Slice of wonder bread with melted shredded cheddar cheese on top

Really had high hopes for this place after they advertised the Juneteenth event and all the "specials." It fell flat in all areas. We arrived around 5:15 pm and were not approached until 5:40. We tried to order the bread basket since we arrived before the 5:30 window. The waiter was not helpful. Then, I tried to order one of the menu items they advertised outside of the store on a giant poster, but apparently it is "off the menu" tonight. The waiter was not personable in the slightest. We asked about the special menu items they advertised but quickly learned that there were no special menu items. When we received our first appetizer we had high hopes because it sounded interesting. What we received was quite a shock. By toast, they literally meant a flimsy piece of white bread with shredded cheese on top (see attached picture). It was awful. To top it off, the samosas were nearly thawed when we received them. By this I mean they were still very cold in the center. But it was the best thing we had from there. The owner was very kind and comped the meal, but it was just a really bad experience overall.

I would have given 0 stars if it was just for this visit. But going to give 2 stars for our prior visit over the weekend for their lunch service, which was really good! But the second time here for dinner. The pre-set menu concept I get but shareable plates as part of the individually ordered menu is a ridiculous concept!! And the size of the serving (which apparently they decide based on the number of people in the party!! heard that before??) is a joke.. don't believe me, see the pictures I attached of the bowl sizes for shareable portions (forgot to take pics with food in them, just know these were not even full). And don't get me started on the actual taste of food.. horrible, oily, bland is how you would describe the omnivores one. Lastly, the staff.. chef indifferent to any feedback!

it was so good i forgot to take a picture!!

I had a lunch special, the Non-Vegetarian Thali, which came with a Vegetable Samosa, Dal Bukhara, Butter Chicken, Butter Naan, Rice, Raita, and a Gulab Jamun. This is the first time I've had a Thali and the presentation was beautiful. Vegetable Samosa: Perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside. Mild spicy. Dal Bukhara: Delicious lentil curry! I've never had this before (I usually get Dal Makhani), and I now know I prefer Dal Bukhara because it has lentils only. Butter Chicken: Delicious curry. I loved the smoky flavor and char on the chicken. The curry was perfectly spicy (I ordered medium spicy). The butter naan, rice, and raita were all good in supporting the dish. Gulab Jamun: A delicious sweet doughnut in syrup, a nice little treat before leaving the restaurant. The lunch Non-Veg Thali is a great deal at $24, especially for the amount of food you get (I ended up with leftovers too). I can't wait to come back and try their dinner and bar offerings!

We were seated immediately and ordered drinks which were out promptly. Jaljeera, wine and the cocktail urban turban special. I loved my jaljeera, perfect sweet and tangy spicy flavour. For starters we ordered chicken chapli kabab, tandoori fish tikka and dahi ke kabab. Dahi kebab was the winner, it was crispy and soft and went perfectly well with its sweet gravy which was good twist to this simple appetizer. My second favorite was the chapli kabab, it was so soft and juicy and very light on spice. Their fish dishes were a little disappointing, I guess the fish and preparation both were not impressive. For main course we ordered their malabar fish curry which again was a disappointment, punjabi chicken curry which was pretty good, but the daal bukhara stole our hearts, very well prepared and flavourful dish. We couldn't stop ourselves from ordering some desserts, so we ordered their balu shahi with Rabri and gulab jamun with icecream. Rabri was great, but balushahi was big, seemed undercooked and bland. It's very difficult to mess up gulab jamun so that was good. The service was fast and the people were so friendly. We paid tip over the bill that already had gratuity included since we dint know, and the person came back with money and returned it saying the gratuity is included. We loved the honesty and warm gesture of the people working there. I am really looking forward to visiting this place again soon and trying their other dishes.

We ordered: Saag chicken Chicken Tikka Masala Bhindi masala (okra) Lamb biryani And 2 garlic naans-- which were not gluten free but I was the only one who couldn't eat the naan. Rice came with the dishes. And so did Raita (yogurt sauce). The food came within about 10 minutes. It was delicious. Morris was our server-- he was very kind and helpful and attentive to our needs. I highly recommend this place. We asked for saamf (an after meal digestive) at the end and they brought it to our table.

Paired with the coconut chutney and sambar, it felt comforting and authentic without being overly heavy. The chutneys tasted fresh and well-balanced, and the sambar had a nice depth of flavor. The Mysore masala dosa was the standout for me. The dosa itself was beautifully crisp on the outside while still slightly soft inside, and the spicy red chutney spread added a great kick without overpowering everything else. The potato filling was well-seasoned, not too oily, and had just the right amount of spice. Every bite had a satisfying crunch followed by warm, savory flavors. Overall, everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. If you're craving South Indian food, this spot definitely delivers--especially for dosa lovers. I'll definitely be back to try more from their menu. The place is nice and looks classy. Service was good and the servers were patient and welcoming for us first timers when we arrived at almost closing time.

