Another week, another lunch catch-up with a friend -- this time at JD's Tavern. Full disclosure: this wasn't my first visit, but it had been a few years. Honestly, not sure why -- the place is welcoming, the vibe is relaxed, and the staff is super friendly. I went with the Al Pastor Tacos, which were the day's special, and my friend opted for the classic grilled cheese with fries. Don't judge her -- sometimes you just need something fun, simple, and comforting, especially on a rainy day. The tacos were a solid win -- well-seasoned with a nice little kick. I asked for a side of guacamole, and not only was it tasty, but there was no upcharge, which was a pleasant surprise. My friend's grilled cheese looked delicious -- if it were mine, I'd have added a tomato slice in the middle (I know, controversial, but trust me -- try it). All in all, a great lunch and I'll definitely be back sooner rather than later.

My favorite weekday lunch spot! Lunch menu is the best deal in town, with lots of great choices under $10. Today's special was Buffalo chicken wrap with fries for $8.95 - that's cheaper than some fast food places and it's way better. I've enjoyed everything I've had from the lunch menu. My personal favorite is the lunch southwest chicken salad - it's amazing! If you're a beer person, they always have a $5 flight of rotating craft drafts, which is a steal! Service is always good and I enjoy warm days on the patio.

Awesome waitress, Nicole, and friendly greeter.

I had the Brussel Sprouts the first time and they were really good. Our second trip I'm having the Harvest Fruit and Nut salad.

Good food and service. The location was clean and well maintained. For a tavern to drinks were delicious and the appetizers were excellent. The entrees were okay - it's a tavern not fine dining. Our waitress was great with service and recommendations! Will be back to try other menu items.

I met a friend here for dinner. The location has a very casual vibe that reminds me of place to watch Sunday football. This place may be on my list during football season to watch the Philadelphia Eagles play. The location has a bar, booths and high top tables. The menu has an array of options to choose from. We ordered the fried pickles, sliders, wings and tots. I enjoyed everything but the sliders. They weren't cooked to my liking nor was I asked how I would like them cooked. The servers were friendly and attentive. I appreciate that she consistently checked on us to ensure we were enjoying our visit.

My favorite place for food and watching sports. Sports type ambiance and pub like. Servers are always good. You have to try JDs.

I wish it had two huge meatballs for all the linguine but it was a huge hit. I ordered the Philly cheese steak on a gluten free roll. The roll ended up being two pieces of bread and came out well after everyone else's food. The only side I could have was fruit but it was delicious. The Philly cheese steak had onions and peppers and was very tasty. The waitress was great but very busy. It was a nice atmosphere, very casual, for a quick lunch with two young kids (2 and 4) . We've made a lot of friends from the customer's a Ruckus. Monday evenings we almost always stop in for Music Bingo and dinner. Its always a good time.

It feels like an old school filling station with the gas can lights and the cars on the wall. I took a seat at the bar, I probably was the first customer on the Wednesday. They have around two dozen beers on draft. The bartender let me try a pineapple habanero beer, though the heat was a lot stronger than the sweet. I ordered the triple All American burger with three 1/4 pound patties, cheese, comeback sauce, shredded lettuce, tomato, pickle, and I added grilled onion instead of diced onion. It came on a potato roll, always a good choice. The flavor of the burger was really good, and the burger was super messy. It's one of those that you don't dare put down because it's hard to pick back up again. Really good, maybe I'd add jalapeños next time. For my side, I went with cole slaw. It was creamy, but thankfully, not overly thick and heavy. Maybe a touch more vinegar would have helped balance it out. The Arnold Palmer was served in a plastic cup, a little unusual. The bartender did a great job keeping my beverage cups from running on empty. I would return to try a different beer and go for a burger again or even one of their chicken sandwiches. I saw I can get a triple chicken too!

We went for the dueling piano event they host out in the outdoor area and that was the highlight of the experience. Would 100% come back just for that. Nostalgic songs played in the musicians' unique arrangement. Downside was the indoor and outdoor area were connected so lots of flies were circling around but that's the price you gotta pay for some good music I guess.

They are accommodating, attentive, and genuinely seem to care about the customer experience. The food is consistently good. I recently had a friend visiting who is gluten-free, and I was impressed by how many options Rudy's offered and how willing they were to accommodate special requests. It was a great reminder that they do a lot more than typical sports bar fare. Beyond the food, Rudy's does a great job supporting the community with kids' nights, trivia, and other events that bring people together. As someone who has lived in Apex for more than 10 years, I'd consider Rudy's a local staple at this point. That's why it's disappointing to see people criticize a locally owned establishment over things like a delayed takeout order or not being provided a brunch menu. The locals know why Rudy's has been successful for so long. If you're looking for great food, friendly service, and a place that genuinely feels like part of the community, Rudy's is always worth a visit.
