This is still such a wonderful place where folks with different dietary lifestyles can enjoy good/quality food. They do dinner, brunch and fortunately for our group, Friday lunch. We had a large party and they were able to accommodate us, which was greatly appreciated. They set us up at two round tables next to each other and we had terrific service. Drinks & Food were enjoyed by all. I had the Salmon with Veggies, which was terrific, but definitely on the light side. Portions in general are on the smaller side here, but you're paying for quality. If you are trying to make Vegans/Vegetarians plus meat eaters happy, this is still your place! Came here when visiting my brother, and will definitely become a staple when we come back to the area! The staff was helpful and friendly, and the restaurant itself is cute. The food was fantastic. I got the goat cheese salad to start. The flavors of the maple candied walnuts, with the beets and craisins, with the creamy goat cheese and lemon dressing worked so well together. Had the lamb shank with grits as my main. Delicious! I love that the menu clearly marks which items are vegan and gluten free, as my sister-in-law who is vegan could easily order without having to ask about each item. There are also so many vegan options, and so many gluten free options! Definitely does not feel like you're having to pick between the 1-2 "safe" items. Thanksgiving dinner at Irregardless in Raleigh was ridiculously expensive ($154 for 2) and incredibly disappointing. I had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner (entree plus two "shareables"and Jim had salmon. The salmon was nice but quite small in portion size. We each had a glass of wine, and Jim also had a soda. He had asked for a lemon wedge to be included. He had to ask twice. Same for the butter, which didn't come with the rolls, and were not delivered until we reminded them at the end of our meal. The turkey was hard to combat, rife with gristle and skin, thinly sliced as if from a deli. White meat only, without any option. Not at all what I associate with Thanksgiving dinner. The entire plate was barely warm and certainly a far cry from a nice, hot Thanksgiving dinner plate. The stuffing was unremarkable. The mashed potatoes were thrown down as if from an ice cream scooper. The green bean casserole was a few green beans drowning in goop. Our server was a very nice young lady; however, we had to ask for several items twice, including the bag for our take-home boxes. There was barely enough cranberry sauce, and I could have asked for more, but all things considered... Why bother. I should have sent back the plate with the complaint that it was not hot enough. I should not have tipped 20%, but I did. I considered tipping at 18% but there was no point. I should have tipped only 15%. Really, she deserved only a 10% tip, but my sister used to be a waitress, and she has instilled in me the importance of treating wait staff nicely when it comes time for a tip. I will never return to Irregardless, and I will certainly cross them off my Thanksgiving dinner list, whether for catering or dining in. What a wasted Thanksgiving. What a waste of money. read more

A group of us recently had the pleasure of dining at Irregardless Cafe for Sunday brunch. It is a busy place so make sure to make reservations. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and taken to a round table. They have live music as well. I liked the farm to table concept and that they have their own garden. I also like restaurants with history. Irregardless Cafe opened in 1975. I read that it was the first North Carolina restaurant to be smoke free in 1985, 25 years before the state required it. Our waitress brought us black currant scones while bringing out the drink orders. When it was time to order, I went went the smoked salmon benedict. I was debating between that and the avocado toast. There were a lot of options on the menu so it was hard to narrow down to those. But eggs benedict is a favorite so I decided to try it with the salmon. It didn't disappoint. The eggs are the test with eggs benedict as the yolks need to be runny. These were perfect. All the flavors went together so well. I am looking forward to my next meal here. read more

I'm late on the review. I know. Good times we're had by all. Food is excellent. Parking is straight trash!! 4.5 out of 5. My first time here. The appetizer golden raisin scones are fiyah!! We could have eaten a half dozen of those. Short ribs and grits. Oooh wee! Fork tender. A tad too fatty. Just a tad but not enough to ruin the dish. Grits were seasoned. Not a grain of sugar in sight. I said what I said. Grits are savory not sweet. It comes with an egg of choice. I don't eat eggs like that anymore so my friend ate them scrambled on my behalf. My friend got the shrimp and grits. He loved his meal as well. My friend from Cali was in NC this particular weekend. Bae had to work. Trust. When he saw the menu and our food pics he was not happy about missing brunch. There was live music. You could just could hear the performer over the restaurant chatter. It's not a huge place but the conversations fill the room. I saw several groups. Speed of service seemed to be unaffected. Feel free to come with your crew. Too lazy to look up the name I'd the desert. Sooooo cute. Presentation is everything and this place does not disappoint. Pro tip: Do not wear your cute shoes. The side street parking is a hill. Not a single bad thing to say about this establishment. My cousin recommended this place and it did not disappoint. The chicken and waffles were great! I loved the honey grain