10/10 for me! The food, service, value, and location. Everything pictured was delicious. The octopus wasn't for me but I tried it and my friends loved it. The wings and calamari were my favorite. I loved the potatoes with the short rib. We had both items on the specials menu, which were the pesto chicken with potatoes and the pesto chicken salad. Everything was served hot and came out quickly. The portions are pretty big and can be shared. I recommend 2-3 plates per person. We spent $200 for a party of 4 and that included a glass of wine and two mocktails. I loved everything about this place (except the parking, which isn't their fault). There are two nearby parking decks. So much to choose from so I'll definitely be back.

WE LOVE THE FOOD! Everything was so lovely. Our server Mary took care of us and made sure we had everything we could have wanted! I have never had such dedicated staff services in Durham before! It was such a treat tasting all the delicious foods and desserts. Please let Mary know we really enjoyed her service to us. She checked on us often and made sure we felt safe even there were a couple of random folks bursting thru and disturbing the restaurant. Mary remained calm and made us feel very safe. And please send our love to the bartender, he made us a fun drink we wanted and he did it VERY well!

We ordered several dishes including the octopus, lamb, brussel sprouts mushrooms and the chocolate churros. The meat dishes were all pretty good I would really recommend the octopus and the lamb. The vegetarian dishes were average nothing special. The vibes are cool and one of the few tapa places in Durham.

This restaurant, Taberna Tapas, fraudulently adjust the tip amount on my bill without my permission. My original tip amount is 4.38 dollars, but they adjust it to 9 dollars on their own. Don't come here to support this restaurant with fraud and dishonesty!

After a happy hour social at Alley Twenty Six, my team and I walked to Taberna Tapas for dinner. We ordered more drinks and a wide variety of dishes to share. We ordered 2 each of the following: Octopus Braised oxtail Spicy shrimp Beef empanadas Pork empanadas Meatballs Beets salad Roasted cauliflower Bacon wrapped dates Skirt steak & fries Everything tasted great. My top 2 favorites were the octopus and the oxtail. The skirt steak was the worst, super chewy meat. Definitely recommend this restaurant! It's fun, it's lively, and the food was amazing! The service wasn't great, but we enjoyed each other's company and the food too much to really care.

Came here on a Thursday night with a friend. She made a reservation but it didn't seem to be super crowded. Waiter was helpful in giving suggestion to veggie dishes. Tres mares was probably my favorite because it was very flavorful. The cauliflower was also very delicious I love the cheese sauce that was top of it. Honestly the dishes we ordered were delicious. Not pictured was the octopus which had a spicy kick to it! Had a good time here !

Great date spot. They set a smooth atmosphere here. Great service from Seth. He gave his suggestions and they were good, especially the paella and gambas. Their version of steak frites was the best and the the short rib is a must have. Definitely going back.

Especially since being recommended in the Michelin Guide for the American South. We all opted for the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. We tried the ceviche, birria dumplings, ham as à la plancha, spring asada, churros and capirotada. Every course was excellent and the asada was some of the best steak I have ever had. Also did the wine pairings and they were excellent. I opted for the Cava Rose, Albariño, rioja, Cabernet and Amaro Nonino. Foods paired very well with these options. This was my second time here and second time having the gambas, which are always fantastic. Service was excellent and made for a very special evening. I highly recommend! It was too much food for one sitting but I'm not complaining. The butter on the biscuits was amazing for the first course Second course I had the salad. The picked radish was a nice touch but the greens were drowned in the dressing. My friend got the ceviche and was pleasantly surprised by the saltiness added from the caviar. This course she got the gambas over blue corn grits and I went for the duck chilaquiles. Excellent flavor. And the duck was cooked well. I def recommend this for a breakfast forward savory dish- it's served with two over easy eggs. Finally we polished it off with the bread pudding with homemade ice cream and churros. The mango ice cream tastes exactly like a frozen mango. The blackberry on was nice as well. Very fresh. The decor is gorgeous and makes for a cool vibe. Lots of black walls with gold accents and copper insets around the bar. I'll def be back for date night to catch the evening vibes. We sat inside but they also half a full garden area for seating too ( maybe when it's not 102 degrees and humid). Guadalupe was our server and super sweet. Parking couldn't have been easier. We found a space right out front in the lot off 9th Street and walked straight in. It was a quiet Thursday afternoon, so we were seated immediately. The dining room has an elegant, relaxed feel, and with only a few other diners it made for a peaceful lunch. Lunch for two came to about $80 plus tax and tip, making this one of the more upscale lunches we've had recently. We ordered: * Crispy Brussels Sprouts * Shrimp Dumplings (6) * Mongolian Beef * Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad * Unsweetened iced tea The Food The Crispy Brussels Sprouts were a great start. They were crisp on the outside without being overcooked, and the mint, peanuts, and pickled onions added both texture and freshness. It was also a large enough portion for leftovers. The Shrimp Dumplings were excellent. The flavor was outstanding, and the Thai chili oil, garlic, scallions, and sesame worked beautifully together. My only criticism was the portion size. At six small dumplings, they felt a little pricey for what you receive. The Mongolian Beef was probably the best value of the meal. The beef had a nice sear while remaining tender inside, and the portion was generous enough that we had leftovers for another meal. It had a nice overall flavor as well. The Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad was good, but not quite at the same level. The steak had good flavor, but the cut itself was somewhat chewy. The accompanying rice was simply prepared and didn't add much to the dish. The flavors were enjoyable, although slightly sweeter than my wife prefers. Service Service was excellent. Our server took the time to walk us through each dish, explaining ingredients, spice levels, and preparation so we could choose items that fit our tastes. We especially appreciated her knowledge of the menu and her attentiveness throughout the meal, my iced tea was never empty. Overall Juju offers an attractive setting, excellent service, and several very well-executed dishes. Our biggest challenge was simply that much of the lunch menu leans toward spicier offerings than we typically enjoy. While we probably wouldn't return specifically for lunch, the dinner menu appears to offer a much wider variety of choices that fit our tastes. We'll likely be back to give dinner a try.

