We were in the area visiting friends and I wanted to take my husband out for his birthday. We are vegan. Fiction Kitchen was recommended by local friends. The food was five star but service was a bit less than ideal. We had a reservation and watched someone without a reservation get seated first and we were then offered a table right by the kitchen. We were re-seated when we requested. Food took awhile to come out. But the food was good. The servings were huge! I think 3 of us could have split an entree. But we were glad to enjoy leftovers. The corn chowder was delightfully smoky. The popcorn chicken is soooo good. As is the grilled tofu. The table side cornbread - we inhaled it. One member of your party was disappointed with the panzanella salad but the risotto and dessert made up for it. We were so full we took the dessert home. A couple hours later, it was still amazing - the PB cheesecake and tres leches cake. As a non-drinker, I enjoyed the mocktail. It was vinegary and peachy - unique and tasty! I would return

They are in a new location. There was plenty of parking. Went for Sunday brunch and the food did not disappoint. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server was very friendly. We ordered the French toast with soysage (which was devoured immediately) and chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit. with home fries. The biscuit was dense and so delicious that we didn't use ketchup. The home fries were cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend!

Delicious experience here for dinner with some girlfriends. I had been wanting to try Fiction Kitchen for years but never got down there. Now they have a new location off of Crabtree Blvd which was lovely. We had reservations and were put in a big booth. Daily specials were written on a chalkboard. We missed them but our server read them to us. I ended up ordering the curry bowl with spice level of 2. It was absolutely fabulous and a good portion size. Friends ordered the peanut noodle bowl and the risotto and raved about them as well. Service was good and the chef even came out to ask how our meal was. I did not order a drink but they had a good beer/wine, cocktail selection. Also, if you are not vegan you can add protein to any meal. Loved that the menu was clearly labeled gluten free, nut free, soy free.

Been dying to try this spot since discovered last fall.

From time to time, I venture new cuisines and tonight is vegan eats. We pulled up to the cutest cozy spot perfect for a date night or fancy little drink at the bar. Fiction Kitchen served up s scrumptious special with the most delicious bbq grilled oyster mushrooms, rice and brussel sprouts. My friends devoured their mac n cheese secret menu special. Shout out to the amazing staff that assisted in meal accommodations.

Great experience! Food: ordered the cornbread, locavore salad and lions mane Rangoon the for the table, had the farmers market special (gnocchi) with added crispy fried tofu for myself and an order of tres leche for dessert. Everything and I mean everything was amazing! Great flavors! Healthy servings and cooked perfectly. Service: we had reservations and were seated immediately. Or drink order were taken upon being seated as well as starters which came out promptly. Our silverware was changed out after each use. Our server was very friendly and had great recommendations! Knew the menu forward and backward and was quick. Ambiance: the place is somewhat casual but with a funky flare. It has a cool chill vibe, great for groups and not too nosy. Parking is right outside restaurant which is convenient.

Checked out this place recently with a few friends and it was amazing! As a vegetarian, I enjoy checking out different vegetarian and vegan friendly restaurants. There are so many options at this restaurant. Love the fresh ingredients. I opted for the pulled pork sandwich that is made with soy protein and marinated in a pepper vinegar base. The sandwich was better than I expected!! I am a saucy person and I was shocked that the sandwich had so much flavor without a bbq sauce. It exceeded my expectations. I also tried a bit of the peanut noodle bowl and that was very tasty too. The prices are affordable and parking is easy accessible. The staff are so friendly and attentive. Look forward to visiting this place again soon!

The service is excellent! The server was so nice, made small talk, and was attentive. It seemed like the workers here actually enjoyed working here. The food was remarkable and creative. I had the BBQ platter but with fried chicken, which was delicious. My husband got the fries which were perfectly done and not overly salty. The restaurant will move in 4-5 weeks to another location in the same complex. I definitely will return! The only barrier is that their hours are a bit restricted.

We had a fantastic family dinner here. The BBQ pulled pork was a amazing! Even those who've had real BBQ raved about it being close to real thing. The desserts were equally impressive - the tres leches and egg nog cheesecake were pure indulgence. Can't wait to return soon!

Lovely spot. As of today, it's still located on Dawson. Eventually they are moving! Keep on eye on their social. The menu has variety, but the sweet and salty is what won me over with the chicken and waffles. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The saltiness was spot on. The arugula was eaten although kinda odd on top, but hey, anything with a natural green is okay with me. I pushed it aside so my maple syrup didn't touch it. I ended up ordering their seasonal pumpkin cheesecake with candied walnuts. Super delightful and truly pumpkin. A hefty serving too! Loved the decor at the bar and my time spent talking with the bartender and local gals sitting with me.