mustard the chicken came with. It was sweet and spicy and paired so well with the waffle too. The waffle it self was just the right thickness and moist too. The place opened at 10 and we had reservations for 10:30 and it was already so packed with people inside and outside! I love how they also have a huge parking lot half a block down from the restaurant and it's free too! I'm from a place where free parking is hard to come by! There's brunch and then there's brunch! We're always on the hunt for a great brunch spot and we stumbled upon a gem! We loved the food, ambiance and service. The food was super yummy. I got the smoked salmon hash and it had big chunks of smoked salmon. I could eat this every week! My wife got the frittata and thought it was really good. I would have been satisfied just eating those beignets and drinking a water lily, but everything was so scrumptious. Our group of four arrived early Saturday night after event. Our waitress did a great job and was both attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. The water lily is my new favorite cocktail. I don't think there has anything better than a fresh beignet. Atmosphere: Irregardless has a welcoming and lovely environment, perfect for a weekend brunch. They also had live music when we visited, which added to the positive, lively experience. Service: Our server was friendly and patient as we asked different questions about their menu. The food also came out quickly. Food: We ordered the Shrimp and Grits and the Brisket Hash. Irregardless has some delicious Shrimp and Grits! The sauce was flavorful but not too salty -- it was creamy with notes of tomato. However, the dish got a bit too watery towards the end, and it could have benefitted from having more grits to soak up all the sauce. The Brisket Hash was good but did not wow us. The brisket was a little bit on the dry side, and it was rather plainly dressed with potatoes and eggs. For dessert, Irregardless kindly served us a Berry Clafoutis with a scoop of vegan vanilla ice cream, on the house for a birthday celebration! Unfortunately, we weren't very impressed with the dessert. The berry clafoutis itself was sweet and fruity, but the vegan ice cream tasted oddly synthetic and did not go well with the pastry. Overall: We enjoyed coming to Irregardless for a birthday brunch. The friendly service, live music, and Shrimp and Grits made for a memorable brunch; however, the other aspects did not impress us as much. Came back and I'm still a fan of this cafe. It has a fairly chill vibe, love the live music, and the servers are attentive. The salmon was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the seasonings. My company also enjoyed the chicken mole. And the tiramisu was surprisingly good. I would have liked a bit more of the coffee flavor to balance the sweet, but I'd order it again. I was really impressed with the organization of their hostess staff and being able to seat tables so quickly. Our server was really knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some really great info about the history and the options for vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free menu items. I ordered the Lox Brioche. The salmon is smoked in house and they put a hearty portion on my sandwich. All the ingredients tasted fresh and home made. Had an early NYE dinner. Place was reservations only and was fairly full at 5. Looking around, I noticed three dishes seemed popular. The burger, Spanakopita, and half posted chicken. For whatever reason, I decided to see what a vegetarian would order and got the Coconut Tofu. It was nicely fried over shredded carrots and green beans. The sauce was unique and delicious. It was a mango base with miso. Service was too fast, guessing they wanted to keep tables turning. With a drink and entree, we were done in 35 minutes. Exceptional flavor gives this 5 stars. We didn't know it was as popular as it was so we were so surprised to see the completely full restaurant and line out the door so definitely make reservations before coming here. The service here was great and everyone was so welcoming and kind from the minute we stepped into the door to the moment we left. It was a pretty big restaurant with a very lively atmosphere. The brunch menu had a good amount of delicious options, we couldn't choose 2 so we chose 3. They also have a nice list of cocktails to choose from. We chose the shrimp and grits, vegan burrito, pancakes, and mimosas. I get shrimp and grits almost anywhere I go and I will say Irregardless is now in the top 3 best ones I've had in Raleigh. Easily. Everything about it was perfect- this is a must get. The pancakes were good and the vegan burrito was surprisingly VERY delicious! It was crispy with a delicious filling and the sauce that came with it was a nice addition as well. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, not just vegans. We had 2 appetizers: Sesame Foccacia - this was dry and not fresh and you could tell it was a bit hard. Wasn't too flavorful. It came out soo quickly too like wasn't even warm. Tomato Bruschetta - this was pretty tasty but I would have imagined the tomatoes to be fresh. It was overly marinated like it's been sitting there. Bruschetta is really easy to make fresh so I was pretty shocked. I could see it being great if fresh For main course, we had: Chopped Steak - we didn't realize it was jaut like a ground beef patttie lol! Thought it would have been an actual steak cut. But the flavor is there and yummy red wine reduction. It was served with mashed potatoes so it was yummy. Was jaut thrown off from the Pattie lol Tempeh Curry - this was good we liked the sauce. With tempeh, you really need a lot of sauce because it's bland and tasteless but the overall food was yummy. At first, I didn't like all of the sauce on my plate but it does make sense to serve it that way because of the tempeh. It was definitely an acquired taste because I find myself looking to pair the rice with an actual meat either chicken or beef hahahaha Our server was nice and kind. The place itself is nice and we enjoyed the live music. Wouldn't want to pay the price we paid for what we ordered though. read more

