    Kale Caesar Salad add Salmon
    Jaime S.

We had dinner on a beautiful Sunday evening at Birdie's Barroom and Kitchen and we are so glad that we did! Rudolph was our amazing server. Birdie's is beautiful inside and outside. They have plenty of seating in the dining room and on the outside patio. There's also a green space with corn hole and swinging benches. It's a family friendly restaurant with romantic vibes as well inside. We started with cocktails and starters of Crispy Brussels and the Kale Cesar Salad (we added Salmon). The cocktails were made perfectly and so refreshing! The Kale Cesar was absolutely delicious, the salmon added on top was perfect! While enjoying every bite of our starters, we ordered our entrees. I had the Proper Burger, medium w/ a side of fries and the lemon aioli. I enjoyed every single bite of my meal. My daughter ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tacos which came with side of fries. The tacos were just okay. Overall we loved Birdie's from start to finish and will definitely be back. From the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we paid our bill, everything was great.

I recently had brunch at Birdie's Barroom and Kitchen. It is located in Downtown Raleigh on Fayetteville Street, so your parking options include street spaces and nearby lots or garages. The restaurant has a small cafe to your left as you enter for coffee and pastries. But the main restaurant is straight ahead, and you can dine inside or outside on the covered patio. There was a bar as well. I was asked where I wanted to sit, and then whether I wanted a low top or a high top. I even got to select my own table when we got to the dining area. The decor is very modern and contemporary, from the brass bar to the floor-to-ceiling windows to the marble flooring. But the atmosphere was welcoming and casual. It is a very busy place, so I highly recommend making reservations. My waitress was very friendly and gave me time to look over the menu. I started with a blackberry mojito. Then went with the classic Bennie and swapped the herb potatoes for fries. I enjoyed their version of the eggs Benedict and was happy with the runny yolks in the poached eggs. The fries were cold, though, so I am assuming they sat out while the Benedict was finishing preparation, or the dish sat in the kitchen before being brought out. I wouldn't order the fries again. I did get the Brookie for dessert, which was part chocolate chip cookie and brownie. It came out in a good-sized skillet, so the portion was large, I'd say enough for 4 people. So I took most of it to go and ate a bite here and there for a while. The restrooms could use more attention to cleaning and making sure they are stocked with toilet paper and such. The small details matter.

We came here on a Saturday right after seeing the Walk for Peace Monks at the capital. We started with the beef sliders. The beef sliders were really good and tasty. They were cooked to perfection and the caramelized onion jam added a sweet element to the savory burger. There are some things salt and pepper can't fix and the chicken penne pasta is one of them. The grilled chicken was great but the pasta sauce and the penne pasta wasn't seasoned. There was nothing special about the Alfredo sauce. It was bland, and tasteless. I think I could've gotten a jar of Ragú or Prego from Harris Teeter and that might've had more flavor. The salmon was cooked well. The quinoa was not seasoned, so it made the dish subpar as well, given that the quinoa is 2/3 of the dish.

Good food, drinks, and service. The apps were my favorite. The crispy Brussels sprouts and pull apart bread were so good. My white sangria and Thai peanut grilled chicken salad were just ok. The salad was huge portion though and I had enough leftovers for another meal. Next time I'd go for the grilled cheese & soup - my friend had that and it looked ridiculously cheesy and amazing!

I celebrated with someone for a birthday here. Dinner was amazing. Every single plate hit the spot. I especially loved the salmon, Brussel sprouts and deviled eggs. The cocktails were nicely made as well. Staff were attentive, polite and timely. Overall, the ambiance was hip and lively. It was a perfect Friday night dinner. The strawberry cake was the cherry on top. I'd go again.

Birdies decor and atmosphere is so lovely, I could live in there. We had brunch reservations and were seated right away. Our waitress was slightly rude, we chalked it up to maybe she's having bad morning. I ordered a birds of paradise drink and it was divine...one of the best cocktails I've had in a while and actually crave now. I also tried the lavender 75 cocktail but I guess gin is just not for me however the drink is very light and bubbly. For apps, we had the biscuits and harissa deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were underwhelming but still good, and the biscuits had a lovely flavor to them. For entree, I ordered shrimp and grits, which tasted good, but I never got our waitresses attention for a spoon and had already waited 55 minutes for the food. So eating it with a fork didn't allow me to get the spoonful of all the components like I wanted. I would definitely come back and look forward to it!

