The seabass is so good. It works well with the sauce and spinach. The sticky rice is just regular rice, not Thai sticky rice. We ordered medium rare and expext the outside to be crunchy. This beautiful, classy restaurant is the place to go for your semi-formal and special occasions. Think of this place as like a European bistro. Inside you have a long bar with tables surrounding it. Outside is a covered patio with not much noise. I chose the patio on the day I went. It was sunny and crisp. I had two hours between work shifts and chose to enjoy an easy lunch here. I didn't order drinks but Village Tavern has an extensive wine list. I would love to have a glass on my next visit. Their bread tastes fresh. If you take it home, my tip is to reheat it in the toaster oven. My salad was excellent. Gives me inspiration for crafting healthy eats at home. It was what I needed before my next shift. Was visiting Raleigh and saw the reviews on Yelp so we made a reservation for brunch. We were not disappointed! Food was amazing and our server, Miles, was awesome! My daughter's steak was a little overcooked, so Miles sent it back and got us a fresh one. We had a wonderful time celebrating my son's birthday here. The restaurant had a lovely old world charm with stunning oak wood detailing in the bar and the dining room. ​The food was very good. We had to ask for the bread, but it came out fresh and warm. The calamari had a great kick of spice, and my grilled meatloaf was perfect,crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired with delicious, creamy mashed potatoes. For appetizers we had the crab dip, nachos, and calamari, all of which are delicious. For our mains, we had the black pepper and honey pizzas (one of our favorites, yum), the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries (the sandwich and fries are delish!!) and the steak tacos (bad- steak was cold and way over cooked). She wishing her the best as she is getting ready to go on a one way trip to South America (I believe)! I enjoyed the three amigos margarita, the Korean cauliflower and a Greek salad with salmon. The salmon was a perfect medium well, as I requested and it had the best balance of texture and flavor. The Greek salad paired well with the salmon which was so aromatic, herby and delicious. I tasted the food network featured hot crab dip and that was really good. The restaurant played nice R&B music that I enjoyed. Our waiter was pheasant and attentive. It was a Thursday evening probably about an hour before closing, it was lively and chatty in all directions, a good mix of people with a 30+ crowd. The server took awhile to get to the table for the first time and then came by and said she will be back and needed to go put things down. She took the drink order but didn't ask for apps. First time here and it was amazing! The environment was very warm and welcoming as soon as we stepped in. The hostess was very polite and even moved up our reservation because he has arrived ~45 minutes early. Our server Ronnie was very nice and explained the menu to us since it was our first time here. I asked Leah to send over her manager Ashley since I was very impressed with Leah as a server. I had always loved village tavern back in Winston -Salem. I don't particularly cared for the in Greensboro. But since I heard they opened in Raleigh - I can't wait to try it. Finally was making it on Friday. I made reservation the week before because I noticed no spots open on fridays if you book the day before. All the dishes were great. Crab dip - yummy and cheesy. Calamari- seasoning is a bit heavy but I like the light battering which still preserve the freshness Mountain trout was good. It has always been my hubby's fav. I wasn't expecting more than a basic burger and fries and ended up with some of the most delicious sweet potato fries I've ever had that were not chewy and well seasoned. Our waitress who I believe his name was Emma did a wonderful job making sure that we got our food quickly and also got water refills as we needed them and the check quickly as well. Our group had reservations and we were seated immediately upon checkin. The restaurant can not accommodate groups bigger then 7 so we had to split into separate groups. It was fine. I frequent Village Tavern and often bring family and friends here. It used to be one my favorite restaurants in Raleigh when it was newer to the North Hills area. My recent visits in 2026, however, have been a little disappointing. The service and food lately is hit or miss. On my last visit, my party was sat with a partially set table (2.5 settings for 6 people). The server was pleasant despite having a busy section, but the food was lackluster. One member of our party ordered a cheeseburger that came out overcooked, and without the cheese or bacon that was ordered with it. By the time we could notify the server and get it rectified, everyone else in the party had finished. Grouper Hemingway was ok, but not as good as I remembered it on previous visits. The good: I've never been disappointed by the crab dip, fried oysters, desserts or bar service/cocktails. I've watched a few sporting events at the bar and all the bartenders are friendly and efficient. Ambience is still one of the best in the area. I'm hoping my next visit will be an improvement from the last and a reminder of why I enjoy dining at VT. read more