As we were eating in the large and open seating area - there was Alex again, busily clearing tables and ensuring the dining happiness of nearby patrons! We ordered the grape leaves, baklava, namoora and tabbouli. I am Lebanese and these are staples in our home. The grape leaves were extremely dry and tough. The rice was very undercooked and the leaves themselves were so dry and tough we could barely chew through them. We ordered 12 and thought maybe it was a fluke but all 12 were completely inedible and we threw them out immediately. The baklava was okay, nothing to write home about. Very simple syrup forward and you couldn't taste much else (we ordered the walnut). The namoora was stale. Very dry. Namoora should melt in your mouth with with a slight chew. This was again, tough and stale. We threw those out as well. Lastly, our favorite salad, tabbouli. The lemon taste was nonexistent. The parsley wasn't chopped fine as Tabbouli should be. It was a watery mess. Overall, we won't be back. We spent over $75 on 4 items and left feeling hungry and bamboozled. There are other Lebanese food spots to visit in the Raleigh area, I will stick to those. Please do better when representing Lebanese cuisine. 15 workers behind the counter can seem like you're doing something right but in the end, it all comes down to the freshness and authenticity of what you are claiming to serve.

Let me start with this: I am absolutely biased because Aladdin's is my favorite restaurant ever!…read moreAnd I'm not ashamed to admit it. I've practically followed this place across states and cities. I discovered Aladdin's years ago when I lived in Northern Virginia. After that first visit, I was hooked and started going several times a year. When the Shirlington location closed, they reopened in Burke, and that became my new go‑to spot every time I visited the area. And then, heartbreak , they closed that location too. One day I randomly searched to see if they had opened anywhere else, and you won't believe it... they popped up right here in North Carolina, the same state I now live in! And while it's not in Charlotte, my brother lives in Raleigh, which means every trip to see him doubles as an excuse to visit Aladdin's. My usual order is the shawarma rolled, and trust me when I say it's the best! The savory, flavorful meat paired with those pickled veggies, plus all the heavenly spices and sauces, well t's just perfect! I've had shawarma at countless places over the years, and nothing even comes close to theirs. I typically grab an appetizer as well, dolmas or falafel. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Every dish I've tried has been spectacular. Introduced my brother and wife to this place, and they've already been back! To give you an idea of how deep my love for this place goes, the last time I visited I ordered 4 extra shawarma rolls to go, froze them, and rationed them out at home. They don't hold up perfectly after being frozen but I did still enjoy every single one. Aladdin's will always be one of those rare restaurants that I go out of my way to visit and I'll continue to stop by as often as I possibly can. If you love Mediterranean flavors (Lebanese) this spot is a must!!!

The atmosphere immediately stood out with colorful artwork throughout the restaurant that felt like a gallery showcasing local artists. It had the energy of a modern, upbeat vegan gastropub while still feeling comfortable enough to settle in and enjoy your meal. As someone who enjoys finding restaurants with great vegetarian options, this place was a fantastic surprise. The menu offers a wide variety of plant-based dishes without making them feel like an afterthought. Instead, they take center stage, and that alone has me looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu. I ordered the Knob Creek Old Fashioned along with the Philly Cheesesteak and an order of the malt vinegar fries. The Old Fashioned was well-balanced and exactly what I was hoping for. The cheesesteak was packed with flavor, and the malt vinegar fries were the perfect pairing. One thing worth noting is that most entrées don't come with a side, so be sure to order one separately. The menu does mention it, but it's easy to overlook if you're skimming. The service was outstanding. My server was cheerful, attentive, and took the time to explain different menu options without making me feel rushed. That level of hospitality made an already enjoyable meal even better. Pricing falls comfortably in the low-to-mid range, but the quality easily punches above its weight. To borrow a phrase from my recent Game of Thrones binge, this meal was worth far more than its weight in coin. I'll absolutely be back. In fact, I could easily see this becoming a regular stop whenever I'm in Raleigh for work--or even when I'm in town for personal trips. Restaurants that combine great food, welcoming service, and a memorable atmosphere are hard to come by, and Element Gastropub checks every box. Final Verdict: Good food brings you in. Great atmosphere brings you back.

"Vegan faux meat dishes near the Raleigh Convention Center"…read more Stopped here on the Saturday of GalaxyCon in July at 5pm. There are a lot of outdoor tables with umbrellas, but we opted for the interior. The interior was a bit dark but still comfortable, especially near the windows. We got to pick our table and were given menus promptly. I went for the faux Philly cheesesteak and a side salad with Bleu cheese. My girlfriend got the western nodeo burger and a side salad with ranch. Service was good- there was a little confusion about our order and what table we were at, but they were apologetic about it. And we still got our food within 20 minutes and regularly were offered drink refills. My food was fine. The vegan Bleu cheese dressing was quite runny and tasted ok but not nearly as good as the real thing. Honestly, I felt the same about the cheesesteak. The faux meat was oddly rubbery, and the cheese was just ok. It also wasn't very large. In contrast, my girlfriend's dishes were excellent- the ranch dressing was epic and the burger was super tasty. Warning- it was hot, especially the jalapeños. But delicious. If I went back, I'd get her order for sure. Price was pretty good especially for the burger- most entrees were in the $15-20 range, but did not come with sides. Overall, a good vegan option near the convention center and Marriott hotel.
