Breakfast menu with holiday selections, Dec 2024.

Bottom line: Eggs Up Grill was around a 3.5 stars food experience this visit but excellent service at the back counter area pushes them up to solid 4 stars. I really enjoyed the scrambled eggs with sausage and biscuit/gravy in the Southern Staples meal. Coffee could be a bit more flavorful/strong for me and grits were a bit runny for my preference. Pancake flavor did not come through for me as would have expected. The Deets: I went venturing out to Apex to try out one of the Eggs Up Grill locations I have seen popping up around lately. The restaurant, once inside, is bright and clean with a nice diner type atmosphere. Since I was dining solo, I was invited to eat at the first-come-first-served counter area in the back next to the kitchen which I took them up on as I like a good counter meal experience. I was quickly given my coffee beverage choice and just enough time to look at the menu without a long wait. I went with the Southern Staples meal which is menu described as two eggs, sausage biscuit, side of sausage gravy, choice of home fries or grits, in which I chose grits. I liked my scrambled eggs which were done as I preferred (not runny, solid while still soft a bit). I was given two sausage patties with my biscuit so I split the biscuit then placed a patty on each half and used the side of sausage gravy on each one. The sausage biscuit and gravy was very good, I loved the taste and consistency of the gravy in which it was flavorful but not too spicy (too spicy ruins it for me). Biscuits and gravy with sausage patties worked great with the scrambled eggs. The grits tasted OK but they were a bit runny for my taste personally, I prefer my grits a bit creamier in texture. I also ordered a pancake on the side and loved the fluffy texture of the pancake but I felt I needed more pancake flavor to come through, even with butter/syrup added. I ordered 3 Boston Cream donuts to go with me home as I loved how they looked on the holiday menu, however when they came to me they were not put together...the topping and filling were packaged separately for me to place together when I got home. I do realize and appreciate this packaging was likely to make the donuts fresher when the time comes to eat them but I cannot help I was a bit disappointed after seeing the menu picture. My coffee was lacking solid flavor as well, it could have been a bit stronger in taste. My coffee was not as strong and flavorful as I would like, but my coffee cup was never empty due to my great server Yael at the counter. She was cheerful, helpful, and was excellent in giving a nice counter service experience on this visit. I would say I feel honestly around 3.5 stars for my food experience but round up to a definite 4 stars for great service in a nice atmosphere.

The service is eggceptional and the bright and airy feel makes it a great stop for breakfast, brunch or lunch. Order up a specialty coffee or a sandwich to go and you won't be disappointed!

Today was my first time trying Eggs Up. I arrived around 10am and, unsurprisingly for a Sunday morning, the place was busy. Luckily there was still seating available and no wait. For how busy the place was, it was very clean. I'm trying to eat a little healthier, so I opted for the Goodness Gracious omelette. Not the best omelette I've ever had, but it was good. Id order it again. I liked that they had ketchup, hot sauce, creamer, etc. at the table so I didn't have to ask for it. The one thing I was not a fan of was their coffee. It was pretty bland. Eggs Up didn't blow me away, but I'd go back and try them again.

Lots of seating and big portions. The service was a bit slow but that may be because we went during a prime hour. Food tasted good.

I tried this for the first time thinking t had just opened. Turns out it's been open about six months. I was a bit surprised when the waitress was put off when I asked not to be seated near the door as it was a cold day. She did allow me to move to a warmer spot, but she never did warm up to me no matter how nice I tried to be. I ordered the eggs benedict, but was surprised that not only was there season salt on top of the hollandaise sauce, but all throughout the fried potatoes making it a Very salty meal. Because the waitress was so off-putting to me I'm not sure I'd visit again.

Eggs Up had exactly what I needed in the morning, some solid breakfast food, a clean environment to eat at, and some coffee. The inside of the store has some diner-like elements to it, overall very clean and has ample amounts of seating. The menu included a plethora of options for breakfast, brunch, as well as drinks. The service was great, we got our food rather quickly and were able to get everything we needed plus some extra coffee to-go. I ordered the loaded home fry power bowl, that meal was hefty. I ended up getting a to-go box and saved some of the potatoes for later. Great overall experience and I look forward to coming back soon.

Food was good. Service was good. The waffle smelled great and was fluffy. The option to request extra crispy bacon sounds good but when you get really dry bacon it feels discouraging. The brunch burger was creamy, flavorful and messy. The breakfast potato's looked seasoned to my eye but my tastebuds disagreed. I think the boiled potato's are tender but would be great finished on the flat top. The mimosa is really expensive compared to options in the area and the OJ ratio is off balance.

Amazing food, and amazing service. This was my first time here and it was great. Hard to find inexpensive but filling food these days and this place did just that. Great atmosphere!

