The food is all very good, well priced and the inside is cute. The staff is super nice! Look forward to going back.

Came here with a group recently and we were seated immediately. No complaints about service. The train car idea is cool, pretty unique. I got the chicken pad Thai and thought it was decent, big serving size. My friend got the pad see ew and thought the same thing. The Thai tea was very sweet but good. Prices were a tiny bit steep but maybe normal for that area, I wouldn't know. Overall: decent Thai place near CH with decent food

1-star downgrade due to the disappointing customer service by a server who went by "Mew" (according to receipt) and maybe the chef for the long wait. Took my mom to lunch here for the first time, and although we both enjoyed the food, we were seriously disappointed with Mew's customer service. She was unfriendly and not once did she offer to refill our glasses of water. When my mom asked for more water, she did not even ask me when my glass was almost empty. My wife and I had more professional servers in Thsi Station before. We both ordered the Yellow Curry (chicken as our choice of protein) lunch special, which came with a cup of white rice and ginger Thai-spiced salad. She wanted to try the Papaya Salad and she liked it but not my kind of food. Lunch special still a great deal if you enjoy Thai curry. Ambiance is as pleasant as ever but I already detailed it in my previous review.

Delicious Thai place with a stunning train themed ambiance. We went here on a Friday night, the wait was for 45 minutes which was almost the closing time. But they still accommodated us. The price is very reasonable and the taste of the food is amazing. The service was excellent, the waitress patiently listened to all our requests and made sure they were heard. Would definitely recommend this place

My family frequently orders from Thai Station for takeout but today I dined in for the first time in years with a friend. I always forget how fun it is to sit in the actual train cars and this was a perfect spot for a quiet weekday lunch. The service today was excellent and we throughly enjoyed our lunch - especially the super affordable lunch menu. I ordered off the regular menu because I can never get enough of the Basil Fried Rice but I have enough leftovers for a full second meal. Thai Station is always a good choice in Carrboro!

First off, ambiance is so GOOD. It actually is right by the train tracks but is also composed of 2 train cars and a greenhouse-esque area in between the two. That alone is just so fun and good and exciting. We got to sit in one of the train cars which was fun and I'm glad we got to. Who doesn't love trains? Ordered the nam khao, tom yum soup and the khao soi. Normally we are drunken noodle/basil fried rice people but the offerings of the menu and the setting encouraged us to be adventurous. First off, I LOVE nam khao, it's just so good. This dish I knew I would love. It's got crispy rice, crispy pork, peanuts and just tastes so good, i just wish there wasn't ginger bits in it as I'm personally not a fan and it threw me off a bit. Also wish they gave us more lettuce so we could wrap it properly. I think that the nam khao at Yin Dee is somewhat better but this was still very good. 4/5 The tom yum was very rich and good. Great flavor but I wish it had much more lime to get more of that classic sour of tom yum. It just wasn't as classically tom yum as I was expecting but still good and comes with little fish cakes, meat, shrimp, noodles. Large portion size - as my mom would say, comes in a bowl big enough for you to wash your face in. 3.5/5 for flavor The last dish was the out of the blue one for us. Never heard of it, just thought the description sounded good. It's a curry like texture that is sort of sweet but also salty and spicy. It comes with both regular noodles and dried crispy egg noodles which was fun. The beef is very tender. I'm always afraid that meat will be chewy or fatty when I see big chunks but every piece was tender throughout. Also the portion was HUGE. It was definitely an interesting flavor I don't think I've ever encountered before, and I think it took multiple successive bites for the sweetness of the curry to grow on me as I'm someone who is strictly savory for my meals. Overall 3.5-4/5 for overall flavor of the meal. 5/5 for portion size and 15/5 for ambiance.

I've been wanting to come here for a long time and was so glad I could come with my girlfriend. Such a cool ambience with great service and delicious food. Wonderful Carrboro staple. I look forward to coming back soon.

I'm so excited to come back here! This place has incredible Thai food. I wish I lived closer because I'd be ordering this all of the time! Totally worth the drive from Cary.

Food 5 Stars Ambiance 4 Stars Service 3 Stars To be fair it was a Saturday night. We asked to be seated in one of the 2 train cars but that was not obliged even though 2 couples right after us were seated there - and that's part of the issues we had with service. We were the one table being served by a server in the dining car, not the main restaurant room so we were and felt like an afterthought. I still gave a 25% tip as it was a Saturday and I will give grace for that, however, I hope it's not always like this. We waited quite a while for drinks, appetizers, and entrees. My wife never got a knife she asked for. Also they had just 2 desserts and were out of all the others. Now to the food - it was fantastic. Best Thai I've had since moving to North Carolina. This would be a 5 star if not for the service issues. We will give them another shot next time we come to Cat's Cradle or to Chapel Hill and Carrboro but maybe not on a Saturday night.

