This is a one stop shop, brewery, flower shop, library/book store and dim sum restaurant! The food. Really really good dim sum. I stopped in just a they were opening on a Friday and thank goodness I showed up when I did, this place gets packed quick and you should book a reservation to be on the safe side. I was most excited about the duck egg rolls but ended up being my least favorite not because they were slightly on the dry side. Flavor was good, and the hoisin honey sauce really helped! The seafood dumplings were second best, stuffed full. The soup based was amazing and it also came with some bread for dipping in the leftover sauce. The pork and chive shumai were my favorite! A little bit bigger than bit sized but worth the mouth full! Absolutely would recommend. I'll 100% be back for more food. The bar side looked to be more casual, the dinning room was full of high tea attire so I did feel a little under dressed, thought it would be slightly more casual. They have the cutest library with free books to read but only while you dine in. The flower and book shop are in the middle of the space. We came here on a Saturday morning right when they opened. We didn't have a reservation, but as we enjoyed our meal it started to fill up fast even though there is plenty of seating, so make a reservation. The restaurant is expansive with plenty of seating and it has a bar. We didn't try any of their brewed items, but plan to when we return. I loved that the restaurant had books and bookshelves. It kind of felt like a book store that serves amazing food. We started with the pork and chive shumai and the chicken dumplings. Both were excellent. I probably favored the shumai more. Both were full of flavor, hot, and well-prepared. They have so many dumpling options, so I'll be back to try more next time. The general Tso chicken with steamed rice was so good. The chicken was fried perfectly. The sauce was so tasty and I'm glad they coated the chicken in it really well. There was plenty of extra sauce as well so I coated my rice in it too. We got the eggplant, steak with longerhorn peppers, and the general tsos chicken. The steak was tender and well seasoned, I highly recommend! Eggplant was delicious, a little sweeter than anticipated. I did not like the general Tso's, it was not authentic at all, despite the large portion. Very good service. Brewery Bhavana was a very cool spot - food, drinks, and beer, but you can also buy books and flowers! They have dim sum that can easily be made vegetarian friendly, which is usually so hard to find. We got the Edamame Ginger Dumplings, Sichuan Cucumber Salad, General Tso's Tofu, and Eggplant Pagoda (with added tofu). They also served some delicious chili oil with it. Everything was tasty. My favorite was the Eggplant Pagoda and I was glad our waitress had recommended adding tofu to it to make it more of an entree! The dishes were all on the pricey side - think around $16 for an appetizer and $20-30 for an entree, so if you want to get a bunch of plates to share, it can definitely add up. read more

Been wanting to visit this place for a long time given its sterling reputation, and it was everything I was hoping it would be. Everything we had was delicious, service was impeccable, the look of the restaurant is big and inviting, and it just had that buzz about it while you're there that the best restaurants do. We went for lunch after an early morning event, knowing it was close by, I wasn't gonna give away my shot at delicious dim sum. I was fortunate and found street parking, but I could see that being challenging for others in such a popular area (and only getting more so). Since we got there early we were seated right away, but reservations would definitely be recommended for dinner or large groups. Everything on the menu sounded wonderful, so we decided to do a few things family style. We started off with the seafood dumplings and sichuan cucumber salad, and for mains we got the longhorn pepper beef and also an order of chicken lo mein... because noods. The dumplings had a wonderful texture, slightly doughy, superb mouth feel. The contents were an absolute flavor rush once you bit down especially for a seafood lover. I could have consumed order after order of these. The cucumber salad was a nice vinegary, little spicy, flavor change up to these hearty pockets. The beef was rich, tender, and flavorful and made you want to sop up all the sauce with the provided rice. The peppers gave a little spicy and a textural element that was welcome. Finally, the lo mein was a nice big portion, flavorful noodles, tender chicken, exactly what we would expect. Can't wait to come back here for more on a future trip. read more