Very overpriced, super small portions, small menu, not much flavor, single cans of soda, decent service. Best thing was the burger which you can get a burger twice the size, twice the quality, and half the price at Cali Burger in Apex. Everything else was too small a portion, not flavorful, and a rip off. I don't even think the salmon was 6oz, was undercooked, and was like $31. Dessert was good but also, small and over priced. Coffee was good but it was basically two shot glasses of coffee. I could have eaten close to $100 of mediocre food here and still not be full. Totally not worth it, never going back. read more

We bring our kids here and they love the food on both the kids menu and the main menu. And the kids menu is thoughtful. One walk around the block later we were seated and greeted with that wonderful Southern charm. Brunch Staples like eggs Benedict, waffles, pancakes and eggs with brisket can all be made gluten free. They even halved an order of pancakes for the kids, presented beautifully with fruit and whipped cream. The adults needed some Mommy and Daddy juice so we got the $30 sparkling, which came with a chiller and a little container of OJ. I did my mimosa the only way I like....by saying the word OJ next to a full glass of bubbles and letting it ride!! Service was impeccable, fast and friendly. Chose this place for brunch because all I ever want is to eat waffles with fruit and real maple syrup! Irregardless Cafe did not disappoint! We made reservations, but we arrived early just to see if we could eat earlier. The half hour difference was kindly accommodated within 5 minutes because we chose to sit outside with some possible rain imminent- there was 1 other group outside. The dining room was bustling and abuzz with brunch commotion of conversations and happy dining. We opted to sit at one of the handful of blue outdoor tables underneath protective awning with heating; not too bad! It didn't even rain- though threatened to do so. Anyhow, the menu choices were easy to navigate for ingredients and dietary restrictions, with markings for vegan and gluten free. The server was friendly and fast and checked about a few questions we had about the ingredients. After we ordered, the salads came out in almost no time. For a place that was so busy, it was impressive! The salads were super fresh and tastier than we expected! Yum! Before we even finished our salads, our entrees arrived! Wow! Again, impressed by the speed and the simple but elegant plating with the fruit, syrup and whipped cream. The dusting of powdered sugar was a lovely touch. I was quite pleased to say the least with the crispy outer crunch complementing the perfectly tender and moist interior of the Belgian waffles. There was plenty of maple syrup and just the right amount of fruit and whipped cream. The pancakes were light and crispy, but the texture was not my fav, as I prefer thicker fluffier pancakes compared to these thinner, crepe-like pancakes. Still delicious though! Service: I live near Irregardless, so we just walked over and got on the waitlist (originally said to be 20-30min). After about 3 minutes of walking away, I got the text to be seated! It was very busy and we were only a party of 2, yet we were seated at a 6-person table. It was 2 tables combined, so we went to the hostess and said that we'd be happy to split the table for one of the several families waiting to be seated... but they didn't want to? It was odd, but we tried to help. I don't recall our servers name, but from sitting down, it took him about 20min to get to our table. I figured things were hectic, so I will just say that their food-runner was doing great as she greeted us and got our drinks and order. Food: I ordered the vegan burrito, which was very good! Nothing that I noticed seemed off, so I was satisfied with it. I've gotten this order before and it has been great, with amazing breakfast potatoes! I knocked off 1 star due to the fact that my partner found a strand of hair in his egg frittata...That was upsetting. There's no chance that the hair was ours as it was a completely different texture, length, and color...He hadn't even taken a bite yet, but just cut into the frittata, so we brought it to the attention of our waiter and he quickly brought out a replacement dish. We were glad about that, and it was also taken off the bill which we didn't ask for. Conclusion: I believe this was an off morning for the restaurant. They may be understaffed or just busy, so I understand but have to mention my experience! This has got to be my favorite vegetarian restaurant in the Triangle. Up there with Fiction Kitchen, however, I'll give the edge to Irregardless. I like that there was no loud and deafening music, although, I was listening to "El Dorado" by the Golden Highway and Molly Tuttle on the local bluegrass radio station outside the restaurant (it's a bluegrass song that former Californians can relate to). Their menu is seasonal and about half of it is ideal for vegetarians. What I liked the most was the flavorful red pepper sauce condiment. You have to ask for it.
