I love this place, and met friends for Sunday brunch. It's a popular spot, always busy on weekends, but we were able to make a reservation. I love that they have live music! The food was delicious and arrived quickly. The service was a little "off" this time, couldn't get our server's attention for coffee or water refills, had to ask repeatedly for coffee, then couldn't get their attention for condiments. Once our food was dropped off, no check in other than to bring the check. It's also frustrating that all parking is now paid, 24/7. At a time when everything is so expensive, this is just piling on. The City of Raleigh needs to get it together! I do appreciate that they have a parking guide online. I'll definitely be back, but this visit was not ideal. read more

We are in Raleigh visiting to work the tattoo convention this weekend. We arrived yesterday and of course the first thing we do is search for food options. We came across Irregardless. And omg! I'm so glad we did. They have been around since the 70s, and was the only vegan restaurant in Raleigh, at the time. Today they serve non vegan food as well. When we walked in, a guy was playing a string instrument of some sort. The place was dimly lit but very casual. Our waitre was very pleasant and knowledgeable. Ended up finding out he grew up in Charleston, SC. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered the "Not Chos" which is nachos with cashew cheese and chorizo topped with picked Jalapeño, onions, and pico degallo. I didn't get a picture of it because I was so excited to eat them since they had vegan cheese. As my entrée I had their Curry. It was fantastic. Jasmine rice topped with chicken, carrots, and eggplant. Gluten and dairy free for the win!! Corey had one of their burgers. Not only was it massive, it was very tasteful. And to top everything off, I got to have ice cream for dessert. It was made with lentil cream. It was the creamest "ice cream" I've had. Dropped in for brunch to catch up with some friends and was surprised to see how popular this spot is! We had made reservations so after letting the staff know we were here they quickly seated us. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time- even though the spot is fairly large and had a decent amount of large tables, this place looks to be very popular! I ordered a classic crab cake Benedict, my husband got the tofu scramble and both dishes were excellent. Unfortunately the beignets fell a little flat for me- they were coated in sugar rather than powdered sugar which ended up making them overly sweet. I'd like to try to come back here for dinner! I have wanted to go to this restaurant for years. I finally had the opportunity this past Sunday. We were welcomed to the restaurant ith warmth and smiles which was awesome. It is a very cozy and quaint restaurant which also offers lives music. Music was very good. I am pescatarian, and joining me for dinner was someone allergic specifically to cheese (so not dairy in general) and a vegetarian. We order the Spanakopita, Foccacia and Brussel sprouts as appetizer. All amazingly good. two of us shared the Fall salad which was also good but I forgot the picture. The vegetarian ordered the Eggplant Parmesan he said it was just okay and he was disappointed that it was not served with pasta, nor was that an option you could add. The no cheese guy order the burger with no cheese and said similiarly it was okay. I order the Fried Oyster Mushroom entree and it was SO AWFUL, I could not eat it. Oyster Mushrooms can absorb flavor if marinated properly and can easily mimic chicken among other things. I cook it often. First of all it was TOUGH and I needed a steak knife because I was sawing into this thing with my butter knife. secondly it was no flavor FULL STOP. I cook this at home and so if you marinate it AND THEN you fry it, it is tender and rivals fried chicken in taste and texture. This was not only missing on seasoning it didn't even have salt. Like eating tough fried cardboard. Later we all tasted it and wondered if it was some sort of mistake. Because it would be hard to believe that a skilled chef would serve this in a well known partially plant based restaurant. The risotto that the mushroom was sitting on was amazing. Knock it out the park on flavor and perfectly cooked which is why we couldn't understand how the mushroom was so bad. I did not send it back, but I did tell my server I didn't like it and why. When I told him, I had not taken but a bite or two. He did NOT offer me a refund so I just ordered the Salmon. The salmon was amazing. Super tender and the flavor was profile on point. I loved that it had the skin on it, which was crisped up just right and also seasoned. The Bok Choy cabbage tender. I loved it!!!!! We ordered the Beignets which were amazing and bourbon pecan pie. The pecan pie was not good. It had a weird taste to it, it was salty and I could not find the bourbon but maybe it was there ..somewhere. So the food was okay, and something items were really good, BUT I would never go back. It was not memorable or even tasty enough to warrant a second try. While my server was nice, he kept forgetting things. Forgot to put the salad order in, and then forgot the to go containers "three times" so we had to flag down another server to help us. I am glad to check the box on this one. Really wish the Triangle would offer more plant based restaurants or expanded menus with plant based options. Not just impossible burgers and not something just thrown together without any care for making the dish tender and have it taste really good. We arrived early but, the hostess and manager were very accommodating and seated us immediately. If that wasn't enough, we had the pleasure of being served by Kelly (Kells). She was amazing and very attentive to us as the establishment filled. My wife is hard core GF and the very knowledgeable Kelly made certain that she would not be affected with her meal choice. My dad and I came for dinner after having run a long distance that morning. We were starving and ready for a substantial meal, and the dishes we got hit the spot! I got the Morgan Street Chicken. The first time it came out, it was way too salty (which says a lot because I was low on salt from sweating so much that morning). The GM and our server, Thomas, were so gracious and got me a new plate quickly. It was perfectly salted the second time around and was just the balanced meal I needed. My dad really liked his bucattini, but felt like the sauce could've had a bit more acidity to it. The sauce is more butter and just a hint of white wine flavor. Came here recently for dinner with my wife and had a great time! The website has a pretty helpful map showing where parking is available near the restaurant. We ended up parking in a paid lot just because we were lazy and wanted to park right near the restaurant, but next time we'll definitely park in the free lot that's a bit further away :) We arrived early for dinner so there were plenty of tables available, thankfully. Our server did an excellent job throughout the meal, with great cocktail and food suggestions. We ended up ordering the guacamole as an appetizer, and it tasted very fresh! The chips were maybe a tad over-fried to me? But they were still good. For my entree, I got the salmon, while my wife got the chicken. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful! The salmon was cooked perfectly, and I really liked the mustard flavor on the chicken dish (I sampled my wife's). As we walked in, it was a nice inviting atmosphere. On a Tuesday at 5 pm, it was empty except for one other table, though it will gradually fill in over the next hour. There is a small, but well stocked bar with no TV. Guess you have to have your phone or actaully talk to someone! The staff makes sure to ask about food allergies and dietary requests, which is appreciated, but not a huge deal for me. We started with the wedge salad with delicious bacon lardons. The local lettuce had a little bit of bitterness, but the tomato/corn relish and feta cheese helped balance out the flavors. The chipotle bleu cheese is a unique touch for the dressing, but it worked. Very good salad. For entrees, our first choice was the seafood bucatini. The pasta was cooked to a perfect al dente, not a lot of restaurants do that anymore. It came with a white wine cream sauce, that was pretty thick, but not overly heavy. The pasta came with shrimp, mussels, and clams. And yes there was grated cheese, it tasted very good, no need for anyone to be offended by the seafood and cheese combo. I ordered the grilled ribeye au poivre, it was cooked to perfect medium, pink on the inside. There were a lot of the little peppercorns, it was not a sauce that lacked flavor. On the side were two square shaped crispy potato stacks, a side I've never seen before. Maybe a little bit of veg would've helped brighten up the plate and bring it all together. My biggest disappointment was the lack of attention by the servers. I had to ask for a refill on my iced tea and water glasses. After I finished one tea glass, it was never cleared off the table. And twice another server walked by with a water pitcher and didn't offer us a refill. I mean my glass was empty aside from ice cubes that were halfway melted. To be frank, that's on the trainers to instill good habits. They were nice enough, but there are certain things that could've been done to make our experience better. Food is excellent. Lots of vegetarian options and very sensitive to allergies. If you've read any of my other reviews, you'll remember my wife has a gluten allergy and is sensitive to dairy. I am allergic to tree nuts, have Alpha Gal syndrome and am diabetic. We feel very safe at this restaurant. I had the salmon and my wife had the cauliflower entree. Both were excellent! Highly recommend both. We started with the guacamole app which was also tasty. Desert was the ice cream sandwich and the carrot cake (gluten free!). Ambiance is good - lots of plants and art for a comfortable space. Service was the problem. Our server was kind of attentive but the kitchen was extremely slow. Our server mentioned the kitchen was slow - took over an hour for our entrees to be delivered. They did comp our deserts as a good faith effort. Great place for dates. Not the best for small kids - it's loud and the menu isn't the most kid friendly I've seen (by design I believe). Great place for family outings or a night with friends. Because of the noise, I prob wouldn't do a business dinner here unless someone in the party I wanted to impress was devote vegetarian. read more