Brewery Bhavana is an amazing vibe! It's probably top 5 in one of the more unique interiors I've experienced. Reservations are highly recommended, especially if you're planning to visit on the weekend. There's also a lot of street parking in proximity. We ordered the crab fried rice, the seafood dumplings, and shrimp lo mein. The crab fried rice we sadly were not fans of. It wasn't really giving any crab flavor. However, everything else was perfection. Hands down, my favorite dish was the seafood dumplings. The perfect flavor and perfect pairing of Chinese doughnuts. They also have a great variety of beer selection. The only thing that's keeping me from a 5-star rating is the price of the dishes relative to the portion size. I was craving Asian food for my birthday and I had Brewery Bhavana on my list of places to try. It did not disappoint. The ambiance is minimalist and modern, but still welcoming and not sterile. Love the modern lighting and lots of greenery. We enjoyed seafood dumplings in mushroom sauce with savory doughnuts for dipping. Delish! The Peking duck eggrolls were also very tasty. We loved the General Tso's chicken. So classic, but perfectly seasoned. The sliced beef with peppers were on fire. Spicy, but flavorful. The beer list is extensive...a few unique flavors, that we enjoyed. The final touch of the evening was a vanilla birthday cupcake. They have a small, but well thought out menu, extensive brew list, and nice ambiance. All of this makes for an enjoyable dining experience for a special occasion. The place looks slightly industrial and is dimly lit.. get a reservation because the place was packed friday night.Every single table was filled. Truly, you can't keep my away from Brewery Bhavana. In my most recent visit with a colleague, we came for lunch on a Friday. If you can swing it, this is probably the most empty you will ever find this place. For our dim sum, we got Sizchuan cucumber salad - my faves - crab wontons, and seafood dumplings. This was the first time I have have the seafood dumplings and WOW - they are out of this world. Not only are the dumplings good, the sauce they are in is equally delicious. Our server brought us these long sticks of fried bread to dip into the sauce, and I will genuinely never stop thinking about how good that was. For our entrees, we split beef with Longhorn peppers and chicken lo mein noodles. This is probably my new favorite entree combo. Service was quick and the food blew me away per usual. read more

