in the au jus made it the most enjoyable and edible item we ordered. The poutine fries were disappointing. They were very basic and didn't resemble what I would expect from poutine--more like prepackaged frozen fries that had been deep-fried. We didn't finish them and left most behind, though we still paid for them. Our child wouldn't eat any of the food, so we ordered the fried ravioli appetizer, hoping it would be similar to versions we've had elsewhere. Sadly, that was another letdown. Although we were told there was no breading, the texture suggested otherwise. This was the one item we did send back. I wouldn't recommend this location for anyone with food allergies or sensitivities, as much of the food appears to be made from frozen or prepackaged items. That said, our server was absolutely wonderful--the highlight of the visit. She was kind, attentive, kept our drinks refilled, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Her sweet demeanor and constant smile were honestly the reason we didn't complain more at the time. While I wouldn't return for the food, I might consider stopping by again strictly for drinks during a sporting event. Otherwise, this just wasn't the dining experience we were hoping for. read more

This restaurant is located downtown so street parking or a parking structure will be required when dining here. There are several tables located inside. During our visit our server was not really attentive. I ordered the burger and fries. I was not a fan of the cheese sauce on the burger, the fries were not good, and the burger was ok. The waffle that my mom was given was burnt on some parts. She said that it did have good flavor and the chicken was seasoned well. My friend and I stopped by Parkside during the weekend for a late brunch. I ended up ordering the chicken and waffles, my favorite meal of all time. I will say that it did not disappoint! The chicken was moist and well-seasoned. I also loved that they used Belgian waffles, my favorite kind of waffle. The meal came with an additional side. I decided to go with the mac and cheese, which was a let down. It was okay...but honestly it wasn't needed. I was stuffed just with the chicken and waffles. My friend and I also tried out a few cocktails on their menu. I ordered the Pain Killer - a classic- and my friend got the Watermelon Redbull margarita. UPDATE: I've had a chance to visit Parkside Restaurant in DTR a couple of times since my initial review and I have found a better experience, especially my most recent time there catching up with an old friend over Sunday brunch. It was pretty easy to grab a table at 11am even though we had no reservation, as the seating area had plenty of options. I did notice that they filled up rather quickly after we were seated and we came at just the right time. We were seated at one of the booths next to the large windows. After grabbing a cuppa and perusing the brunch menu, I went with their Biscuit & Chorizo Gravy selection but asking to substitute scrambled for sunny eggs which they gladly did. I liked my brunch meal, it was great with the different textures and the delicious gravy (very flavorful but not too spicy which is good for me) mingled nicely with the biscuit and the eggs. I was very satisfied once completing this meal and I think I have found my bunch menu selection I'll stick with on future visits. Our server was very pleasant and attentive from start to finish. With all the positives on this most recent visit, I am here to kick them up a star and I am looking forward to more meals here in the future. read more

First of all - get the prime rib. Parkside is such a great restaurant. I would highly recommend snagging a reservation, since the restaurant is pretty popular and they only have so much space, so it's helpful to have. I've been here for both brunch and dinner and have loved both. They have fantastic spicy bloody marys and their grits are SO GOOD. But that prime rib... I was absolutely blown away. Family brought me here for Mother's Day and enjoyed this cute corner diner. The service was not great - our coffee was not refilled until after we received our food. Food was all good. Im 6'3" and was very uncomfortable the entire time I was there due to this. The food is some of the worst I've had. Asked for my burger to be Medium, it comes out well done. It was beyond dry, egg was well done and the hash brown was old and greasy. The waffle was not mixed well at all and could taste the flour and it was crunchy, not in a good way. Service was slow, took over 5 mins after we got our food to even get our drinks refilled which were empty for a good while. Personally, we wont be back. We made a brunch reservation at Parkside so we could ensure we had a hearty meal before heading to the first day of Dreamville ... and a hearty meal was exactly what we got (& even came back the next day for another meal bc this first one was so dang good). The restaurant was lively, buzzing and busy and service was A+ despite this. We ordered the mimosa flight because what's brunch without mimosas and we went with the Pimento Cheese with Fried Saltine Crackers and the Fried Pickle Spears since these were two things we've never had ... OOOOOOMMMMGGGGG OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! The crackers left us speechless because they by themselves are a bite your mouth thanks you for and with the pimento cheese it's an all around party! The pickles were super crunchy and fried to perfection and we couldn't stop eating them. I had the fried pork chop and cheddar waffle with a side of cheese grits for my entree and that pork chop was fried to PERFECTION! They also add on diced peaches and a side of a peach puree which at first I was like I don't know about this ... but clearly Parkside did because the combo was MAGICAL! Oh and the cheese grits ... probably the best I've ever had! Our meal left us stuffed but we literally needed more which is why we came back the very next day lol! We haven't been back in about 6 mo but we dined 3 people recently and the food was smaller portions (same stuff we usually get), lower quality (overcooked or like the recipe might have changed), and the place in general just seemed less clean esp the bathrooms. I recently returned to Parkside and realize it is time to update my review. They now offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. It is a busy place so make sure to make your reservations. Service was wonderful as the waitress was patient while we chatted for a bit and we weren't rushed. Another change is that they switched to taking cards at the table so your credit card is never out of your sight. It made things faster too. I went with the short rib benedict as I love my eggs benedict and trying different spins on them. This one had the runny yolks that I prefer and the boneless short rib went well with the biscuit. After wanting to check Parkside out for a while, I finally went before a sold-out weeknight show at Red Hat Amphitheater. Parkside was slammed with fellow show goers, no doubt. But they handled the crowd with aplomb and didn't make us feel like they were in a rush. Really solid first experience, I'll be back again. They sat us 15 mins after my reservation, but they were communicative and attentive as they could be. Our beers and fried pickles came out fast and tasted great. I loved my French dip, fries, and homemade ranch for the main event. It was hard to choose from the menu, it was right up my alley. As someone with dietary restrictions I had a hard time finding a menu item I could have. Almost every item contains red meat, gluten/bread, and dairy, so if you have food allergies/intolerances this might not be the best place to go. I ordered the chef salad (without cheese & ham) and essentially paid $16 for a plate of lettuce and turkey. The salad was supposed to come with avocado but it didn't and there was only one small cherry tomato. Located on the corner of Martin St and Dawson St, this restaurant has a casual vibe with plenty food options, a full bar, and friendly wait staff. Their restaurant is perfect for large parties and they also have outside seating available. I recommend making a reservation as they can get pretty busy due to their location in downtown Raleigh. Here's what we ordered: -Peach habanero and bbq wings cooked to perfection with a slight crunch. The peach habernero sauce wasn't too bad and I usually do not like spicy food. -The green beans were seasoned really well and I was impressed -The grilled chicken sandwich was huge and flavorful -The fries had the perfect crispiness and temp, decent portion -We paired our meals with the Peach Mason drink: handmade vodka, dekrupper peach schnapps, Wycliffe champagne & orange juice; a tad strong but too delicious not to try I heard they have an amazing brunch as well so I will be back to try that. I recommend making a reservation on opentable so that you don't have that long of a wait.
