This was our first Ethiopian food trial in the Triangle, and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was clean and quiet, and the service prompt and friendly. The food was presented on a circular tray on injera (Ethiopian stretchy bread), and of course, we ate with our hands, which is half the fun of going to an Ethiopian restaurant! We also enjoyed a bottle of Ethiopian beer, which has a picture of a woman with her eyes sideways which is funny yet iconic. The food was tasty, and the price reasonable. I will come here again.

Every time I come here it's a pleasant experience. I love the aesthetic/ ambience. the servers and incredible food make ekhaya my go to recommendation for a nice dinner with friends or the perfect date night. Tonight I sat at the bar and only had the Brussel sprouts and a gin cocktail-both were excellent. Doug, the bartender, was excellent and so knowledgeable about the menu. If you like FLAVOR and a unique dining experience absolutely recommend!

Zweli's Ehkaya delivered an absolutely amazing brunch experience for my family! From the seamless reservation process to the immediate seating in their stunning, authentically Zimbabwean-inspired space, everything was top-notch. Our server, Nia, was a gem - incredibly knowledgeable and her recommendations were spot on. Here is what we enjoyed: Sweet Magwinyas $10.00 Zimbabwean donut bread with powered sugar French Toast $18.00 Banana's foster's with candied pistachios and a honey ricotta cream Fried Catfish $19.00 Stone ground grits with a cajun sauce, and egg your way Each Addition $5.00 Bacon, Two Eggs Banana Mojito $12.00 Banana Rum, garnished with mint sprig and lime wheel Peargingertini $17.00 Pear vodka, pear, and ginger mash topped with cava Beyond the exceptional food and drinks, the restaurant was impeccably clean and well-maintained, and the nearby parking deck was a definite plus. We can't wait for our next visit to Ehkaya's!

    The Mayor!!

First time visiting this restaurant. We were referred here by some very close friends who never let me down. We ordered "The Mayor" drink. It was very good. We ordered the chicken wings, the oxtails, the watermelon soup and the curry cauliflower. We couldn't decide which one we liked the best. They were all excellent. The staff were all great and the food came out right on time.

I did not think African cuisine could be so vegetarian friendly! The use of fresh, flavorful vegetables and traditional African dishes was something like I've never had before. Every dish was something different and challenged my palette. I would come back again and again for the rice bomb. The cocktails were strong and excellent. The service on the patio felt like a family dinner. Will be bringing people here again!

Modern take on African cuisine. Tapas-inspired menu. Not a huge menu list, but the offerings are delicious as well as extremely vegetarian/vegan friendly. We enjoyed the Curried Oxtails with plantain in addition to the Seafood Curry. Both dishes were absolutely delicious! Good portion size and well-seasoned. Ekhaya also has a cocktail and wine list to choose from. My husband enjoyed his Tamarind Old-fashioned while their rosé was quite nice as well. All in all, one of the nicer restaurants in American Tobacco with cuisine you don't find everywhere!

Tried their vegan menu and was thoroughly impressed. Everything was so flavorful. I don't even eat regular method but this vegan meatloaf was delicious. We also enjoyed vegan crab cakes, vegan lettuce wraps, cassava and mushrooms and a few cocktails (full bar), not many cocktail options. They recently debuted a brunch menu I'd like to try. Prices are decent. Parking is kinda tricky, either street or the deck so arrive early if you have an appointment. The atmosphere was swanky and chill.

Perfect spot to grab some food downtown before a show at DPAC! They accept reservations which is super helpful and usually needed for our nights out. Food and drinks were tasty. They were out of a few things that we tried to order, however, they really tried to make it right by comping our desserts. I loved all of the decor!

I've been to their sister restaurant but this is the first time I tried this place. I got the shakshuka and the dovi cauliflower and overall it was very good. The shakshuka was good but could have been better. The eggs were quite rubbery but the flavors were on point. The cauliflower was delicious and with very unique flavors. We also got a brunch drink which was good but would likely not get again. The service was good and we got seated quickly even without a reservation. The staff was friendly and helped with our choices. The atmosphere was good but very cozy as there is limited space and you are seated very closely to other parties. The prices were also definitely on the higher end but still worth depending on what you get. Overall, I think this place was good and on the way to being great. I am curious about their normal dinner menu and will have to come back to try it.

    Catfish & Grits (Brunch Menu)

We went for brunch on Sunday, only available from 11am to 3pm. There wasn't a long line and we were able to be seated immediately. The drinks were strong and the food was delicious. The catfish was crispy and well seasoned. the bananas foster was decadent but delicious beautiful location, and decor. There's a free parking deck next to it. Highly recommend.

My wife and I were excited to try this place out for our date night. However we left a little disappointed. We got three small plates and two drinks for about $80. The plates were described as shareable, but wouldn't agree with that. The food was delicious, just not sure it was worth the cost. Everything about the evening was elevated, even the cost!

We are fans of the original Zwelli's and wanted to try this sister restaurant. We had an offer from a local dining club and made reservations for Sunday brunch. We enjoyed the food and the decor and the staff was very friendly. If there was one tiny glitch, it seemed like they were still setting up and staff were still arriving throughout our meal. Everything was delicious but it seemed to take a bit long, and we had to remind our server about our drink orders. We would be willing to come back and try them for dinner.

This place is the first known Zimbabwean restaurant in the United States, and it offers quite a culinary experience! The menu definitely offers a variety of delicious items for all tastes. The service, professionalism and ambience are exceptional! Refer to the photos for more info about the dishes we had. It also offers a full bar with traditional drinks. This place is located in a beautiful facility in downtown Durham with plenty to do around within walking distance. It also has its own parking garage with affordable rates. 100% recommended.