My husband and I were looking for a local place to spend our $100 credit through American Express Platinum's perks in using a Resy reservation. We loved this place located in the middle of downtown Raleigh! We arrived for a 5pm reservation on a weeknight. There's a large parking structure conveniently located directly across the street with parking validation provided by the restaurant! Not having to drive around looking for street parking is a huge plus! For appetizers, we ordered the deviled eggs, the pull-apart bread, and the Brussel sprouts. We decided that we could just have appetizers as our main meal. They were fantastic! I ordered the Roasted Turkey French Dip - OMG it was sooo good! The bread is soft, the melt-in-your-mouth turkey and the slightly sweet and tangy cranberry is something I will go back for! The French fries are amazing, too. I could only eat half my sandwich because I had filled up on appetizers! My husband ordered the Buttermilk-Brined Crispy Chicken sandwich. He said it was incredible. We each had a bite of each other's order and swore that ours was better! Haha! We also shared a bowl of the tomato soup because so many ppl raved about it. It definitely lived up to our high expectations! It has a swirl of pesto sauce in it that adds a great pop of unexpected flavor. The brunch menu looks spectacular. We will definitely be back! Fantastic servie

Came here for lunch with a friend. Seemed like there may have been some issues with service as we walked into a long line to even get to the hostess stand. Overall solid meal, although our food did take a while to come out. The pull apart bread and deviled eggs were great to start and ordered a salad as my main which was average at best.

Really enjoyed this restaurant I went to for a brunch date, the food was fresh and the fries were delicious. The mimosas were a little small for my taste but I had the a speciality coffee drink, which was served in a to go cup instead of a large mug, I hope they make that change to large mugs. I also ordered the hippie hash bowl and a side of potatoes I believe and it was very filling. The portions were a good size and the brunch food was flavorful. It was a clean look inside, the floor may be a little slick so just be careful about heels and the bar was long with lots of space for walk ups. I recommend making a reservation, the service was Very kind. There is a parking deck right across the street which you have to access on the other side for which they give validation. I'll be back. Great addition to Raleigh

At least on Saturdays, I recommend making reservations a few days ahead. Otherwise, the bar is first come, first serve. The wait staff was incredibly friendly. I had been really wanting to try the biscuits and when they came out they looked delicious but were undercooked. It took a few mins to get our servers attention and she was actually coming to us to inquire because the chef was displeased with how they looked in the kitchen. They brought us fresh ones and took the charge off the bill. The jam and sausage gravy that came with them were delicious. I did enjoy my breakfast sandwich but it was a lot of bread with the thick cut.

2 Appetizers 4 Drinks 2 Entrees plus an add on 1Dessert Loved the vibe and ambiance. Service was good. There were a few mistakes such as bacon came on our deviled eggs after we asked for no pork, then the server dropped one of the eggs on the table when sitting the plate down. Those mistakes were rectified. My beef stroganoff was good. Hubby has a salmon salad that was very fresh. I ordered a dessert to go because I was too full. I will say that the appetizers and drinks were the star of the show that I would return for.

I already thought Birdie's would be good based off pictures and videos I had seen but it actually surpassed my expectations when I came in. To start off- the restaurant is huge and beautiful. There's gorgeous bar seating, booth/table seating, and outdoor seating to choose from. It's a great spot for pictures as well. Parking is a little tricky- gotta get lucky with street parking or find a nearby lot since it is downtown. At the front of the restaurant there is a little cafe with desserts and coffee. I'm a sucker for a good coffee so my friend and I both ordered a strawberry matcha which your server will bring to your table or you can wait for. The matcha was GREAT and I would definitely try their other drinks based off that. My friend also got a slice of cake which she enjoyed. For lunch, we got the deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, and proper burger. The deviled eggs change flavors monthly I believe and they were very good. The shrimp and grits were a 10/10 and extremely flavorful. I normally like a smashburger and was hesitant to try the proper burger, but it was fantastic. Everything we ordered was so delicious and I would come back here for any occasion.

It's been an interesting journey--because while I absolutely respect the tradition, my palate has definitely evolved over the years toward lighter, more elevated, visually beautiful food. That said, sometimes you just have to lean in and experience the classics. Tupelo Honey had been on my list for a while, so during a recent work trip to Raleigh-Durham, I decided to check it off. The location is in a very nice, upscale area--one of those shopping districts where, if you see a Whole Foods nearby, you know the neighborhood is going to be polished, safe, and easy to navigate. Parking was simple in a lot across the street, and since I had a reservation, I was seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely and comfortable. For starters, I ordered the "biscuits for a cause," which is a nice touch knowing the proceeds support employee relief and development funds. They were warm and classic Southern biscuits--exactly what you'd expect. For my entrée, I went with the honey-dusted fried chicken (dark meat), a true Southern staple. It was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying, especially if you're in the mood for something hearty and traditional. I also tried a cocktail called "The Debutante," which was pleasant and refreshing, and finished the meal with the butter pecan cheesecake for dessert. Overall, the meal was good--solid, reliable Southern comfort food--but if I'm being completely honest, it wasn't particularly memorable for me. I was traveling for work and dining on a per diem, so it checked the box for a dependable dinner in a convenient location. As a larger regional chain, it feels a bit like a rite of passage when you're spending time in the Southeast--something you try once to understand the landscape. Bottom line: Tupelo Honey delivers classic Southern comfort food in a polished, accessible setting. Service was smooth, the patio was pleasant, and everything was executed well. For me personally, it was a good experience--but not one I'd necessarily go out of my way to repeat. Still, as I continue eating my way through the Carolinas and beyond, I'm glad I gave it a try.

Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.
