12oz Filet with whipped potatoes. Broccolini

My fiancé and I were excited to try Frankos Prime on a Saturday night, but we left feeling a little underwhelmed -- particularly when it came to the food. That said, if you're in the North Raleigh area, it's still worth checking out for the atmosphere and some of the non-steak menu options. The interior is genuinely impressive. Knowing this space was previously a casual Mexican restaurant makes the transformation all the more striking. Our waitress was attentive and warm throughout the evening. We kicked things off with drinks -- a classic old fashioned for me and a dirty martini for my fiancé -- both well-made. For appetizers, we ordered the house-made focaccia and the tuna tartare nachos. The focaccia was well-baked but overwhelmingly salty, even without butter. The nachos were decent, though the tuna got lost under a pile of competing ingredients, including an aggressive amount of seaweed. For mains, I ordered the 12oz filet -- medium -- and it arrived medium well. At a steakhouse, that's a tough miss. Even with garlic butter on top, the flavor just wasn't there. The whipped mashed potatoes, however, were a highlight. My fiancé's ricotta gnocchi was excellent and probably the best dish of the night. We also shared the broccolini, which unfortunately was both chewy and bland. Frankos Prime has real potential -- the space is beautiful, the service is great, and some dishes genuinely shine. But as a steakhouse, they'll need to nail the steak to win us back.

First off I love the original Frankos and the people that work there. Our family is somewhat regulars and we drive out of our way to eat there. When we heard of this location we were so excited because of how much closer it is, so we went for my mom's birthday celebration. We got seating in the back room that had a serious fly problem (like there was probably 5+ at a given time and just landing on drinks, buzzing around, and even dove straight into my grandmas food which became no longer edible). Our server was attentive, but I felt like the manager never came to do or say anything about it, just took the items off our bill. I just feel like when it became a problem we could've just moved because it was only in the back room and only once our food started coming out. On another note, I love frankos food! It's good portions and always great! Their meatballs are top tier! Just a bit dissatisfied with the lack of explanation/relationship building from a manager standpoint.

We went with the Cajun wings and a seafood boil with king crab legs, shrimp, boiled eggs, potatoes, and corn. You can choose between different marinades and spice levels. We went with garlic butter and mild spice. I really wanted to try the shrimp fried rice but it was no longer available, I assume due to being sold out. Next time! Upon delivery, the food arrived very hot and smelled delicious. They ensure it's packaged so a leak doesn't occur. The wings were super crispy, flavorful, and delicious. The boil was a huge portion, truly fresh, flavorful, and delicious. You never know what you're going to get when you order seafood for delivery, but we were thoroughly impressed! The seafood boil and wings could feed two people I'd say. I can't wait to order again and absolutely will be. I will say the only downside is the price, it was about $160 for the boil and wings, but for a special occasion, absolutely worth it. I was debating between four and five stars but it was SO delicious and fresh, that I had to go with five.

Had the calamari as an appetizer, very chewy, I would not recommend. I really went for the crab broil. Mine had, crab legs, shrimp, potatoes, corn and sausage, everything was cooked well. I went with the Big Bang sauce, mild which includes Cajun, garlic and lemon pepper. It is salty. Overall, it was a solid broil for the price. I went in early on a Friday, service was quick and friendly. Dim lighting and cool upbeat music.

It does tend to get busy, so you may have a little wait for your food, but it's definitely worth it. The shrimp Rasta pasta was creamy, flavorful, and had the perfect amount of spice, plus they give a generous portion of shrimp. The fried fish was cooked well and tasted great, and the steamed vegetables with the garlic butter seasoning were also really good. Definitely recommend checking this place out!

We sat outside this day, as the weather was mild and there wasn't any available seats inside. We ordered a fried combo and a grilled combo. TrySeafood does a lot of things right. Portion size was fairly generous. We especially love the fact they serve cleaned jumbo shrimp. Food was cooked well, shrimp was tender as was scallops. The broccoli was not tender crisp nor mushy. The potatoes and corn were delicious. While service was friendly, it was a bit slow. Also, I'm not an Old Bay fan. The grilled shrimp were seasoned with Old Bay. While the fish was crispy, I prefer a cornmeal dredge to a flour dredge. Finally, (and this could have been a me thing) the tip percentage on the screen doesn't align with the math. I intended to tip 15% - which is standard especially considering slow service. That should have been approx $8 and when I got home I realized it was approximately $16. You're not given a printed receipt and if you're in a rush and going through the process quickly it's easy to miss. Again I may have missed something, but I'm pretty sure I selected the %15 option. Additionally, I've seen other restaurants that have intentionally include this practice. Would I go again, sure. I'd request a different seasoning blend or a light seasoning and check that math! Beignets, beignets, beignets!…read more This place is perfect for a girls night, date night, friends night, solo night... honestly any night! I came here for drinks and dessert with friends, and the star of the show was definitely the beignets. As someone who has visited New Orleans and tried the real deal, I thought I knew what good beignets tasted like. Turns out, I did not have to travel that far after all! The beignets here are like a cross between a classic beignet and a croissant. Light, fluffy, and just the right amount of indulgent. I will definitely be back to check out more of the menu, but no matter what, I am saving room for the... say it with me... beignets!!

The Service was outstanding thanks to Hayley. Her recommendations for pairing the drinks with the food were flawless, and each drink was prepared like a work of art. I started with the raw oysters, paired with a glass of Rose, which I loved. They switched from the Halibut with Fennel to Mahi with Forbidden Rice. The rice is black and inky and potent and extraordinary, but it overwhelmed the fish completely. Still greatful I got to experience it, but I would pair it with something more gamy like lamb or goat. The Pecan pie with warm salted caramel ice cream was nothing short of a spiritual experience, and Hayley's recommendation to pair it with Rum Flip was perfect. Yes, I Ubered. Overall, this one is going to be a frequent hangout.
