It's super close to UNC's campus, with street parking out front and a garage around back, which makes it pretty convenient, and there's plenty of indoor seating too. They serve grain and salad bowls--you can build your own or pick one of their signature bowls. I tried the new Garu bowl which features Korean BBQ chicken, honey sesame sticks, kimchi, and sesame caesar dressing. Service was quick, and the portion was solid (definitely enough for two meals). Everything tasted fresh, but the chicken was a little dry and didn't really have much Korean BBQ flavor, which was kind of disappointing. AMAZING healthy bowl place! It's as if Chopt salad and Chipotle had a love child and named it Roots. They had a very good selection and many allergy friendly options! As a Celiac foodie, I recommend! Specifically, their BBQ Tofu was to die for! If you're on Franklin Street, this is where it's at! I asked to sample the tofu and the staff were very kind about it. The bowl was big enough for 2 meals so I ate half and stored the rest in the fridge for lunch tomorrow. I made sure to get the dressing on the side. The ingredients were super fresh and very tasty. I have triumphed over my fear of Roots' raw chicken. Or maybe, then, Roots has triumphed over me as I continue to eagerly purchase. I love their chipotle tabasco intensely. I have three other Yelp drafts mentioning the sour savory foods kick I've been on recently, I believe my love for their chipotle tabasco is part of it. My order has tended to be the Talladega with pickled onions instead of red, a different cheese (usually feta) instead of cheddar, and something more substantial like sweet potatoes or broccoli to replace the pimento peppers. To be fair to the cheddar, I've never tried it. However, I associate it with pre-shredded, starch-coated cheddar. Same with the pimento peppers- before this review I thought they were just red peppers. I may try the original soon, with pickled onions instead of red.