Food was good ... atmosphere was nice... service was a little slow but was half hour before lunch hours ended.

Atmosphere is second to none! Beautiful atrium area surrounded by train cars - with tables in both places! Every server we've had there has been so kind and helpful and they really seem to want everyone to enjoy their food. The table next to us had members with several food allergies, and the server was very knowledgeable about what items contained allergens or could be cross-contaminated. That's always nice to see! The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable, especially for being in such an eclectic atmosphere. All of the food we've sampled there has been delicious! It has a little bit of a different flair than other Thai restaurants we've eaten at, but is equally delicious! It truly is five stars all the way around!

This is a super cute spot, quirky and fun looking. Diners sit mostly in old train cars. In theory I love this idea, but the acoustics are exactly what you might imagine in a long, metal tube. We were seated in a car with several young children, and the noise level was far from ideal. My initial impression of the service was not good. The server came back and forth to tell us the first three things we ordered were unavailable, including one of the specials. Mind you, she seemed unaware of this when we ordered. I heard a diner that came later try to order this same special. Only after he made his selection did she notify him of that. She was very sweet, but honestly not a good server. The food we did have was good. My husband had Massaman curry with duck. I finally settled on the seafood ramen, and it was among the best I've ever had. We would return for the food, but I'd try sitting outside next time. Weather did not permit us to do this last night.

This place was SOOOOO GOOD! First off, the complimentary salad and fish crisps were amazing. Our table ordered a variety of dishes and everyone agreed that they were flavorful and spiced really well. I got the thai seafood ramen and it was a dish that was both comforting and had a real depth to its flavor. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the staff is so friendly and attentive. Though people might be nervous to come here because of all the towing, they don't tow you if you park in the Carr Mill lot and eat at Thai Station so you also don't have to worry about finding parking.

I was excited to try Cham Thai it after reading a number of enthusiastic reviews, particularly from…read moreCalifornians who said it reminded them of the kind of delicious authentic Thai food that's easy to find out there and that I got used to living in Los Angeles for five years. Our party of four was seated immediately at 6:30pm on a Friday evening. We ordered three dishes: - pad see ew with shrimp - red curry with shrimp - massaman curry with tofu The pad see ew was the standout: the large shrimp and the broccoli were cooked perfectly, and it had good flavor overall. The two curries were disappointing. The tofu in the massaman curry was cut very small and seemed over-fried, and the sauce lacked the creamy richness I associate with that dish -- the kind that comes from potatoes simmering in the curry for a long time (and the potatoes seemed barely cooked). The red curry had only two pieces of eggplant (!) and was overwhelmed by too many red and green bell peppers -- they dominated the flavor profile. Like the pad see ew, the red curry did include large, well-cooked shrimp, which was its saving grace. Both curry dishes also had far more bamboo shoots than seemed necessary (as another Yelper notes, about 5x what other places put in). Using so much of an an inexpensive filler vegetable looks like a way the restaurant is trying to save money -- just sayin'. I also tasted a companion's tom kha soup, which was essentially warm coconut milk with very little additional flavor. More bamboo shoots... One note about both serving sizes and presentation: the serving platters at Cham Thai are extremely wide and very shallow, which spreads the food out into a very thin layer over a large area and gives the impression of a larger portion of food than is actually there (noting this because many reviews say that the "portions are huge" -- not our experience). For diners needing gluten-free options, the messaging from the staff was very confusing. At first we were told confidently by our server that "any dish on the menu could be easily be made gluten-free" because the kitchen "has three sauces: regular, vegan, and gluten-free." When we ordered a dish gluten-free, however, the server paused, said he "needed to check something," left, and returned to say that dish could NOT be prepared gluten-free after all (?). A "Cashew Nut" entree ordered gluten-free arrived missing the cashews; after checking with the kitchen, the server explained they had been omitted because the fried cashews in the dish could not be guaranteed gluten-free due to cross-contamination. It would have been helpful to know that ahead of time, or given raw cashews when the dish was served to us. Our server apologized and eventually gave us a bowl of raw cashews on the side. It's also worthy of note that NONE of the eleven dishes they call "Recommendations" on the menu are vegetarian (see photo). All in all, our meal at Cham Thai didn't quite live up to the restaurant's Yelp reviews. There is better Thai food in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area.