Ok, let me get this clear. Many people love this place and I now know why but I also don't want to…read moreunderstate my pure glee when trying this food. I'm a fairly practiced home cook that loves to make food-sciency dishes, Michelin inspired stuff, and true comfort food alike. Most places I've been I could now recreate the majority of the food on my own (including a variety of ethnic food, especially Indian). I think it would take me a few years to recreate ONE DISH from this place. I should seriously be spending time with my mother and grandmother but instead my head is currently buried in my phone while trying to envision the tastes that hit my tongue. Anyways, this place beat the brakes off my expectations, so let's get talking about food and service. First Impression: Upon walking into the restaurant, I was kindly greeted by the man working the front of house (Sonny) and he shook my hand after recognizing my voice. I called fifteen minutes prior to push our reservation and add a seat, but I did not expect to feel so welcomed and comfortable so quickly. Amazing hire and clearly keeps things running smoothly. No notes for the other staff either, they were all exceedingly kind, courteous, and responsive when we had questions. Ambiance: This greatly contributed to the fantastic meal we just had. They had flowers and balloons out for Mother's Day (which was not expected at all either), but also the whole place is filled with natural light and a simply great vibe when eating food. Music wasn't loud/distracting, acoustics never made me worry I was yelling either. The food also was so pretty that it just tied it all together organically. Appetizers: I think this place is pretty well known for its Gunpowder Lamb Chops. So I won't go into excessive detail, but yes it is just that fucking good that if you don't get it, you're probably not thinking straight. I will definitely be back for those because I wouldn't dare try to make it myself and ruin it. We also had this Chaat dish that was a more modern take and it was without a doubt the most creative Chaat I've ever tried. Excellent. Entrees and Sides: We ordered three entrees to share amongst 5 adults (although 2 are older folks) and had two small boxes of leftovers to argue over. The first thing that I tried was the Duck Vindaloo (9.8/10) - I knew immediately I would be writing my very first food review afterwards. I don't even know if putting duck in a vindaloo is conventional, but it's EPIC. My grandparents thought it was a touch sweet but I liked it better that way and it perfectly complemented the duck. Next was the Ember Lamb Shank Special (9.5/10) - which was of course amazing. I actually forgot to put the gravy on top for the first half of the lamb I ate, so the half point off is honestly my fault. Would've been a ten if I was locked in. We also got the Nustea Shrimp (10/10) - which I think you will have to try yourself to believe my rating. I won't even try to describe it other than the sorba (sauce) that we almost licked off the plate. Lastly, we had Naan (8.9/10), Chili-Garlic Naan (9.3/10), Raita (9.7/10), and a vegetable salad (9/10) on the side. I have always thought most Indian restaurants cheap out on the sides, but this one makes them expert level. I genuinely have no idea what the orange crunchy spheres in the raita were, but this was the only time I've ever had raita outside my home and liked it. Desserts and Beverages: We ordered the Kumbala Brulee (9.5/10, genius idea btw). The lovely staff ALSO gifted us some Raspberry cake (9.7/10) which was phenomenal. That was honestly the cherry on top that made me a true believer. Final Note: If you read this far and haven't made a reservation yet then unfortunately you didn't get the point... Go try this place ASAP I pinky promise you won't regret it. I even ordered a goat curry to go so my girlfriend could try the art they are calling food. Oh and did I somehow forget to add ALL THE MEAT IS HALAL??? What a way to put me in the running for favorite grandchild . And Sonny if you're reading this thanks for making this Mother's Day one of the best you're the man!!

Since I am pure vegetarian. I appreciated seeing no, meat and other non-vegetarian items in the menu. We ordered Bada with Sambhar and Rava Dosa along with a Mysore masala Dosa. Sambhar was extremely yummy and right combination of spices and not too spicy. Additionally, the tomato Chutney and the Coconut Chutney was very very fresh and yummy. Everything went well together. I also like that the potato filling was served on the side and not inside my Dosa, so I could control the quantity I would consume. We closed our lunch with a cup of tea. It was little strong and over boiled for my taste, but I liked the warmth of it. Overall, this is a good place to hang out with your friends or kids, and there is something for everyone on the menu. Next time I'm gonna go and try their platter which comes with Dosa Idly and Kesari Bhat and chole poori which is my way to test how good a place is ... for now I will give this place a 4 star Our server was very polite, attentive, and made the check out super easy for me

Anddddd, the best dosa in the Triangle goes to..... BLR Bar in Morrisville!…read more A few months back, I had planned a group dinner with a bunch of friends and one person recommended BLR Bar. I love Indian so I said "sure, why not!" A group of 8 of us went and as we all scoured the menu, it occurred to us that this place was vegetarian only. My initial thought (and I'm sure other peoples also) was.. "oh snap.... Did I make a mistake?" Honestly, it's been a long time that I've been to a non-meat establishment and had I known in advance, I probably would have passed this restaurant up, but since I was already there, I, along with everyone else, went with it. We were all seated, drinks had been poured, everyone was committed to their chairs. There was no backing out. From looking at the menu, it seemed like Dosas were popular so being that it was supposed to be a South Indian restaurant, I decided to get it. My friends got the gobi, one spicy and one non spicy. Guys, the spicy was incredibleee. Loved it so much. It was crunchy on the outside, soft in the inside and had a punch to it. But I will say, the non-spicy was just okay, it just didn't deliver that kick to it. When the dosa came, I was in love. It was a beautifully done dosa, with the perfect curl and texture. Paired with the sides, it was delicious. Fast forward six months later, I went to BLR Bar again, but slightly fearful that I wouldn't enjoy it as much the second time around. My fears were put to rest because it was just as delicious as the first time. If you're looking for authentic southern Indian Dosas, look no further. Pay BLR Bar & Curry a visit ASAP!
