    Buffet lunch!
    Jessica H.

Very comfortable and lovely ambiance. The staff was very attentive and friendly from the moment we walked in to each refill of our water glasses. The food was delicious! I loved the buffet model because I could taste a bunch of things and see what I liked best. I guess I'm pretty basic because I loved the chicken tikka masala the best. They also had mango lassi on tap as part of the buffet! The array of desserts was also fantastic. Will definitely be back!

Sitar's Indian buffet is excellent and full of options. I swung by for a weekend dinner with my partner and thoroughly enjoyed their well-labeled dishes (vegan, dairy, meat labels etc.)! All of the curries I tried were flavorful and not too salty or heavy. I also enjoyed their drinks and desserts. I haven't been exposed to a lot of Indian desserts before and enjoyed the introductions. I will be back again with some friends or family! The service was a little bit slow since it was busy, but just know that you pay up front.

I know this place has been around for a long time, but in my opinion there is far better Indian food around. I came here years ago with my daughter when she was craving Indian food. On our last visit, some friends chose this restaurant as our dining destination midweek so my wife and I went along. The buffet has enough offerings but the food is just okay -- nothing outstanding. My wife and I ordered some mango lassis and they never came. The waiter who took our orders and who directed us to the buffet never came back to check on us. The rather worn look of the interior did not help. We paid at the register and both kind of looked at each other like, "Eh, we wouldn't necessarily have chosen this place on our own."

My 3rd Review: Went here for Sunday lunch buffet for my cousin's Birthday, and I saw improvement in Sitar's buffet selection. The highlight of the buffet this time was the Poori Bhaji - crispy delicious, and the potatoes were well-spiced inside. Chicken Tikka Masala was excellent as always, and this time, Sitar has biryani, Fish Malabar, spiced cabbage, and Paneer Masala. Wasn't a big fan of the beef, and there's still no garlic naan in the buffet, but overall, buffet was satisfying, unlike last time. I wasn't a big fan of the biryani but it's better than the rice I had last time. Mango lassi was creamy rich, and the drinks in the buffet were fine. The custard ran out fast because many customers were getting a piece of them fast. Customer service was excellent as always; it was nice that the restaurant was able to accommodate my cousin's Birthday party in Sitar's vibrant ambiance. We dined inside the more private area. Will likely return again but not anytime soon. It feels like I've been here too many times in the past few weeks.

Every two weeks Sitar provides an entirely vegan buffet. The buffets get better and better each time and last night's was one of the best. The buffet had so much variety and plenty of healthful options like spinach, okra and green beans. They also had Chana masala, pakora and tofu tiki masala. A new salad had eggplant and fresh fruit is always available as well. The dessert finale had a range of options such as cheese cake, flan and rice pudding - all vegan and dairy free. Finally, there is always a delicious shake, akin to a mango lassi, and last night's was banana. Service is always very good and they often have live jazz duet playing in the dining room for an excellent dining ambiance. Shout out to all vegans that this is the place to be every other Thursday night 5pm to 9pm.

    Indian deliciousness!

Indian buffet for lunch? Yes please! This place is so amazingly tasty. For a buffet the food is incredibly fresh. I can't remember the name of everything I got, but each item was full of flavor and fresh. The service was great and friendly. The dining room and bathrooms where clean and uncluttered. The price was also very agreeable. Will definitely be back!

Absolutely fantastic buffet- my family went here and loved it. Everyone thought the food was delicious and I ordered a mango lassi which was a great balance of sweetness as well. The staff was very friendly and came to check on us. The only thing I will say is it does get crowded so prepare for that. Overall fantastic!

Classic Indian restaurant interior. Friendly and quick service getting me seated and water so I could get to the buffet. Which according to the sign is all they do now. The food was flavorful but no more so than any other Indian establishment. There were at least a 1/2 dozen chicken entrees, 1 beef and 1 fish with a samosa and pakora along with various other sides, chutneys and sauces. There were two kinds of soup, tea and a punch. And a dessert bar. The total for lunch with tax was $16.01. I did not leave hungry. It's definitely worth a visit.

Great food, so many options at the dinner buffet. We had great cocktails as well. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend!

Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.