My friends got a bowl and other rolls which weren't too bad according to them. Their Thai coconut soup lacked flavor as well and ended up just eating the protein from it to feel like it was somewhat worth it. Deep fried sushi definitely feels like a sin but the bagel roll was simple and tasty! A good crunch on the outside and the creamy inside was a nice textural experience. I wish there was more flavor in the actual salmon and roll. I asked for the spicy tuna to be replaced with soft shell crab in the to all the rolls I've loved before order but I don't think it was (the server did say they could). It was still tasty enough and there was some spicy to this roll. I liked the variety of meats in this roll and it was nicely and neatly rolled. Service was relatively quick but nothing special. It is pretty hot and they had a fan going...unfortunately the direction was directly at the back of my head and my hair kept blowing close to the food. Gets nostalgia points but just okay overall and good if you are on a budget for sushi.

This is a casual, fun, Asian-Latin fusion restaurant and bar. Inside, the space is divided into two sides: bar and dining room. A big "LUCHA TIGRE" covers one of the bar walls and pop art decorates the main dining room wall. They also have a somewhat spacious, partially-covered patio. Overall, it's got a neat vibe. I booked our reservations on Lucha Tigre's website at https://luchatigre.com/ The reservation process was unconventional because instead of getting booked immediately, I had to wait for an email confirmation. On a Sunday, I got a "Pending Reservation Request" email at 2:16pm followed by a confirmation email at 2:52pm, so a 36-minute turnaround time. I got us a same-day reservation at 5pm, not a peak time as evidenced by the lack of customers upon our arrival. However, business had picked up by the time we left around 6:30. The menu had an interesting selection of food and drink. A few good examples of the Asian-Latin fusion served here include General Tso's Chicken Empanadas ($5 each), Pozole Ramen ($15.99), and Pad Thai Al Pastor ($16.99). They also serve straight-up Asian and Latin dishes like pho ($14.99) and tacos ($2 and $4 each). Drink-wise, they had a full bar with a decent selection that included tequila, mezcal, and sake cocktails. They even had a cocktail made with Japanese Suntory Whisky Toki. Here's what my wife and I had: Bebidas Especiales (cocktails) * El Conquistador ($14) - Tequila Herradura Silver, freshly-squeezed citrus, Cointreau Tapas * Tuna Tiradito ($16.99) - sashimi tuna with aji amarillo pepper, onions, cilantro, roasted corn nuts, and fresh citrus; Nikkei cuisine * Bulgogi Nachos ($15.99) - giant-size nachos with Korean BBQ beef, pico, kimchi, cheese, crema, jalapenos, black beans Entrees * Salmon Poke ($18.99) - raw salmon with sesame, onion, and tamari with seaweed salad, rice, and avocado * Pollo Saltado ($16.99) - stir-fried chicken, tomato, cilantro, onion; served over fries with rice and salad In general, we were happy or content with everything. Some dishes were better than others. Beautiful presentation all around. The El Conquistador was a margarita that was more tart and less sweet. It was refreshing. I liked the Tuna Tiradito more than my wife. Tiradito is like Peruvian sashimi. I thought this dish was fine. I could see why my wife didn't like it as much because the texture of the tuna wasn't as fresh and appetizing as the tuna sashimi we're accustomed to. This tuna was a bit more "pasty" in texture. Also, the roasted corn nuts, which we think were the same as hominy, didn't add much. The standout dish was the Bulgogi Nachos. I saw pictures of it on Yelp and knew we had to order it. The portion size was huge and the Korean beef bulgogi was sweet and savory. We devoured the nachos. They were incredibly delicious and addictive. A lot of textures and flavors, and they all blended and worked well together. The Salmon Poke was solid. I recommend it if you like poke. Admittedly, it was better than we both expected because we haven't encountered a lot of great poke in the Chapel Hill-Durham area. Decent portions and fresh salmon, seaweed salad, and other ingredients. I will say the rice tasted plain and not seasoned with rice vinegar. The poke came with two sauces on the side, tamari (a type of Japanese soy sauce) and what I think was a type of curry sauce. The salmon was already nicely marinated and tasty so the sauces weren't needed. The Pollo Saltado was OK. It wasn't among the best I've had, but it was "authentic." The problems with this dish were the chicken was too dry and tough and the fries were underseasoned (not salty enough). Unfortunately, the salad was the best part of this dish. Our server Taryn was great. She was attentive and efficient. Everything we ordered came out fairly quickly. One detail I really liked and appreciated was Taryn neatly packed our leftovers and labeled and dated the boxes. That's an extra level of service you don't get at most other sit-down restaurants. Lucha Tigre opened in December 2012. It replaced the Chapel Hill location of The Original Flying Burrito: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-original-flying-burrito-chapel-hill You can find it in the Midtown Market shopping plaza, north of UNC's campus. There's plenty of free dedicated parking. I didn't have a good cell signal here and used their guest Wi-Fi. Password was Beefbulgogi1.
