Panzanella was awesome. Ingredients tasted fresh and with the crispy chicken added it was a huge portion of food. Tons of obscure allocated bourbon and the prices were relativeky reasonable

Whiskey Kitchen was a great experience all around. Starting with friendly service and an awesome espresso martini, I had a lamb burger per the bartenders recommendation and it did not disappoint. I didn't dive into the whiskey collection but given the quality of the drinks and meal, I'll be back for a second run.

The ambience with everything. Perfect date scene. The lounging area with all of the fiddle leaf figs was a vibe. The food was savory and lived up to the menu description. The Lamb burger was juicy and the trout was bold! I'd love to try the smoked catfish dip next time.

The chorizo frittata was on the smaller side but very delicious. Not sure it was worth the price tho! The tomatoes were tasty as well. Service was good for our large group, and the ambiance is casual.

We stopped by on a lazy Mother's Day Sunday afternoon and shared a lager. I really love the open air and decor of this restaurant and bar. They have many great drink options. Also, such a cute surprise and a nice touch to be treated to a cake pop for Mother's Day!

I stopped by on my road trip from NJ to FL, having had plans to spend the night in Raleigh. My main criteria for a place to go for dinner was proximity to my hotel and something unique to the area, followed suspiciously closely by fantastic, perhaps southern-focused food. Check and check. + Old Fashioned - in all honestly, one of the best ones I've ever had. I let the bartender do his thing since there were far more rye and bourbon choices than I had time to absorb, and the balance of what was put in my glass was A+. + Hazy IPA - always a beautiful sight and it was a great second act to my old fashioned. It was local and delicious. + Crispy Chicken Sandwich with side salad - generously sized, incredibly crispy, and exactly what I was craving. The place itself is huge (with a nice outdoor space as well) but since I was a solo traveler I found a nice spot at the bar just fine. There's plenty of other menu to look over and by the looks of the other reviews you won't be disappointed. Please do take the time to absorb the enormous selection of lovely brown liquids. It's in the name, so it's clear they know what they are doing. If I lived in the area I could see this being a weekend staple.

    Delicious, a must order!

Wow! I said I'd come back but I didn't realize it had been 8 years! My husband Dan H and I had a great lunch with some friends today. We all shared an order of fries for the table, which were amazing. Then I got the grain bowl with shrimp, and everything was perfectly prepared and delicious. My husband enjoyed his biscuits and gravy with fried chicken- so tender and decedent. Our friends enjoyed their meal, too, and enjoyed the apple custard for dessert. The mocktails were also delicious- I loved one with hibiscus and ginger. So nice to have a bunch of mocktail options! The ambiance was just as great as it was 8 years ago- spacious and light. The server was great, and let us linger for a few hours without hovering. Hope to be back sooner than another 8 years from now!

The atmosphere here is wonderful! The bar is huge and there is indoor and outdoor seating. We arrived for lunch and were seated quickly and our server brought water right away. The menu is very small along with daily specials. Since we would be eating dinner in 4 hours, we wanted something lighter, but the appetizers were not anything that appealed to us. We ended up splitting a chicken sandwich and fries. Food came out quickly and was hot!!! They even cut it in half for us and brought an extra plate. The chicken was good, but nothing special. Fries are fries. Overall, great atmosphere, but menu is too small for my senior food choices.

This is a great spot, nice indoor/outdoor space and great for our large workgroup. We tried a medley of appetizers, smoked fish dip, biscuits, and burrata. Burrata was the highlight of the three. I ordered the grain bowl with fried chicken which was really great. Would recommend!

Atmosphere - Great! The restaurant has a fun, casual feel. The inside is huge with tall ceilings and a very large bar. There must be 50 tables or more inside and a couple dozen on an outdoor patio area with umbrellas. Service - Very Good. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Food - Disappointing. I ordered the Fried Chicken sandwich that came with French Fries. The fries were good, but the sandwich was dry, thin and overly breaded. Overall Value - Below Average.

Had such a great time at WK - and it lived up to the hype! My husband and I sat outside on a beautifully mild Labor day and enjoyed a few drinks (omg the Downeast cider was amazing!) and also the Ashe Co. burger as well as the shrimp and grits. The burger was very good, and the shrimp and grits were great to try as they're a bit different being topped with a tomato-based shrimp sauce. Definitely want to come back!

Fantastic restaurant- we absolutely love the drinks, they were able to make off menu drinks for us too (like a hot toddy). The food was delicious and the portions were huge, would definitely go back.

I wish I could give this 10 stars! We've lived in Raleigh for about a year now and only visited once before making the move. While here visiting we were looking for a unique experience to end our trip. Per usual, I took to Yelp for some recommendations and Whiskey Kitchen's reviews caught my attention. On our first visit the weather was a cool early summer evening so we sat on the patio. We asked our server for her recommendations and she suggested the lamb burger or the fried chicken sandwich so we got both. I got the lamb burger was out of this world, it is now what I get every time we go and we go often! My husband got the fried chicken sandwich it is was ok, not bad I just think the lamb burger outshined it. We both got the Flores de Jalisco cocktail which is sooo yummy! This has become our favorite restaurant! There is not a bad seat in the house, we've sat at the bar, outside, in the dinning area and in the little enclave next to the hostess station. The space is filled with gorgeous murals from local artist, the service is ALWAYS stellar and well the lamb burger speaks for itself. The Anejo Old Fashion has become my new favorite drink although the Flores de Jalisco is a perfect summer cocktail. I'd also recommend the hummus for a light appetizer. Cheers!

Ask the Community - Whiskey Kitchen

Do they allow smoking outside (cigar in particular)?

As of 5-Sep-25 (just called) they do NOT.

    Are dogs allowed?

    Yes on the patio!!!

    Do they have gluten-free options?

Yes, and a couple vegan options too!

    Are reservations required?

If you want to sit inside. If outside walk ups are available but I'd make a reservation because it's a popular spot and hard to get a table.

Being open later than most Raleigh bars makes Foundation one of the city's go-to late-night options, but that shouldn't overshadow what it really is........a great bar at any hour. The atmosphere, the drinks, and the people behind the bar make this a place worth seeking out whether it's your first stop of the evening or your last.

Service started off a little hands-off since we ordered at the bar, but picked up toward the end when staff came by to check in. Drinks were high quality without being overpriced, and the vibe is relaxed--not at all pretentious. You can definitely come casual. If we had more time, we would've stayed longer or come back for another round.

If it's a beautiful day, I'd definitely recommend sitting outside instead. Still, the inside has a cozy, laid-back feel that works well. Shoutout to Qua, who was both the hostess and our server. She was welcoming, attentive, and handled everything smoothly, even as a few more parties came in while she was the only one serving at the time. One thing I really appreciated was that she let us know upfront what items were out of stock before we even looked at the menu. That level of transparency is huge and makes the experience so much better. My son ordered a slider with fries from the kids' menu. It comes with just one slider, so I ordered a second, definitely the right call. He enjoyed it, and the fries were cooked well, just a little on the salty side for our taste (ketchup helped balance that out). I had the shrimp tacos. It's packed and perfect portion for lunch. The shrimp, pineapple slaw, and chipotle mayo was a nice mix. The restaurant was clean (including the bathrooms). The location is also a plus, super close to the Art Museum, which makes it a great stop before or after visiting.