Paired with the coconut chutney and sambar, it felt comforting and authentic without being overly heavy. The chutneys tasted fresh and well-balanced, and the sambar had a nice depth of flavor. The Mysore masala dosa was the standout for me. The dosa itself was beautifully crisp on the outside while still slightly soft inside, and the spicy red chutney spread added a great kick without overpowering everything else. The potato filling was well-seasoned, not too oily, and had just the right amount of spice. Every bite had a satisfying crunch followed by warm, savory flavors. Overall, everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. If you're craving South Indian food, this spot definitely delivers--especially for dosa lovers. We have never been disappointed even once. What makes this place special is that their buffet menu is never static -- every single visit brings something new and exciting, whether it's a starter, entrée, dessert, or drink. There is always a surprise element, and I genuinely look forward to discovering what new item will win my heart that day. Let's talk variety -- because they deliver beyond expectations: At least 2 vegetarian and 2 non-vegetarian starters 4 flavorful curries 2 rice varieties 2-4 dessert options, plus a welcome drink and tea Even more adds-on during festival/holiday specials For anyone wondering about the taste -- it is exceptional. Truly unmatched in the RTP area. I've been to many Indian lunch buffets around here, but nothing comes close when considering taste, quality, and price together. You will always find at least one dish that hits your sweet spot and leaves you feeling fully satisfied. And speaking of hospitality -- Anand deserves a special mention. He is our guy every single time we visit. He welcomes us with a warm and genuine smile, checks in often, and ensures every detail is taken care of. Meeting him, enjoying the food, and feeling at home has genuinely become part of why we come back so often. Anand is amazing -- his service adds a personal touch that stands out in today's dining experience. Some people may ask whether they have live dosa/pani puri stands or fish fry counters -- no, but I assure you, you won't miss them because of the exceptional variety and flavor they already offer. You'll likely walk out with a happy heart, tight belly, and zero regrets. Their pricing is honestly unmatched for what they offer -- especially in this economy. Hats off to them for maintaining quality while staying affordable. If you live in Raleigh-Durham or are visiting the RTP area, you must try the weekend buffet at Lime & Lemon at least once. Chances are -- you'll go back again, just like we do. Highly recommended!

Seeking takeout, I wanted a South Indian taste but the trademark delicacy from the region, the dosa (which this place does offer), does not travel well. As such, I ordered a bisibelebath, a lentil and rice mix with a distinctive mix of sour, spicy, and savory notes. I hadn't ordered that in years, but I wish I ate it more often. The restaurant is also notable for offering options with tofu for the non-dairy crowd, and I got a house special curry with peas to try that out, which was satisfying. A chaat with mixed chickpeas and potatoes was covered in abundant crispy noodles and delivered a sweeter but still savory flavor note. On the more indulgent side, I got a filled bread with some cheese. Even for takeout, they focused on making the experience outstanding. Everything was ready quickly, and they offered me a set of fryums, little starchy appetizers that are what I would have received had I eaten in. A spicy pickle of probably mango was included as well. Strangely, they still gave me yet one more dish I did not order. I found the smell of my takeout bag utterly foul, and discovered that they had given me some sort of cauliflower dish as well. I appreciate the thought, and they correctly gave me a vegetarian appetizer, but apparently they didn't consider that offering such a dish would not be a plus to those of us who are supertasters of cruciferous vegetables. I threw it out to prevent the food and my car from smelling like rotten eggs. Having said that, it wouldn't really be fair of me to knock them down for being generous. Clearly, the intent was to produce an outstanding experience, and while I did not have time to dine in, it would have been a nice place to do so.

And when I last lived in Durham 30+ years ago, having Ethiopian on Main Street Durham was unimaginable. But Durham on so many levels is a completely different universe. Goorsha is a very pleasant small dining room off a welcoming bar area when you come in. It was overcast and cold this early March day but the outside dining must be lovely later in the spring. We had a very helpful waitress answer a few questions and the food came quickly. The Sambusa appetizer should have perhaps taken a bit longer. The edges were crisp and tasty as was the Deko sauce it came with. But the center was still a bit cold so a bit more time was needed. I wanted beef tibs and went with the Zilzil tibs knowing there would be less sauce and danger of staining my work clothes. They were plentiful, well-cooked if not powerfully seasoned. They were quick to bring ample powered pepper so I could give it some kick dipping each injera enveloped bite for some added heat. The winner was my vegetarian dining companion who went with the very flexible pick three from many vegetarian options. They were a distinct yet complimentary troika of richly favored dishes. At least for lunch, Goorsha goes with individual plates rather than the traditional round platter family style so familiar in Ethiopian cuisine. It definitely worked for us given one of us was a vegetarian and the other all tibs all day. Definitely very glad to see it just across the street from Brightleaf Square and one of the earliest areas converted from tobacco warehouses to fashionable eateries. Glad it is part of the Durham eating scene.
