A great spot to visit before events at Carter Finley stadium! I arrived at 3 before a concert, and it was busy, but not overrun. With a party of 6, 2 had to stand at the table, but service was quick given the busy-ness. They were training new staff, so we had three servers during our two hours, which added to a bit of chaos, as the new staff member could not correctly identify the beers she handed to our table. Bru's Public House is our regular spot for Friday night football games at Cardinal Gibbons HS, where our son plays on the varsity team. Being that we both work, we don't often get to participate in the pre-game tailgate so, this place has become our regular spot for a pre-game dinner. They have re-worked the menu from when it was Honest Abe's a couple of years ago. The beer and cocktail list was expanded and I would classify this place as an upscale bar food type of venue. They added some nice and different appetizers and mixed in some healthier options in terms of salads on the menu. I have dined here twice recently and my wife maybe three times. In each visit the experience has been pleasant and the food really good. I like that they have expanded the beer list from years past. They offer the usual domestic - import list but they also now offer a nice craft beer menu from local and out of state producers. The cocktail menu has been upgraded as well. Hey, you might need a good drink (or two) prior to attending your son's football game. Also, the place has been lively the times we have visited. Definitely check Bru's out prior to attending an event at the PNC or Carter - Finley (which is not far away), if you need a quick bite to eat or a cocktail (or two). Alright, first review of 2023: This area is insane on a Carolina Hurricane's game day. On top of that, on this Saturday, it was a NC State Wolfpack basketball game on the same day. We're talking pizzas, burgers, chicken sandwiches, etc. Stuff I want when I'm drinking some of those Pomme-Pom drinks I hated saying out loud, haha. - Presentation. Take a look at my chicken sandwich. That looks like something straight out of a magazine. Awesome job with presentation. - Quantity of food. I'm big on this one. The worst feeling is leaving a restaurant not full. I very rarely leave food on my plate, but after eating the buffalo chicken pizza as an appetizer my (humongous) chicken sandwich defeated me. I very rarely get defeated. - Ambiance. When you walk in it's nice and dark with a nice modern touch. Cons: - I try to do at least one: My wife's grilled cheese had a smidge too much butter on it (for her preference). Total preference issue. Again, restaurants were packed because of everything going on Saturday. We found this place very last minute because most places had a 45 minute plus wait. We got some drinks and a buffalo chicken pizza as an appetizer (I'd recommend). I got a chicken sandwich (arguably the biggest chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life) with fries. I'd recommend it as well. My wife had the adult grilled cheese with tomato soup which she enjoyed pretty well. So yeah if you're in town for a Carolina Hurricane's game I'd recommend this place.