This is a great spot for breakfast. We had a short wait and they were busy. I understand why they were busy as the hash they make is fresh and delicious. I tried I assume one of the signature dishes - FOUNDER'S HASH BENEDICT - corned beef hash made with potatoes, onions and special spices on a toasted English muffin, topped with two poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. This was a generous portion and the hollandaise was creamy with a nice hint of lemon. I opted for potato's and loved the dish. I could only eat half of the meal. I also feel the price is reasonable. Our server was friendly and helpful.

I came early this morning for a quick breakfast, and had a wonderful experience. The decor and ambiance is super cool - it's reminiscent of an older diner with a newer feel. I received my food quickly, and it tasted amazing. I got the goodness gracious omelet for a healthier alternative, and it was filled to the brim with spinach and mushrooms. They definitely do not skimp on fillings/toppings. I also got the house fries as a side. They were seasoned perfectly, crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. The coffee also hit the spot -- our server was very kind and offered to get me another cup to go before I headed out. Delicious food and great portions for the price. Can't wait to come back again!

The Chicago Dog was delicious and loaded with flavor, although I have to admit the toxic-green relish initially threw me off a bit (see pic). Once I got past the visual shock, it was actually a fantastic hot dog that stayed true to its Chicago roots. The real star, though, was the Reuben Sandwich. At around $15, it was absolutely worth every penny. Generously stacked, perfectly toasted, and packed with tender meat, melty Swiss, tangy sauerkraut, and just the right amount of dressing. The cannolo was the perfect sweet ending to the meal -- crisp shell, creamy filling, and not overly sweet. What really stood out was how friendly everyone was. I'm not saying I'll never go back to First Watch, but I have not had, what I would consider, a good experience the three times I've been at a First Watch. I'm giving a fair baseline and review the food, service, and atmosphere based on my thought process and what people can expect. Brief overview: my wife arranged for 11 of my family members to have breakfast at First Watch for Fathers Day. She called the day before to get on the call ahead list because we met the minimum party size. She was told on the phone, it would be probably a 20 minute wait as it's not a guaranteed reservation time. This is industry standard and if managed correctly would've been the expectation. When we showed up at 10 with all 11 members, we were told we were number seven on the list and that there were at least 5 to 7 other parties. The issue with this, is the staff was not pulling tables together to get us a place in front of normal walk in parties. This is what I was told. I'm not sure how correct it is. We ended up waiting over an hour for our table, which could have been cut in half. They had a "manager in training" managing the front of the house on a busy holiday. This poor guy was working as hard as he could. One of the more experienced waitresses stepped up and helped as the host list was out of control. . I have to say, I appreciate the waitress, stepping up and pushing enough tables together to accommodate probably nine people, and we stuffed the other two into the table which was fine with us, I happily took my corner. Now let's talk about the good stuff... In the three times I've been to first watch. The food has been absolutely fantastic...and this was no different. I went to the light menu and had their Power Wrap which was basically egg whites, meat of preference and some fantastic cheese, which I forgot what it was actually. It was 500 cal of pure eating pleasure and I would go back to eat it again...if I could eat outside where it's quiet...we'll get into that later. I have to say when I saw " million dollar breakfast sandwich" special for $14, which ended up being an English muffin with eggs and meat and cheese, I was a bit skeptical. It was absolutely fantastic, not enough to feed me in the morning, but I have to say I'd pay the money for it because the taste and the quality of the eggs, bacon, cheese and sauces it was absolutely fantastic. I'm glad my wife only ate half of hers. :) There was so much food on the table. I couldn't keep up with everything but everybody agreed their food was outstanding. I don't think you can go there and get a bad meal. Service: I feel so sorry for the people that were serving the front of the house that day. They were set up by their management for lots of failure and angry people. They did a great job staying happy and positive and doing the best they could, even though I knew they were greeting their teeth with every word. We left a pretty good tip for them and I hope the house doesn't get any of it because they did not earn it. What really impressed me is I saw the wait staff actually helping each other out best they could... attending to tables when they were falling short. The management should recognize them for this, that they picked up their management shortcomings. I'm being pretty hard on the management just because I know it was a holiday and I know there was a large crowd there, but they managed it like any other day. It was pretty obvious we saw at least a dozen people leave during the time we were standing there. This was a poorly managed day at best and a completely unexpected surprise to the staff managing the front of the house. The Kitchen: I was so impressed that we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering it, the back of the house should be recognized as well. They somehow kept up with a massive crowd that was there. Ambience: three out of three on this one it's too freaking loud. All 11 of us agreed on this. I could not have a conversation with the people sitting next to me because of the sound. This is consistent at every First Watch. I'm guessing if you're sitting in a booth along the wall that might help. I will give them a little break on this because it is breakfast. There's a lot of plates clanking and there are a lot of people there, but I'm just calling out the ambience with the data not emotion. You just really couldn't keep a conversation going. It's too loud. All in all, I may give them another chance when it's just me and my wife, but I would not recommend taking a large crowd there ever and I would not do it on a holiday. The food was absolutely spot on and fantastic. The wait staff in the kitchen were all over it, again accommodating them for making up the shortcomings of management and doing a great job to keep people as happy as possible.