Brewery Bhavana has absolutely gorgeous interior and some of the best moody lighting for an intimate meal which I enjoyed with my very best friend on my last night visiting Raleigh! Parking is pretty much street parking only so be sure to factor that time into your reservation! Once inside, we were seated almost immediately and introduced to our server for the night. Although service was amazing and ambiance was there, I didn't have the very best dining experience for a couple of reasons: 1. A few things I tried ordering were sold out but it happened multiple times across cocktails and food that I would put the order in, server says great and leaves, then comes back to tell me they don't have it. This happened with 2 cocktails my friend tried ordering (one due to not having the syrup and the other for not having the garnish) and two of the apps I wanted to try (cabbage rolls and one more I can't recall). It's a bit frustrating when the kitchen or bar hasn't informed the server of what's 86'd to avoid that, but after 4 separate occasions of thinking we are getting something than finding out we aren't, it felt like I was taking a chance and settling for anything else. 2. A couple items were very room temp which was basically cold. The weather dropped to a freezing point that night which the restaurant cannot control so I believe it was cooler inside and that just caused the food to cool down very quickly once on the table. Now to the review of what we did get to try: Drinks: * Flame Blossom 8/10: very light in flavor, lends to more of a spritz vibe which was tasty & refreshing * Smoke & Nectar 10/10: loved this cocktail! Such a nice sweetness without tasting like syrup or pure fruit Food: * Lo Mein 10/10: my favorite bite of the night! Noodles had a great chew and this dish came out hot temp wise * Green Beans 10/10: very tasty & crispy! Love that char flavor you can taste * Chicken Dumplings 5/10: dough was a bit thick for me! Wish their dumpling sauce had more black vinegar or acidity to help with the dryness * Chicken Curry Bao 8/10: a punch of curry flavor that I wasn't expecting! Airy Bao bun! Wish it was hotter when we got it but they warmed up nicely the next day! * Crab Rangoon 10/10: so crispy & delicious! Nice sweetness but that crunch was everything * Cucumber Salad 7/10: love cucumber salad so this was good, hard to go wrong, but needs more seasoning/flavor for me. This place has been on my list of places to go in Raleigh for over 2 years. My coworker and I made it a point to add it to our must do's. It did not disappoint and we can completely see why the place was as busy as it was. The entire aesthetic of the place was so high end yet very comfortable. There were patrons in everything from Blue Jeans to T Shirts, to suits, it was a very mixed vibe. The cocktail list was so exciting and unique, which made it hard for us to decide what to drink. The food was great for sharing and gives you an opportunity to try various dishes. I honestly do not think that you could go wrong with anything on the menu. We went for Peking duck on Christmas Eve as a family. Few things to note- not the best place for kids, the larger dishes are fairly small, and make a reservation to get in. The crab rangoons were made with real crab and super flavorful. Easily the best I've ever had. The salad was delicious, fresh and decent sized. Bao buns are amazing, only four per dish, Peking duck was not what I expected. I have been to places where a family could share it and it's more made for one person. It was delicious though. Location: Located in downtown Raleigh near the bus station, the Brewery Bhavana provides something for everyone. From beer, a bookstore, floral arrangements, and food. Small but busting with something for anyone to enjoy. Parking: There is no parking specific to the location, it's all based on public parking via the deck or parallel parking. This was a drawback for us, as you had to first figure out what was the location to park and then walk over - if you want to wear heels, make sure they are comfortable. Service: The staff was extremely helpful from the moment we walked in. We had a reservation, as soon as all of us were there - we were seated promptly. The server came over almost immediately to greet us and go over their menu. I really appreciated the way they labeled their food - specifically for those with diet restrictions. On top of asking you before ordering if there were any restrictions to allow them to guide you on what you can order to meet your needs. Ambiance: The location is small, but still comfortable. There is a lot of different types of seating - bar top, regular, etc. So, you don't feel like you are sitting on top of each other within the small space. Everything was nicely lit and clean. The only con was when we were seated, our specific area wasn't very well lit. Food: The food was absolutely amazing! We thought the amount of food and the quality of it matched the menu price. Now, one con the water - its tap and taste GROSS. I didn't see where bottle was offered. Might want to get a filter for the water for a better experience. As one will also think, this is the same water used for the tea and coffee? No thank you. The steak was tender with a little spice. The rice was soft. The bao buns were tender and packed full of flavor! Everything was just yummy. All at the perfect temp. No complaints about the food at all. We had such a lovely experience at Brewery Bhavana. We had reservations for early on a Tuesday evening. Although it was quiet when we arrived, it quickly became busy. Our waitress was on it and very helpful. Our group before each ordered an appetizer that we shared with one another. My favorite appetizer was the moon cake. We then each ordered a different main meal. I tried three of the four. The general tso my friend ordered was amazing. So was the crab fried rice. I absolutely loved my Sichuan fish-- which was my meal. It was perfectly spiced. Not in a way that blows out your palette , but delicious. The bathroom had cool wallpaper. In the middle of the restaurant towards the front, there is a space to purchase, branded items, some books, or flowers. Note that there isn't a private parking area for the restaurant, like many places downtown. We ended up walking and really enjoyed it. Would definitely recommend returning! read more