I love that they offer a mix of vegan/vegetarian options while also offering animal protein, dairy, etc. as well. I ordered the Belgian waffle with maple syrup, strawberries, and extra plant based whipped cream. I do wish the plant based whipped cream was a bit sweeter but it doesn't lose any points for being as light and fluffy as a dairy option. I also had 3 chicken sausage links as my side. I can't believe I've lived in Raleigh so long and have never been to Irregardless. I recently went and was able to enjoy their outdoor seating. Service was friendly, but since we were on the end of the patio it was slow. We didn't mind though! I shared the grilled peach salad and blackened salmon. Both were spot on! I'd certainly order them again. I loved the grilled asparagus and risotto sides that came with the salmon. For dessert we shared the chocolate hazelnut silk pie and the early grey tea ice cream sandwich. The silk pie was the clear winner for me. It was pretty amazing!! Even the crust was tasty, I wouldn't have known it was gluten free. Highly recommend saving room for dessert. The love keyboardist was also a nice touch, especially on a Tuesday night! read more

I am not a vegetarian but we had a guest stay with us who is. I have known about the Irregardless since it opened in the 1970s. I felt that vegetarian food was for other people. The restaurant was around the corner when I was at State. My wife and I took our guest to the restaurant and it immediately became one of our favorites. After several decades, we decided to check it out. The menus has meat items which are very good for the non-vegetarians, but there are lots of interesting food for vegetarians. Parking nearby. Just ok... but we would try it again... We went on Mother's Day for dinner (2 adults, 2 kids)... pretty close to the end of the night. It was very bright and very cold on the inside and unfortunately we were seated right next to a vent. Our server took a while to come over to acknowledge us (we did have 2 other servers who checked on us after asking us if we'd been helped yet, and took our drink order). I ordered the Raspberry Beret- it was very good. When our waitress finally came, we ordered the Crab Dip for an appetizer, I ordered the Seafood Bucatini, and my husband ordered the Morgan Street Chicken (the kids ordered from the kids menu). The crab dip was tasty, but there was a very thick layer of cheese on top. The saltines were greasy and broke easily. The Seafood Bucatini had good flavor. For the price, the noodle to seafood ratio wasn't great, but that's to be expected. The Morgan Street Chicken was just ok - there was so much sauce. (The mashed potatoes were good, but the kale wasn't). The kids pasta came with marinara sauce, but it left much to be desired (we probably could have asked for more sauce).