Before I continue, this place is nice and has a LOT of potential. There's a really good chance I would come back here. It is tapas (table plate-sharing based), and the food comes out as it is cooked, not in appetizer-then-entree order. With that being said... Our experience: Saturday evening, 6:30pm reservations Our order: Banana Mojito, a spritzer of some kind, the Braised Goat, Dovi Cauliflower, Magwinyas & Ice Cream. The food: The goat came out first, with jollof rice and a few fried plantains on the side. The goat sauce was a tad bit spicy, and the goat meat was good, but you had to work it like neckbones (maybe I'm unfamiliar with navigating goat meat): It was tasty. The plantains were the best I have EVER had, even from the Caribbean. The cauliflower came out next, sitting in a coconut-peanut sauce. It was a rather large head and it was good. If you do not like peanut sauce, I would say not to get it. Its really what gave the grilled cauliflower any flavor. Because I like bread, I opted to get the magwinyas (the waitress said that we'd get two, gesturing they'd be about the size of an airpod case), but when they arrived, they were about the size of a gobstopper. THEY ARE NOT LIKE ANY PHOTOS ONLINE. The best part is that they were warm and the homemade ice cream was Oreo lemon - we noticed it was the vanilla Oreo, not the chocolate. The ice cream was rich, and although it was pretty good, we couldn't finish it. For the price, the serving sizes were rather small, which doesn't explain why we were full at the end. The pros: nice ambiance, although the place is VERY intimate: tables are kinda small, and somewhat close together. The food came out surprisingly fast (not just ours, but for the parties seated around us as well). I understand the bathroom is large and VERY well decorated and comfortable. It is for ONE PERSON at a time though. The cons: The service was definitely beneath the establishment. While the waitress knew the menu, her presentation was lacking (dirty and soiled apron - from way before that day), and she was lackluster in her service. The water is pre-poured into carafes, and was almost warm. We asked for ice and never got it. The waitress did not identify the items on the menu that were not available, we were only told after we expressed interest. MAYBE ONCE did she come to check on us, even though they only had 4-5 tables seated. AND, when she wasn't waiting tables, she could be seen eating directly in the window the kitchen door. Tips: Park in the South Lot, its literally steps away. If you go here on a Durham Bulls game day, let the parking attendants know you're parking for dining and they will allow you to park for free. You can also park for free in the North Lot: its an easy 5 min walk through the Tobacco Campus. When I walk into a restaurant, the ambiance and the menu (prices) set my expectations. While I understand everything has gotten more expensive lately, I feel like this place is a little overrated and overpriced. IF and when I do return, I'll try the chicken wings and sausage rolls.

It is built on quinoa and rice with black beans and kale, then layered with corn salsa, tomato cortido, guacamole, and a creamy acevichado style sauce that pulls everything together. My friend had the rotisserie chicken with two sides, kale and slaw, and it was just as impressive. Crispy skin, juicy inside, and really clean flavors. Simple food done right and GF friendly. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared. Prices land right where you would expect for the quality, roughly 16 to 21 dollars depending on what you order, and it feels worth it. My bowl plus side of dark chicken was plenty. A few notes. Parking is what you would expect for downtown, so plan accordingly. Service was solid and friendly, but nothing that stood out.
