We stopped by on a lazy Mother's Day Sunday afternoon and shared a lager. I really love the open air and decor of this restaurant and bar. They have many great drink options. Also, such a cute surprise and a nice touch to be treated to a cake pop for Mother's Day!

This is a great spot, nice indoor/outdoor space and great for our large workgroup. We tried a medley of appetizers, smoked fish dip, biscuits, and burrata. Burrata was the highlight of the three. I ordered the grain bowl with fried chicken which was really great. Would recommend!

I stopped by on my road trip from NJ to FL, having had plans to spend the night in Raleigh. My main criteria for a place to go for dinner was proximity to my hotel and something unique to the area, followed suspiciously closely by fantastic, perhaps southern-focused food. Check and check. + Old Fashioned - in all honestly, one of the best ones I've ever had. I let the bartender do his thing since there were far more rye and bourbon choices than I had time to absorb, and the balance of what was put in my glass was A+. + Hazy IPA - always a beautiful sight and it was a great second act to my old fashioned. It was local and delicious. + Crispy Chicken Sandwich with side salad - generously sized, incredibly crispy, and exactly what I was craving. The place itself is huge (with a nice outdoor space as well) but since I was a solo traveler I found a nice spot at the bar just fine. There's plenty of other menu to look over and by the looks of the other reviews you won't be disappointed. Please do take the time to absorb the enormous selection of lovely brown liquids. It's in the name, so it's clear they know what they are doing. If I lived in the area I could see this being a weekend staple.

Fantastic restaurant- we absolutely love the drinks, they were able to make off menu drinks for us too (like a hot toddy). The food was delicious and the portions were huge, would definitely go back.

The atmosphere here is wonderful! The bar is huge and there is indoor and outdoor seating. We arrived for lunch and were seated quickly and our server brought water right away. The menu is very small along with daily specials. Since we would be eating dinner in 4 hours, we wanted something lighter, but the appetizers were not anything that appealed to us. We ended up splitting a chicken sandwich and fries. Food came out quickly and was hot!!! They even cut it in half for us and brought an extra plate. The chicken was good, but nothing special. Fries are fries. Overall, great atmosphere, but menu is too small for my senior food choices.

Atmosphere - Great! The restaurant has a fun, casual feel. The inside is huge with tall ceilings and a very large bar. There must be 50 tables or more inside and a couple dozen on an outdoor patio area with umbrellas. Service - Very Good. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food - Disappointing. I ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich that came with French Fries. The fries were good, but the sandwich was dry, thin and overly breaded. Overall Value - Below Average.

Had such a great time at WK - and it lived up to the hype! My husband and I sat outside on a beautifully mild Labor day and enjoyed a few drinks (omg the Downeast cider was amazing!) and also the Ashe Co. burger as well as the shrimp and grits. The burger was very good, and the shrimp and grits were great to try as they're a bit different being topped with a tomato-based shrimp sauce. Definitely want to come back!

I wish I could give this 10 stars! We've lived in Raleigh for about a year now and only visited once before making the move. While here visiting we were looking for a unique experience to end our trip. Per usual, I took to Yelp for some recommendations and Whiskey Kitchen's reviews caught my attention. On our first visit the weather was a cool early summer evening so we sat on the patio. We asked our server for her recommendations and she suggested the lamb burger or the fried chicken sandwich so we got both. I got the lamb burger was out of this world, it is now what I get every time we go and we go often! My husband got the fried chicken sandwich it is was ok, not bad I just think the lamb burger outshined it. We both got the Flores de Jalisco cocktail which is sooo yummy! This has become our favorite restaurant! There is not a bad seat in the house, we've sat at the bar, outside, in the dinning area and in the little enclave next to the hostess station. The space is filled with gorgeous murals from local artist, the service is ALWAYS stellar and well the lamb burger speaks for itself. The Anejo Old Fashion has become my new favorite drink although the Flores de Jalisco is a perfect summer cocktail. I'd also recommend the hummus for a light appetizer. Cheers!

My friend and I decided to stop by Whiskey Kitchen for a late-night dinner after taking a rug-making class nearby. Unfortunately, the food was a miss for me. I ordered the fried chicken burger with fries. The fries were fresh and well-seasoned but the chicken burger was burnt, dry, and lacked any taste (probably because it was burnt). Cocktails were tasty tho. Our waiter was decent although she looked to be covering a large area. Inside decor - it was very pretty inside. I loved that the kitchen is visible and you can see what's happening in the kitchen. They also have a patio with plenty of seating options. Overall, I think this could be a good place to hangout with friends and grab drinks as they do have a well-stocked bar.

