    Vegetarian lasagna
    Amber H.

Had a wonderful date night with my husband here. Such a cool vibe. Loved the artwork and background music. The servers were so welcoming and quick to get us anything we needed. The food took a little while but it was well worth it! Everything was absolutely delicious. I am not vegetarian but would 100% eat here every week if we lived closer. The vegetarian lasagna was magnificent, and the brunch and gnocchi arabiatta was also delicious. The samosa we had as an appetizer was good, and the dark chocolate walnut cake was yummy too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area!

I was delighted to find a vegetarian restaurant so close to my hotel, but Sage is well worth going out of your way! On my first visit I tried the lasagna. It's hard to find veggie lasagna at all, let alone one so tasty. While it was rich, it was not drowning in cheese or sauce, which gave it a lighter, healthier vibe. It was so good that I returned the next day (which I rarely do while traveling) to try the lunchtime falafel wrap. The falafel itself was perfectly textured and tasty, the wrap nicely toasted, and the dill house dressing on the side salad was sooooo delicious. I also had cold Persian tea, and that was beautifully aromatic. My lunchtime companion, a meat eater, loved his gnocchi and especially thought the sauce was great. Next time I'm in the area, I'll be back!

Small and the patio is so cute. The only downside is the a/c inside doesn't work well and it was hot. The drinks are craft and well done. I can always count on a solid cocktail here. The food is so good and perfect for sharing. My go to dishes are the gambas (shrimp), the barbacoa is my absolute favorite, the octopus and either the crudo or ceviche. This is more than enough food for 2 people. The food and drinks are consistent. I recommend making a reservation on OpenTable ahead of time as it can be crowded on any given day. They are kind and accommodating if you don't have a reservation, but you may have to wait. This is a Durham staple for me.

Overall, the food was okay, not the best but not the worst. The couple we dined with ordered the Gambas a La Plancha (shrimp) and let us try some, it had a delicious sauce that was really good with the ciabatta bread! My two favorite dishes were the Gambas and the Barbacoa, overall they had the best flavor/value. NC Corn Elote ($12): decent grilled corn, but there was way too much mayo on the plate. Birria Dumplings ($17): these were good, I loved the sauce which had a good kick! Barbacoa ($19): The meat was a bit fatty/greasy, but the amount of food was well worth the price. It came with corn tortillas and other fresh toppings/sauces that cut through the fat. Campechano Sope ($16): The dish had a good spice, however, I think the octopus was overcooked.

We made a reservation for a Saturday night dinner and he made sure we were well taken care of all night. We started the night with their James Bears award winning cocktails, and every drink we ordered was a hit! Spiced strawberry mule, Sunset Sipper, and the table favorite: Earl Please. The latter two drinks were mocktails and they were still standouts! As for the food, the Alley burger was perfectly cooked: juicy patty paired with truffle cheese and simple toppings that really highlighted the burger itself. And shoestring fries are always a good choice with a delicious burger. Ricotta gnocchi was also very good. As our server Anthony said, let's get this burger nominated!

I saw a lot of buzz on Instagram about dining in an igloo for the holiday season, so I wanted to…read moretry it since I thought it would be a cool experience! The food and concept were great, but unfortunately the experience was a little lackluster. I made reservations a few weeks ahead of time online because this does sell out. I did the prix fixe igloo dinner experience that's $65 per person. There are four courses included and you can add drinks for an additional fee. When you book the reservation for this, they also take a $50 deposit that gets applied to the final bill. I also learned later there is a 20% service charge added to your bill too. My husband and I got there a few minutes ahead of our reservation and were able to be taken to our igloo immediately. Sadly, that was when the superb service ended. Our igloo was right next to the hostess stand and the few times she was actually sitting at the stand, she was on her phone FaceTiming someone. The Igloo Prix Fixe is advertised as a 90 minute "leisurely" dining experience, but this was way too slow of service. It took almost 20 minutes for our server to greet us and take our order. When you order, you order all four courses at once. I ordered the bay gem salad, butternut squash ravioli, truffle steak (a $5 up-charge), and butterscotch pudding. They didn't have the ravioli, so they substituted it to for macaroni & cheese. My husband also ordered a soda. Course 1 came in about 5ish minutes; however, it took 30 minutes for my husband to get his soda. It then took 40 minutes after Course 1 for Course 2. Course 3 came 10 minutes later. Course 4 came 20 minutes after that. I will say all the food was great! I would only recommend they work on food timing. It felt that there should have been a longer wait between Course 2 and 3 rather than 1 and 2. The whole experience also took a little bit longer than 90 minutes, so people should be aware in case they had plans elsewhere afterwards. The inside of the igloo dining area was nice! There were 2 couches and chairs near a space heater so you didn't have to worry about the cold outside. Overall, this was a unique experience, but I probably would not do it again though based on the service.

The inside of the igloos was pretty spacious and warm thanks to a little electric fire and the couches were comfy. I wasn't personally bothered by the rain, but one of my friends was sitting underneath one of the zippers and got wet from the rain leaking in through the zipper hole. Food wise I just ordered a glass of moscato which was very nice and tried a few of my friend's fries which were fine, but nothing special and quite pricey. Overall it was a cool experience but the food and drinks were overpriced and took a really long time to come out so I don't know if it was really worth it.

We started with the Dovi Rice Bites. Five come in a portion. They were good, flavorful, and the sauce it was served in accompanied it well. The Braai chicken was not my favorite, but only because I didn't care too much for the peanut sauce it was served in. The chicken was tender and had a great char flavor, but it wasn't seasoned well since it was seasoned with powdered ginger which doesn't really pack enough of a punch flavor wise. However, the braised goat was the star! The goat was delicious and tender and the jollof rice was different than I'm used to but good. The sauce though! The sauce the goat was served in was phenomenal. I'd love to bottle that and have it on every meal. I also took the Braai chicken and rolled it around in the sauce, which improved it exponentially. I'd return for that braised goat!