From the amazing service and the curated bar menu, with a bar staff that can create drinks based on your specific taste preferences, to an extraordinary selection of bold and flavorful cuisine, Little Bull is a Huge Gem in the Durham area. __ I have had the opportunity to travel the globe, 6 continents, 62 countries, and 33 US states, tasting some of the most memorable and sometimes not memorable culinary experiences. When looking at a restaurant, it is important to consider the entire dining experience, including ambiance, service, and food. Little Bull achieved excellence in all these categories. __ Tom Kha Ceviche - Snapper, coconut leche de tigre, mixed peppers, sweet potato, choclo, peanut, salsa macha, onions, and plantain chips. The snapper was incredibly fresh, which paired perfectly with the coconut leche de tigre. The broth was well balanced with richness from the peanut butter and salsa macha, sweetness from the sweet potato and choclo, and spice from the peppers and onions. The plantains were the perfect way to bring all the ingredients together. __ Gambas a La Plancha - Shrimp, salsa piquin, onion, and ciabatta. The shrimp was well-cooked and tender, delivered with the perfect char, bringing the right sweetness while pulling in the spicy and smoky flavors from the salsa piquin. The ciabatta was a nice accompaniment to this dish, helping you soak up the amazing base sauce. __ Winter Cabbage - Charred NC Cabbage, Salsa Malcojeta, Beans Mousseline, Cumin Vinaigrette, and Salsa Macha. This was a complex dish, with the creaminess of the mousseline, the charred flavor of the cabbage, the nuttiness of the salsa macha, and the earthiness of the cumin vinaigrette. While I figured this dish would have a little spice, this dish was super spicy. I would have liked the waiter to have advised us of this before we ordered the dish. __ Arepas - Cheese arepas, chicken guasacaca, cilantro and avocado aioli, avocado mousse, sour cream and pickled onions. The cheese arepas were cooked perfectly, with a nice, crisp exterior complementing the soft interior and pairing nicely with the chicken, cilantro, and avocado flavors. The pickled onions and sour cream added a nice balance to the dish. My only complaint would be that I would have liked a little more flavor. It seemed to be lacking something, making it a little bland. __ Presentation was impeccable. I love how they curated each dish and really highlighted all the ingredients. It definitely represents why they were mentioned in the Michelin guide. __ Overall, this is a must-visit restaurant for any occasion. This is the second time I visited the restaurant and have officially made it one of my go-to restaurants for different occasions.

The food and concept were great, but unfortunately the experience was a little lackluster. I made reservations a few weeks ahead of time online because this does sell out. I did the prix fixe igloo dinner experience that's $65 per person. There are four courses included and you can add drinks for an additional fee. When you book the reservation for this, they also take a $50 deposit that gets applied to the final bill. I also learned later there is a 20% service charge added to your bill too. My husband and I got there a few minutes ahead of our reservation and were able to be taken to our igloo immediately. Sadly, that was when the superb service ended. Our igloo was right next to the hostess stand and the few times she was actually sitting at the stand, she was on her phone FaceTiming someone. The Igloo Prix Fixe is advertised as a 90 minute "leisurely" dining experience, but this was way too slow of service. It took almost 20 minutes for our server to greet us and take our order. When you order, you order all four courses at once. I ordered the bay gem salad, butternut squash ravioli, truffle steak (a $5 up-charge), and butterscotch pudding. They didn't have the ravioli, so they substituted it to for macaroni & cheese. My husband also ordered a soda. Course 1 came in about 5ish minutes; however, it took 30 minutes for my husband to get his soda. It then took 40 minutes after Course 1 for Course 2. Course 3 came 10 minutes later. Course 4 came 20 minutes after that. I will say all the food was great! I would only recommend they work on food timing. It felt that there should have been a longer wait between Course 2 and 3 rather than 1 and 2. The whole experience also took a little bit longer than 90 minutes, so people should be aware in case they had plans elsewhere afterwards. The inside of the igloo dining area was nice! There were 2 couches and chairs near a space heater so you didn't have to worry about the cold outside. Overall, this was a unique experience, but I probably would not do it again though based on the service.

Obviously portions are small but I would appreciated a bit bigger salad. Next up after we finished our salads was the Mac and cheese (didn't have the squash ravioli) which is fine as we would have preferred the Mac and cheese vs ravioli. The Mac and cheese was SO good. Pipping hot in the middle. After that came our steaks. A but on the smaller side. Smaller then my palm but again, it's a 4 course so knew we'd be full. The steak was good. Almost like a post roast. The sauce they use was really good. Could have used another steak as it was small. They grabbed our plates and it took around 45 minutes to bring our TINY chocolate mousse out. We almost walked out waiting for it but thought it would be worth our wild. It was TWO bites. It was pretty comical. Server never checked on us after grabbing our steak plates to say sorry for the wait. Lucky for her, the 20% gratuity was built in. Overall we left happy (sorta annoyed) as you are paying for the vibe and the ambiance. Would recommend this for a special evening if you have patience and no plans afterwards. Luckily we just had to go up a flight of stairs to our room lol Our total came to $320 with 2 alcoholic drinks, one N/A and 3 steak up charges. Pretty steep. Would love to see it not a set menu and you order off one big menu what you want. I think it'd bring in more people. Next time we wouldn't do any drinks as they were $$$ and we didn't taste much liquor. A fun anniversary dinner with great views!