A staple for me and late night cravings before heading home for the evening. I had the CBD Kaya Huckleberry a refreshing nightcap for a good nights sleep. I do feel that this one kept me up even later instead of putting me asleep as the bartender suggested. I enjoyed a chicken sandwich with collards and the cauliflower appetizer. I got the pecan pie to go. Everything was delicious. Never any complaints here. The service was impeccable for my dining experience at the bar. The restaurant was clean and well lit.

I enjoyed eating here twice while visiting downtown Raleigh and absolutely cannot speak highly enough of the atmosphere at Whiskey Kitchen. It really adds to the meal and the gathering. I dined here once inside and once outside, and both were good experiences. Some of the dishes were a little salty, but I would still recommend just about anything here. Service was good both times, though I felt the inside service was even better, and that was with a much larger group of two combined tables. Outside was just three of us. One night I enjoyed the Pork BBQ Sandwich ($17) with the house BBQ sauce, creamy coleslaw, and a brioche bun. I had fries as the side. The other night I had the Lo-Fi Beets Salad ($14) with local greens, NC goat cheese, figs, radish, carraway, candied orange peel, toasted pecans, and a maple beet vinaigrette. I added a Crispy Chicken Breast ($7), which absolutely made the salad. Some of the sides to mention that I would recommend are: Crispy Broccoli Chef's Board Fried Brussels Roasted Cauliflower The Lo-Fi Beet Salad w/Crispy Chicken and the Crispy Broccoli are my absolute favorites.

I stumbled upon this place while looking for somewhere to have dinner. The ambiance is nice as well as the staff. I sat at the bar and was taken care of by attentive staff members. I had the shrimp and grits which was a bit salty, the dish has bacon in it. Nonetheless it was a good portion and presentation. I also had a French 75 cocktail and it was tasty and strong. Overall I enjoyed the experience.

Server made 5 trips to our table and never once filled my sweet tea. We kept having to wave him down for everything. I eventually got a refill after my friend beat me to it and asked for me. He refilled all of their sprites, teas and waters, while I sat a while not trying to be rude waiting for a sweet tea. Which I understand that I could've asked, but they didn't have to so why would I have to? Also, was charged an additional $10, but I'm hoping it was just a charge to use card? I debated making a review, but I realized I'm still a bit upset. I ordered the steak medium rare and it was great, but the fig glaze lacked flavor. The asparagus was phenomenal for an asparagus hater such as myself. The restaurant was beautiful as well.

Do they allow smoking outside (cigar in particular)?

As of 5-Sep-25 (just called) they do NOT.

    Are dogs allowed?

    Yes on the patio!!!

    Do they have gluten-free options?

Yes, and a couple vegan options too!

    Are reservations required?

If you want to sit inside. If outside walk ups are available but I'd make a reservation because it's a popular spot and hard to get a table.

This place was absolutely amazing. All I can say is, we made a lot of happy noises while eating,…read moreand there were plenty of "oh my God" moments at the table. From the staff to the manager to the food, everything was on point. The food truly speaks for itself. They serve small plates, which we love because it gives you the chance to try different things and experience a variety of flavors. We started with the fried pork belly on tostones. It was perfectly seasoned, topped with avocado, and every bite just melted in your mouth. Next, we had the tamarind sticky ribs with a tamarind mango barbecue sauce. This was a perfect example of how simplicity can create complex flavors. The ribs were cooked just right -- not completely falling off the bone, but tender enough that when you bit into them, the meat pulled apart so easily. They were juicy, full of flavor, and had just the right touch of spice from the chili flakes. Then we moved on to the mini arepas, and oh my God. They had slow-cooked pork, guava barbecue sauce, and fried papas on top. The arepa itself was crispy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside. The savory pork paired with the sweetness of the guava barbecue sauce was incredible, and the crunch from the fried papas took it to another level. Now, I have a bit of a sweet tooth, but my wife does not. I wanted dessert, and we were leaning toward the tres leches, but our waitress highly recommended the bread pudding. I am not usually a fan of bread pudding at all, but her recommendations had been on point all night, so I decided to trust her. I am so glad we did. They take a Mexican bolillo, soak it overnight in tres leches, then pan-sear it to create this crispy caramelized outside while keeping the inside warm, soft, and sweet. It is topped with crema and toasted coconut, then they pour warm guava syrup over it and serve it with a scoop of coconut sorbet. The layers of flavor in that dessert were unreal. Honestly, it may have been the best dessert we have ever had. And remember, my wife is not big on sweets -- she usually only takes one bite of dessert, but this time she tried to eat over half of it. Lol. I highly recommend this place. The food, the service, the drinks, and the atmosphere were all amazing. And after dinner, you can even head upstairs to work off the food with salsa lessons and a dance club. This is definitely a spot worth checking out! Me alegra muchísimo haberlo hecho. Jajaja.

The rice is black and inky and potent and extraordinary, but it overwhelmed the fish completely. Still greatful I got to experience it, but I would pair it with something more gamy like lamb or goat.