After enjoying their beers from the grocery store, it was time to go directly to the source. The space is cute and serves as bar, restaurant, and bookshop. There are many beers to choose from, and while they don't serve flights, they'll let you sample as many as you'd like before ordering a 10oz or 16oz. I enjoy lighter beers, and Petal and Sprout were close favorites for me. The Dig stout was also richly flavorful. We ordered the small dim sum dishes, and everything was delicious! 5 dishes provided good portions for 2 adults and a child. Let's start with the food. It is top notch dim sum and would definitely recommend if you are a fan. We had two types of bao buns as well as some moon cake and some fried rice. All were outstanding and being from Hawaii and having had quality dim sum I was impressed The service was also great. Our server Jib was super friendly and attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. The ambiance also was a very cool vibe with the books and beer wall and drapery throughout. Seems like a place for any type of occasion. The only reason this is 4 stars and not 5 would be for value of cost. Obviously this is downtown and the food was very good but the value for price seemed to have some disparity just based on portion sizes. The dim sum is close to $4 - $5 per piece and though good did make us question a bit based on size. I've been here a few times. The aesthetic is unmatched! Cozy, intimate, and elevated. The bookstore is very curated and displayed well for a more strolling-type of shopping. Flowers were a bit expensive, but added to the ambiance. The bar was exquisite and great for a stop-in drink. We really came for a dinner this time around. I ordered the matcha San drink. BEST MATCHA MARTINI IVE EVER HAD! Would order again if I can. As for the rest of the dim sum orders--I was super disappointed. My family is native to Hong Kong, so I may be biased but the flavors were totally off and did not taste fresh. This place could cut the price of everything on their menu by 50% and it would STILL be a bit higher than the quality. Caviar on Shumai? For real? Why? Made it super salty for no reason. The soup dumpling broth was salty and the meat filling lacked flavor. (Look up Chubby Dumpling Anaheim they have a Michelin star and it was our local spot) The tea was 10$ hahaha and it was just white tea. Every dish is 17$ at least for like 4-6 bites of food. Traditional dim sum is typically served 10am-3pm and is like 3-6$ per dish.. Tyler is so nice, our waiter gave us green beans on the house (even the waitstaff knew when I ordered that it would not be enough) he got a nice tip though. At first we were like oh hey how nice, then realized when the bill came that he was trying to make our experience more worth it. I would say this is probably 3.5/4 stars in Cary, NC. But coming from Southern California, I wouldn't come back. They need to price cut out the door for what you see, we paid 100$ with tip. Tough to come back. Their duck eggrolls were very good I'll give them that. But it's 2negg rolls for 18$ .... Maybe use less duck and fill more with rice/noodle and veg and charge half the price? I went to Brewery Bhavana on a holidy without reservations. The food makes the wait worth it. One tip is to get there early and put your name in for the bar. You can stand and have a drink. While the wait was longer, it did not bother me. I had the xiao long bao, eggplant pagoda, duck egg roll, and chicken zirozi. My favorite was teh xiao long bao (best I have ever had!) and eggplant pagoda. read more

He took his time giving different recommendations on the menu, he checked in on us and didn't make us feel rushed, and he even offered bag hooks to my friend and I! My friend ordered the general tso which she liked and I got the beef with longhorn peppers based on our waiter's recommendation and it was so good! My mind still can't comprehend why a brewery's food menu is made up of "dim sum." Now I'm all for fusion but this menu was not conceptualized well and it was extremely overpriced for what it was and the portion sizes. The more traditional Chinese dishes lacked the true herbs and spices. The most offensive dish was the Peking Duck. The menu has the description saying "in 700 years, this national treasure has hardly changed at all. On the 3 days it takes us to prepare our ducks, gentle care and low heat transform each one into a previous offering." Given this homage to the history, why was it not served in a traditional manner with the crepe/pancakes instead of the buns, and why was the duck not sliced into thin pieces? The duck also tasted like to was deep fried as the skin was super crispy and the meat was drive. Why did it include pieces with bones? If you're trying to sell a traditional dish, then do it properly. Most of the items on this menu are not "dim sum" dishes, so it should just be called small sharing plates or something. The nasi goreng fried rice and very few pieces of blue crab meat in it, nor did it taste like nasi gorent. $29 for basic fried rice. I'm still laughing/rolling my eyes and cabbage rolls on the dim sum menu. read more

Was looking for a Chinese American noodle or dim sum restaurant for Sunday night. David's is permanently closed, both Lulu Bang Bang and Five Star are closed on Sunday. My Son wanted a drink, so I decided to search Yelp for a restaurant with Chinese Food and a full bar. My search found Brewery Bhavana. Brewery Bhavana is a really incredible dining concept. It features Belgium beers that seem to pair perfectly with the starchiness and flavors of Chinese Dim Sum. Dim Sum is similar to Asian Tapas since you can order many Dim Sum plates and share. It is a perfect match. We ordered and split Pork Bao, Xiao Long Bao, and Chicken Curry Bao. Each plate had four dumplings. I ordered the Ginger Salad and we also ordered Lo Mein Noodles. All the Dim Sum and noodles were delicious. My Son had Festbier which seemed to be a perfect beer for our choices. We were enjoying the dinner so much that we decided to order desert. We both had coffee and Fried Sesame Bites and Ten Treasures Mooncakes--yum, yum and more yum! Our Server Quantin S was incredible--friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. He really made our experience great. The restaurant is organized very chic with filled book shelves, lounge areas and lots of tables. It is organized with a full bar with beer tabs on the left. A lounge and seating area in the center behind the host stand, and a full dining room on the right. Brewery Bhavana was my favorite meal on my visit to North Carolina!!! Delicious food where you can really feel the high quality with amazing flavors, and loved the vibe and ambiance in there too! The decor is beautifully set up, with all the lights on the bar area and the taps look so cool. The bookstore flower shop hybrid is such a unique look but it works perfectly! The interior design is top notch. We went with the tropical smoothie mocktail which was beautifully refreshing. For appetizers we shared got the edamame ginger dumplings and the chicken curry bao - what a great way to start the evening! They were so good and set the bar high for the rest of the meal! We got the spicy chicken and the noodles for mains. I give 5 stars to literally everything, so freaking delicious!!! We ended with the chocolate turtle cake which was just divine and so tasty. Service was incredible! Staff were so friendly and attentive and brought everything out right on time, as well as gave us suggestions since we were in between options! However, once I got a piece of chicken into my mouth, I instantly regretted ever being hesitant on ordering this! It was definitely my favorite dish of the night - chicken was so crunchy yet coated in a thick, sweet sauce. An addictive quality! The chinese broccoli was so fun - being the noob that I am, I was expecting American broccoli, so I was surprised when I saw these long, leaf-like things put on our table. I visited this brewery while in Raleigh for a work conference. My rep recommended it and I'm so glad she did. The vibes so good, I loved the books everywhere. The setting of this restaurant is so nice! It's a pretty open space with dim lights but a big sky light in the middle. I went in the early afternoon and it wasn't busy. Our server was nice as well. We had vegetable puffs that seemed like a twist on vegetable empanadas, crab rangoons, and a beef bowl with onions and pepper. The Crab rangoons were really good, I enjoyed the sauce that came with them. I was not a fan of the beef only because it was way spicier than I had expected so it was a bit difficult to finish for me. Flavor was good though. I was also not a fan of the vegetable puffs. They did have a decent flavor but I think they would be better enjoyed with a sauce to pair with it! I look forward to coming back and trying some other options on the menu. read more

I've been going to Bhavana ever since it opened. It's such a unique place! The vibes are warm and welcoming, while still maintaining an upscale atmosphere. All of the severs have been great and super helpful! My only issue is that I believe they're a little overpriced. However, this doesn't stop me from going! I just make it a special occasion. The food is absolutely delicious. Make sure you get the soup dumplings if they have them! read more

Brewery Bhavana is so good. The space itself is beautiful and has such a unique vibe, definitely a place you want to stay longer at. We ordered a bunch of food and everything hit. Crab rangoon, pork bao, ginger salad, General Tso's chicken and the Peking duck were all amazing. The General Tso's chicken stood out most, it was super flavorful and the portion was bigger than expected compared to some of their other apps. For dessert, we tried the chocolate caramel turtle cake, roasted banana cake, and the tropical coconut cake. The portions are pretty small, but honestly the flavors make up for it. The banana cake was our favorite by far!! Overall the food, service and the experience were all on point. Definitely a spot I go back to frequently and bring family to! read more

Crazy disappointed. Lived in Raleigh, visiting, and this is a meal I was looking forward to. I grabbed takeout, didnt tip (judge away!!!), and this is the portion of General Tso's I got. Why GT's? Because it's the best in the city! Crab fried rice with a single piece of crab in it. These 2 items for $60. I'm a little sad, but its all good. I wont be back. Absolutely incredible spot for Asian food and beers! I was not expecting this food to be as good as it was since there was a brewery component to it, but the dim sum was high quality and even felt a little more elevated. The restaurant also sold books and flowers, and it added to such a modern and beautiful environment! The lighting was bright as well. We were able to get seated very easily for lunch on a weekday. All the staff were very accommodating and thoughtful. The siu mai is a must! read more
